Absolutely fantastic experience. The food quality and taste is phenomenal, extremely well done. I have to say probably the best food in Cape Coral. I was just at Trulucks in Naples the day prior, and for a fraction of the cost Next Door blows the food out of the water. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I came here about a month ago for my very first time and wow I have just moved from Miami to Cape Coral last year and have not yet found a restaurant that can top Miami restaurants and until I Visited next door restaurant . The restaurant is very cute, the atmosphere is great, and the service is better. Everyone is really attentive. We decided to get the chef choice and we did not regret it. Everything tasted amazing. We were able to try a lot of options, different wines and great desserts. The chef was Great she went to our table and brought our food and Went over each dish . The food was amazing!!!
The tuna and swordfish were excellent. My other half has to do gluten-free and she said the pasta was to die for. It’s hard to find gluten-free food that is as tasty as this. It seems a little intimidating going in for parking, but there is no charge to go into the Parking garage. They also have half price wine on Wednesday under $85. It is a small restaurant so making reservations is recommended.
Food was impressive! Server Amanda was excellent. Inside and outside seating. Go you won’t be disappointed!
You should choose this restaurant if you’d like a meal that you can savor every bite, you can taste the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness of the hands that prepared each dish. This restaurant has a cozy, dim atmosphere that can be very romantic with a partner or perfect to unwind all by yourself. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, you can tell that they are like family, it feels comfortable as soon as you walk in. I could confidently recommend every single dish on their menu, none of them could disappoint. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is they give an amuse-bouche, that often changes but always leaves you wanted more. After dinner they give you a disgestif, which has usually been limoncello made in-house.
One of the best meals I’ve had in my life, and I’ve had a lot of good meals. My only regret is not being hungrier so I could order more food. The small restaurant does an incredible job of offering unique dishes that would be hard to find elsewhere. Unlike some Italian restaurants where the food is limited or heavy, Next Door has plenty of variety in selection and is not confined by the word “Italian”. My scallops entree was delicious, tasted fresh and the ingredients really spoke for themselves. No heavy sauces or over seasoning. I don’t have a big sweet tooth and I’m so glad our server suggested the pistachio molten cake. It’s not overly sweet and unlike any dessert I’ve had before. The whipped ganache and gelato really knock it out of the park. I wish I could eat it every day. It’s so refreshing to visit a restaurant with amazing food and service while offering one-of-kind dishes. Reservations are encouraged since seating is limited, and you will not regret stopping in.
From the very beginning we knew we were in for a great culinary experience! I am almost hesitant to write this review because they aren’t a big spot the food is Dope! Got to meet Chef John he was dope too!
Delicious food, chill vibe, great bartender! We went for date night, was able to get a reservation online and had a great experience. We got the “Burr its cold inside” drink but with gin- totally delicious. For starters we got the “Wagyu Beef Carpaccio” that was delish! Then my husband and u both shared the “Wagyu Filet Minon” that was to die for! It was extremely tender and tasted absolutely delicious! One of my absolute favorite steaks ever! We also had the “Clam and Crab Fettuccini” that was good. For dessert we had the “Cookies and Milk” that was above my expectations! Totally delicious! Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Can't even say enough great things about gathers sister restaurant next door! Phenomenal ask the way around! Thx Amanda for the great service with a beautiful smile! Carbanara and veggie lasagna for the win!
We loved it here! We went for my husbands birthday and had a great evening. The service was amazing and the food was good. They could add a little more seasoning, but besides that it was really good. Definitely a go to if you’re looking for something more upscale without paying a fortune for it.
Outstanding meal. Had Iberico & Melon to start and Tortelloni pasta. As good as I’ve had at any restaurant. Highly recommend Next Door. Friendly service and spoke with the chef about food preparation. You cannot go wrong at Next Door!
The food was amazing! We had the carbonara and the chicken Parmesan and they were exquisite! The service at first was a little slow since we were sitting outside but then our server apologized and was attentive after that. The appetizers - tuna crudo was delicious and filling, the wagyu carpaccio was excellent too. Highly recommended
Very quaint and cozy cafe style. The food was delicious. Good sized portions. I recommend reservations because seating is limited.
Yum! Sister restaurant of Gather, which is actually located, “next door”. The pasta withholds a ton of TLC, homemade. You certainly taste it. It’s small and cozy, great for a girls night, date night, business one on one. Service was excellent and the views match.
I had a fantastic experience at the Next Door restaurant! The atmosphere was lovely, and the food was absolutely amazing. The delectable entrees and appetizers left me thoroughly impressed. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Some of the absolute best food we have ever had! We were absolutely blown away by the service and quality of the food! We will most definitely be back ! Unbelievably good !!!!
Hands down one of the best restaurants in all of Cape Coral. From the service to the food there was not one thing I could complain about. I will most definitely be coming back and can’t wait to see what else this restaurant has to offer.
One of the best Italian restaurants in south Florida
Delicious new Italian restaurant with homemade pastas! Great atmosphere and great food! I highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience all around. We look forward to dining here again.
I had the chance to talk to the owner and chef several times during my visits. John, his wife and their team cook the best food in the area with high standards in terms of product quality, visual presentation on the plates and culinary finesse. You can see their enthusiasm for food and matching wines and drinks. My children also love the food. I look forward to my next numerous visits!
Chef Jess is amazing! The menu is so incredibly different. We took the time to read and see what was each selection. So creative. My husband got the carpaccio appetizer. Said it was the best he has ever had. We got the focaccia and knots which come with a whipped feta and pesto spread which there are no words for. Main entrees were a crab and clam fettuccini. So delicious, light and flavorful. The other was a large wagyu meatball with these pasta/gnocci pods stuffed with cheese. The sauce was delicious. This place and Gather have never disappointed!
We dined outside and Amanda was our server. Very large portions, chicken parm fed 2. Had 50% off on wine bottles on Wednesday. They do not have banana's foster for dessert the only downside. Otherwise great experience!!!!
Great cocktails and selection of wine. Chef John was extremely accommodating when it came to gluten free options. I had the best gluten free pasta I’ve ever had. 10/10 100%. Chef came to ask us about how it was and we learned that they make their GF pasta from scratch. Amazing. Would definitely recommend. Also, shout out to our server Lyric who took good care of us.
Great place for date night or just laid back conversation with and family. The food and service are always top notch.
Good food and friendly servers. Thoughtfully prepared, unique, mostly Italian inspired, dishes. We had the arancini and the mozzarella tomato salad for starters, the arancini were crisp and sitting in a rich truffle/parmesan sauce. The mozzarella tomato salad was in just enough dressing to coat the ingredients, but not overdone. We had the Bolognese and the red snapper. Both sauces were amazing, and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente.
I am a Celiac (gluten free) pescatarian so am used to (and happy with) enjoying a salad or a plain cut of a good salmon on a night out. Here, the chef himself came out to clarify my needs, even though the restaurant was packed. He made sure I knew he had changed the pasta water and cleaned the work space, he and the staff were very knowledgeable and made sure I was safe and well-fed. Every bite was incredible. This is my best experience at a restaurant since my diagnosis, and not only because of the truly delicious food and cocktails. Next Door is fully dedicated to their craft and it shows. I wish I could give it 10 stars. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.
One of the best chef driven restaurants in SWFL! If you’re craving an eatery with heart, passion, and soul poured into every dish this is the place to dine! Thank you Chefs Ben, John & Jessica’s for bringing us a place this for our enjoyment! We love all the fresh made delicious food! 🩷
Nextdoor was a great experience. The service was wonderful. She recommended a wonderful wine and I had the carbonara. My husband had the rigatoni with zucchini and we had pistachio for dessert. Everything was a 10 out of 10 and don’t forget the lattes. They were incredible. It’s a small, wonderful, intimate restaurant, we will be back many times
I am working in Cape Coral for a couple of weeks and I needed to find an EV charging station. I stumbled upon this small place after plugging in my car and was happily surprised! The pasta dish that I ordered was very good and the server (you can't say waitress any more!) was very attentive and took care of my order right away. I live on the east coast of south Florida (Boca Raton) and there are plenty of great places to eat... I think that they could make it over there as well :)
This was our 1st time here. There were 5 of us, reservations highly recommended. Service was amazing. The food was even more amazing, everythingtasted fresh. Whatever you pick to order, you can not go wrong. The kitchen gifted us 2 slices of cake, hazelnut and red velvet, they were delicious, not very sweet and hit the spot. We love Gather and enjoy Fathoms and we definitely can't wait to come back to Next Door. My son got the waygu filet (omg my next order), my husband got the chicken parm and I got the scallops. Each dish you could taste the love. Thank youuuuu!!
Here for family vacation. This is a hidden gem. Fresh pasta daily. (How do you make that Bucatini?). Very thoughtful wines and drinks. Grapefruit mocktail was amazing. Service is laid back but they know the menu thoroughly Lyric the server was excellent! Repeat for sure
Went last night for the first time and we will definitely be back! All of our food was amazing! It’s nice to have a place to go to eat that isn’t disappointing. At the table we had the filet, gnocchi, lasagna special and the lemon ravioli special. We were all very impressed!
My husband and I usually go to Gather but we decided to try Next Door. What a great decision, the food and service were AMAZING!! We had the Chicken Parm and the Shrimp Risotto - so delicious 😋. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Fantastic food! A real hidden gem in Cape Coral. My wife and I went for date night here and the whole experience was fantastic! I cannot recommend the food any higher! Everything we ate and was amazing! We did starters, main and the food was so good we tried some of their desserts too! Nothing disappointed! The service was great too! The atmosphere was really nice. Very intimate but a little more relaxed than you might expect based on the menu. Really wasn’t an intimidating place to eat that you might assume when you see fancier food on the menu! With a view of the marina and a nice stroll around it after! Seriously take your lady out for a nice meal and give this place a try! You won’t be disappointed!
Oh my goshhhh absolutely everything is made in house and sooo delicious! Had the wagyu ravioli, carbonara, kale Caesar, and tuna crudo. Everything was fantastic and I’d definitely order it all again. Special shoutout to Amanda and Lyric who were SO wonderful. I can’t rave enough about the friendly service. I’d totally recommend this spot to a loved one.
The best restaurant in Cape Coral. Italian scratch kitchen with an amazing team of people who always do such an excellent job. A special shout out to Amanda, who always makes us feel so special.
Hidden Gem! This little restaurant is spectacular. The service is warm and friendly and the food feels elevated while still feeling comfortable if that makes sense. Highly recommended. And great sunset view if you choose to eat outside.
Absolutely the best Carbonara! Great service. A hidden gem with delicious craft cocktails. Daddy’s Home cocktail is superb. We’ve been a handful of times and we will continue!
This is always a great for a date or a get together! Great atmosphere. I think the menu has had its changes throughout the years, always good. It is pricey but you pay for the uniqueness.
I gave it 4 stars as the portions are small. Veal Marsala was five tiny medallions deep fried with little pasta. Was delicious tho but not what I expected ! Food is great but for the prices should be bigger portions with more sauce.
Beautiful view with excellent service. The menu is limited, especially if you are on a restricted diet. We did have a quiet and enjoyable dining experience. The pasta dishes are very good.
We had a fun dinner here with two other couples. The ambiance was great and the service excellent. My husband and I shared the Iberico Secreto, which was flavorful but chewy and a bit tough, meaning it was cooked too long, because the pork should be super tender. Our friend had the carpaccio, which looked excellent. We had the fog goat cheese appetizer and enjoyed it. The whole evening was really fun.
The service was ok not more then that I tried to call to make a reservation they answered once and the hang up and never answered again The pasta Bolognese was too much salty The arancini was too much dry The carbonara was OK but I didn’t eat that cause it was too much al dente In the salad was too much dressing The main dish of filet mignon with pasta in Alfredo dressing we didn’t even touch that We basically didn’t eat nothing The restaurant is good. They need to work more on the food. And it will be perfect.
Really delicious food. Drinks are good as well, though the wine list is not big. Small place, not super intimate. Server could have been a little more attentive. Update: 8.2.23- still fantastic food and service was very good tonight. Had the grouper and the gnocchi this time.
Better than expected! Better than the neighboring restaurants. The free sample at the beginning was nice. The complimentary after dinner drink was great. The food was outstanding. I think for the price the dishes should include at least a small side such as bread, a vegetable or a small salad.
Disparity! The Bad .. and some Good Venue: delightfully small; but it became very noisy as the restaurant filled. Service was excellent- Amanda, our waitress, who I under stand also made our Manhattans. At $14 each, as was the Argentinian Trapiche wine, it was an expensive libation. (We had purchased the same wine for $3.33 a bottle on a promo at Farmer Joes). Ordered the Asparagus Gnocchi. It does not even closely resemble the photos. Two of us were served the AG with an ample helping of 14 gnocchi. It was neither “cold nor warm”. Hot would have been nice. The gnocchi were flavorless pucks; re warmed (?) and tough. There was no evidence of either puréed asparagus (as in the delicious amus-bouche) and the “sauce” contained only a few slices of mushroom and no other texture of note. Poor presentation! Not worth $33! (On the other hand, my wife’s pork cheeks were delicious, served over an excellent and tasty risotto.) We ordered the focaccia and garlic knot appetizer ($14). Are you kidding? Yuk! No further comment. In summary Next Door is not the pasta haven reviewers tout. The whole experience was extremely pricey for their offerings. Amidst all of the Cape’s competition, I don’t think this restaurant will survive after it’s initial hupalah wears off.
Not our first time eating here as we visit Cape Coral a couple of times a year and always make sure we eat here. On Tuesday, stopped in to make a reservation for Wednesday. Res made and as we were leaving, another server yelled they were closed for a private party Wednesday so we changed res to Thursday. Get to restaurant at 4:55 and they let us wait in 88° temp outside till 5:01. Walk in, restaurant has two other tables seated and asked for a larger table. My husband is 6'4" and a small two seater table is not comfortable. Told if we want a bigger table, we need to eat by 6:30 because they have other reservations for 6:30. Young man we were dealing with was rude and obnoxious and he didn't care. We turned around and walked out. They lost a tab of at least $250...but guess they don't need the money. Bye Nextdoor....you'll never see us again!
Arrived with a $200 birthday gift certificate sat down ready for cocktails and a nice dinner and the waitress/manager asked me to get up and wait at the entrance door I wasn't sure what was happening there wasnt a wait for hostess sign anywhere. I was advised if I didn't get up right away she would call security say what.what an insane way to do business we left disgusted and went to two meatballs in the kitchen were we were greeted nicely and turned around a bad evening to a great evening thanks ryan
We had heard about this opening and were excited as Cape does not have many nice places like this to offer. Unfortunately, the food was bland on both of our dishes and according to the waitress they were here 2 favorites off the menu. I added a piece of chicken to my pasta dish and that alone cost $18????…I could live with 10., and to top it off the it took 1:15 minutes to get our food. This place has potential but don’t forget the spices next time!!
