Elevated Greek Restaurant with a Modern Culinary Experience -- Restaurant Review: Naos Hellenic Cuisine - Cary, NC -- Having traveled to Greece a number of times, this restaurant brings the warmth and family-focused Greek culture and traditions to the Raleigh-Durham area, while offering a modern, culinary-focused dining experience, elevating it to a top restaurant in the region. The restaurant provides a soft-lit ambiance with well-curated dining spaces and an upbeat atmosphere to bring family, friends, business colleagues, and loved ones together to create memorable experiences. -- We started with the roasted beats and soutzoukakia, leading into the main entrées: the clay pot lamb and the grilled bone-in pork chop. The roasted beets were presented in a technically complex way, showcasing the vibrant colors of the food combinations and inviting you to savor each bite. They combined perfectly roasted beets with a combination of manouri cheese to add richness to the dish; the arugula introduced a slight pepperiness, spiced walnuts for crunch, and the ladolermono, which brought a degree of citrus flavor, making it a well-balanced dish of flavors. The soutoukakia – lamb and beef meatballs - were tender, well-seasoned, and cooked in a tomato sauce to create a balance of richness and flavors. -- The clay pot lamb is nothing short of amazing, slow-cooked and seasoned with white wine, garlic, and herbs. Garished with grape leaves, paired with lemon potatoes and fresh dill, the dish offers aromas and flavors that leave you wanting more. The grilled bone-in pork chop is equally as impressive, cooked to perfection – the juicy chop is complemented by garlicky kale and roasted squash, with an apple mostarda on top, adding an excellent mix of earthiness and sweet-tart to create a bold but perfectly balanced dish. -- Given the importance of food, service, and ambiance, this restaurant delivers strong overall performance across all categories. I would strongly recommend this restaurant as an overall amazing and memorable experience.
If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience in Cary, Naos is a breath of fresh Mediterranean air. The vibe is effortlessly elegant, and the staff treats you like an old friend from the moment you step inside. The Standouts: The Meze Platter: The tirokafteri has a perfect bite, and the melitzanosalata actually tastes like fire-roasted eggplant, not just a puree. Highly recommended for starters. Grilled Octopus: It was tender perfection! The pairing with aged vinegar and fava. The Mains: My Filet Mignon was a rare win, which hit the requested temperature exactly. The Rack of Lamb was incredibly flavorful and seasoned with a heavy hand of authentic herbs. Naos is an experience. If you want superb Greek food that feels a level above the rest, this is your spot!
10/10 Everything was perfectly executed. Food was amazing, ambience is incredible and service is top notch. A perfect place for a special occasion and makes the experience worth the hefty price tag. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
Simeone was a FANTASTIC waiter, really made our experience great. Naos has a gorgeous interior and wasn't busy at all when we went on a Sunday night. Food was delicious and came out fast. And to top it off I LOVE the coat check like system for taking home leftovers. Clean bathrooms as well
Update: Took the family to Naos again for the holidays. Another wonderful meal, everyone loved it. Great place for a special dinner or celebration. We went to Naos to celebrate a birthday. It was a wonderful choice. Naos redecorated the restaurant with Greek flair and did a beautiful job, everyone loved the colors, paintings, finishings. We were greeted and taken to our table quickly and welcomed by our waiter immediately. We started with the meze platter and the zucchini croquettes. Everyone loved the dips, the zucchini was more mixed but good. For entrees we decided to order several and eat family style. Glad we did, everything was delicious and we loved the variety. We shared the whole branzino, clay pot lamb, beef short rib and moussaka. Hard to pick a favorite, I would order them all again. Naos is on the pricier side but definitely worth it to celebrate a special occasion.
I was completely blown away with how elegant and outstanding dining at Naos was. This was one of my first times having Greek food, and not one dish underserved. Each plate was balanced in taste, portioned, and had excellent presentation. The customer service left me in awe as I never experienced such detail and care. From being hand served at the table individual pieces, receiving a ticket to pick up leftovers at the door versus leaving a takeout box on the table, and receiving a scented, warm hand towel after the meal, Naos really exemplified the fine dining experience. I look forward to coming back on my next trip to North Carolina.
We made a reservation but only got a spot in the high-top table area, it was fine, though that area did feel quite separated from the rest of the restaurant. The restaurant is nice and spacious. The service was a bit odd; the waitress made some particularly strange comments and didn’t seem to know much about the menu, though she was friendly the whole time. The food was okay, but I definitely don’t recommend the melitzanosalata it tasted terrible. I would just suggest better training for the servers so they have more knowledge about the menu.
Excellent dining experience, all around! The food was fabulous: the mexe platterdips were flavorful, pita soft and warm. The whole branzino is cooked then deboned tableside. The Souvla was juicy and tender. For dessert, can't go wrong. We had the Orange Phyllis and dark chocolate mousse...yummy! Service was attentive and helpful...yup, a great meal!
A true Greek kitchen and what an absolute treat. Naōs Hellenic Cuisine in Cary left a lasting impression from the moment we walked in. From the food to the service to the ambiance, everything felt intentional, refined, and thoughtfully executed. First impressions matter, and one small but meaningful detail immediately stood out. Our server came to the table and asked what type of water we preferred. I personally do not drink tap water, and I truly appreciate when a restaurant takes the time to ask rather than automatically pouring it while I am trying to decline. It set the tone for the level of attentiveness we experienced throughout the evening. The restaurant itself is stunning. Elegant, polished, and full of class without feeling stiff or pretentious. The space feels warm and elevated at the same time, like the kind of place where time slows down just enough for you to enjoy every bite. We started with the Spanakopita and the Calamari, and both were excellent. I will say that lemon is used generously throughout the menu. While I am not a huge fan of overpowering citrus, it never crossed into unpleasant territory. The Spanakopita was not traditional in the classic sense, but the chef absolutely got it right. Perfect balance of flavor, cheese, and texture with an incredible crunch. This is the kind of dish you would happily take home and snack on later. The Calamari was cooked to perfection. Light, tender, and full of flavor. It came with a lemon aioli that was not my personal favorite, but our server suggested pairing it with a side of the tomato sugo that accompanies the Shrimp Saganaki. That suggestion changed everything. The sugo was rich, savory, and completely elevated the dish. For soups, I ordered the beef cheek soup, which I would describe as just okay. Not bad, but it did not stand out compared to everything else we tried. Another person in our party ordered the chicken lemon soup and felt the lemon flavor was too overwhelming to fully enjoy. Now, let’s talk about the mains, because this is where Naōs truly shines. The pork chop. Whew. Pure perfection. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. Nothing extra needed. This dish was executed with confidence and restraint, and it showed. The Souvla completely surprised me. I am not typically a dark meat chicken eater, but wow. The chicken was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Paired with the warm pita, creamy tzatziki, and the fresh side salad, this dish was outstanding. Every element worked together effortlessly. The short rib was the least favorite at the table, but that speaks more to how strong the other dishes were because it was still very good. Savory, comforting, and the gravy was rich and delicious. It simply did not steal the spotlight like the others. The Shrimp Saganaki was a small but mighty dish. The shrimp were truly colossal and cooked perfectly. The tomato base was bold, rich, and incredibly satisfying. Personally, I would have loved a side of noodles to soak up every drop of that sauce. We also ordered the Greek salad and my, my, my, it was so good. Fresh, crisp, and beautifully balanced. The thick slice of feta on top was the perfect finishing touch and made it stand out from your typical Greek salad. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Thoughtful service, elegant surroundings, and food that clearly reflects care and craftsmanship. Naōs Hellenic Cuisine is a fantastic addition to the Cary dining scene, and it is absolutely a place we will be returning to. If you appreciate elevated Greek cuisine with heart and intention, this is a restaurant you should not miss.
Ya’ll! If you are ever in the Cary/Raleigh, NC area, I highly recommend #NaosHellenicCuisine. It was divine. The decor was Greek inspired and the service was above board. I had the Woodfire Octopus with Fava and Grilled Eggplant for an appetizer and Lamb Chops with Lemon Potatoes for the main course. I know good food and this has to be one of my top ten. Definitely going back. Oh, and the mocktails 🤌
What a beautiful place reflecting elegant greece decor. Food was authentic...check the online menu. Our waiter was Jason who was knowledgeable and paced serving our plates perfectly. We will most definitely be returning! Main plates were plentiful and soooo delicious! Give them a try and see what the hype is all about. I would recommend a reservation. Dress was casual but nice among diners. I didn't see any jeans...can't wait to return!
I had a wonderful brunch experience here. The interior is decorated beautifully and the ambiance is so on point. You’re made to feel really special when you dine here. The staff were all SO friendly and helpful, always checking to make sure the drinks were filled and letting us know when items would be arriving to the table. The food was to die for. I had the stuffed French toast and tried some of my husband’s avocado toast. Everything smelled and looked so good, I don’t think you could go wrong ordering a single thing from the menu. The whole experience was such a great one and I hope I’ll be able to come back if I’m ever in the area again. Thanks for a great morning!
Came here for a birthday dinner and it was wonderful. I was incredibly impressed by the kindness and hospitality of everyone who worked there. Upon arrival we were greeted by name (our reservation was pretty early) and given a little tour of the space on the way to our table. The restaurant is beautiful and every detail was so lovely - the lighting, the murals, the music, the furniture, everything fabulous. Our waitress was so nice and very helpful talking us through the whole menu. There are so many great options and truly something for everyone. Everything we ordered was delicious and presented beautifully. I highly recommend stopping by. It’s a special place with incredible ambiance, a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, great service and delicious food. This is a perfect spot for grabbing drinks, a date night, or a dinner with a group. We will be back! Bonus: the dining room chairs are very comfy snd great for a nice long dinner
This place was absolutely top notch! The food, the service, the atmosphere, our server Simeon, ahh absolutely precious!! He knew the menu front and back, he knew what to recommend for us and he did not disappoint. We’ll definitely be coming back, probably going to specifically ask for Simeon 😂! We had an amazing Thursday night girls night!
This is a big night dinner spot. Bar is immaculately run with fantastic service. Dinner with 13 people can be a challenge, however the waitstaff and management know and understand how to run a restaurant with deft skills and a light touch. Our waiter, Jason, showed a serving and hosting acumen you don’t see enough of. The food is decidedly fusion Greek. If you are Greek or have lived there, you will see and taste the unique flavors the culinary team have crafted. Ask for recommendations and if you are nervous about trying something, ask. The waitstaff is incredibly well trained and very knowledgeable. The Blood Orange and Passion Fruit sorbets were good. The Orange was smooth and reminded me of summer. The Passion fruit was bright and paired well with the orange.
We celebrated our family graduations at Naos Hellenic Cuisine in Cary, NC, and it was absolutely perfect. The upscale Greek decor with elegant white and blue accents created a sophisticated yet warm Mediterranean atmosphere. The food was delicious. Our group shared the whole branzino (perfectly grilled), tender lamb chops, aromatic clay pot lamb, and fresh snapper - all expertly prepared. For dessert, we enjoyed the affogato espresso, light orange phyllo cake, and classic baklava. Every dish was delicious. Our waiter Nick was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything needed while giving us space to enjoy our celebration. This was the ideal venue for our special family milestone. Highly recommend for celebrations or any time you want exceptional Greek cuisine in a beautiful setting.
Naos is a lovely Greek restaurant that offers a solid dining experience with plenty of highlights. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting, creating a pleasant backdrop for the meal. The service was excellent—attentive and professional without being overbearing. The food was enjoyable overall. The lamb pot was well-cooked and flavorful, and the fish dishes were fresh and tasty. The appetizers stood out as the best part of the meal, with a variety of flavors and textures that were a delight to try. For dessert, the orange phyllo cake with ice cream was a standout—delicious and definitely worth ordering. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be adding a few more items to the menu. While the dishes we tried were very good, a bit more variety would make the experience even better. Overall, Naos is a great choice for Greek cuisine. The combination of good food, excellent service, and a nice atmosphere makes it a restaurant I’d recommend and revisit.
What an amazing addition to the triangle dining scene. Naos is a beautiful restaurant with the food and service to match. I would give the service 10 stars if I could. Simeon was the best server ever. He really worked to make us feel special and helped recommend food and alcohol suggestions. He is just wonderful. The food is nothing short of amazing and the craft cocktails and wines are incredible. So glad to have Naos in the triangle and can't wait to get back.
The food was absolutely incredible! We are definitely going back. I had the seafood bouillabaisse and my date had the lamb. For an appetizer we had the spanakopita. We had fantastic service and the atmosphere is gorgeous as well!! We both said it was our new favorite restaurant.
Just a gorgeous atmosphere! Our service was exemplary! The Moussaka was the Money Dish and the Branzino was perfection. Chocolate Mousse was amazing too! Our server, Hanna and Lawrence were such a great team. Love this new restaurant. Cary is lucky to have Nais!
The food is so fresh and tastes good! I think the menu has a little something for everyone as well. Our waiter, Mira, walked us through the menu from top to bottom and also gave us some great recommendations. Everything she recommended was 10/10! She checked on our table regularly and was so so sweet! I say try as much as you can on the menu but the salt baked whole fish, orzo and woodfire octopus were my favorites! The dessert recommendation was also great. The flavors in the orange phyllo cake are immaculate!
Beautiful space with a great patio, and service that was truly top-notch. Special thanks to Simeon for making it a wonderful evening. I was craving a sangria, which isn’t on their menu, but the sommelier went out of their way to create one for me. The food was delicious – we shared several appetizers and mains, and every dish impressed. Overall, everyone at the table had a fantastic time.
I seldom reflect 5 stars in my review, but Naos deserves such a rating. From a beautifully themed renovation of the former tenant Ko-An Asian fusion, to attentive service , and creative tasty takes on Greek dishes, the only element is our experience that wasn't perfect was the higher than expected pricing of some of the offerings. Our table of four ate family style with a variety of appetizers, sides, and salads (all describe well by our table attendant, Mira) with the main dish being the Salt Baked fish, which was excellent though expensive ($120 but enough to feed 3-4). I'd call out the Spanikopita (lavosh instead of phyllo dough), the beet salad (good use of olive oil and Manouri cheese) and the affogato (non-dairy lemon gelato) as creative takes on common plates. Definitely a place to which we'll return to enjoy a dining experience!
We had a wonderful experience at Naos. It is a beautiful atmosphere to eat in. Our server was super friendly and good at her job. We loved all the food we tried but especially the octopus and spanakopita. Every item was flavorful and well prepared. Also get the affogato for dessert. So good.
I first found this spot from IG and immediately fell in love with the set up and the atmosphere. A very true an authentic Greek restaurant from entrance to the main dining area. Of course we had to check it out for Valentine’s Day dinner. I’m so glad we did. I had the lamb chops and my husband had Filet Mignon. The food absolutely tested amazing and flavorful. Also, our drinks were great. Our server Clara was amazing, fun and very friendly. We really enjoyed our valentines night at Naōs and I would definitely come back to this cute restaurant.
I'm glad that we made a reservation a month ago. We had such a great time here. Service was fantastic, our waiter was amazing, he made a presentation of menu, he changed our plates, top-notch service. The food was good too. Lamb pot was too much sour for me, but souvla was great. My Italian friends tried lobster pasta and they gave it 5 from 10 just because pasta was undercooked (not al dente). Atmosphere was perfect, gorgeous interior design!
Naōs is not another “Greek” restaurant it’s a symposium of flavor. This is a great place for Date-night, Anniversaries, or Dinner with the family. One of the best places in the Triangle. 10/10 Must Try
This place was amazing! I am gluten free and their menu easily points out which dish has gluten and which does not. We had six different dishes each one well done from the crudo to shrimp and octopus to lamb and beet salad, everything was well prepared and well seasoned. Our two servers were attentive and took care of our every need. The place is large yet we didn't need to yell at each other to have a conversation. Overall a wonderful evening.
One of the best new restaurants in Raleigh!! The space is beautiful, the food is the best outside of Greece, and our server was outstanding. Our waitress, Ksenia, took us through the whole menu, explained everything to us, and pointed out her favorites on the menu. You could tell the passion she had for the food she was serving. And the food was out of the world. You won’t go wrong with anything on this menu. I am already booking my next reservation.
We had a wonderful dinner after returning home from traveling—conveniently located just 10 minutes from RDU. You must try the Tiropita (feta wrapped in phyllo with sesame seeds and honey)! We also enjoyed the Donald’s, grilled shrimp, roasted beet salad, and lamb chops—all delicious. For dessert, the baklava was amazing, and the orange phyllo cake was both unique and flavorful. Liz was an excellent and attentive server, making our experience even more enjoyable. We’re looking forward to returning—and hopefully seeing more Mastika drinks added to the menu!
Food - This is authentic Hellenic food. Fabulous presentation. The menu has choices for everyone. Ample vegetarian choices, too. The Clay Pot Lamb literally just melted off the bone. The Fish Plaki's tomato base was made with the best tomatoes I have tasted in America. Even the Orange Phyllo Cake dessert was packed with so much flavor, not too sweet, not to dry, just perfect texture. Service - Our waiters name was Isaac. Very knowledgeable about the dish. His opinion about the dishes were authentic, and since they just opened, he was honest about not tasting a dish. But when it arrived, he made it a point to come ask us details or that dish, so he does a better job next time. He was non intrusive but always there when we needed him. Even the owner came to our table, spoke a little Greek with me, and was dressed in an amazing attire that only the owner could pull off. I really wish he continues this. Atmosphere - Design and ambiance is of a high-class Greek restaurant. Blue / Gold drawings on the walls. The main dining room has these huge Fabric Pendant Chandelier which give good defused lighting and sets the stage perfectly for a great night out.
Wonderful. Already making plans to bring my dinner club here. Loved the food. I want to try pretty much everything on the menu. Everything we did try was great. We sat at the bar on opening night. Great service. Good ambiance across a few different rooms concepts. You can hear your conversation. There are even spaces for larger parties and a separate room for private events. The staff mentioned there will be outdoor spaces.
Giorgio knocked this Fine Eatery out of the park!! I'm soooo happy it is located in Cary. Everything was perfect - from the best entertaining waiter Simeon, to the art, ceramics, and of course the delicious cuisine. We had the Soutzoukakia (lanb + beef meatballs) to die for - so tender, next the Kritharota, (a lemony sauce orzo, tomato veggie bowl TO DIE for) I'll go back just for that. The red snapper was very tender , finished off with the orange cake. After dinner we sat out on the patio and drank our decaf. Backs up to nice landscaping. Do yourself a favor - and experience a restaurant the correct way - and ask for Simeon to serve you. He brought me special dark brown sugar and Sea salt.
I had dinner with my son and daughter in law. The atmosphere and server were amazing. The food was on a whole different level. I have never had such a phenomenal dinner. Everything was seasoned perfectly.
My boyfriend and I visited last weekend and our dinner service was memorable. The attention to detail with the decor, service and food presentation were 10/10. We left very happy and can’t wait to return and recommend to friends and family.
Naos was wonderful! We loved the tiropita we got as appetizer. The lamb chops were delicious and the salt baked fish was really good as well. I had the orange phyllo cake for dessert and it was good but I think the icecream depends on your taste - it was a bit licorice-y. Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious!
What a 10/10 experience! The food was absolutely delicious. Our server Mira suggested every dish we ordered and we were very impressed. I would highly recommend if you want some quality, authentic Greek food! We will be back!
My search for the best spanakopita in the world continues! When we think of top destinations for Greek food, a few places usually come to mind—Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, London, New York, Chicago, Sydney, and Melbourne. But this time, I discovered a hidden gem in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. The Raleigh area has a growing Greek community (not quite as large as Charlotte’s, but definitely expanding), and with that comes an increasing number of Greek culinary options. So, what better way to celebrate my birthday than with a special dinner at Naos? • From the moment I walked in, I was mesmerized. Naos has a vibe that made me feel like I was dining inside the Acropolis Museum—in the best way possible 😄 • I started with the Spanakopita , which was packed with spinach and feta. The outer layer was unusually thin, but I ended up loving the contrast of the crispy exterior with the soft, flavorful filling. • Next up was the Chicken Souvla , served with tzatziki, warm pita, and lemony roasted potatoes—absolutely delicious. • For dessert, they spoiled me with two Greek classics: Portokalopita 🍊(a rich orange sponge and phyllo cake) and Baklava Sarigli (a spiral-shaped baklava with pistachios). Everything was incredible—from the food to the stunning decor. I already can’t wait to go back!
We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Simeon G. last night at NAOS, and he truly made the evening exceptional. From the moment we were seated, Simeon’s service was attentive, warm, and effortless—he struck the perfect balance between professionalism and personality, making us feel both well taken care of and completely at ease. The entire experience was delightful. Simeon guided us through the menu with great recommendations and a genuine enthusiasm that elevated every course. It wasn’t just dinner—it felt like a special occasion, thanks to his thoughtful presence. The food itself was phenomenal—beautifully plated, rich with flavor, and perfectly paced. Each bite was better than the last. Combined with the stunning ambiance of NAOS—the lighting, the music, the elegant yet cozy atmosphere—it created a night to remember. Simeon G., thank you for making our evening so memorable. We’ll definitely be back—and asking for your section.
Wow, what an experience! A friend and I went here for dinner Dec 19, and it did not disappoint. From the get go, our server Jason was attentive and friendly. We had a few allergies to navigate through (gluten and dairy), and he handled these with ease and an impressive knowledge of the menu. Then we were fortunate to meet Spencer, the self-proclaimed "wine nerd," who directed us to a wonderful bottle of pouilly fume wine. The food was delightful - we started with beets, got the beans as a side dish, and had the barramundi and lamb for dinner. Every dish was thoughtful, well balanced, and absolutely delicious. Shout to Naos for a divine evening out with stellar food and service.
What a delightful experience I have had at Noas…! I have been twice and have shared Half a dozen appetizers, which were all unique, ever so tasty, with beautiful presentation. The atmosphere is so comfortable… For either a romantic evening out or a family affair. I love this restaurant. It is one of my very favorites!!
Beautiful restaurant. Enjoyed the food but is different from other Greek cuisine I've had in the area. Enjoyed the pita and calamari appetizers. The seafood stew was just ok, but a lot of the food on the menu looked appetizing. Drink menu didn't have some basics, which was surprising. I think the main draw is the ambiance. Would go back for that reason & hopefully find a dish I like better!
Beautiful, spacious restaurant with delicious food. It was a busy Saturday night during the holidays, so hopefully that is why the service was pretty slow- it was at least 10 minutes until we were asked about water and another 5 until our actual waiter came to order drinks. Otherwise the food was great, with many gluten free options, and would definitely give it another try to try different items as well.
Gorgeous restaurant but the food is entirely too salty! And this is saying a lot as people normally complain that I use too much salt when I cook!! I could not finish my meal. None of us could. The table side fish was great, but before I knew what was happening, the waiter sprinkled finishing salt on it. Huge flakes of finishing salt. Not needed! The drinks were great, the chocolate dessert was incredible. The sourdough app also stood out and we joked that the bread was our favorite. Funny but not funny given the cost of the meal for four of us. Truly loved the interior of this restaurant and hope they receive this feedback in the right light. This could have been a perfect review! Shame that the salt literally ruined all of our dishes.
Good place with great decor. We had spanakopita, tuna tartare, claypot lamb and seafood stew. The claypot lamb was very good. Spanakopita was very filling and the bread was very crisp. Tuna tartare tasted nice as well. The potatoes in the seafood stew tasted a bit murky but everything else was of good quality. Ambience was good but the air conditioning was not working very well. It was a very hot day so that’s the only inconvenience we had. Overall a nice place.
We had a wonderful experience here celebrating a birthday! Simeón was our waiter and he was quite charismatic, energetic and extremely knowledgeable about whats good to order. He was a wonderful part of our experience and I definitely would request him again. The atmosphere really does make you kinda feel like youre in Greece, you can tell yhe food is fresh. I ordered LAMB CHOPS and they were delicious. The lemon potatoes were definitely unique and unexpected. There's no kids menu but they made some of the youth at our table butter and cheese pasta. My son however got a filet mignon off the adult menu and he ate all his steak. He didnt eat the veggies which is expected. They even gave our party a free bottle of wine on the house. This place is pricey so plan accordingly but we had a magnificent time.
A spacious place with nice ambiance. The food was good overall but some of the seasoning was not well balanced. We ordered the beet salad (excellent), grilled octopus (well cooked and flavorful), spanakorizo (a bit salty and thought there would be more rice), and shrimp saganaki (shrimp nicely cooked but sauce was very salty). Got one order baklava for four of us to celebrate my friend’s birthdays (since we new we each wouldn’t eat much), and it was nice — not too sweet. Service was hospitable but a bit slow. I would say you’re paying more for ambiance.
As first-time visitors to Naos, we had a delightful experience overall. The atmosphere, service, and professionalism met our expectations. However, I must mention that while the appetizers and drinks were outstanding, the main course fell short. I received lobster that was undercooked. Our waitress quickly replaced it with a properly cooked lobster, but unfortunately, the initial issue had already taken its toll. I became quite ill later that evening after just a bite. This was particularly disappointing, as the rest of our experience was nearly flawless. I would recommend that the kitchen pay closer attention to detail. Given this incident, I do have some reservations about returning in the future. Nonetheless, I was very satisfied with the overall experience.
I was really looking forward to my meal here. And I was very disappointed. It started out well - my mescal-based cocktail was tasty, albeit pretty weak with no hint of smokiness. The Greek Salad was great. I was very pleased that it came the traditional Greek way with no lettuce and lots of capers and olives. But man, the Red Snapper was a bummer. It was overcooked and super bland. And the fresh elements of fennel, parsley and other garnishes were wilted and desiccated, probably from the heat of the clay pot they served the fish in. And the puree that accompanied the fish did not pair well at all. Trying to get through the whole filet was a slog. Disappointing meals can be mitigated by good service. But although I was the only person eating at the bar, not once did anyone check in and ask me about my meal, if I wanted anything else, etc. it was almost astonishing how neatly the bartender ignored my presence. The AC happened to be out while I was there - on 95 degree evening. And I understand that can take its toll on the employees. But honestly, if people are paying over $100 for dinner, with no AC, that is when service has to go above and beyond, not wither away like my desiccated fennel.
Took 30 minutes to seat us despite having a reservation, we had to repeatedly ask the hostesses for an update while other parties were seated before us. The meatballs were heavenly, but everything else was lackluster and oversalted; the halibut was overcooked. Not a huge deal at a standard restaurant, but for this price point, I would expect a much greater attention to detail and friendlier service. All the staff seemed overworked and stressed on a week night, can't imagine what it's like during the weekend. Also there's a 3% card surcharge that they don't disclose up front. Only a couple bucks, but it should be accounted for in the menu prices like everywhere else.
