Island's is always consistent. I love just about any of their burgers and the salads are really great also. You can't go wrong with bottomless fries and the servers here are always friendly and attentive. My kid loves this place too!
My first visit was recently taking my son for his birthday. The food was very good with fair prices. A nice, small selection of drafts. Restaurant had an A rating, was comfortable and clean. And the staff were efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.
Kelly was FANTASTIC! Some of the best service we’ve had in a while. First time back to an Islands (moved to the East Coast) in 20+ years and the service made it well worth it! Thanks, Kelly!
My favorite place. The staff is so nice. Love the happy hour pork quesadillas with pineapple. Burgers are so tasty. And the fries, the fries are so good and even better with their seasoning salt. I like to get mine well done. Always leave with a smile
Delicious burgers and margaritas! We loved the Kilauea and Maui burgers, plus the frozen margaritas, margaritas on the rocks, and the Sunset Colada. The restaurant is a great place for friends and families. One of our favorite traditions was visiting Islands before a movie at AMC. Depending on the day, you may need to call and reserve a table in advance. Parking: Unless parking is now different, there are several easy, free parking options (though they tend to change during weekends and the busy dinner hours). There’s an adjacent above-ground parking structure, an underground parking structure, and a few blocks down the road (towards In N Out), there is an above-ground parking structure connected to the mall.
GREAT Experience! Stopped by for a late lunch, Got seated right away and a waitress came tot he table fast to offer drinks. Just a moment later she was already back with drinks and ready to take the food order. There was one item not listed on the menu that she recommended and gave that a try. The food was fast, the drinks where coming way faster and the service quality was perfect! The waitress was super professional and fast to bring food, drinks, and check what else was needed.
There's burgers and nice waitresses there!
As busy as it was for a Sunday afternoon, we waited no more than 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress Jasmine had great customer service. Parking isn't too bad and walking distance from the restaurant. Family friendly!
Great atmosphere and yummy food! Service is great when they're not busy. Happy hour deals are the best!
Somehow I had never been and it surpassed my expectations across the board. Got the malibu burger and it was delicious, if not a little overpriced. It’s a chain of course, but not very chain-feeling apart from the very safe menu.
Good service here and the food is always a vibe. All the good deals like happy hour are at the bar only, which sucks, but also the norm at most chain restaurants, so can't complain. I did take a point away for the food being on the greasy side, but nothing a good beer can't wash away. Good for sharing with friends.
We arrived for a late lunch on a Sunday and learned there is All Day Happy Hour at the bar area, so we went there! There was a football game so it was a bit noisy, but we didn't mind. We both ordered 3 mini sliders with added cheese from the HH menu. We ordered regular fries from the main menu to share. We were both so impressed with the carmelized onions and crispy onions, pickles amd more on these sliders. This trio of mini sliders were around $8 each ( three sliders) ! They were quite filling so we took 1 mini slider home along with the leftover fries. Our server was so attentive and had a great attitude! I noticed the other staff members were all smiling as they worked too! This team works well together! Bravo! Well Done!!! This team at Islands must have a good manager with great leadership skills. It is hard to find happy workers who all work well together.
Brought my grandma here when she flew in to visit and we both had a great time, we were talking about it all day after a great a experience. Our waitress was incredible, kind and caring and didn't fake it till she made it, she was genuine and I loved it. The food was incredible, the prices were great! The environment was comfortable and had a great vibe. I ended up buying a gift card because I knew I wanted to come back, and will come back. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
Me and my husband went here yesterday after seeing a movie. The burgers are sooo fresh... everything that goes on to the burger was fresh. I could literally taste the freshness. When I bit into my burger my taste buds did a back flip because it was just that darn good. The endless fries are good too! They are lightly salted... It was quiet when we were there maybe because it was around 1pm was still a little early. Our waiter was nice he kept checking to make sure everything was fine. We enjoyed ourselves!
Went here for a birthday dinner for my daughter. Just bummed that they didn't have any more Bloody Mary, which I was looking forward to. Salad serving was huge.
Better then a burger joint. Not sure if it was just an amazing server who made our diner occasion wonderful. But I can't complain about anything. Sat us down quickly, gave us time to actually socialize, order was correct, drinks were well liked, birthday desserts came for 2 of our guests, free of charge, and parking was easy. Did I mention our server was fantastic?!!
I love a themed experience. burgers always hit. mostly worth it if during happy hour
Very good bar and burger place. If you stick to their burgers, you can't go wrong. I sat at the bar and had an ice cold beer with my meal, it was great. They also have TV screens set up throughout the restaurant so you can watch your favorite sports. The whole set up is very good, as well as the customer service.
Hard to believe how lonely this place was, despite it being a Football game day. Anywhom, my burger was good the fries were better. I'm sad they changed the menu and I can't have what I want.
Went here with 8 friends, only a 15 minute wait! We were seated in no time and happily eating in about 10 min. Constant drink refills and surprisingly quick food service for our party size, not to mention affordable prices. Great place, will come back soon with buddies.
Good place to go eat. We love going here to hang out, talk & chill. The food is good, the staff is friendly and I like the high booths. It gives us a bit of privacy. The prices are reasonable as well. I like the healthy options & the tropical unsweetened tea. Parking is free & after we eat, we like to go walk the street and enjoy the sights, especially on the weekends when they do the little farmers market by the movie theater. Check it out & enjoy the atmosphere.
What's not to like? There aren't a lot of places where you can walk it with 7 people, no notice - at peak dinner hour, but they make it work. The burgers & chicken sandwich are good, with many options, the tacos were a big big hit, The soup was very tasty. Large portions. It's reliable and consistent. Prices are fair. By no Mai Tai's are pretty good too ☺️
Great place to meet up for a fun dinner. They have great options and deserts. We happened to come during the Dodger Championship win and the All-Star game, so it was hype and loud. Great crowd, tho.
Jack was our waiter & he was so attentive, respectful, friendly & kind. He took pictures of our big group, per our request & was so patient. He's a keeper! Oh & another great waitress is Courtney! She's really funny & down-to-earth. Ya'll been extra great at choosing the right workers lately! Thank you!
Kids had been bugging about Islands and how we never take them where they want to go and they are so deprived and why don't I have an Iphone yet. Typical Sunday. It was too late for lunch, too early for dinner. One of us had the hangries so we got an appetizer. Spinach Artichoke dip chosen by the little one. It's good, nothing spectacular. They are generous with the chips though. Ordered our norms, got the fix, good times. Those deprived children ended the night at BR31Flavors with only them getting something because we're awful parents.
Who doesn't like this place? The food is good, the drinks are awesome and the staff are friendly and seem to enjoy working there. We like to sit at the tables on the bar level because of the view and quicker seating. Of course, since it's a chain, each one may be different, but the one in Burbank gets five stars from us!
Phenomenal Experience Thanks to Luis and Kelly! Our visit to Islands today was nothing short of amazing, all thanks to this duo . From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and taken care of. Their attentiveness and genuine care—especially in accommodating our allergy concerns—made a world of difference. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was just right. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Huge shoutout to Luis and Kelly for making our day! We’ll definitely be coming back.
First and foremost, you changed your "ranch", I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm going to say it's different, and will let you decide if you (the reader) like it or not. Either way I got your loaded island fries because you have to when on an island! Yummy, even with the new ranch. This place is very kid friendly with crayons and menus for the little ones. The lunch menu is nice if you can make it during the timeframe. Otherwise it's classic standard burgers, sides, salads, fries, etc. Adult drinks can be ordered too. Looking for a night it with the kids, try this spot out.
6 yrs ago.... My all time fave since forever. I always get the hula burger on white with onion rings. Today I added the island mai tai.....everything delicious. Service was awesome !!! May 30, 2025... I missed the yumminess and am coming back for more regularly.. at least once a month. Although I did come back twice in May cuz it's my birthday 🎂!!! Pics are worth a thousand words ;) 😉
Islands is always a solid place to eat. This location is no exception. We got mai tais, my bf had a burger and fries, and I had a Chop Chop salad. I loved the salad and would get it again. My bf enjoyed his food too. There’s a QR code on the tables for the menu, and I noticed after I paid that there’s a QR code on the receipt you can use to pay, which is really cool. I’ll have to do that next time. Thanks for the great meal!
We stopped here towards the end of our California visit to meet some family and lifetime friends, and Islands was perfect. Their burgers were great and I suppose beer is beer. I had the Hawaiian burger since we were at Islands and it was satisfying. The staff were professional and attentive and will visit again next time in town.
The hawaiian burger has been one of my favorites if you like pineapple and honey buttered wheat bun it's still really good, this is just one of the few burger places that will grill the patties to your order, the fries were average, we were disappointed about this Burbank location no longer has fruit punch which used to be everyones favorite, the chipotle burger( not sure its name on the menu) was also juicy and tasty, it was not spicy but okay for teens. This is a good choice for watching sports, there are tv screens every where, the staff was friendly, the waiting time was only 20 min on a rainey sunday afternoon, this is a casual family, kids friendly or for solo dining or to have a good time with friends at the bar.
Downtown Burbank has changed so much, it's nice that islands has remained the same. I always order the same thing, the chicken soft tacos. The portions are large, and the food is well seasoned. Our waitress was quick and professional, and the bathroom is really nice for an older place. Great spot!
Stopped here for dinner before going on a night hike with friends. It was busy but not crowded (we waited less than 10 minutes for a table) Service was okay (our waitress didn't seem too interested in our table as she did with others) but the food was top notch. 👌🏽 I ordered the Maui burger well-done (Swiss cheese, guacamole, mayo, lettuce, onion) and enjoyed it immensely. The fries were fresh (but almost tasteless) so ketchup and a side of ranch was necessary lol Overall a nice experience 😊
My friend and I stopped by Island today to grab lunch. We figured for Memorial Day they won't be busy but they were. We were told the wait would be like 20 minutes so we went to sit at the bar since it's open seating. Our waitress came quick to take our order. I got a cherry coke and got the Hawaiian burger with fries. My friend got water and got the chicken sandwich with truffle fries. I will say that your hands will get dirty from the teriyaki sauce and juice from the pineapple so if you want to avoid that, don't order the Hawaiian burger. I thought the burger was delicious though beside the mess. They also give you a lot of fries since there no more bottomless fries. My friend loved her chicken sandwich burger and truffle fries. Our server was amazing and attentive to us during our dining experience. We would come back again when we get a chance.
Food was delicious. First lunch date with a woman I'm interested in. The atmosphere was just right for us to have fun and talk which was about 3 hours. I will definitely take her there in the future.
I had the chicken nachos and a Mai Tai during happy hour on a Sun. The portion was generous especially for the price. The Mai tai was mixed perfectly, boozy and sweet. Atmosphere and service were excellent as well. Would highly recommend.
Scored big stumbling into this place at 8 PM. Interior? Decked out in Hawaiian vibes, totally surf-worthy. Ordered up a storm: Kilauea burger, Hawaiian burger, and a fish bowl. App? Tempura green beans.Result? Stuffed to the max, especially those truffle fries with ranch dip—killer! Just wished for bigger crinkle-cut fries. Lost track of time and found ourselves the last survivors at closing. Overall? Five stars for food and accidental late-night hangouts!
Visited for birthday dinner & it was good. My boyfriend ordered the Malibu burger and it was 5/5, I should’ve ordered instead of island nachos. I think they could’ve put a little more chicken for the amount of nachos they give but they were good so I’m not mad. Flights were a little too strong. I enjoyed 2/4, maybe because I’m not a drinker like that though so I enjoyed the mangonada drink! The woman that brought us our food had amazing customer service and was very polite ❤️ (Didn’t get her name 😒)
Island Restaurant has a cool tiki bar vibe that makes for a great dining experience. - The burgers here are fantastic—juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. - I also tried the China Coast salad, which was decent but not the highlight (I’d give it a 6.5/10). - The drinks were good with beer fight and cocktail fight, and the staff was friendly and welcoming, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. If you’re looking for a chill spot with great burgers and a laid-back island feel, this is a solid choice!
Great times at islands! Our server was kind and attentive and helped in our times of needs. We had an issue with an item and the oh so ever guardian angel of a manager was kind enough to help even further. I wish i lived closer to experience this unique generosity that rarely is about nowadays. Should i ever be in the area again, ill be sure to stop by! #peppercrustedburger
Pretty cool place I was there last night for dinner two of us we ordered salads they were humongous around $18 each. I know it’s a little pricey but it was a lot of salad and the flavor was just OK was not spectacular on the other hand. The desserts are to die for😎😎😂👌
Maybe it is the nostalgia but always enjoy my burgers here. Juicy/greasy and fries, artichoke dip, and thin chips. All remind me of my days in high school and coming here for a treat. The fries seem different from before. More in and out-esque but maybe I just don't recall how the fries were in the past. Nice servers, chill atmosphere, can't go wrong.
Return to Islands after a loooong stretch. In mood for a local burger & shake. Hubby's rememberance that Islands had "identity crisis between island & mexican- who are we?" Spot on. Best items tonight in descending order: handmade "adult" chocolate shake (w/kahlua & dark rum); mai tai (not batch) by team Alyssa (server) & Leah (bartender); red onion straws & Malibu burger; guac, salsa & chips. Kudos to Alyssa for asking bartender to make mai tai according to original recipe!! Pic is of empty shake glass because we were finished off burger & salad. So impressed by her initiative & team work w/Leah (sp?) Look forward to returning.
Good food, fries were quantity over quality. They were good fries, but not great. Blue cheese burger was amazing, kilau burger was spicy and cooked just how we ordered it. Wings were ok.
To be honest I was expecting more, the food was okay no more no less. The service was okay as well we waited a lot to get a refill, and was not crowded at all.
Food is good. I didn't have to wait for too long to get my order (4 people) and the waiters were nice and attentive. Just be prepared to spend some time trying to find a place to park cause the parking structure is always full.
Food is always well made and the atmosphere is so nice to chill and relax. We had a big group and we were accommodated nicely and efficiently. The only islands we go to when we are in the mood for some burgers.
Friendly and efficient service. The food was fresh and delicious. My friend ordered the Hula Burger which she thoroughly enjoyed. I enjoyed the Hawaiian Burger Bowl (salad) which was fresh & tasty. Had to deduct 1 star for the ambiance; although beach themed, it was dusty and dated. Needs a makeover, fresh paint, new booths. It's not a worn, beachy look; it's old fixtures and furniture in need of revamping and a good cleaning. It's worth another visit, though - the burgers look amazing!
Islands is a very good restaurant with decadent burgers and fries. The beach bowl is great. The right portion and taste. My choice was w/chicken and hoisin sauce. Highly recommend. The restaurant also a good place to watch a game. Parking tough even though it's within a structure. Price is reasonable. Service is good.
Ok so had a nice time eating here on a Friday night. Wait was about 15 minutes but that's expected. We were seated and ordered. Ordered our food and our waitress had to leave a was replaced with some one else. Ordered nachos 2 jr hamburgers and 2 plates of tacos. It's was good experience.
Food was good. We were a party of six and our food came out in 3 installments. Mine came out last, separately, and the order was incorrect so I had to send it back meanwhile everyone was almost done with their food and I was offered yo eat the side dish of my sister's plate. By the time mine came out, everyone was done with our food. This issue was not acknowledged by management and when the bill came, no compensation or a though was given to this. I did ask to speak to the manager and after explaining what had happened, he took my meal and drink with 2 appetizers off the bill. Overall hectic and I never enjoyed my experience but I am pleased by how it was handled.
The service here is great! Staff is so friendly and comes to table to check if you need anything. The 3 stars are for them. However the food is like the same of McDonald's except I paid about $10 more. Might be I'm eating too much McDonald's or the cooks were lazy today. Either way, you guys should give your servers a raise they are AMAZING :D
Pretty packed. Even when it's not, it's slow. Took my family and the waiter was rushing us, not even given the opportunity to say if I wanted the meat well-done. I tried asking for ranch and barbeque sauce and he completely ignored me. When the food came, the fries looked like tiny bits as if it was the leftovers and only gave us a small amount of fries. I ordered the mushroom burger and they hardly put any in it. It used to be a good place, but maybe over the years new people are hired so it changes everything.
Food wasn't bad but it was definitely cold. Also our server seemed to forget we existed for the longest time. Had to ask for my basket of fries that I had been waiting on for way longer than necessary. In addition to all that the salt shaker combusted when I picked it up. Overall not the greatest experience.
The Kilauea burger is probably one of the best I've ever had. Juicy, flavorful, and not too heavy. The tortilla soup is divine and the butter cake made me feel like I was floating in a buttery, spongey, delicious heaven. The service is pretty slow which was confusing because they weren't busy at all. I'm sure that can be worked on. Definitely a great place to grab a burger and beers and watch some sports!
Food was meh. Had burger and beer. They wouldn't cook the burger medium rare so I was forced to get a burger that was more cooked than I preferred and it had too much mustard. Fries were meh. Hostess wouldn't give us a big table for 2 people even though there were literally only 2 people in the empty restaurant (see photos). Luckily waiter was cool with us moving tables. Free guacamole was nice if you sign up for their app. This place generally gets high reviews for nice decor and large portions but if you are searching for delicious food search elsewhere.
Before yesterday I haven’t been to Islands in over twelve years. The food is okay, Although I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t order my burger medium rare. I have been cooking professionally for years so I know all the pros and cons for eating rare meat. I happen to enjoy bleu steaks and medium rare burgers. The service was great though but I am in no hurry to go back.
"The food was very fresh and delicious, and the service was great, thanks to the attentive staff. However, the price was a bit steep - over $50 for two meals, a salad, and an Island Burger. Although the portions were generous, the cost was higher than expected. For a regular sit-down place, it's a bit pricey, but it might be justified at a higher-end establishment. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars, mainly due to the price. Value for money is key, and this place falls a bit short."
The restaurant is visually appealing, but the food is mediocre at best. I got the burger with sautéed mushrooms and chili cheese fries and was disappointed by both. The cook on my burger was supposed to be rare and came out medium, the overall flavor was lacking in flavor with the exception of the mushrooms which should not be the main flavor of a burger but a highlight. The chili cheese fries were overly salted and greasy. All in all I cannot recommend getting this food if you go there. Might have had a better experience if I stuck with a dip or something else but for the burger and fries it was very disappointing.
Maybe I should have stuck to a burger. But I ordered the Baja bowl with spicy chicken. It’s below edible. I didn’t enjoy it at all. My husband and son ordered burgers and fries which seemed just fine. Server was just so so. I remember Island was better before. Oh well. I don’t think I want to go back again.
The food wasn’t the best. I used to come here with friends after good amount of times and remembered the food being better. My longboard burger was okay. The lettuce wasn’t very fresh and the taste of the burger was minimal in flavor. Tacos were bad. The pork wasn’t good and the tortillas weren’t fresh. Drinks were good though.
This place has gone down hill. Both service and food quality are a one star. It used to be my wife and I's go to spot for wings after the gym. Not anymore! The host didn't greet us. My blue cheese burger had no blue cheese. To fix it they slapped some watery blue cheese dressing with no crumbles on it. I didn't eat it. The manager's tone and offer was short and unapologetic. We won't be going back.
This is the 2nd time I've been here in the last month and both times, the service at the bar was deplorable. Had to wait 20 minutes to even be seen by server the first time and this time, we had to wait as long to place an order. A total of 6 people at the bar and she's overwhelmed? We had to wave our menus to get her attention, as it seemed she was intentionally spot ignoring eye contact. Additionally, she's rude as hell. Interrupted my friend when he was ordering to finish his sentence and then walked away, just now. How much do you want to bet she gets the order wrong.
I couldn’t even order there were a lot of tablets available and we waited 10 minutes we went there to watch the football game and waitress gave us a table she was in a rush and abrasive and poor customer service we asks her to move to the next table because there was o wood post blocking the game we asked to be move to the next table to have a good vision to watch the game and she said no is dirty but I’m pretty sure its takes less than a minute to clean it up so we decided to walk out and go to yard house and we got a good customer service there
This past Friday 11/17, my wife and I were there during happy hour. It was disappointing. We sat down and got bypassed by the bartender there like 10 times. Never acknowledged us. She looked like she didn’t want to be there anyways. After like 10 minutes a manager named Marcos came over, didn’t even apologize and had an attitude already. Took our order, however the couple next to us got taken care of right away and they came in after us. Marcos was very unprofessional and rude. No customer service skills at all. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Another 10 or 15 mins passed, and we asked the bartender to check on our food, no response, she just walked away. Seriously how long can it take to serve a bowl of soup and toss a salad. We ended up canceling the food order and left. Even one of the male hostesses said that they get a lot of complaints about this manager Marcos. I’ve been to this Islands many times for many years and I wanted to give them one more chance but it’s only gotten worse. Never coming back here, I rather drive farther and go to Islands in Glendale. So sad to say that the way they treat their customers is not the way for a successful business. The customer is always right, and now they lost a loyal long time customer of Islands Burbank. Bad service overall.
Before go in and have dinner at this place, I would strong suggest a walk around the block to see their grease interceptor/sewer line spilling dirty water into the city storm drain. The island Burger restaurant grease interceptor/sewer is overflowing and dirty water is spilling into the city storm drain system. The grease interceptor is located on the back of the restaurant on N First Street. This issue is been happening for the past two weeks at least. They tried to fixed but the problem is back again. Two weeks. When they tried to fixed the issue they left the side walk dirty and full of grease, which is a trip hazard for pedestrians. This is not the first time that the grease interreceptor overflows and spills into the city storm drain. Each time this happens it takes the restaurant a long time to get the issue resolved.
We were just at Island's for a quick bite to eat after visiting my mom who is in the hospital right now as inpatient. We were just looking to finally relax and eat after a long drive from Vegas and visiting my mom at the hospital. We were sat at a six top table by the hostess after waiting for about 10 mins. Our waiter was Timothy L who was immediately in a bad mood before he even spoke to us. He didn't greet us at all, he asked how many in our party and when we responded 2. His mood got worse. I get it's a six top but we didn't ask to be sat there. He was annoyed taking our orders even when we remained calm, composed, and asked nicely for our orders with a please and thank you. We know his job is not easy. Both myself and my BF have been servers when we were younger. Guess what? You don't take your frustration out on your customers. If you don't like your job, find a different job. But don't ruin people's dinner and you don't know what they are going through like us tonight. Be a better person. 😌
This chain used to be amazing 10 years ago. Decided to go in for dinner and get all the usual things I used to order after seeing an Islands in the area. The cool breeze was way too sweet and there was so much teriyaki sauce on the Hawaiian burger that it was inedible. We couldn't even eat more than one bite of it. The Malibu was also no good. The meat was very dry and it had an unusual oily taste to it that made it impossible to eat more than a few bites. Unquestionably the worst two burgers I've had in my life. And to add insult to injury, we ordered a burger without fries and were still charged for the fries!
