Love gyro and not disappointed here. Very big and tasty sandwich that was too much to finish in one meal. Fast, good and reasonable prices. Will be back again soon.

This place definitely has the best gyros around. The pitas are soft, the tzatziki is sweet and the meat is usually very tastey. They're a little pricey at $6.20/gyro with no drink or fries but it's worth it. The lamb meat has varied a little a few times I've gone from incredibly fresh and juicy to a little crunchy. Overall, it's still the only place I'll go for gyros. Edit - Still coming here and it's still the only place I'll get a gyro in this region.

This is by far the best Greek Place Ever!!! We have had gyros from lots of places in Florida and Kentucky, and this is the best yet. The combos are fairly priced. The tziki sauce is a perfect blend of flavor. Don't waste your time anywhere else, eat here!

Forgot about this gem. Since 1988 I hit this place whenever I'm in town.A simple no frills joint with great food. Everything is good. Gyro meat is cut right off the rotisserie. Check it out of your in Pinellas park .

Really solid! Pita bread was slightly crispy, I usually prefer it soft throughout but it worked very well and adding on the feta was just perfect topping for the chicken pita. I usually don't find myself in Pinellas Park often but I know now when I do, Athenian's is a definite go to. Thank you guys!!

taste great and plenty of meat in the super gyro. one day i called it in, but they didn't make it until I got there!! Good taste on zeeke sauce. I use to work with a lady from the middle east. She said her boyfriend would drive over the Sunshine Skyway bridge to get a good gyro. I told her about this place and they approved of it!! : )

You have to try the salad. It is your basic Greek Salad but they add a layer of the best potato salad for the bottom layer. So unique and delicious. My husband loves their Super Gyro.

This place is a little dive-ish as you’ll see when you arrive, but the food is delicious and surprisingly tasty. We just had some Greek salads with gyro meat and thoroughly enjoyed them especially with the traditional potato salad beneath the salad’s surface (It also had a dolmades). I plan on returning and enjoying the rest of the menu in the near future.

I’ve been coming here for gyros for over 20 years now, they are the best around! Three years ago we moved to Inverness and I can guarantee this is always a planned stop when we go to Tampa/St Pete. I keep trying to find a gyro as good but nobody even comes close! Get the super, you won’t be disappointed!

Been going here for 10+ years, the gyros are great. But, recently they started up charging more than they ring up. Order came to $32.07 and the charge was for $33.35.

I stopped in on a whim, I don't review fries but today I will. They have super good fries. They are what you want, trust me try them. My Gyro was great, I always wish some lettuce would be included but maybe I don't know what to order. I'd definitely stop in again.

Delicious steak and cheese, great onion rings. I love small businesses and this was so yummy. I will definitely be back. Drive thru too! I bring my dog with me everywhere so that worked very well for us.

My wife has been eating here for a while now and I just had a gyro today. It was delicious! We went for lunch and decided to drive through. The ladies were very pleasant and the service time was very good. I could see them cooking the food through the window which was nice. I highly recommend!

I eat here like once a week. Their meat is pure magic and I don’t know how they make it taste so good. Everytime I think about them I get hungry and the wait is never long. I have been coming to Athenian's Gyros and Chicken for over 35 years.. I have always received amazing service.. The food has been consistently phenomenal, delicious, visually appealing, the restaurant clean the kitchen area also cleans the staff and owner pleasant, friendly and engaging.. They always make you feel like you are part of the family.. The Tzatziki sauce is truly traditional and original!

Amazing. Just about the best Greek salad around. Gyro's are excellent also. The parking lot and in and out lanes are confusing, however no one seems too upset if you are going in through the out side of the parking lot. We usually get it to go and enjoy our food at home, so no comment on dining in. The baklava is good and a generous portion that you didn't have to make yourself. Highly recommended.

Gyros are fantastic. Been going here for over 20 years. Greek salads are amazing too. I especially like the gyro with salad combo so I can have the best of both worlds. I think I have tried all gyros in the Southern Pinellas area and these are by far the best. Good value for the money. My only complaint would be that the gyros have gotten a bit smaller over the years but that's to be expected.

After having NYC gyros these are the closest in taste to those. I’ve never had a bad experience with the food. Sure there could be a wait time but it’s a small business, be patient. Hoping for more exposure so they can continue serving this food

Quickly responded to my concern. They happened to be closed when I stopped by but good customer service is 5 stars in my book nowadays. I'll be stopping by again soon for sure. On a side note, I wish places didn't close so dang early in this supposed metropolis. My hometown suburbia, Midwest had good food available 3am or even 24hrs all over the place for people who work odd hours.

I just got takeout from them, it was my first time. I got a gyro supreme And I will say it's the tastiest sandwich I have had of this type in a very long time. I don't eat dairy but this was totally worth breaking my rule ( feta cheese on it) I highly recommend it!

We needed a fix for some gyro and Athenians was on the way we wanted to go so we stopped for some takeout. Very delicious, saucy and just what we needed. Gyro and salad and for me just a gyro and some Spinakopida spinach lasagne. Definitely be back for some more another time. Didn't take too long in the drive through line and we just stopped in the parking lot to devour it 😁

Honestly I didn’t have my hopes up for this place simply due to the fact that that st. Pete doesn’t have very good food let alone ethnic food but, this place exceeded my expectations. I got a gyro that was STUFFED with meat. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The tzatziki sauce was on point. Highly recommend!

Yum! Newer to the St Pete area & so we just tried something close by that had good reviews. Well, thankfully those reviews were correct. We both ordered the gyro platter & my husband & I both loved it. The meat was a bit spicier than most places & it was probably my favorite gyro I’ve ever had. We both saved the salads that came with it for the next day since it was so much food & yep, salad was great too. I will definitely go back. Btw, the staff was nice too. I only picked up so not a lot of interaction but what I did have was good.

There's clearly a reason they have been around for 40 years! Don't let the outside of this place fool you, it is truly a hidden gem. The food is amazing and they have great prices! The owner is a super nice guy who works hard to put out great products!

Friendly clean whole in the wall type. It's not fancy but when you smell the food you will know you're in the right place. It's like welcome to the Greek Islands street food edition. I get a super gyro, salad and fries to split. The tatziki does not over power with cucumbers (I don't like them).

This was my first time dining at Athenian’s Gyros & Chicken and it makes me wish I would’ve discovered it sooner!!! It is located off Park Blvd and is easy to pass by, so you have to look for the sign. They have been open since 1985 and I can definitely tell why!!! They have a nice variety of menu selections, have a drive through as well around the back of the restaurant which is nice!! It is counter order and either takeout or sit down inside. They have a little area that has some souvenir items for sale on the right when you enter the restaurant. Restaurant is very clean and kept in great shape with nice decor and pictures on the walls. Booth seating is nice by the windows too!! The food was prepared quickly which also was very nice!! They have been recognized for years for their foods taste as award winning!!! We ordered 2 of the #1 Gyros, Fries & Drink Combos during our visit. I found out that their tzatziki sauce is homemade in house from Greek yogurt which tastes absolutely amazing and fresh!!! I can’t wait to stop in again to enjoy more on their menu!!! This is definitely a mom & pop business that is a pleasure to support!!!

Fantastic little local spot. Prices are very affordable and you get a great amount of food. They don't skimp out on the gyro meat which is great. Fries where crispy and hot and the gyro tasted fresh with a fresh pita bread. Perfect for a quick lunch. Highly reccomend!

THIS IS A MUST STOP! What a delicious meal! I got the gyro platter (which comes with some veggies and fries) and ordered online (10% off!!), as well as a drink, and baklava for $20. Now I can't speak for everyone, but I think that's more than reasonable for a small business and the food I received, especially for the quality. The gyro meat was flavorful, taziki sauce was as well, and tasted so fresh. Fries are usually meh at places that aren't an "American style" restuarant, but they were still seasoned and delicious. Don't even get me started on the baklava! Absolutely delicious and flakey and perfect. I ate every bite of everything. I am absolutely stuffed, but it was so worth it. I read some of the reviews after eating and sitting in the restaurant, and I couldn't be more surprised. Some were rude and I felt way off base to the experience I just had. The owner welcomed me in and I was just going to pickup and go. I decided to sit in, and I'm glad I did. He was friendly and kind, and so was his brother/friend Sam. They talked to me about the business and the food they cook at home. It makes me wish I lived close so I could eat here all the time!! Kudos to an awesome restaurant and experience!

Visited Athenian’s for lunch and was a bit skeptical initially when we pulled up. You can definitely tell that the place has been in business for a while. Inside, it’s a fairly small dining area, and you order right at the counter. We ordered a gyro meal (gyro pita, fries and drink) and a medium Greek salad. The food was delicious! The order was ready pretty quickly. You could also tell that the food was authentic. The lamb was tender and juicy, and the fries were crispy. The salad also had a generous helping of potato salad, tzatziki sauce, and feta. Overall, it was a delicious meal and we would definitely be back again!

3rd time here in a week! Excellent quality food and very tasty! I've tried the chicken, gyro, and the Kronos salads. Adam the awesome owner has been here 40 years! Place looks and feels almost new, very clean and organized...staff very friendly and customer service oriented! They care about your meal! Pricing: very good considering the high-rise cost of meats. Chicken is prepared here btw! Overall: very pleasant experience and highly recommend to everyone! Especially those looking for a quick lunch break like myself. Ty Adam for making my lunch break here an escape to clear my head!

I had the super gyro, the meat is fantastic the sauce superb, everything is just amazing!! And the prices are great. We got 2 the super gyro, the JR gyro, and stuffed grape leaves for under $20. I'll be coming back now that I've found out about this place!

My boyfriend was referred here by a friend and im glad he tried it. The gyro are amazing. They load it up with lots of meat and more importantly the sauce is more than enough. This spot is definitely worth it if you’re craving a gyro. Prices are affordable.

Good tasting Greek fast food in an unsupposing environment. Fairly priced, decent quality, and even has a drive-thru. Give them a shot and see for yourself. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be returning.

The place is not much to look at, but the food is awesome. I have yet to have a bad meal there yet, and I go at least once a week. I'm especially partial to the gyros and the extremely tasty tahziki (sp) sauce, which I always ask for more. They make it right there in the back room, from the owners' Grandmother's secret recipe (I've asked about it). I told them they should bottle it and sell it in stores... it's that good! The guys that work nights and Saturday are especially friendly. If you get a chance, check out the food here!

Open late a day before hurricane Irma hit. Every other restaurant and store were closed. Best gyro I ever had. My only complaint was how disorganized they were. They had to constantly ask what people had ordered and some people were served out of order when ordering the same thing.

Went for a late lunch after running errands. The food was delicious - especially the dolmades - yum! ♡ They have a drive-thru, and I got the impression that the majority of their business is drive-thru/takeout. Their menu is about what you'd expect for "fast food Greek," but we were pleased that none of the quality was lost! Inside seating isn't much to look at, but the food was definitely worth it! Very good, inexpensive, convenient Greek food - we'll definitely be repeat customers!!

As of March 8th 2022, the value combo is a gyro pita, fries, and a drink for about $11. The costs have gone up on everything so I can't blame a small establishment for trying to stay afloat. The food is good. The fries are always hot and ready as much as the gyro meat. The tzaziki sauce is great and the drinks are unlimited. You'll enjoy it all.

First time visiting here at the referral of a friend that said food was delicious. I ordered the falafel and was disappointed. Not sure if it was my sensitive pellet being a vegetarian but falafel had a strong meat taste to it. I literally couldn't finish it after two bites. I'm a falafel guru but this one wasn't to my liking. Maybe it was an old batch, the mix or what it was cooked in? However the service was phenomenal here! So much so I would return to give it another shot!

I called in and ordered a chicken gyros the guy said my order will be ready and 5mins and it was. Good is really good and tasteful however I didn’t see him wear gloves and the place look alittle unsanitary.

It's a consistent place with an interesting crew. The food is solid, the guy that cooks is nice. Haven't had the greatest experiences with the owner but I try to support local and my husband likes their cheese steaks 😄

The service is always friendly and inviting. The food is good and flavorful. Always comes out hot and fresh. The building is definitely in need of some improvement. Doors are rotting away, the hallway to the bathrooms is eerily dark, almost feels like a horror movie. The bathrooms themselves need new plumbing, a fresh coat of paint, and better lighting.

It's great food but one time the girl served me a gyro with cold meat and i haven't been back since. So idk 2 stars or 4. The cold meat was gross but I've had some great gyros there.

Stopped in for a Greek salad and was pretty disappointed 😞. It had tomatoes, but the amount of potato salad was enough to chuckle lol. Then only 1 olive!! I paid quite a bit for some lettuce🤣. I dunno if I will return. I love to support local business, but man. I'm beginning to wonder if new people are running it.

I know this place has good food but my wife and I are on a diet so we decided to each get a salad. Each salad cost $10 but the quality was more like $5. Way too much lettuce and feta cheese. The chicken was kind of dry and it tasted like it had some sort of strange Asian seasoning on it. The gyro meat lacked flavor. Also, the salads usually come with potato salad but because of our diet, we decided to not include it. We weren't offered any alternatives or lower price. They have good fries and gyros but this experience left me disappointed.

My family went in a few years ago & the food was good. My husband & I went in for dinner, got the gyro platter & the food was horrible! Everything was over cooked, gyro meat was rubber, fries were double fried, & pita bread tasted stale. What's sad is that they weren't even busy, we were the only ones in there at the time.

I normally call in my order and pick it up in 10 minutes. No problems, not one. This time the phone rang and rang and no one answered. I drove to the drive thru and waited in a car line for at least 20 minutes and the line never moved. No one came outside and said anything, like sorry for the wait or we are running behind or kiss my @$$. It will be a couple of months before I try again. Normally the food is very good.

My wife and I have been loyal patrons for almost 30 years ordering our usual 2 super gyros and fried mushrooms at least once a month. Yesterday 6/28 around 4:45 we ordered our usual. The mushrooms were good but the gyros had these deep green welted lettuce throughout especially on top and made the gyros taste gross. We will try them again and hopefully this was a one-time thing. My wife did say that there was a younger man in there making the gyros that she had never seen before. Maybe he needs some training?

Worst 20$ ever spent. Got a chicken gyro and side salad. Chicken didn’t even taste like chicken. Tzaziki had zero flavor. Salad had unripe tomatoes and the potato salad was bitter. All in all, I won’t be making that mistake again. I like supporting locals but not this one

Went there today and the food tasted terrible. We each took a bite and went up to the front desk. The owner was there, we said we did not like the food. He said, " I stand behind my food". We then asked for a refund, he said no (only one bite take from each). He said there was nothing wrong with it, he will not refund because we didn't like it. No offer of something else, no offer of a 50/50 split on the check. I became understandably upset, said he was a lousy business owner and left. He followed us out to the Parking Lot to argue, he took a pic of my tag # on my car and one of me. We argued some more and then we left. What a brave Man to argue with 2 women. I will NEVER go back !

I have never had such a poor cheesesteak. 90% onion, 10% meat. And the onions tasted spoiled. I have gotten food here over the years and never will again!

We've been doing business with Athenian for YEARS, so we're really disgusted that you cancelled our delivery order today and waited so long to do it. Your food is great, but this treatment is reason enough to take our business elsewhere unless or until you can pull your act together. Today Little Greek will be getting our $$$$ instead since you can't be bothered to take care of your regulars.

DISAPPOINTED!!! My husband and I wanted gyros for dinner the other night so I went on Google to check out the nearby Greek restaurant reviews. Found this place and was thrilled with all the positive reviews so decided we'd give it a shot. Very dissatisfied and will never order from here again. My hubby ordered the regular gyro, which wasn't too bad, except for being exceptionally small!! However, I ordered the super gyro and it was 80% TOPPINGS and 20% MEAT. Uhhhhh..... I wanted a GYRO, not a pita with feta, tomatoes, onion...... We also ordered a steak and cheese sub which AGAIN was 80% BREAD 10% toppings and 10% "steak". Was highly disappointed.

I ordered a gyro platter with a note of NO onions add extra cucumbers and tomatoes. My order arrived with diced onions all over it and I was charged for the extra tomatoes and cucumbers so I know they received the request of no onions. Also, the meat was extra dry and crispy. It was horrible. The pita bread was extremely hard and looked burnt. Purchasing a gyro from this location was a complete waste of money. I don’t even understand why a restaurant would send food in that condition to a customer.
