Beautiful refuge with a panoramic view of Grignone. Located 100 meters before the paid parking. Excellent food and service. Any shortcomings? Perhaps the portions, for us, were generous...we'll return. We'll try the desserts another time. Prices are normal.

One of the best mountain places I've eaten so far. The refuge is located 100 meters below the summit of Mount Muggio: it can be reached by trails from Dervio (1,500 meters of elevation gain), from Valsassina, specifically from Indovero (900 meters of elevation gain), or directly by car from the latter. You can sleep and eat on site, both indoors and outdoors, where you can enjoy a beautiful view, especially if you want to reach the Croce di Muggio, from which you can see the upper Lario on one side and a glimpse of Valsassina on the other. The cuisine is locally sourced, using fresh, top-quality ingredients, and the portions are generous. The desserts are excellent, with the option of a generous trio of desserts for only €7. The house wine and liqueurs are also good. The owners are friendly, and the service is prompt. Highly recommended.

After a short hike to the Giumello cross, we stopped for lunch at this beautiful refuge. The welcome was wonderful, but above all, the food was excellent! The pizzoccheri were fantastic, and the gnocchi were also delicious. The polenta with butter and cheese was divine. For dessert, I only had the chance to try their homemade gelato (superb), but I'm sure the others are just as good. A top lunch, highly recommended to anyone passing through the area.

I don't know what to say, they leave you speechless! I had read the excellent reviews, and my expectations were different... Lunch today As soon as you enter, the first sensation is RELAXATION, you're immediately welcomed into a warm, tidy, and very pleasant environment. Pleasant and discreet service. The food is delicious: flavorful and soft polenta, succulent meat, homemade desserts and ice cream, and generous portions. In my limited experience, I've never eaten so well in the mountains. CONGRATULATIONS More than fair prices Thank you P.S.: If I may say so, the sign doesn't do the refuge justice; it's a bit ugly, and given the €10 price tag, I'd add a few more slices of cold cuts and/or other deli meats to the house appetizer.

My family and I went for lunch on Saturday after making reservations. It was our first time there. We were very pleased. The place is beautiful and you can really breathe in that pleasant mountain air. The staff was very attentive and kind. I also noticed great attention to Covid regulations. The place and bathroom were very clean. The food was truly excellent and good value. I definitely recommend it and will definitely be back.

Very tastefully furnished and high quality interior. The menu features wholesome foods such as polenta, porcini mushrooms, venison, local cheeses, pasta dishes and a good range of desserts, but prices are very reasonable .

Un rifugio fuori dagli schemi, un menù finalmente diverso dal solito, degni di nota i piatti “della memoria” rivisitazioni di piatti della tradizione Montana locale veramente interessanti. Senza tralasciare i grandi classici come pizzoccheri, brasati vari e polenta. Incredibilmente freschi e golosi i dolci fatti in casa. Un esperienza veramente raccomandata e con prezzi in linea con un rifugio tradizionale! Bravi!

Tutto buono! Dal cibo al servizio. Qui preparano anche piatti della cucina contadina dell' Alta Valsassina. Se volete assaggiare il taroz, il disnà del carboneer o il fugascin siete nel posto giusto.

I stopped in on a weekday for lunch after a hike at Alpe Chiaro. The refuge is built in a typical mountain style, the manager is courteous, and the lunch was in line with expectations for a mountain refuge. It can be reached by car with ample parking.

Ristoro Shambala boasts a truly fantastic location overlooking the Valsassina mountains. While the outside offers an exceptional view, the inside exudes the classic atmosphere of an Alpine refuge. The owners aim to recreate the Nepalese atmosphere they've clearly experienced firsthand, and I think they've succeeded, at least visually. The menu is typically Alpine, well-crafted. The service is fairly casual. Reservations are definitely recommended, as the restaurant is very popular with tourists visiting the area.

After a stroll through the magnificent village of Alpe Giumello, we stopped here for an aperitivo. Delicious cured meats and cheeses served on a wooden board, accompanied by fresh bread in a wicker basket. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch! The cocktails are delicious and full of character. They also sell homemade cheeses and tarts. Quick service and friendly staff. We'll be back!
