Luogo posizionato strategicamente in uno dei punti di osservazione panoramica del lago di Como tra i più suggestivi. L'alpe Giumello con poco più di 20 minuti di cammino dal rifugio si arriva alla Croce che è davvero un luogo panoramico bellissimo. Accoglienza al rifugio cordiale e se si ha fortuna di parlare con il titolare si rimane affascinati dalle storie dei suoi diversi 8000 raggiunti. Cibo curato e molto buono
Abbiamo appena trascorso un bel weekend di relax tra le Alpi del Giumello, alloggiando presso il rifugio Shambalá, ambiente accogliente e familiare, grazie alla gestione dei proprietari. Spettacolare il panorama, visibile anche dalle camere del rifugio, e cibo eccezionale piatti gustosi della tradizione fatti in casa. Sicuramente io ed il mio compagno ci torneremo prossimamente.
Lasciata l'automobile al parcheggio qualche metro sopra il rifugio prima abbiamo raggiunto la croce del monte Muggio e poi affamatissimi ci siamo accomodati all'aperto. Era abbastanza tardi, le 14.40 ma per fortuna la cucina era ancora aperta. La ragazza che ci ha seguito è stata gentilissima. Cibo molto buono Nello specifico io ho preso gli gnocchi shambalà (con lo zafferano) Anche dolce molto buono Grazie ad un sole meraviglioso ci siamo rilassati fino alle 16. Conto onestissimo Da ritornarci per passare magari un paio di giorni 🧡
Ci siamo recati in questo rifugio lo scorso anno e abbiamo scoperto con piacere che oltre ai tipici piatti della zona, la cucina offre anche i tipici piatti della vecchia tradizione contadina e naturalmente abbiamo optato per questi ultimi. Locale non molto ampio, ma con possibilità di tavoli esterni con panorama splendido. Dispone di parcheggio in loco. Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo.
Gente onesta e brava nel servire piatti cucinati al momento. Ristrutturato da poco con ottimo gusto nella scelta del legno spazzolato. Sicuramente ci torneremo volentieri è a due passi dal parcheggio e a circa 15 minuti a piedi dalla Big Pank. Domenica indimenticabile!!!
Diciamocelo se vuoi staccare dal caldo Milanese può essere un buon rifugio, quasi 2h di viaggio senza correre. Quello che si mangia è tutto buono il panorama è fantastico, 20m di cammino e arrivi alla grande panchina panoramica.
Bellissimo rifugio, ai piedi del monte muggio, raggiungibile anche in auto con parcheggio vicino. locale accogliente e ampia proposta di piatti. I primi costano 10 euro, buonissimi i dolci fatti in casa. Abbiamo speso 22 euro a testa, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Personale gentile, servizio veloce e stupenda vista sulle montagne.
Beautiful place, eating outside on December 29th at 1800 msl more or less is not possible everywhere, considering that the average temperature of the day was about 4 g, I would like to point out that we chose to eat outside, excellent food, wonderful view of the surrounding peaks and the valley, recommended
A refuge located in a splendid position on Alpe Giumello, with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sassina Valley. The interior is in true Alpine style, warm and welcoming, with numerous photos of the owner's epic climbs hanging on the walls. Suitable for intimate meals as well as large gatherings. Excellent cuisine. Generous portions. The dishes reflect the culinary tradition of the Lario area, using excellent local ingredients. Quality house wine is also available. Service is prompt, even with a large number of diners. And if you manage to chat with Mr. Spazzadeschi, his tales of summit ascents around the world, among other things, will encourage you to return! I wholeheartedly recommend it to both gourmets and mountain lovers, as well as those who escape the city. In short, a must-try.
We ordered shambala and pizzoccheri platters. Finally, a trio of desserts (tart, strudel, and apple pie) plus chestnut ice cream. With wine and coffee, it cost 65 euros. Totally recommended.
Beautiful refuge with a panoramic view of Grignone. Located 100 meters before the paid parking. Excellent food and service. Any shortcomings? Perhaps the portions, for us, were generous...we'll return. We'll try the desserts another time. Prices are normal.
One of the best mountain places I've eaten so far. The refuge is located 100 meters below the summit of Mount Muggio: it can be reached by trails from Dervio (1,500 meters of elevation gain), from Valsassina, specifically from Indovero (900 meters of elevation gain), or directly by car from the latter. You can sleep and eat on site, both indoors and outdoors, where you can enjoy a beautiful view, especially if you want to reach the Croce di Muggio, from which you can see the upper Lario on one side and a glimpse of Valsassina on the other. The cuisine is locally sourced, using fresh, top-quality ingredients, and the portions are generous. The desserts are excellent, with the option of a generous trio of desserts for only €7. The house wine and liqueurs are also good. The owners are friendly, and the service is prompt. Highly recommended.
We ate some fantastic regional dishes at very fair prices, and the service was excellent.
A family dinner to end the holidays! Everything was perfect!! We absolutely recommend stopping by if you're visiting Giumello. Thanks to all the staff!!

After a short hike to the Giumello cross, we stopped for lunch at this beautiful refuge. The welcome was wonderful, but above all, the food was excellent! The pizzoccheri were fantastic, and the gnocchi were also delicious. The polenta with butter and cheese was divine. For dessert, I only had the chance to try their homemade gelato (superb), but I'm sure the others are just as good. A top lunch, highly recommended to anyone passing through the area.
I don't know what to say, they leave you speechless! I had read the excellent reviews, and my expectations were different... Lunch today As soon as you enter, the first sensation is RELAXATION, you're immediately welcomed into a warm, tidy, and very pleasant environment. Pleasant and discreet service. The food is delicious: flavorful and soft polenta, succulent meat, homemade desserts and ice cream, and generous portions. In my limited experience, I've never eaten so well in the mountains. CONGRATULATIONS More than fair prices Thank you P.S.: If I may say so, the sign doesn't do the refuge justice; it's a bit ugly, and given the €10 price tag, I'd add a few more slices of cold cuts and/or other deli meats to the house appetizer.

My family and I went for lunch on Saturday after making reservations. It was our first time there. We were very pleased. The place is beautiful and you can really breathe in that pleasant mountain air. The staff was very attentive and kind. I also noticed great attention to Covid regulations. The place and bathroom were very clean. The food was truly excellent and good value. I definitely recommend it and will definitely be back.
Very tastefully furnished and high quality interior. The menu features wholesome foods such as polenta, porcini mushrooms, venison, local cheeses, pasta dishes and a good range of desserts, but prices are very reasonable .
Un rifugio fuori dagli schemi, un menù finalmente diverso dal solito, degni di nota i piatti “della memoria” rivisitazioni di piatti della tradizione Montana locale veramente interessanti. Senza tralasciare i grandi classici come pizzoccheri, brasati vari e polenta. Incredibilmente freschi e golosi i dolci fatti in casa. Un esperienza veramente raccomandata e con prezzi in linea con un rifugio tradizionale! Bravi!
Tutto buono! Dal cibo al servizio. Qui preparano anche piatti della cucina contadina dell' Alta Valsassina. Se volete assaggiare il taroz, il disnà del carboneer o il fugascin siete nel posto giusto.
I stopped in on a weekday for lunch after a hike at Alpe Chiaro. The refuge is built in a typical mountain style, the manager is courteous, and the lunch was in line with expectations for a mountain refuge. It can be reached by car with ample parking.
Ristoro Shambala boasts a truly fantastic location overlooking the Valsassina mountains. While the outside offers an exceptional view, the inside exudes the classic atmosphere of an Alpine refuge. The owners aim to recreate the Nepalese atmosphere they've clearly experienced firsthand, and I think they've succeeded, at least visually. The menu is typically Alpine, well-crafted. The service is fairly casual. Reservations are definitely recommended, as the restaurant is very popular with tourists visiting the area.
After a stroll through the magnificent village of Alpe Giumello, we stopped here for an aperitivo. Delicious cured meats and cheeses served on a wooden board, accompanied by fresh bread in a wicker basket. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch! The cocktails are delicious and full of character. They also sell homemade cheeses and tarts. Quick service and friendly staff. We'll be back!
