Emmy Squared Pizza - South End

This was THE BEST vegan, gluten free pizza I have ever had to date! We ate The Larry and it was perfect. The crust was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and wasn’t dry at all. They used vio life cheese and it tasted great. Five stars well deserved, Andy was a great waiter!

Food was great!! Our server Anthony was doing everything out front from making the bar drinks, seating all the guests and waiting every table. We will deff be back!

We loved our dinner at Emmy Squared! The restaurant has great ambiance and is very clean. Diego was our waiter and he was awesome! We started with the Brussels sprout salad, waffle fries, and cauliflower bites. All were excellent! The pizza was the best part. It's very filling and we were able to split it between three people. The crust reminds me of the Pizza Hut personal pan pizzas in the 90s....so good!!

The Detroit-style gluten free MVP with sausage and pepperoni from Emmy Squared was one of the most divine gluten free pizza experiences I’ve ever had. The vodka sauce and crust were unlike anything I’ve ever had in the best possible way (so much so I double checked that it was gluten free)! Best pizza in the south! I cannot wait to visit here again!

Reeeeeeeally good pizza. We were visiting from NYC and had actually never had Emmy Squared despite them staring in Brooklyn. Very impressed. We had a regular margarita and a gluten free vodka, both were incredible. Highly recommend.

The best gluten free pizza I have ever had by a landslide (and I have been GF for 15 years). I had to double check that it was gluten free because it looked so good. It was thick, airy, flavorful, and crisp on the outside. Worth the price!

I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Emmy Squared. The pizza is absolutely incredible. After having raved about it to my family when they were visiting from NY, I took them to try it out for themselves. My sister is gluten free so we ordered all of the pizza with gluten free dough. I was hesitant in doing so since the dough is the best part (a more airy Sicilian style) and I was nervous that it might not be the same. But I was pleasantly surprised that the gluten free pizza was just as good- I probably wouldn’t have even noticed the difference. Highly recommend.

The Big Ang pizza was out of this world delicious. I would definitely order again and would highly recommend it to anyone else. We also tried the crispy chicken crunches. They had a little kick to them, which made them even more appealing to us. I'd urge anyone to give this place a try.

Absolutely fantastic Detroit style pizza!!! The crust and cheese are just amazing!!! Worth the drive from Hickory!! We had the MVP and the Good Paulie. The toppings were fresh and there was a generous amount of them. Highly recommend if you enjoy thick crust pizza.

Special shout out to our server, Zara!!!!! She was so sweet had the best recommendations. I am very appreciative of her service and hospitality for our group! Was not my first time at Emmy’s but she made it memorable. We get the Colony pizza and some other great recommendations! Thanks again!

What a freakin DELICIOUS night!! We were out celebrating my brother-in-law’s birthday and changed our dinner plans for Emmy’s award winning burger for the birthday guy - he was elated. Yves made the magic happen yet again in the kitchen that we had to order another two burgers for the table. We’ve been a few times before and Anthony at the bar is always a home run, the passion fruit tequila frothy cocktail is just 👌👌. So thank you guys for making sure we delivered on the promise of “the best burger EVER” for his birthday. Don’t miss this place - the chicken parm sandwich and cupped pepperoni/jalapeño pizza were also top faves. 👏

I became gluten free about 6 months ago. This is the BEST gluten free pizza I have tried. The crust is so thick, even my BF prefers getting it over regular pizza. 10/10

Amazing place. The staff is super friendly and extremely professional. The food is always good and consistent. The Caesar salad and cheesy bread sticks are phenomenal

This is the best gluten free pizza I have ever had. The crust was so good I was skeptical that it was gluten free. The place was nice with a great playlist and our server Elaina made it such a fun and welcoming experience.

We were lucky to have Elaina as our waitress. Her service was superb and the pizza was amazing. Both GF crust and regular “Detroit” style were superb. Thank you Elaina! We will be back!

Genuinely incredible food and service. I recommend for any outing. Ellie was the best, she made the experience that much better and we might come back next week just to be waited on by her again. Get the Founders pizza!

Emmy was my very first introduction to Detroit-style pizza, and I truly can’t rave about this establishment enough. Yves, in particular, makes every visit feel warm, inviting, and genuinely cared for. The way he takes care of his customers and his establishment is unmatched. I’m a proud returning customer and will continue to be this has become a go-to spot for friends and family whenever they’re in town. Absolutely love this place!

If you have never had Detroit style pizza, this restaurant is a close as you can get to the real thing and it is fantastic and you have to try it! Lots of red sauce just like it should be. Salad and drinks were great as well!

Oliver saved my life, I was at the edge of a cliff and he reached his hand out and pulled me up, and asked me "how are you today, have you decided what you'd like to order?" Real talk though, he was a great server, top notch service, the food was great and the atmosphere was unrivaled. Thankyou Oliver!

Oliver was an amazing bartender, provided amazing service and helped provide great insight to the area for someone who just moved here. Will definitely be coming back and hope he will be working again.

Oliver is amazing! Very attentive and a great bartender/server. Everyone here is warm and friendly. I always love coming in and they instantly greet with a kind welcome. Highly recommend for the atmosphere and the food is great. I’m a sucker for some cheesy mozz sticks! Come see Oliver and he will definitely take good care of you.

I travel a lot and have eaten at MANY different kinds of places (more than I'd like to admit lol) and I was not prepared for this restaurant. The pizza we ordered was The Founder's pizza. It's a Detroit deep dish with pepperoni, sprinkled with jalapeno, and lightly embedded with honey. But that honey packs a delicious punch that stays with you every bite. Now, I wasn't prepared for this because when I walked in I wasn't thinking twice. We had just picked a place randomly. So when the quality of the pizza and the taste hit me out of nowhere I realized I had inadvertantly stepped on a goldmine in Charlotte. To put this in perspective, I've never been a fan of deep dish pizza. So when I tell you we picked randomly - we picked RANDOMLY. So the fact this pizza has now entered my top 3 best pizzas I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing is wild. I also tried the spicy grilled sandwich (sorry that's the name but the menu isn't in front of me lol) the bodybuilder in me's mouth DROPPED. The chicken breast was easily 6-7 ounces, it was clean, juicy and wasn't overpowered by unhealthy sauces. So if you're a lifter and have some flexibility for a fun meal, this is the place. Just saying. The atmosphere, the music, and the service Is all amazing. I haven't heard music played like this in any other restaurant. Out server Kejana was BEYOND super sweet and didn't waiver once. All in all, this place is excellent. Next time I come through Charlotte I'm hitting this again. I suggest you do the same.

Oliver was such a great server! He was very attentive to our ordering needs, making sure we were ready with the menu. Oliver was super impressive with his responses when I asked about the menu. He gave the clarity I needed to have an amazing experience at my favorite pizza restaurant!

9/10 Food & drinks were great, definitely going back! Plus the service was A1 🤝🏾🍕 My first time there, we ordered a pizza, cheesesticks, 2 lemonade drop martinis & a lemon drop shot and our bill was $106. Pizza is my favorite food so I can’t wait to go back.

Flavor: B Service: C Tea: F Solo dining: A I got the Good Pauline at our server’s recommendation but my friend got the Bug Hawaiian and I thought it had more flavor. Very few people were in the restaurant and service was hit or miss. It is a large pizza so I’d either share or be prepared to take home leftovers.

Pretty decent food. Pizza was a little too oily/greasy for my liking. Laid-back atmosphere. Good service.

Tl;dr: tasty food, good service, doesn't quite hit the value for money. Had a really easy time getting reservations here for a Saturday evening. Ordered a beer, sweet tea, garlic sticks, and a pizza with pepperoni, basil, and calabrian chillies. Service was good, they brought extra napkins without asking, checked on us, and did everything except refill the drinks without asking. No complaints. The alegash white in a can was $8 and the sweet tea was $3. Can came with a frosted glass, which was a nice touch. The garlic sticks were delicious. At $11, you get a solid appetizer that hits the spot. Only complaint there would be the fact that it was a bit oily but that's Detroit style. The pizza itself, while delicious, was where things fell short. A pizza with (too little) sauce and cheese starts at $16. Pepperoni was $3, calabrian chillies were $3, and basil was $2. The only topping that felt integrated to the pizza was the pepperoni. A spoonful of chillies and a half torn leaf of basil was just placed on each slice. Also, don't pay for the basil, it's a stupid rip off. Might end up back there but wouldn't be an easy or definite stop.

I fairly enjoyed this restaurant because they offer delicious pizza, appetizers and draft drinks. I wish they had pizzas with no pork or bacon. Although all their pizzas have one of the two, they were able to accommodate the MVP with grilled chicken instead of bacon. The mozzarella sticks are also great.

Lovely place with modern family feel. Pizza was superb we had the La Mexicana which had awesome flavor. Our server was very attentive and friendly.

Service was great. The atmosphere was nice. However, the food was disappointing. Although the fries were good, we came for the pizza. The chicken was dry and tasted like tofu. I couldn't chew it enough to swallow. There wasn't enough cheese for a cheese pull and not enough sauce. This was probably the worst pizza I've had in Charlotte. The bread was chewy also. I wanted my money back, but decided to take a loss because I didn't feel like complaining. The only thing I enjoyed was the Fenton punch which is just a blue motorcycle. The prices and the quality don't add up.

3 for averaging for drinks and service. Food is really surprisingly below standards. Have been to other branch in town for emmy squared pizza and food was amazing. The experience has been opposite. The salad is to be caesars salad.. and it came as whole leaf of cabbage with prepared sauce on it. I can understand chef wanted to do different deconstructed presentation. But who wants to cut and mix salad off a plate. It was overall worst salad i have ever had. Pizza toppings were good, however the crust had already sagged in and was soggy at best. I love emmy squared pizza but frankly not this branch.

Came here with my fiance for Valentine's. The pizza has a lot of potential, however they only put the sauce on a small portion of the pizza. Would be better if they spread the sauce out. Also, my bourbon cocktail was not great so I sent it back.

Really disappointed in the quality of the gluten free pizza. The gluten free crust used to look exactly the same as the regular crust as far as density/thickness. So much so that I used to question if it was really gluten free. Now it looks like every other gluten free crust. Thin and mushy. Not worth $25.

Takes order while I am standing there for people dining in. I ask to be seated and am told he is closed. Horrible customer service. Last time I ate there the food was below average. Way to over priced for that garbage. I will never bring anyone else there or go back alone.

The pizza is great, but the service is not. I’ve had multiple dine-in experiences with subpar service, but the takeout experience was worse. I waited over 30 minutes past the pickup time, was treated rudely, and was told after paying that they didn’t have the Caesar salad I ordered. No substitute or refund was offered, and despite calling back, I never received either. Food is good, but I wouldn’t recommend ordering takeout from here.

Cam in to get a pizza ( ironic ) and they forgot the sauce on the pizza and when I reminded them about it they took it back and drizzled a little sauce on top in a tiny stream and expected me to be okay with it. When I asked for a remake I was looked at like I was stupid and I had explained i have gotten the same pizza from both locations in the last year and a half and had over 30+ pizzas all THE SAME.. not happy about this location what so ever anymore and do not plan on returning and will likely change to a different provider.
