It is hard to beat the outdoor seating area of this coffee shop right across from the oceanfront. There are cozy fire pits to enjoy in the morning. The coffee is strong and prepared with flourish. I particularly liked their fresh pastries.

Cute little Carlsbad coffee shop walking distance from the ocean. Good pasty and coffee Latte. Loved that they had some nice coffee style music playing. Sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Possibly the best pastries I've ever had. I've traveled to Portugal and Italy and these pastries are just as superb as you get in Europe. Their Chai tea is absolutely delicious!😘

This is our traditional breakfast and coffee restaurant in the mornings. They only have outside seating in the patio area. The food is really good and service traditionally is pretty quick. All of the bakery items are made in house and well worth the sampling.

This was a great find. Food was fresh and fantastic. I had the 101 omelet w/fruit. Super yummy. They have no dining inside, but the weather was great outside. My husband says they need to add toast to the omelet meals, but I couldn't finish the delicious meal as it was.

Great coffee and hibiscus drink. Amazing pastries. The croissant was delicious and the coconut macaroon was incredible and enough for 3 people.

Cute place and I love the fire pit. Food was just ok, we ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich and the egg needed flavor and was really dry. The cinnamon crisp was not fresh, stale and/or old. The mango smoothie was really good.

This morning's coffee date landed at Cafe Elysa. Elysa serves a bold cup of coffee with tasty treats. They only offer outdoor seating, which allows the patrons to enjoy Carlsbad weather. Most of the outdoor seating is covered. I found myself savouring coffee by the fire pit. The fire and the music added to the peaceful ambience of Elysa, where I reflected on life. With Elysa located near the road, we experienced some traffic sounds. Next time you are near Carlsbad Village take a moment to enjoy Cafe Elysa. I look forward to another cup of coffee at Elysa

We stopped by for breakfast. We had the ham and spinach quiche, an oat latte, and a lavender honey latte. The portion size is crazy big for the quiches, and the fruits are fresh. The quiches were not my favorite. The services were excellent. The latte came quickly. The quiches came warm and cheesy.

Good spot for breakfast with very friendly staff and a great sized patio-with fire pits to keep you warm on a chilly beach morning! We had eggs Benedict-they were ok, eggs a little overdone. Spicy omelet with hash browns -average with a really great egg consistency. Cream cheese, tomato basil croissant sandwich-that was really good. Bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich-good. The blueberry scone was really good!

Good breakfast of eggs, bacon & hash browns. Great chocolate mousse. Order at the counter and they delivery your food. We enjoyed dining on the patio.

You order at the counter then they give you a number that you display on your table. I ordered the Egg Plate breakfast with my eggs scrambled, crispy bacon and half fruit and half hash browns. The eggs were cooked nicely. The quantity appears less than normal. The bacon was 70% crispy. The hash browns were cooked perfectly but needs some seasoning. The fruit was hit and miss. Most of the strawberry pieces had brown spots and the honeydew pieces were a little slimy. They brought my breakfast quickly and they have a beautiful patio to enjoy it.

Update: 10/19/2022 Sometimes things change for the worst. I hadn't been to this spot in a while used to take my mom their before she died. I loved their croissant tuna sandwich. To my misfortune they no longer carry that very delicious sandwich. Nor do they carry any tuna products. This is HORRIBLE! Hence, I choose something else from the breakfast menu. I was looking forward to my spicy omelet. Unfortunately, the egg wasn't cooked all the way through. So in the outside my omelet looked cooked, however, as soon as I dug my knife and fork into it the egg on the inside was crude. Making my experience not so very desirable muchless delicious. The Chai tea latte was good The fruit was good and fresh. I also ordered a couple of pastries to go. Neither of which proved to be a tasty experience. I ordered a cheese and blueberries Danish and a raisin cinnamon roll wich according to the cashier had custard in it. No it did not very disappointing. The pastries were not fresh. I have never had a leathery Danish pastry it was tough to chew into. I cannot believe a place like this would dare sell anything that is not fresh same day pastries. These must have been there all week long. The flies wouldn't stop annoying trying to get on my food. Goodluck finding parking Overall one and half thumbs down. They still have some gorgeous gals working there. OH MY HOW THINGS CHANGE! Elysa Cafe a food enthusiasts haven a place where your flavor pallet experiences bursts of pure delicious savory bliss. We really enjoy the cappuccino's here the sandwiches and burgers are delicious. Love the side options your not stuck to just fries. You can choose between salad, fruit, and the traditional fries. Their menu options are plentiful as are their drink and dessert options. I dont think you can go wrong with whatever you order. The outdoor dinning options seem a little dated but its great large round tables comfortably seat you and your entourage. The fire pits help keep you warm in cool chilly California winter days. As you enjoy your breakfast, brunch, lunch, or whatever you want to call it nowadays. The bathrooms are kept up nicely and clean. The staff is gorgeous and pleasant. The foliage is green and the palm trees add a very nice touch. Parking is good. Located in the Carlsbad Village downtown area, very close to the Carlsbad State Beach where you can conveniently go for a nice long walk on the beautiful strand. Highly recommend you take your chances here. This place is great!!!

Always loved coming here. Love breakfast and honestly food is great. Coffee is decent but not great. Lately we always come with our own coffee or get better buzz next door. This morning my wife and with her friends got yelled at by the owner for bringing own coffee even though they ordered food. Not the customers service you expect.
