Opinions de Sushi Dake Burbank
Best sushi I ever had, and the service was stellar. I don't get out to the west coast often, but I make it a priority to eat here when I do.
This is probably the best sushi spot in Burbank, at least on par with Niko niko. Highly recommend the chef's choice platters, they hook it up with some great off-the-menu stuff!
Very low key place to go. Good food. Amazing service. Came during a weekday. Not sure how busy it gets during the weekend.
Warm, comfortable environment even in the winter months! Fantastic service, excellent food. I had the California Roll and a salad. Tasty, hot sake served nice and at a great temperature! Delicious wasabi and a great vibe! Restaurant is extremely clean, organized and welcoming! Thank you!!
This was such a cozy and kind spot! The energy here is delightful and the food is delicious. Great service, awesome atmosphere, and super yummy sushi. Highly recommend!
The sushi and dinner boxes are delicious! Great service too. Lots of free parking.
Best sushi in Burbank and the service is wonderful. The people who own Sushi Dake care about the food, the quality, and making sure you're taken care of as a customer. Highly recommend your next sushi night be here.
I was visiting Burbank for only three days, but I got takeout from Sushi Dake twice. The food was great, and I was welcomed by the friendly staff when I stopped by. I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in the area.
Really good place. The staff was friendly and accommodating to my family that doesn't like sushi. They really just do sushi, which is good. Best of all it's affordable. The atmosphere is how sushi should be presented
Kinda mad at myself for being asleep on a Japanese spot walking distance from my spot after I’ve been in Burbank for 4 years. I’d say it’s a good nice intimate gem. The waitress was nice to me and let me drink my hot sake and provided me with edamame while I waited for my food. Very safe environment too. She made sure I was of age to drink.
The best miso soup I've ever had! Don't know how they do it, the very nice owner told me the same man has been making the soup for over 9 years. All the sushi was fresh and delicious. Great little sushi place here in Burbank.
Sushi Dake is also a great place to dine in for sushi lovers. The sushi chef is polite and easy on the eyes and has a sense of humor.( Discovered on casual run-ins during work breaks or passing by). I always rate a sushi restaurant on its cut, presentation and quality of sashimi octopus. And unagi(eel) sauce; It's one of my favorite dishes to order when ordering sushi. My sashimi was served with slivered lemons. I liked that.
Found this place on a whim. The outside looks intimidating but the inside is very well kept and took me by surprise. Service is fast and snappy! Price is pretty average but the sushi is far better than most sushi places I've been too! I definitely recommend this spot!
This is the hidden gem sushi that I've been searching for. The place recently opened about a month ago, and all you can eat for $36. The food is by far the freshest, and the service is especially friendly. 👌
Sushi is super fresh and very imaginative. Love their Octopus and they have good local rolls. Don't let the strip mall fool you, this place is great.
Great food, excellent and polite staff. Been here a few times with my wife. We highly recommend!
It's the best unassuming sushi. It's not fancy but the service is friendly and the rolls are delicious and a good value
The sushi was really good. The staff is very friendly. Great experience and we will be back.
Excellent sushi and sashimi at reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Always eat here when I'm in town.
I went before the dinner rush. I was sat at the bar. I was actually very appreciative that I was asked if I wanted ginger and wasabi before just serving. I never eat it so I was glad I wasn’t just wasting some. Both the appetizer and the meal were well portioned but light. Fish tasted fresh! Presentation was great.
Family owned neighborhood sushi restaurant with a comfortable setting Generous portions with a full menu Friendly and fast service Reasonable prices
Oh my goodness! So delicious and fresh. Visiting Burbank and stumbled on this low key spot. Nothing about the food is low key! Super fresh and quick! Prices are typical and reasonable.
Food was amazing! Service was quick and efficient. Best sushi I've ever had.
Always enjoyed their delicious food. Their sushi is delicious and fresh as always. My favorites are the dodger ball, love roll, hawaiian roll and the fries green tea ice cream.

It is a great place for sushi. Wonderful service, amazing quality and very tasty. Staff is friendly and always helpful. Sushi chefs are really good, if possible sit at the bar.
I got take out but wish I dined in! Walking into the restaurant felt authentic and smelled like your classic old school sushi spot that brings back that nostalgia feeling from back in the day. The sushi was incredibly fresh and melted in my mouth. I got a spicy salmon roll and spicy yellowtail and they actually had a small kick compared to other restaurants. The miso soup also tasted super fresh. Wish I took pictures but will definitely dine here again!
One of the best sushi places around. Excellent service, great fresh food. We like to get a massage next door and then have dinner here. It’s a delight!
Food was delicious. Sushi was fresh and tasty. We also ordered a chicken and tempura box. So yummy. Great service. Super sweet to our daughter and son who are animated and talkative. Two thumbs up.
Great hole in the wall sushi spot in Burbank! All the sushi & sashimi we had was delicious. Hamachi Kama was wonderful too - meaty & flavorful! Was on the pricey side of what we usually like to spend but a nice treat! That said, we did have a few sakes which added up to the total…
Excellent! We have not been here for 2 years because we've been living on the east coast. We used to live right down the street from Sushi Dake and would walk there quite often. We were visiting in the area and of course we had to stop in! Everything is absolutely delicious. Super friendly staff and it felt so good to be greeted by friendly faces. We had dinner at Sushi Dake twice before we left and we will be back again on our next visit! Amazing! Thank you!

The sashimi was really fresh and very nice pieces. The California roll was different than what we are used to, both texture and flavor. Not bad, just different, and a little on the sweet side.
Been coming here for years and the sushi is always spot on. We occasionally order the teriyaki chicken which used to be our favorite but lately it’s been just ok. We stick to the sushi now.
Good food, friendly staff, intimate space. Just the sort of small, family-run Japanese restaurant I like. And they take reservations. You just have to promise to be on time!
The fish is extremely fresh and almost buttery. We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints. It’s tucked away in a little mini mall but don’t let its surroundings fool you!
First time eating here and the sushi was very good. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Quaint little place in burbank , you want to go hang out with some friends and just chill. I have some Sushi , or whatever is on the menu.
I have been going to Dake for about 5 years now (they've been open for about 9 years). We went there on the recommendation of a trusted friend (otherwise, I would have never tried it because of the location - in a strip mall next to an exotic fish store). I am so glad that we did. IT WAS AMAZING, and it is our GO TO spot for sushi. They have a great variety, high quality sushi and the service is wonderful. We've recomended it to som many of our firends and they are never disappointed. The restaurant is owned by Michael and Diana. Diana is one of the sweetest women I know. She is always so welcoming, and how she remembers everyone's names, I willl never know. Michael is great. He is a little more aloof until he gets to know you, but just as wonderful. I love how he is always trying to create new rolls. His latest is a with Mango, Salmon, Avocado and, I think, Tuna. It was really good, and I'm not a fan of Mango. I think the Oishi roll is one of the best ever. Cool crip and oh, so yummy! The Diana Roll is a good one if you are not sure what you want. It is 6 or 8 different types of individual sushi rolls. There is one with Smelt Eggs, Salmon Roe, Spicy Tuna, Yellow Tail, Tuna, and a few others. If you are in the mood for a salad, they also make a great sashimi salad. It is really good. They also have a great selection of Beer and Sake. Tony is the 'new' (he's been there about a year now) head chef, and he is completely open to trying new things. Just don't do that to him when the restaurant is full. I watched someone go in there when there was a wait, and then sit at the sushi bar and tell Tony they wanted several different types of rolls. And they weren't simple ones. "I want this type of fish, mixed with hot oil, then wrappend with Soy and Seaweed paper then, on top I want ......." You get my drift. Then that individiual had the odasity to complain about how long it took ... REALLY ... do you not see that there are only 2 sushi chefs behind the counter and about 30 people with orders in front of you? SIt back, relax and enjoy some Sake. If you like Sushi, and like a fun, non-assuming place with genuine people had high quality food, then this is your place! My husband and I love it!
Service was great sushi was very good (but I've had better).
Not the best sushi I've had, but still a good dinner. The helpful and friendly staff made up for anything. As did their ramekins. For me, when I eat sushi I also want to be sent back to the Edo period of Japan and the art upon this dishware does just that. I couldn't help imagine a solemn tortured Japanese artist living in a one bedroom wooden house with paper walls sketching out their next masterpiece. And then only to be interrupted by the screams of the townsfolk as a fire quickly ravishes through the village, burning down all of their very flammable abods. Luckily they were able to save their family, but hundred of his incomplete sketches are gone forever being gobbled up by the hot inferno. Luckily one made it out unscathed and I get to eat wasabi off of it at the restaurant.
Tasty sushi and lovely staff. Ordered Sexy Roll (top) and Hawaiian Roll. Fast service.

This is good sushi. I was only in for a quick second to do a lunch, but I feel like this place has great options. I had the Dragon Roll, a Philly Roll, and a Spicy Tuna Roll and they were each made very well. I’d recommend coming at lunch because it wasn’t very crowded and there aren’t many tables in the room to begin with so if you come for dinner it might be crowded. It’s worth the time. I think there are better places around for the price, but if you’re in the area try it out.

So expensive for such little food. If you get tea here skip it. A tiny mug of it costs $2.50. My sashimi lunch special with tea cost $24.....for lunch! Another friend ordered the same except with a side of sashimi and beer and his lunch cost $60?? Kuru Kuru sushi nearby is a lot cheaper and much more filling. A sushi lunch over there won't cost you more than $16 with a drink.
Super disappointed with the price. $18 for five pieces of sushi with barely any fish. What you see in the pictures is exactly what I got. I feel like something this small should be closer to $10-12 bucks at most. The sushi was fine, nothing amazing but but bad either. I won’t be coming back.

hostess was not very nice to high school students. we ordered food over the phone to go so we had it ready by the time we arrived, and the hostess, in a rude tone, said that just because we ordered it to go, we could not eat inside the restaurant. I would understand that if they were busy, but there were three tables open next to where we were sitting. I will take my business elsewhere for now on.
awful service with included tip because we were a group of five however no where did it state on the menus or by the host's desk. We were willing to give a smaller tip bc they treated us so poorly but after their arguing we left no tip.
It's been 1 year since I've given a review. The establishment is nice and cozy . The main waitress seemed very nice. The cooks are very serious looking . We were a party of 4 . We each got 1 entree plate of sushi rolls ..and in total 2 appetizers . 4 cups of ice water and 1 perrier water bottle .. the perrier water bottle was delivered towards the end. In two occasions we were asked if we needed anything else ..we all said no thank you ...no extra water...no extra items ..we were content . We all felt satisfied..as the bill came ..we paid it .. leaving the establishment we all said thank you to the cooks and establishment..cooks looked very serious, and as we walked out ..I over heard one of the cooks say something in the foreign language to the waitress as we were walking out..we were outside the parking lot when the waitress came running out side ..we thought something was left behind .. to my surprise my son opened his wallet and handed the waitress 15 dollars...my son looked very uncomfortable 😐...I then told him ..she asked you for a tip right ? Both of my sons said yes for gratuity...I told my sons I knew it ..you see as I went in to the establishment it clearly said in a white typed paper that with a party of 5 gratuity would be appreciated..I think it said something about 20% would be charged from the bill ...we were a party of 4 and customer service was nothing extraordinary. Food was decent ....customer service was decent until it felt forced to give a gratuity tip..I assumed that whatever gratuity tip asked for it would of been included in the bill..I felt like a crime was committed 😕 😳 😢 first and last time..and if your curious to know we spent $100 on this dinner ...

I am unsure what I have done to offend this establishment, as I have tried to bring them regular business, but everytime I have come in here the woman and sushi chef treat me horribly and ignore me and chose to argue with me about my order. I dont ask for complicated dishes, just gluten free soy sauce, and greet them with a smile. I have tried to shower them with kindness this last time because maybe they just had a bad experience with someone that looks like me. It did not work. They seem to only cater kindly to families and elderly. Which is nice, but are very judgmental of alternative or different looking people. Great for families but not great for anyone else. I have worked as a server and bartender most of my life, I always try to be understanding of their occupations difficulties. I really am in shock as to why I get borderline abuse when I go in. They were very hurtful. I will not be returning and will be sure to tell others to stay away..
