Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Centerville, OH

Ate at Cooper's Hawk last night to celebrate my and my besties' December birthdays. The food, delicious as always. The wine, was 2nd to none especially the Almond Sparkling wine. But the service was what really made our night. We had Brandy B as our waitress. She was fabulous! She was bubbly and engaging, responded to our requests with helpful kindness and was well paced in her attention to us, as we wanted to linger and order after each course. She was delightful and needs a raise and recognition for her efforts. If she treats everyone the way we were treated, then she is proof that customer service and people skills are not dead. You can have great good, but if you don't have great people serving it, then it's not worth it. Go to Cooper's Hawk and request Brandy B!

We met friends for an early dinner last night. Our first time to Coopers Hawk but studied the menu a week early to make sure we were aware of our choices. Easy parking, a very busy wine bar as soon as you walked into the entrance, hostess area busy with beautiful young people happy to see us and open area dining. Casual attire. We ordered an array of steak, ribs, burgers and salmon. Our meals were beautifully served, hot and delicious. The wasabi served with my steak was unexpectedly a mouth-watering treat. Mixed with a creamy sweetness that enhanced the flavor of my perfectly cooked steak!! Robin and her trainee Heather were observant, kind and seemed to have a genuine interest in our dining experience. I did have a Coopers Hawk Margarita instead of wine and it was exactly the taste I was looking for with my dinner but we were offered multiple samples of wine that paired with our dinner. In fact, if you looked at menu, you will see suggestions of wine that compliments each dish listed. We had a lovely experience here. We do plan on going back in the future. 💕

The staff was great, especially Stephanie! My sister and I had a *fantastic* experience with her for our wine tasting. She was very knowledgeable about wine processes. She was attentive as we asked questions and gave great tailored suggestions by way of engaging conversations. Her passion for wine is so felt and made exploring the world of wine really approachable and relatable. She really helped to create a memorable experience for my sister and I that’ll well really cherish. Thanks so much, Stephanie! :)

We had such a lovely time here with Lauren as our server! It was my first time visiting and I was a little intimidated by the craft cocktails and delicious food—I didn’t know what to choose! She had great suggestions and even recommended some modifications, like wasabi butter on the side and adding strawberry to the pear martini. We had the calamari, chicken risotto, and soy ginger salmon to eat—all very delicious! The espresso martini may have been the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend!

Wow, what a great experience. Brought my wife here for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. She started out with a wine flight. Our waiter Brendanwas very knowledgeable and was able to guide her through the long list of choices. Through out service the server brought out different sample for her to try. The food was good. We started with the crispy brussel sprouts. For me, each bit brought on new flavors. The drunken shrimp was ok. The shrimp was a bit over cooked making it a little tough. For our main we ordered the blackened Ahi and the churrasco grilled steak. I loved the ahi. The tuna was a deep rich color and melted in my mouth. The Asian cole slaw was also great. The skirt steak was alright, a bit more seasoning would go a long way. The parmesan fries and vegetables it was served with were great. We ended with a desert, the caremel machiatto brownie. One of the best deserts I have had in a very long time. All in all I would recommend CH. The food was good but there were a few misses in the taste department. We had a fantastic visit. Our waiter Brendan was amazing!

Unfortunately, my recent visit for a family birthday party wasn't the most satisfying culinary experience While the day wasn't a complete letdown, thanks to the enjoyable tasting room. The bartenders were knowledgeable and very courteous Getting in and seated was a breeze, and the drinks were delicious. The egg rolls, potstickers, and calamari were probably the highlight of the day The braised short ribs and risotto were good, the pistachio crusted grouper was good, the scallops were a bit on the tough side but reasonable However, when it came to the kitchen's understanding of what medium rare, medium, and medium well should be, it was a different story.I ordered a medium rare steak that came out well done, and another family member asked for a medium well that came out completely rare. Both of us had to have our steaks cooked twice, and even then, they still weren't right The manager attempted to make things better by giving us two truffles, which were very rich and not to my liking. I would have preferred a different type of compensation. I usually leave 5 -star reviews, but this one deserved a 4-star rating because the kitchen staff didn't get the steak temperatures right. Given the prices here, they should be able to nail the basics

Had a nice lunch with my daughter on Valentines day. We sat at the bar due to the long wait. The entire time we were there all the high top tables in the bar area were empty with people waiting 20 to 30 minutes to be seated. There seemed to be plenty of staff so don't feel that was an issue. The bartender...Jewells...was amazing. She handled alot of drink orders and it was nice to see a couple other ladies help her out occasionally to keep up.

Went for brunch because dinner has never met our standards. For brunch I ordered eggs anyway. My potatoes/hashbrowns were little pieces of overcooked potatoes. The sausage was sweet but something was off about it, and my toast was severed without butter. The only thing good I ordered were the eggs. This place is only good for the wine tasting and monthly wine bottles, with the monthly wine membership.

Valentine’s day service was very underwhelming. Nobody was friendly other than the host. Ordered the “over the border egg roll” appetizer and it was fresh/great! Started the evening off okay. Service from Robin was subpar for a “fancy” restaurant. Took 5+ minutes (closer to 10) between getting a beer, mind you these beers come in bottles. It also appeared she had literally 1 other table aside from ours, so weird that it took so long between drinks. Ordered the filet mignon dinner and ordered the steak medium well. It comes out well done with 0 flavor. (I was incredibly nice as I know it’s not the servers fault how the food is cooked). She offered to have it re-made and asked if I’d rather have it cooked medium, but she could ask if they could cook it more medium-well (what I originally asked for?). 2nd steak comes out and she states she had them cook it more medium well. 110% came out medium, not remotely close to medium well. Once again, I am not upset with her by any means as this is not her fault. At this point, my partner had already finished his meal and I didn’t want to keep having food remade so I just asked her to take it back and I didn’t want it re-made. Instead of bringing out the free truffles (like she said she would since it was our anniversary) OR asking us if we’d like any dessert.. she took the plate, came back with our check and was very short and blunt with us. Again I want to re-iterate at no point was I ever rude or making her feel like it was her fault. She had absolutely 0 reason to treat us this way. I simply didn’t want food that couldn’t be cooked correctly and my partner was finished so we were just going to get some dessert and leave. We did NOT ask for the check as we were not ready. She set it on the table and walked away. Shameful that a server working at a “high end” wildly overpriced restaurant would act this way after I asked her kindly to take my food back, but couldn’t even be bothered to allow us to finish our evening the way we deserved. It also is wild that it took 5-10 min between each BOTTLED beer when she had ONE other table aside from us and only checked on us every 10 minutes. Attached are both photos (first photo is clearly well done, second is clearly very medium) I asked for medium well. A chef at a “higher end” restaurant should be trained enough to be able to cook a medium well steak.

We’ve been to this location multiple times because it is supposed to be a nicer restaurant that’s conveniently located near our home. The last 3 times we have been there, the experience has been disappointing. We met friends there and they were out of the brussel sprout appetizer, which was hugely disappointing because I’d been craving it for days. We weren’t dining late that day. Dinner was at 6 so it’s hard to imagine they’d allow themselves to run out of the dish so early in the day. The next time we decided to try, they brought out my husband’s meal and it was entirely wrong. They took it away and I ate all my dinner before they could manage to get him a meal and when they did, it wasn’t even right. They ran out of mashed potatoes so they gave him something else instead (without bothering to ask what he’d like instead). Unfortunately for my husband, what they chose was a side he had tried before and did not care for. They also ran out of the grouper, which was part of his entree and the waitress commented that the chef was able to find a tiny piece and “did his best” with that. It looked nasty. The waitress was very embarrassed and apologetic about it and said the manager would come speak with us. We saw him walking around the lobby but he never got the courage to come over to our table to apologize. The last time we were there, we stopped in the lobby after dinner to buy a bottle of the champagne we liked and decided to join the wine club. My husband remembered that our waitress had not returned his credit card so went back to get it and when she found out we joined the wine club without going through her, she CHASTIZED him and said she would have made a commission. Mind you, we TOLD HER we were going to buy a bottle on our way out and she never pitched their wine club or mentioned a word about it, but was brazen enough to give him a hard time about joining through the person who actually introduced the idea to us. That was unbelievable to me. The server told us last time that their chef was new and struggling. It seems their management must be new as well since they can’t be bothered to come talk to customers after they royally messed up their dinner. We will try it again another time but if we have another negative experience, we won’t be back. I can’t say I’ve ever had an entree there that I thought was really good. It’s always just been “ok.” If it weren’t located so close and convenient to our home, we’d never be back.
