They recently updated their menu. More selection now, including ramen. However I feel that their signature dishes are still the better option

There fish ware so fresh, well done clean. Rolls were so delicious, sashimi were fresh and tender. My favorite sushi restaurant. There waitress was so nice and kind. She keep came to table ask more water or tea we ate up all our dishes. Good to go with your family and friends.

Surprisingly, the best baked salmon roll I’ve had in a long time! Did not expect that.

I’m so glad that there is a such great sushi restaurant while charging your Tesla! We ordered chirashi bowl and spicy baked salmon roll, dishes are presented in a beautiful way and they are delicious.

We ordered the hamachi kama and oh my. It was amazing. The fish was fresh, cooked to perfection and the portion was huge. I’m a driver and I have ordered this dish in many states and restaurants and this was, quite possibly, the best I’ve ever had. Our server was perfect and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you all for a most memorable dinner.

Seriously the best sushi my wife and I ever had. My wife is pregnant so she couldn't have the raw fish sushi, and we are happy to report that there are so many options for her to eat even while pregnant, and everything we tried was so amazing. We live a 40 minute drive away (in no traffic), and we will definitely make the trek to Matsu Sushi now that we discovered this amazing place. The food is so worth it!

The staff is very welcoming extremely polite and expeditious in taking care of us. The quality and price and preparation top notch! We are definitely coming back and making this restaurant a frequent stop. The miso soup is large and delicious. Tempura amazing ! Sushi fresh and plentiful. Thank you!

The food was great! Tucked away, we sat outside with our dog and enjoyed their amazing rolls and handrolled sushi for lunch. The service was above and beyond and the staff were friendly and welcoming which made for a lovely lunch stop on our drive home from LA.

My family loves this restaurant. Friendly staff. Always clean tables and well kept dining area. The food is wonderful. They have average size rolls and delicious fish. Prices are competitive. Highly recommend.

My wife and I were astonished with the nigiri. Especially the Yellowtail Toro! Outstanding selection of rolls and nigiri for a great price. We’re all the way down in San Diego and we are going to make the trip again to visit. It’s worth it.

While stopping by Castaic to supercharge my car, we stumbled upon Matsu Sushi, and it was a delightful find. Though a cozy establishment, their sushi is truly top-notch. From their flavorful soup and fresh salad to the delicious Hamachi and Sake we tried, every dish left us thoroughly impressed. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant—you're in for a treat! Their rolls were well made and neat & The atmosphere was warm and inviting. They have plenty of parking and share the lot with Tesla charging stations. I would definitely return, and I would recommend ordering the chef special as pictured called "The Tower," which is beautifully presented and includes premium cuts like toro and even blue crab wrapped in salmon. Bottom line, if you are in the mood for Japanese food that tastes great and won't break the bank, Matsu Sush is a must!

Local sushi place in Castaic! Stopped by for a charge and was pleasantly surprised with yummy sushi and HUGE hand rolls. Big portions for lunch. Good service.

My wife and I just relocated up to Castaic from LA and we love this place. The service if great , the atmosphere is nice. But the best is the sushi is just so fresh. I'm also a plumber and did do some work here. I was eating when the Chief said look on the board and call a plumber I laughed and said I'm right here. We were done eating I went to the shop and got my rig and returned. What I'm getting at is the back kitchen area is very clean.

The quality is always top tier. I moved about an hour away from this place and I still dedicate my time to come here whenever I get the chance. If you want good sushi, good people, and a nice time, come to Matsu!

Love this place but couldn't give 5 stars because I order take out & all chefs aren't equal. Usually the cut rolls I order are visually attractive & fresh, but occasionally they are cut different sizes & sloppy. The last order wasn't that fresh either, so there must be someone on the staff that doesn't quite have the passion.

We had the chef special: hungry roll and a truffle hunter roll. We were delighted with the flavors and textures of them both! So delicious.

Stopped for lunch and charge on drive back home. Ordered bento boxes. Beef teriyaki, gyoza and spicy tuna rolls on one; spicy chicken and mix tempura on other. Good was fresh and delicious. Chicken grilled very well and tempura choices were generous and tasty. Great value

Matsu Sushi gets a 5 stars, minus no Undon, now 4 stars, No Katsu 3 stars. Kinda important when it's on the menu one only thinks🤔

We stopped here on the way back to OC from North California. There was heavy traffic right outside LA so we stopped here to have dinner and wait out the traffic jam. We ordered the dinner 2 item combo, rainbow roll, udon and tuna roll. The restaurant is clean and waiters and chefs are friendly. The food is OK, having eaten from many different good Japanese restaurants in OC, the food at Matsu Sushi isn't too exciting, but OK. The tuna on the rainbow roll was kinda fishy (like not fresh fishy). The price is a bit cheaper than what a sushi restaurant usually charges in OC. Overall, it's a nice dining experience.

The location is convenient, the portions are fair, but the sushi is sweet! The spicy crab sushi was a sugar bomb, so was the seaweed salad and the the salmon rolls. I'm sure some people like the sushi sweet, but I like to taste the product without the flavor being hidden with sugar. The appetizers, shrimp tempura was very delicious and well cooked. This place won't be my next sushi choice.

I won't comment on the entire lineup of sushis we ordered but overall, it sums up to (1) trying to garnish sushi unnecessarily and without purpose and (2) no passion in the way the ingredients were prepared. Depending on the type of fish you order, the sushi comes soggy in lime juice or some other weird mixture of soy sauce. Some have mayo(?) and chili paste on it? What is up with that? And jalapenos on top of sushi? Are you kidding me? Perhaps the saving grace was the eel but that came out cold... And what were those scallops been garnished with? Even worse, Now let's talk about the ingredients preparation. Cold eels, rubbery tamago, tough udon noodles, uncooked tempura... I can go on and on. At least the fish seemed to be on the fresher side but definitely not something that can salvage the masquerade of sauces and lack of passion and care in preparation. Oh, ikura wasn't so fresh and was a bit watery. I have no idea where this 4.5 star reviews are coming from. Won't be visiting again.

We were on a road trip and were looking for a bathroom somewhere in this mall. This place does not have public bathrooms so since we really needed to use it, we decided to order something from here. I was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately, the fish was not fresh and did not have a lot of flavor. The hand roll was not a hand roll, it was more like a piece of seaweed with stuff dumped on top. This place is very understaffed as well, with only 1 waiter working the place. I don't plan to come here again unless I am desperate for the bathroom.

Farewell. Quality in service and buisness in general tanked I've love this place for 8 years. Today was the most silent meal I've ever had here. Definitely hands down miss the companionship of previous servers here. Absolutely disappointed in the bug I was unaware I was eating with. Realized how dusty everything else was. Definitely GOOD BYE FROM ME

They were out of longastino for their longastino roll so I went with the rainbow roll instead and my word, was this not the worst looking roll I have ever come across. I think I'll stick to the other sushi spot up the road. They should also check their soda machine, the syrup mixture is off.

i’ve been going to the sushi spot since I was a kid. The head chef used to be Eddie and ever since he left it’s been slowly going downhill and now that it’s under new management, the prices are higher for less amount of food, but they expect you to pay 2 to 3 dollars for any sauce whatsoever, even sauce that is supposed to come with what you ordered when it comes to to go. I’m really sad to say I won’t be eating here ever again.
