I had the chicken fajitas + they give you free chips and salsa with your order. . It was great, good prices, one of the better serving restaurants in Castro Valley. Congenial atmosphere, all that's missing is some Mexican music .

My husband and I stopped by here for lunch. Food was really good! My husband had a few tacos and I had a burrito with carnitas. The carnitas was cooked to perfection! So much flavor! They offer free chips and salsa with your meal. I also tried their esquites. I’ve never been asked if I wanted it cold or warm before. But they serve it cold or warm. It was really good! Next time I’ll ask for the lime on the side tho. There were lots of people coming in for pick up orders. Seems to be a pretty busy establishment. I’d definitely come back.

Love the place! The lady in the front is very welcoming and always has a smile. She reminds me of a my grandma! Great tasting food and a lot of drinks options

Such a lovely place to enjoy Mexican food at its finest. The staff are warm and caring and the menu selection is nice and varied. It's been a locale staple for a while and you can't wrong with pretty much anything you order.

I ordered online for my daughter and I while we were out for a walk. A shrimp burrito for her and a chicken burrito for me with a side order of rice. It was ready to go when we arrived, and the lady at the counter was extremely nice. We took it home and found everything was delicious. The price was fair. I've spent more elsewhere and been far less satisfied.

Super friendly service! Food taste delicious! Their burritos are amazing!! Chips & salsa taste great too, although could use a few more chips with the meals. I have not tried anything besides their burritos so I can’t speak to the whole menu, but if that’s what you’re craving, this place hits the spot!

After ordering a tray with individual chips and salsa and cutlery came out. What a great way to feel clean and safe during COVID. Whole restaurant was clean and simple. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Felt light and healthy and perfectly portioned. Seems stand out compared to other Mexican food options in Castro Valley.

This place is delish! We went back three times in less than a week. The tacos were real good. Super nachos were not the best I've tried but still in the high quality site. The woman that takes order was very friendly with us. Now that we moved to the area they should be expecting us back quite a lot.

Just moved to the area and decided to try this place. It's so good. They have a taco plate that comes with 3 tacos rice and beans for about 14$. It's really good definitely recommend this place.

Good vegetarian/vegan food. I ordered the vegan taco plate with impossible meat and soy chorizo for the meat options and added cheese with it. My husband had the vegan burrito. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla. The food was very good. The service was great. We will definitely eat there again ☺️

I ordered some delicious food and tried to relax, enjoying the atmosphere despite having my newborn with me. I felt a twinge of guilt as my baby began to cry, which made me take a bit longer to eat. However, the staff handled it with such kindness and understanding—it was really heartwarming. I'm looking forward to returning next week while my daughter has her next drumming lesson. It's nice to know we’ve found such a supportive and enjoyable spot!

I ordered a wet vegan burrito online and the food was a bit late so I did not get it at it's best I would imagine. The filling was dry and I don't personally like belle pepper so the veggie filling was not very good for me. The papas and sauces were flavorful and I do plan on trying their food again and I hope to dine in sometime.

A Very friendly place. Reasonable pricing, and great service. I had the tamale combo with pastor and steak. The pastor was ok, but the steak was awesome! My son had shrimp tacos and really liked them. I highly recommend the churros, which are fantastic. Everyone liked the salsa. Overall this is a nice place, and we will be back.

Service was great. The cashier recommended the cheesecake and flan. Both desserts were good. However the main food was not. The nachos were had lumps of salt, so every few bites, I would taste a lump of extra salt. The meat was over cooked. We suspect because it was at the end of the day and the meat was sitting out all day, dried up and turned black. The rice was stale probably for the same reason as the meat.

Portales Taqueria, located at 3153 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley, CA 94546, offers a decent experience overall. The highlight was the excellent service—especially the friendly and welcoming lady at the cashier, who made the visit enjoyable. However, the food itself was underwhelming compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. The chips tasted burnt and dry, and overall, the flavors didn’t stand out. While I might return, it would mainly be for the great service rather than the food.

It had been a while since I last ate here because they consistently messed up at least one thing on my order. Last night I ordered online. I tried a wet burrito and it was flavorless. Honestly very disappointing. And one of the options I chose was incorrect. My husband was not happy with his meal either. I order a grilled chicken burrito paid extra for everything on it. I got home nothing but beans the outside burn $40 for 3 burrito which is fine but they all looked like this. I call and it’s impossible to get through
