Nice restaurant at Hacienda del Mar Autograph Hotel. Our table on the terrace facing the ocean as the sun was setting on the horizon. Romantically speaking, hard to beat. Guacamole with chapulines was an amazing tasting experience! Pork belly just perfectly prepared. Black octopus ceviche, another unique dish hard to find elsewhere.
We had an amazing meal in a beautiful setting! The restaurant is located right a the beach. We enjoyed every moment. The seafood was so great!
Amazing! Food is excellent. Menu is fun. Staff is fantastic.
Hands down the best restaurant within the hacienda del mar resort. Rarely do we like all 3 courses in a high end restaurant, especially being vegetarians. They had a separate vegetarian menu. We cleaned up all the plates! Beets salad, lettuce salad, 🥕 main course and the chocolate cream dessert were all so yummmmmm....
Great food by the water, excellent service and beautiful plates!
I regret not taking photos of our food but I’m not a food reviewer nor a blogger. I do want to give this place a shout out for the superb service and exquisite cuisine. The views at this restaurant is delightful especially before sunset. They don’t offer breakfast so you can’t really enjoy the sunrise. If you’re into architecture, you will appreciate the grand design of the building and the materials used that I think are mostly locally sourced. Be prepared to spend a minimum of $100 USD for dinner here. A bottle of wine cost $50 USD. If you’re from California and checked the true cost using the Vino app, you’ll be surprised that it only cost $10 back home. Nevertheless, you will enjoy all their cheap wine selection (between $50-$100 USD). I think it was handpicked perfectly. They will have string musicians to serenade you while dining so it’s a plus.
One of the most beautiful restaurants we have ever been too..so magical and amazing place ever!!! The food is so fresh and delicious...highly recommend it..
Pitahayas was on the grounds of our resort, so I came here with a party of 5. We had Ismael as our server, and he was top notch. The restaurant is such a stunning, peaceful spot with ocean views. There was live music when I went and the band was such a nice touch to the dinner atmosphere. We highly recommend the tuna tataki, duck confit and foie gras, miso soup with braised short ribs, and blackened fish. We will definitely be back on our next trip!
We had an spectacular experience! Great Service at the best location, Pitahayas is the place to go for a romantic dinner
Ambiance, food, service & overall experience was amazing.... servers took their time explaining each meal & were quick to assist with everything.. love it
Excellent Thanksgiving Dinner! Beautiful setting, perfect service with a delicious and satiating Thanksgiving meal. An interesting salad, lobster soup, then boom! moist turkey, perfect potatoes, yams, stuffing and a beyond description cranberry sauce. A great meal in a perfect setting. Thank you chef Volker!
Fantastic evening out for girls week in Cabo. Can’t say enough about the service with Alfredo and Gabino, they were charming attentive. Food was excellent, giant wine list and incredible moon rise. Come here and enjoy yourself
Pitahayas gave us the best meal we had in Cabo - add that to it being on the water with the waves crashing and it was one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had. We tried all types of apps, including the octopus (pictured), crispy shrimp, tomatoes, beat salad & tuna… all were high level. For our entrée we went with the blackened fish of the day which was a light & super flavorful sea bass (pictured). Everyone else raved about their plates as well (beef filet, short rib dumpling soup, etc.). The desserts were a perfect way to end it as well! Thanks to the staff for being so accommodating and the perfect blend of attentive but not overbearing. We will be back!
One of my favorite restaurant in Cabo San Lucas The Chef Mr. Uriel divine dishes can’t wait to come back
Best food on the property and a wonderful setup. High marks for service too.
Absolutely delicious food and over the top service! If you are near, it's a must stop and enjoy a place to eat great food and excellent service! Drinks are simply amazing and delicious too! Oh, and every table has amazing views!
A bit pricey but beautiful presentation.
Have a timeshare here and eating dinner here is always the best. Was here in December and now in April and the servers truly treat you with so much love and like you’re loyalty
Wow! Exceptional food, flavor & presentation! Amazing hip atmosphere with exceptional views overlooking the ocean. Service was a bit on the slower side. You will be charged for regular water. Plan on spending around $80 per person at least for dinner without drinks. It's a great place.
Very nice dinner. Everything was exceptional. We had a show with our meal. A baby whale was breaching right off of the shore. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. All the employees were attentive and friendly. Could not ask for a better evening with my fiancé and daughter.
Really excellent restaurant on the grounds of the Hacienda Del Mar Resort. Beautiful location right on the water. The service was excellent and the food was 5 start quality. A couple of our favorites from last night were the Beet Salad and the Sea Bass. Delicious! Thanks to our server, Ismael!
Fantastic meal at a really good price. We had the salmon sashimi which was one of the best takes on that we've ever had. The short rib was phenomenal. The apple sunset didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal, but all in all a great experience.
We had an absolutely amazing dinner tonight! The NY Steak was perfect!! My wife's shrimp was delicious as was the seafood tortilla soup and the Tuna Poke, both so tasty. The best part of all was our server Juan!! He had us laughing the whole evening! We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed his being our server! Can't wait to come back, it was the best dinner since we arrived in Cabo!!!
Beach side dining with a amazing view of the ocean. The presentation was great and the food was out of this world. This is a great place for a romantic evening plus there's a bar right around the corner where you can hang out after. *Pro tip* The blackened snapper is dope af.
The food and view were incredible. The all inclusive meal rate covered everything on the menu. It was an unforgettable evening. Slight delay with service but staff very respectful and friendly.
We LOVE Pitahayas. My husband and I came here on our honeymoon and it’s the best restaurant in Cabo, right by the water. Gabino took good care of us! If you come to Cabo I highly recommend Pitahayas. The food and service is the best.
Excellente! Every year we celebrate our anniversary at a great restaurant and this year, June 2017, we went to Pitahayas Restaurant at the Sheraton Grand Hacienda del Mar in Los Cabos, Mexico. First we were seated in the best seat in the house overlooking to ocean on a day with a large shore break and big swell with large waves breaking on the beach before us. It was so awesome and spectacular. Then we chose a cocktail, I ordered the house Pitahayas Martini, it was really good! My husband is a good wine picker...and we ordered a Chardonnay from Argentina, Sophenia, it was wonderful! And we ordered the house special...I would say the cuisine is asian-fusion. The special was a five course meal that was amazing!
In the past, Pitahayas has been hit or miss. This year, it was fantastic! The views are great and the atmosphere is fun! There is a great fire that you can grab a cocktail around pre or post-dinner! The snack course was definitely a favorite. Tempura shrimp, short rib taco, duck dumpling, and spicy tuna tartare were all "wows". Other menu highlights: CAJUN & SESAME SEEDS YELLOW FIN TUNA TATAKI The BLACKENED FISHERMAN’S OPTION The Pork Chop could have been better- I think it just didn't hit the flavor profile I was looking for. I'm not huge into bananas but the people I was with went crazy for the dessert spring roll! I personally thought the creamy chocolate was fantastic!!
Amazing restaurant, amazing view, awesome team! We have stayed at this resort twice and came to this restaurant nightly on both trips. The black ask fillet and beet salad are to die for and were our go orders. Ivan, Braylan, Emilio… the whole team were awesome. We felt very welcomed and appreciated both trips. Thank you to the whole team for creating memorable trips for us! Cannot recommend enough!
Seabass was excellent, fillet was excellent. They took great care of us on our anniversary. Live music to boot! Update: We're back again! The cold cucumber soup is a must try. So good we went back for thirds!
Can’t say enough about this place. The beautiful views were nearly as excellent as an amuse-bouche as the real ones we were served! The service was outstanding, very professional and kind from Oliver and Anethe. But my goodness, the food! What creativity from the chef… the sea bass in a miso reduction was an orchestra on my taste buds. I’ll remember this meal for years to come!
The stunning views of the ocean are amazing. The staff and service are second to none. The food was super. The different specials ans the selection of items I never had before, and combinations of flavors was great. They just need some fans to move the warm humid air around, as it can get sticky being outside.
One of the restaurants at Hacienda del Mar resort. Didn't have a reservation and place was nearly empty with at most a third full, but had to haggle to get a table in reasonable time and not wait 2+ hours. The prices are typical resort prices, but the quality of the dishes were very good & made up for the $$$. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. The grilled octopus dish was good, but was fried instead of grilled. The service was spotty throughout dinner. The server would disappear for long stints and the timing between appetizers/salads and main course was long, but server rarely came over to check on drinks, etc.
Food: 4* Service: 4* but very slow Ambiance: 4* Enjoyed dinner here one night of our stay. Heard from a few people that they believed the food here was better than de Cortez, which intrigued us. Found out that was NOT the case. On the 2 page menu (see pictures), i wanted to order that two piece shrimp tempura, but was told that the "snacks" section was an extra cost ($16 USD more) even though we had the all inclusive package. Huh? $16 for 2 pieces of shrimp tempura? Crazy expensive. So, I ordered the grilled octopus, and the fillet. The octopus was good, properly grilled, tasty and not rubbery. The beef fillet, it was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. But the flavor was lackluster. It tasted that it was cooked on a flat top and not a grill. No sear marks, not grilled flavors. Good, but not great. Like at de Cortez. A few at our table wanted to just have a couple appetizers and not a full meal. They were told you are limited to one appetizer and one meal per person, per visit. Huh? How does that make sense? The appetizers were good, but small. Our reservation was at 745pm. We arrived at 7pm for a cocktail. We let them know we were in the bar, which can see the entire dining room, they acknowledged us and our reservation. I noted what looked like our table for 8. A nice round table all setup and ready. Enjoyed our cocktails and then went to the front desk at 8pm to ask if they were ready for us yet. She said she would come and get us. About 15 minutes later, she took us to our seats and gave us menus. No one stopped by for another 30 minutes to offer water or drinks, or wine. We stopped a waiter and asked if we could order some drinks. He said yes and took our drink orders. When the drinks arrived 10 minutes later, we asked if they were ready for our dinner order. He said let me get your waitress. At the hour mark of no dinner ordering, we stopped another waiter, who was replenishing our water glasses to order. Mind you only. 50% of the tables were occupied at this point, so not sure the hold up. From there on, we didn't get our appetizers for another 30 minutes and then main course 45 minutes after that. I'm all for a long leisurely meal, but after 2.5 hours, we were ready to go back to our hotel. I hope you fare better than us should you go.
We dined at Pitihayas during our stay at Hacienda del Mar. We walked in at 7:45pm, and were seated immediately; the place was 40% full at most. No reservation needed. The "slow time" at the resort is May through Sept, which is why we visit in May/June every year. We dined at Pitahayas during the week of the June full moon. We arrived just before moon rise, so we decided to share the Full Moon Food/Wine Pairing menu. The food was good, the wine pairings were great (Som. Christopher Perez - most excellent). The service/timing of food/wine presentation was terrible. Most dishes were delivered, and we'd have to wait 10 minutes or so for the wine pairing to be poured, but that time the food was cold. Our waiter tried to pick up the slack, but twice brought the wrong wine to the table. The prices are over the top, excessive for the CSL market, but the resort has a "captive audience" in that it's not very easy or convenient to go off the resort for other dining options. Bottom line... good food, great wine pairing, service isn't that great and the prices are excessive. Our last visit to Pitahayas was not that memorable, this visit did little to change our minds. ————————————————————————— What a difference a day makes! We tried Pitahayas again for dinner here at Hacienda Del Mar, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Service was great, attentive, but not intrusive. We began with the amuse bouche of falafels, with a side of a middle eastern tomato sauce… Delicious! For appetizers, we tried the sashimi tuna and the grilled octopus. The appetizers arrived quickly, and were served at an excellent temperature. The tuna was super fresh, and the side dollops of wasabi were the perfect match. The grilled octopus may have been pan-grilled or fried, as opposed to grilled, but it made no difference. Outstanding taste, especially when paired with the sauce on the side; and there was a lot of octopus there, easily an entree-sized serving. For our entrées, we selected the crusted sea bass, and the blackened fisherman’s catch, also sea bass, or perhaps the equally popular local grouper. The both fish were expertly prepared. The plate presentation of the crushed fish was excellent, and the soy-based sauce underneath the fish was very tasty. The blackened fish was divine, and the side brussels delicious. We ordered wine for dinner, a Roganto sauvignon blanc, an excellent representation of the varietal from Mexico. The wine was served appropriately chilled, and the table bottle service was perfect. Special shout out to the entire staff, well done! Special hat tip to Mimi at the bar, easily one of the best bartenders in Mexico, and so pleasant to chat with about cocktails, local cuisine, etc. A wonderful evening at a 5-star restaurant! ______________________________________________________ Update October 27, 2023 Staying at Hacienda Del Mar again this Fall, here for a "birthday week" and had dinner at Pitahayas this evening. Despite enduring Hurricane Norma only 6 days ago, the restaurant was up to speed this evening. Service was good, attentive, but not intrusive, and the pace of the meal was good. The "almost" full moon helped to set the atmosphere for the evening! The food was very good. Amuse bouche of watermelon and feta cheese was good. Sourdough bread, amazing! Crispy shrimp very good, but needed a better pairing on the plate. Very nice berry sorbet palate cleanser before the entrees were served. Creamy rice and blackened fisherman's catch for entrees both good, but the fish was better! The wine was served cool, not chilled, a 1/2 ice bath fixed that issue. Nice complimentary b'day dessert served at the end was a nice touch. Pitahayas is worth a try if you're in Cabo!
Service and ambiance was amazing. Food was not as good as some other food nearby, but still solid. My steak was tough and the sea bass was bland. I'd still go back to try some of the other dishes.
It's okay is fair. They rely on way too much salt to compensate for only decent culinary skills. Service is hit and miss and they'll resist orders over a certain size if you're on the meal plan. House wine is marginal and anything decent is overpriced, even for restaurant pricing. Good once if your order right.
Always about the experience at places like this. Bar and waitstaff excellent but hostess with an attude ruins it. Wouldn't seat us at a 4 top with a view but 20 min later a couple was seated there. Hmmm...Adios! vamos al Cocina Del Mar!!
$160 for wagu strips and “snak” appetizer sampler with an incredible view and lounge lizard doing jazz. Wagu was medium not medium rare, hard abd chewy. But it was still smoky and flavor just over cooked for such good piece of meat. Snak appetizer was also fairly good at 1000p or $50. Restaurant would not let me sit in the table section due to reservations, so I settled for the bar. After 2 hours 90% tables left empty. Hope there is some irony there. Maybe it’s because I didn’t come dressed handsomely but like a Hawaiian dude. Whatever!
Located inside Hacienda Del Mar, found this place overrated. First, we arrived 10 min after the reservation time and the host was rude telling us how late we were and had to wait at the bar for a table to open. He was not gracious at all. We should have left at this point…. Dinner took 1 hour to come since we ordered, and frankly it was not up to par with the cost. Ordered Oysters as appetizer and I couldn’t really finish them, they were disgusting, and I told the waiter about it and he didn’t have the courtesy of taking them off the bill. The main course was average, just simple not worth the hype. So many better places to explore, I would not recommend this place.
I have been going to this restaurant for 15 years and unfortunately had a terrible experience dining. We waited over an hour for our entree and it kind of ruined our night. When we spoke to our waiter, Giovanni, about the issue. He called us liars and said it only took 20 minutes. I have never been at a restaurant where a waiter has called me a liar. We will never return
Very Disappointed Stayed at the Hacienda del Mar timeshare and three of us ate dinner at this so-called Asian Fusion restaurant. I am not sure why this was anything close to Asian. The setting was very nice. The food and beverage service was awful. It was very slow and incomplete. The drinks were not good. The pork roast was dry and overcooked. The octopus had a very poor flavor. One person did not eat her meal at all. Finally, we were overcharged by the bar and it took 30 minutes to get it right. The restaurant was very expensive and overpriced for the experience. Will never go back.
Staying at the hotel the place was empty just opened was told i need a reservation i was one person the restaurant was able to accommodate 70+ people and it was empty went back an hour later was still empty Pretty sure it was empty and had space all night Here for business not vacation Will post video of restaurant an hour later not showing the one table and two people at the bar Felt discriminated against if you don’t want guest to use your restaurant then you shouldn’t be here will attach video For place an hour later still empty Just made me feel like i wasn’t wanted or appreciate at the resort i am on a company all inclusive to don’t under why they would turn me away i was on person even offered to sit at the bar and was told no and the place was empty
Great Service Terrible food Wonderful view and lively music. We ordered lobster tempura to start with. The tempura was not cooked completely and I ended up with a mouth full of raw batter. Husband had lobster shells in one of his bites. Decided against eating anything else after that. Told the waiter and he said he would let the chef know. Didn't feel like making a big deal about it as we are on vacation. Service is wonderful. Go fo cocktail and view of ocean. No sunset view but still nice.
Unfortunately, only one star and that was for the beautiful view. The food was a total disappointment and we had to send it back. The Lobster was so overcooked it would not come out of the shell. Our appetizers and salads came out in a reasonable amount if time, but it seems like they had lost our entree order because we waited for almost an hour. We did appreciate the Captain's apology for the service and food, stating they were overwhelmed, but that was inexcusable. They did credit our bill for the lobsters and wine. We had heard so much about this place over the years and were looking forward to a great experience. No Bueno....
Waited for nearly an hour before we got our appetizers, and then another 40min for the main course. Flavors were OK, but the portions sizes were very small and the seafood was overcooked. The margarita tasted like it all came out of one bottle, I could get a better one in Albany NY.
$100 for a small salad, piece of cauliflower, a glass of wine and an unfortunate attempt at a banana pie. Our friends portions were also very small. The food tasted good and was pretty but we had to go eat at another restaurant after because we were still hungry. Very overpriced for what you get. Nice view and good service
I went here 4 years ago and it was phenomenal. Best steak filet ever. I came back as of this writing and I'm not sure what happened. We waited for over an hour and a half for our food and our waiter never updated us (mind you it wasn't even a full house, about half the restruant was full). Service was okay, but the fact that we weren't told what was wrong annoyed me. The food came out, I got the beef filet and it was super rare. I asked for medium and so I asked them to cook it longer. They gave me a new dish, and it was still rare. When cooking meat you can test by the firmness of the meat and it was obviously rare. The food on my families plates were cold, and the small potato they gave me had solanine in it. It was super bitter, sour, and made my throat burn. I'm a food manager, potatos high in solanin is a sign that they don't store their food properly and can be very harmful to humans. This was Christmas eve and I know hispanics celebrate on the eve. So maybe the main chiefs were out, but from the other reviews it doesn't seem like this is a one time occurance. The cherry on top is they ran out of gas for the warming towers outside so the ocean wind was freezing. HACINEDA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Dont let this restruant go under. It was beautiful with so much flavor. Bring back the old Pitahayas.
One of the worst dinning experiences I have ever had. We were sat 40 minutes after our reservation, after we had to remind them we were waiting. They were out of menu items as well (very small menu already). Wife got the snapper, wasn't seasoned and was dry, I got the shrimp. There were 2 pieces of shrimp on my plate, both had to be cut as they were so over cooked. My dish was also about 75% mushrooms, which was not stated on the menu as an ingredient. Our appetizer was the octopus. Worst octopus we have had, tough and chewy. Plus they say its grilled, the crunchy greasy breading suggests the fryer. This was so bad I don't think I will ever eat at another resort. Looks like we are going into town all week.
Martinis are diluted with water. This shouldn’t happen anywhere but especially at a high end restaurant. Food is decent and the view is incredible.
