We had the most wonderful dinner at SUL this Saturday! We’ve been many times for breakfast and coffee, but dinner was on another level. Easy reservations online; the Portuguese wine selection was both interesting and excellent value, the food was delicious, and the service was fantastic (thank you, Nick!). A true gem in Burgau.

Se gosta de restaurantes personalizados e com atenção ao detalhe, definitivamente tem de visitar o Sul. Lá, vai encontrar combinações de sabores que nunca provou, mas sempre com uma raiz algarvia. O conceito dos vinhos também é notável, com rótulos extraordinários de produtores que provavelmente nunca ouviu falar. O restaurante está numa localização privilegiada, com uma vista deslumbrante sobre as ondas do Burgau. A grande dificuldade será encontrar uma mesa daqui a uns meses, quando o Sul se tornar mais conhecido. A nossa experiência começou com um "o que houver", que incluía entre outras coisas uma manteiga de carabineiro e um azeite especial, acompanhados por um pão divinal e um vinho branco Dominó Monte Pratas. Seguimos depois para umas cenouras com figos e mel, uma espécie de ceviche à algarvia, acompanhado por um branco Quinta de San Michel. Entre um xerém e umas gambas algarvias, terminámos com um surpreendente pão de ló. Até o café foi uma obra de arte, com um blend da Etiópia fantástico preparado por um barista de renome. Tivemos a sorte de conhecer os donos, Rafael e Sara, que acertaram nas recomendações e nos proporcionaram uma conversa muito agradável. Deixo as fotos dos dois vencedores da noite.

Excelente café e decoração. O café é sempre um ponto forte assim como o Nick com o seu conhecimento absoluto sobre café. Os pratos que temos provado também valem muito a pena. E claro, a vista!

Great little restaurant with a view of the ocean in Burgau. The food was unique, something we hadn’t had before, but very good! We had the Q’Hover, something Sul appetizer (raw fish, kumquats and orange) and the mousse citron. All were excellent. The (pickled?) pumpkin (orange in the middle of the plate with bread/Q’hover) was incredible!

Every visit is a unique experience of food and wine. The menu changes from time to time and offer lots of variety for meat, veg and vegan lovers. In combination with the atmosphere and view there is nothing alike. I am big fan and many thanks to the great staff ⭐️

We’re staying in Luz and discovered this place by chance, and what a find! Truly one of the best, if not the best, meals we’ve had in Portugal. The quality of the food for the price is outstanding, beautifully thought out and refined. The wine selection is exciting and full of pleasant surprises. Service was exceptional, attentive without being rushed, giving us time to enjoy each course while also sharing thoughtful details about every dish. Coming from a place known for excellent food and service, I can honestly say this experience stands out. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone traveling in Portugal, it’s worth going out of your way to dine here. The view is also amazing, just to add on top of all.

Beautiful location for a Melbourne quality coffee. Their flat white is as good, if not better than the best coffee shops in Lisbon, e.g. Copenhagen, The Coffee, The Folks… Also a lovely place for a pre dinner drink of an evening taking in the sunset. Must visit if you love coffee…

Out of all the restaurants I ate in on my holiday to Burgau this was the best. Yes it’s a small menu but I believe that is not a bad thing if you can get it right. A large menu doesn’t necessarily mean good food! Anyway I had the prawns as a starter and fish stew as a main with a coffee to end the meal. The fish stew was so tasty. I ordered the sourdough bread to soak up the sauce. It was delicious. Great view of the ocean too. Nice friendly staff. Compared to some of the other very mediocre dishes at other restaurants, this was by far the best.

Tucked away on the steep road down to the beach, Sul is cool and modern, with tahini cookies, fresh roasted coffee and oat milk available. But it isn’t just for show; the coffee is fabulous (fruity and smooth), the cakes and cookies absolutely delicious and the food thoughtful, imaginative and exceptional quality and flavour. Went looking for oat milk and found a gem!

Op aanrader hier langsgegaan, de locatie had een uitzicht naar de zee en een klein terrasje :) Het eten was super lekker! Je merkte de zorg in de presentatie en de smaken. Zeker een aanrader om hier wat te eten als je in Burgau bent na bijvoorbeeld een lekker stranddagje :) De service was prima, we hadden twee leuke enthousiaste dames die ons serveerde. Ze gaven een fijne sfeer wat het plekje voor ons doen wel afmaakte :)

Estive no SUL em momentos diferentes — para pequeno-almoço e para almoço — e em ambas as visitas a experiência foi muito positiva. O espaço é agradável e tem um ambiente simples e descontraído. O pequeno-almoço foi bem servido e com produtos frescos. No almoço, os pratos estavam saborosos e bem apresentados. Um ponto a destacar é que o menu não é fixo e vai mudando ao longo do ano, o que permite encontrar opções diferentes em diferentes épocas. Excelente qualidade e uma opção sólida para comer no Burgau, seja de manhã, almoço ou jantar. Vale a pena sair de rota para experimentar!

Great food, a very pleasant experience overall. One of the best restaurants we visited in Algarve region. It is relatively small and finding a table might be difficult but it is well worth a little wait. The menu is not extensive but the meals are cooked to perfection. The staff is also very friendly and really tries to fulfill every request. Thank you!

I feel very lucky to have found this restaurant (not sure why it’s listed as hotel here). Everything was delicious: starters, main course, dessert, and drinks. They have a nice selection of wines as well and lovely specialty coffee. The service was also amazing!

Strangely enough, the baristas from our other favorite coffee place, Coffee & Waves, learned latte art from the master barista at SUL! Kudos to the staff and Chef Sara for an amazing vegan orange cardamom cashew based semi-frio. One of the best desserts I have had to date. Highly recommended.

Why is Google calling this a hotel, not a restaurant? This is a review of the restaurant. Wow. That was unexpected, but so worth the highish-for-portugal price. This turned out to be the penultimate dinner before they closed for the year, so they were doing a special wine-tasting night and later a DJ set from the kitchen (with the cooks dancing happily to mix of funk and disco.) While not every dish was to our taste perfect (eg the sweet potato puree was slightly too sweet for the mushroom and lentil base), they were all at least very good, beautifully presented, and interesting. I would absolutely love to go back or recommend it to others. Kudos to the great staff.

Er was nog 1 tafel vrij toen wij kwamen, maar het is verstandig vooraf te reserveren. De kaart niet erg uitgebreid en de hoeveelheden die worden geserveerd daar waar het de hoofdmaaltijd betreft vallen nogal tegen en dan is de prijs redelijk aan de hoge kant. Over de kwaliteit wil ik niet negatief zijn, maar het vlees van de ribs was niet echt mals. Gezien de reviews die we hadden gelezen viel het ons en beetje tegen.
