B.E.L.T on a garlic bagel
Good bagel sandwiches
The Bagel Bar was unbelievably delicious. Staff is great, and my bruschetta bagel was soooooo soooo good. I almost got another one right after I finished eating the first one lol it was amazing!! My kids and hubby enjoyed their B.E.L.T sammich too!!
Bagels as good as in NYC. Friendly fast service and the bagel art all over the restaurant is great. I just wish they had more hours.
Delicious bagels and cream cheese. I thought I was back in Brooklyn. Very friendly staff and good coffee
Such a variety of bagels and cream cheese. Home made, fresh bagels!!! We will come back!
Great food and generous owner. Charles House loves the Bagel Bar!
Best bagels in Chapel Hill. I cant even look at a Brueggers any more.
Best bagels in the CH area. Specialty cream cheese favors
Great bagels, good coffee, nice music. What else could you ask for.
Great service along with some really tasty food. Very clean facilities.
Great Bagels sandwiches and overall experience.
Delicious bagels and cream cheese! When my parents and in laws came to town I bought a dozen assorted bagels and strawberry cream cheese from here. The strawberry cream cheese has chunks of strawberry, and is so yummy. Little did I know how big of a hit they would be! My dad, who doesn't really eat breakfast and "doesn't really care for bready things" even loved them! After they left my mom said they bought some bagels at other places but they couldn't find any that compared to everyone's favorite cinnamon crunch at Bagel bar.
The bagels themselves are wonderfully delicious, the woman that owns the restaurant is very nice too. I have tried almost everything on the menu. Nothing so far has been less than 5 stars. This is the best place for lunch you'll find around Chapel Hill. Don't think it's just limited to bagels and cream cheese. You could eat here breakfast, lunch or dinner and be more than satisfied!
Good bagels, very good coffee!
I love the bagels here, and they make my favorite everything w light cc and tomato open faced, so i get it just the way i like it. they have a great variety, and the cc selection is fantastic. love the people that work there
This place is as close to a New York City / New Jersey style bagel shop your going to get in NC. They usually have a wide selection of bagels and cream cheese spreads. And there is a number of breakfast sandwich options. Sometimes it can be quite busy and sometimes the service isn't the best. It's a little out of the way too.
The food is good but it's a little pricey for bagels. The iced tea was bitter. Quiet place to eat lunch. Wish they offered fountain drinks instead of bottled ones.
These guys are a little more expensive than the national chains in town. But they have good bagels and excellent cream cheese. They do sell out of their bagels almost everyday so beware if you are going around lunch/brunch.
I really love this bagel shop - it's got the best bagels I've been able to find since moving here from Philly. Their selection of flavors is extensive, and their cream cheese is DIVINE. If you stop by at lunch, you should definitely give their sandwitches a try too, they're so tasty!
The bagels here are made by boiling first then baking so they come out with a great crust. The sandwiches are delicious and the cream cheese choices are great, homemade, and tasty. I particularly like the bacon-scallion cream cheese. The bagel bundle is also a terrific option if you need to bring food for the office meeting and they cut the bagels for you which is terrific! Friendly service and good range of choices.
Granted I have not been for a while (since I left the country) but it was hands down the best bagel shop that I found in the Triangle - and as good as many places in NYC. This is one reason I'm looking forward to getting back home next year -- the bagels in Israel are no where near as good!
I'm giving it 4 stars so I don't change the average since I don't think one person's taste buds should matter, but be warned, if you don't love the overwhelming taste of salt, you want a different bagel. I bought a dozen (13) bagels and threw out 10 of them after trying one of each flavor I got. This is what they tasted like to me... Sesame seed: SALT Blueberry: SALT Cinnamon Rasin : SALT (with a hint of cinnamon) I truly could not taste blueberry at all in the blueberry bagel it was so overpoweringly salty.
Soooooooooooooooooooo slow! But bagels are good.
Tasty food. We have been stopping here regularly for years, especially Sunday mornings before church. Recently, the service has gone down hill. Lots of staff turn over. Current help not too good . . . slow and clueless. Also suspect they are understaffed. This needs to change or we will be going elsewhere. Signed . . . two bacon, egg and swiss on toasted Everythings.
Amazing bagels, although they ask for a tip which makes me uncomfortable. They also are very bad about answering the phone.
The bagels are good. The staff aren't exactly friendly, however. We came in an hour before closing and we were told that they were closed and the doors were locked. Obviously, neither was true. We were told that they had sold out of bagels. There were dozens and dozens. Finally they took our order but seemed unhappy about it. The bathroom was dirty. What's going on? I've always given this place 5 stars. I just can't at the moment.
The bagels taste good........the wait can often be very long. No one wears hair nets in the back. The place looks dirty, unorganized and really needs an 'update'. but the bagels taste good.
Every single time I’ve come here (4 times now) they’ve gotten my order wrong. Check your order before leaving. The bagels and cream cheese are good, but not worth the wait. They also seem to always be out of something (lox, latkes, etc.). I don’t plan on returning.
I absolutely love this place, I love the food, and I am glad to see some new faces. My issue is the fact that if the sign on the door say Open Saturdays at 7am, and it's 7:10am and the doors are locked with a cashier standing at the register pretending not to see you. This Bagrl Bar is the best way to lose a customer.
Unfortunately the only game in town, bagelwise. Store looks grimey. Chairs, floors, tables, counters all need a good scrub. Even the ceiling is gross. Bagels are ok but not worth the long lines.
Bagels are still good but not sure what happened to service. VERY slow and the team in back looks completely confused.
Food is good, but the service is spotty. Sometimes the people behind the counter can be unfriendly.
Just waited 20 minutes for a bagel. Staff couldn’t care less. Not coming back here
I have always loved this place, but sitting here waiting half an hour for a Say Cheese has ruined it for me.
Regular customer here for the six years we have lived in Chapel Hill. Customer service has slowly declined over the years. It’s to the point where our toasted bagels will almost assuredly be burned from sitting by the oven too long as the staff hops from task to task, never seeming to complete one before moving on. Today was our last visit for a while.
I was excited to try this bagel place but I arrived at 1130 on a Saturday and they were out of many bagels I liked, such as everything, cinnamon raisin. When I asked if they would be making more the guy behind the counter looked at me like I was talking in a different language. Bad customer service and if u are open until 3 u should have all varieties especially during lunchtime. However the sesame bagel I bought was pretty close to my Ny bagels
I went in around 10 am I ordered a specific bagel and the older lady employee repeatedly said it back to me then when I got the order it wasn't quite how I ordered it so they remade the order but I asked the 'Sid' looking woman (Sid from Ice Age) if I could just have the other bagel back since they were going to throw it out anyway n she looked at me and said NO really rudely... I was like ok... Then when I got my bagel I yelled Thank you so much n again her attitude was very rude barely looking in my direction and said under her breath you're welcome... I'm sorry but customer service is Very important to a lot of customers including myself... IF YOU'RE RUDE IDC HOW GOOD YOUR FOOD IS I'M NOT COMING BACK!!! You would think that after spending over $7 for a damn bagel you could learn a little professionalism and courtesy ... SMFH... ONE AND ONLY VISIT TO THE DAMN BAGEL BAR!
I don't know what to think of this bagel shop. I'd been there a few times before and enjoyed their bagel sandwiches, but last Sunday's visit ended all future visits. I ordered a bagel with raisin honey walnut cream cheese and it took a while longer to prepare than my husband and daughter's egg sandwiches which I thought odd at the time. When I was handed my toasted bagel it had cream cheese on it, but I immediately thought it was a mistake. It had bits of red fruit in white gelatinous goop, not firm like cream cheese. So, I went up to the counter and asked if I'd received the correct order. The man behind the counter insisted it was correct, his voice loud and firm. I returned to my table, ate half of the bagel, poked at the bits of fruit and realized they were strawberries. I threw the other half away. It didn't taste quite right. I returned to the counter and talked again to the same man who could not look up at me while I spoke. I said in no uncertain terms that he did not serve me what I'd ordered -- not a single raisin or walnut -- and advised him that he took a great risk giving someone strawberries who may have been allergic. When he finally looked up and started waving me away, I said I was saying what it was and left. What a shame.
Their bagels have gone downhill in quality. They are so flat! Also, if you get the "everything" bagel, then "everything" falls OFF. Very messy! Not sure how the other bagel places get their poppies/garlic etc. to stick, but doesn't stick on these at ALL.
Do NOT come here on Yom Kippur. Preference was clearly given YK call in orders as there were about 4 bagels left for us unfortunate walk in customers. Time to expand my bagel options.
This place figures out a way to screw up my order nearly every time. It's very frustrating because the bagels aren't bad, but the staff is disorganized and uncaring.
The worst service I was there for a half hour for just a bagel and cream cheese. When one man get his order that was wrong. The person behind the counter did not do anything. The bagel needless to say went flying.
Terrible service if you order a bagel sandwich off the grill. Orders are frequently forgotten, with no apology.
Well, this is my second post about bagel bar, my first is the paragraph below. Thinking I would give it another chance, I came back to bagel bar today. I wasn’t surprised when I saw the 6 people waiting in line and another 8 waiting for their order when I walked in. I thought to myself, I’ll just stick it out... I regret sticking it out. I waited 15 minutes for a single bagel with cream cheese. Like, what are you people doing? Sorry, just seems like poor management time and time again. Wish I could leave a photo see show the lack of cream cheese that was spread on my bagel also... I’m actually waiting on my bagel at bagel bar as I write this. I come here because it is close to my home but I wouldn’t if it wasn’t so close. Every time I come in to get something as simple as one bagel, it takes at least ten minutes, as there is only one register going and often at least ten people waiting in line. The staff typically aren’t too pleasant to work with, and just recently have I been in here when the person running the register didn’t ask me if I wanted to leave a tip on the card.... It wouldn’t be a bad little spot if the employees showed a little more since of urgency, and smiled from time to time. Some as simple as “good morning” would suffice for someone like me. Good bagels and cream cheese though, when they put enough cream cheese on the bagels; I have opened both halves of the bagel before only to be disappointed in the very small amount that was spread on.
Great bagels and creative sandwiches. I frequent this place even though it's usually dirty (filthy windows and grubby floors). They could also increase customer satisfaction by expediting the ordering process. I often wait in what always seems to be a VERY slow line, watching at least one employee behind the counter doing nothing. That guy could easily get something started for the second and third customer in line, especially if the customer at the register is taking their sweet Chapel Hill time deciding what they want. The owner is completely unreceptive to complaints, so don't bother even trying. Edit. Went back after a hiatus. Walked out after it was clear that nobody cared about my order or my time. Store was filthy. Never again, but I expect this place will close forever in the near future.
As I was standing in line waiting to order bagels I watched one of the workers remove bagels from the oven using what is essentially a very large cookie sheet with a long stick on it. Very traditional. What I wasn't prepared for was that after the cooked bagels were removed he placed placed this utensil on the very floor he was walking on. He did this multiple times...and that's when I walked out and decided to post a review (something that I very rarely do). I couldn't help but notice that other posts have complained about the lack of sanitary conditions at this place as well.
We ordered A bagel with cream cheese toasted and thier grac and chicken sandwich bagel. They did not tell us that it was ready nor toasted. The service had this attitude like what the hell you making me work for. Be honest it was much better when they were the bagel on the hill with the old owners. I will not come back here again
I've been an occasional customer for probably 6 years (because there is no other bagel place around) but the last 3-4 times, I've been disappointed and am mad at myself for stopping in today. Maybe they are under new management?? But first off, the bathrooms were absolutely DISGUSTING...probably hadn't been cleaned in days. That makes me worry about the sanitation of the kitchen. Then I see piles of bacon meat just sitting out on the kitchen counter for the flies - is there no health department inspection on this? I will not be back and would not recommend anyone coming here until they clean up their act. We need a quality bagel spot in Chapel Hill!
I love bagels and was excited to find a local place as I just recently moved here. The customer service was really, really lacking. No one wanted to be there and it seems outdated. They asked for a tip upon checkout which was odd and then the $10! salmon bagel was sub par...
I'm new in town and I have a Sunday bagel tradition. I arrived at 2 p.m., an hour before this place closes. When I walked in to order a sandwich, the front desk guy proceeded to tell me they're closing so they can't make any of the sandwiches. He told me they tend to close early on the weekends. If that's the case, they should change their hours, especially on their Google Search results. I sat in my car for a bit after I left and witnessed multiple people enter and leave empty handed. One woman was told they ran out of bagels which was a lie because there were plenty left when I was in 20 minutes prior. I'm extremely unimpressed and can't believe how unprofessional this was.
