This place is always good, it’s my third time coming back, I always order a rice noodle, my husband always orders the huo shao plus cucumber salad lol he said their cucumber salad is the best among so many places he’s tried. Next time I will order a mild spicy on mine I think the spicy may overpower a little bit and covering its original flavor :)
The dumplings sauce was great, as was the voice of the lady singing in the back (seriously want her for my next karaoke sesh) I ordered the vermicelli beef however I wish I ordered the vermicelli beef casserole and added tendon. The casserole is the same as the spicy beef noodle soup however it contains a delicious tea egg, tendon would have added some gelatin to give more mouth feel. I ordered medium spicy which was plenty spicy. The service is fairly typical for an authentic Chinese place: speak up for service. The place is small enough that a simple hand gesture is enough to get their attention.
Hands down my favorite noodle place in the Bay Area. So happy to have discovered this restaurant. We like it so much, we come here at least 2 times a month. Our fav dishes would be the Guizhou Style Beef in Sour & Spicy Mifen soup and Beef Mifen Noodle Soup. Can’t forget about their apps: pickled cucumber salad and Tofu skin salad. Staff members are always friendly and helpful. 100% recommend 👏🏻
Even with a constant line, the food is fantastic—generous portions, fair prices, and phenomenal service. Major kudos to the staff for delivering such great service while handling the rush.
Chinese melt in mouth rice noodles. Tsingtao fish dumplings made from mackerel. Nobody else has this. Made fresh daily. Dipping sauce v good. Sour spicy salty savory from onion ginger. Fermented hot sauce has a sour taste to compliment the hot spicy. Most cheat by adding vinegar and spend less time w fermentation for cost
This restaurant has really attentive service. One time we came in and found that the non-spicy broth still had a bit of pepperish spicy, the waiter immediately offered us another bowl of plain broth. The next time we were able to order noodles with plain broth to start with. Their food is authentic, delicious and reasonably priced.
First time trying mifen and I loved it! I got the beef mifen, mild spice. I like how I can still taste the spice even though it's mild. Pickled cabbage is quite sour but good. I came for lunch on a Tuesday and there was no more indoor seating but 1 table left for outdoor seating. Water comes in styrofoam cups and the wait staff is very attentive on keeping your cups filled. Free parking garage nearby.
They have great rice noodle soup. Non spicy is great for kids! The homemade yogurt is also tasty after lunch! Only thing is there are not many seats and line is long in the weekend.
Living in mountain View and having this tiny crazy crowded awesome restaurant is blissful.. I luvd their noodle soup, and cucumber salad Comes with great flavor. . thick and rich in taste..Everytime you come you see people are waiting in queue to dine-in. They are fast in service and welcomes you happily. Taste/flavor -5* Ambience - 3 * Value of money - 5* Service - 5* Indoor and outdoor seating ☑️ Dine in and to go ☑️
love this place!! staff is super friendly and helpful & speak both chinese and english. delicious homey tasting comfort food. not much seating, but wait isn’t very long either.
Ordered the spicy and original Mifen. Overall, the food is fast and delicious. The customer service was good. Worth trying definitely if you have not eaten before
A birthday celebration led us to noodles. We ordered different variations of beef, noodles and spice level. Very tasty and full of texture. We also ordered a fried bun and pork and cabbage dumplings. The servers were nice and welcoming. It is a small restaurant so it filled up quickly. The peanuts were a great bonus to go with the noodles.
One of the best and most authentic noodle shops in Mountain View! The flavors are very traditional and really remind me of home — every bite brings back memories. What really stands out is how generous they are with the meats, definitely more than most Chinese noodle places I’ve been to. Everything is legit and absolutely delicious. The service is fast, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you’re looking for real, comforting Chinese noodles!
The service was friendly, and the food was served quickly despite the crowded atmosphere. The soup was decent, but the lamb could be improved. The roasted bread was excellent.
Walked by this small but crowded restaurant and decided to try. Received great service all the way through: server remembers our faces and spot in line, took our orders when table was about to be ready, even offered free drink when we lended a hand. Food arrived almost as soon as we sat down. Soup was very flavorful. We ordered the signature mutton rice noodle and the beef rice noodle. Plenty of condiments and meat. The pork intestine side dish was our favorite. The rice cake was also on point. Only wish/suggestion is that the meat could be a bit fattier. Overall a very satisfied experience and would definitely come again.
First time here, we ordered yuba (dry bean curd with peanuts), lamb noodle soup, and lamb organ soup. It was authentic Chinese soup and was so flavorful. Staff and service was exceptional.
It's an authentic place to eat Mifen(rice noodles). The spicy beef stew noodles are very tasty. The dessert fried rice sticks 🍡 are delicious and the same as what I had when I was a kid. 😋 The yogurt tastes exactly the same as the old traditional Perking flavor! Definitely a recommendation and a good place to come again! 👍
Best mifen I've ever had, they have a nice squeaky texture. Mian was pretty good, but not as amazing as the mifen. Soups are also very good, adequately spicy. Really good portions. Lots of options on the menu, though the beef is definitely a good pick. We also got a beef appetizer, not spicy enough for us but still very good. Love the suan nai, I would pay for it but it came with our order :) The lady was also very nice, explained the menu to us. She warned us that it can be pretty spicy so she set aside the spice just in case. But it was all good, I poured the whole thing in and it was even more delicious. We will definitely return for more! Downtown Mountain View needs more restaurants like this.

The golden soup was delicious and flavorful. One chili symbol was already a bit too spicy for me but it was still good nonetheless. We had to wait a couple minutes but service was efficient and they took our orders outside so when we sat down, food was brought out quickly.
Authentic rice noodle, yummy flavor, I can tell the soup are made in house from scratch, not like a lot of restaurants these days with pre-made packages. high quality food with good quantity , Friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend. Well Worth the money we paid.

Been there for lunch in weekend. Not much parking spots on the street, and because it’s downtown area, so it’s understandable. Line outside about 30mins for seats. Foods: 5/5 for sure. We had Beef mifen, Mutton offal mifen and the lamb spines. Environment: 2.5/5 it was 35 Celsius and this place has no Ac or fans. The restaurant inside also super tiny but full of tables, so it’s not a kid friendly family restaurant.
Food is good but restaurant is very small. Few tables and small space. Each table is close to another. For noodles, it has large portion and if you order vegetarian noodles, there is a lot of bok choy in it.
Decent service, overrated food. This place is crowded. The line could be long. The servers were attentive compared to typical Chinese hole in the wall joints. I got the signature noodles medium spicy with beef. The broth was good but the meat cubes felt bland. Not tender either, a bit on the chewy side. The noodles were... just ok. If this is the best Guizhou style noodles the bay has to offer then I'm pretty disappointed. The bring Beijing style yogurt was decent though, not too sweet.
Mifen 101 is a great spot to diversify your noodle palette. It isn't the most spacious area, and parking can be difficult. However, going to the restaurant was worth the drive to try a rack of lamb and noodles on a cold day. Not the best spot to go again, as there are a lot of competitive noodle and soup spots that could be heartier and easier to get to. I enjoyed the experience and the presentation; I recommend trying Mifen at least once.
We got the tomato fatty beef clay pot mifen, the house special beef noodle soup, and a spicy beef tendon cold dish. Meat portions were very generous, and the soup were alright, both were super spicy but I found the tomato one to be a bit bland. The beef tendon cold dish was really good, definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall decent spot if you’re feeling like getting mifen, nothing crazy, pretty good value.
Came here without reservations at 6:30pm on a Saturday. Wasn’t any issue to find a table for 3 people outside although there was a little bit of sun shining directly on the chairs which was a little uncomfortable, wish there was more shade outside. Ordered the seaweed salad, tofu skin salad, and the fish casserole mifen noodle dish. The seaweed salad and tofu skin were both fantastic dishes with classic authentic Chinese flavors. It wasn’t super spicy so adding some chilli oil from the table was a great way to enhance the flavor. The fish casserole noodle dish was a little disappointing however. The noodles had a good bouncy texture but the broth was very clearly lacking in flavor which tasted similar to water. Could have been better seasoned with more herbs and sour vegetables. Needed bolder flavors. Portion sizes are very good and 2 adults were able to share just 1 noodle dish with the 2 appetizers for a very filling meal.
The soup mifen/noodles seem to be all along the same lines of a scoop of meat, a scoop of pickled veggies, and a spoonful of spicy oil/sauce over a bowl of noodles. The place is quite small and there was a short wait when we arrived (peak dinner hour). Service was great!! Good place to go to satisfy the cravings, but I wish there was more variety in the bowl. Still, would come back again.
The rice noodles were very soft and smooth, and the soup base was excellent, but the beef pieces were small and not very tender. Service was quick and good, and there was free public parking building on the corner .
Sour soup mifen are the best if you got “sour tooth”. Heard from friends that the dumplings are also tasty, will try next time. Small place, long line. Be prepared for a certain time of waiting. Takeout is always a good idea for pp nearby. One of the waitresses is always nice and warm (sorry didn’t get her name). All in all, if you like mifen or would like to give it a try, definitely check out this place!
It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and the food left a great impression. The noodle dish was absolutely amazing – rich flavors, perfectly cooked ingredients, fresh herbs, aromatic spices, and high-quality broth. I’ll definitely come back to try other items on the menu. The only downside was the staff member taking orders. He was loud and rude, which slightly spoiled the overall experience. I hope the management addresses the service quality because the food here is truly exceptional!
Nothing too special - it’s authentic and tastes great but I wasn’t overly impressed and wouldn’t come out of my way to come here again. I think my favorite was the beef pancake, it was stuffed with beef and the dough was fresh.
Fine for an easy meal. Not a lot of options except for beef noodles and a few appetizers. The taste was a bit salty. Not much vege options. I didn't want to just have carbs so was looking for vegetable dishes; unfortunately I didn't find one. Service was very good.
Chinese noodle shop in downtown Mt View. So finding parking is a bit challenging to start off. The restaurant is small and packed, both indoor and outdoor together, maybe around 20-30 people total. You have beef noodle, lamb noodle, paring with some small dishes like pig ear, cucumber etc. The taste of the soup is satisfying, the portion is running on the big side. The Chinese yogurt drink has my childhood memories. Not a bad place I will say.

Signature Mutton w/ Skin Mifen 4 tender, soup flavorful, min spicy = too spicy Tsingtao Spanish Mackerel Dumplings 3 no umami, dense fish meat Chinese Braised Pork Bun 4 juicy, oily, pan fried bun
I came here on a Friday night with just a 10 minute wait or so. There aren’t many indoor seats so it does take a while to get a spot if you come at 6 PM on a Friday night like we did. Good: I liked the servers they were really nice especially since we spoke Chinese and they came out with the food really really quickly we ordered and they got the beef noodle soup to us in about three minutes or something crazy so this place is super super good if you were in a rush and you want some warm noodle soup. Definitely props though to the waiter who gave us free duck heads to take home that definitely added a plus one to my experience. Bad: The only bad thing about this place is that the noodle soup is just average it is really warm it has a lot of stuff in it and it’s just a little bit spicy but other than that I thought that it wasn’t the best I’ve had before. The food is pretty oily and greasy so I didn’t feel that good eating it either. Overall I might come back but I do think that the noodle soup was a bit less stellar than some of the other options on Castro and I would probably wait to try out the rest before I came back here.
First time at Mifen and this location. The broth was tasty. I got the brisket - it was a little bit grizzly. I would try other things if I come back. The soup was tasty but I felt the rice noodles were a little over cooked. We came at noon and there was no line on a weekday. It's a small space so could see why there would be a line.
Disappointed by the food quality nowadays . It is superficial and expensive. The service was cheap and subjecting. I would not come back again after visiting them all these years.

I ordered a delivery and found a hair in the noodle. It’s so disgusting. The hygiene practice of this place makes me concerned.

I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this place really stood out — and not in a good way. When people move to another country, it’s expected that they adapt to local standards, especially when running a business that serves the public. Unfortunately, this restaurant ignores some of the most basic expectations you’d normally see in the U.S. The space is overcrowded with tables, which makes it impossible to maintain personal boundaries. The noise level is chaotic, the smells inside are overwhelming, and the overall atmosphere feels extremely disorganized. Staff members didn’t seem trained or attentive, and the entire experience felt stressful rather than enjoyable. If there isn’t enough room, fewer tables should be placed — simple as that. And if the restaurant wants to succeed here, it really needs to respect the comfort and expectations of customers in this country. Right now, the quality and environment are far below what is acceptable. I truly hope they improve, but at this moment, I cannot recommend this place.
