I spent my birthday weekend here. The staff were knowledgeable of the sake, and the ramen was great. The broth in the ramen was perfect, and the beef was cooked to an amazing texture. We were able to take a tour of the brewery, and it was such an amazing experience. The employees knew the background of everything. The desserts were small and packed with flavor. They really made my birthday and I hope everyone comes there to experience this amazing place atleast once. I know I’ll be back.

Such a marvelous find! Adjacent to the IX Art Gallery. We loved the Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Tuna Sushi Rolls & the delicious Red Dragon wings. Highly recommend the Sake flight, all brewed in-house. Makes a great change from the usual beers ;) We need to return to sample their Ramen!

So much fun! The atmosphere was unique and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. We knew nothing about sake and got a great overview. The food was fantastic we tried the ramen, curry, and teriyaki bowls. Highly recommend their take on nachos for an appetizer.

The spacious deck with sun, covered shade, and a fire pit offers a great place for you and your 4-legged bestie! Great menu with ramen, sushi, and small plates and extensive drink options. I loved the sake flight. The rice is what distinguishes great sushi, and theirs was top-notch. I’m also a dumpling snob. Again, NAS’s were San Francisco worthy! The staff are super welcoming dog-lovers. I recommend NAS with or without your canine BFF!

We had such a great experience and got a full tour of the brewery. I learned a lot about the process of making sake. My wife had a hibachi chicken bowl which was very good. I had the tuna poke bowl which was God but it needed a little more flavoring. Waiter brought me more sauce which made it perfect. Our waiter was very good and gave us lots of good ideas of things to do in Charlottesville and hiking.

This place is amazing. They brew sake on the premises and they have a rice spa. The food was delicious. My son enjoyed a few flights of sake. The art work in the building and outside of the area is absolutely amazing, the area looks progressive and very upbeat.

Cool, sexy, friendly, delicious. I’m in town for one night and am so lucky to have taken a chance on this place. It exceeded my expectations. Everything about this place is cool, but not in an obvious too-cool sort of way. The bartender was extremely nice and helped me pick a sake, which they brew on site. Just the vibe and local (!) sake would warrant a five star review from me, but the ramen was so delicious! I can’t say enough. It’s maybe too adventurous for some, but I loved everything about my experience here.

Overall, I loved my experience here. The atmosphere transported you to another place, the Olympus sake we tried blew our minds, and the arts/crafts around the location kept us entertained. Could not recommend this place enough

C
Chesapeake Gustin

This was my first time at a sake brewery. The bartender did a great job explaining how sake is brewed and explaining the differences between the sakes that are made there. I highly recommend checking out this place!

D
David Sherwood

Wonderful atmosphere! We sat up front on a mat with cushions while trying seven delicious in-house brewed sakes. We also tried several great appetizers: gyoza, miso hummus and dry baked wings. It was a lovely fun outing!

Stopped in for lunch and this place is fantastic. I had never had Sake and was pleasantly surprised how good it was.

Great flavors. Tolerated our kids as well.

american asian fusion restaurant with friendly staff and a delightful american twist on sake. i ordered pastrami bao, and duck scallion pancake (北京烤鴨 on a 蔥油餅). Good food, good sake, i'd go back.

Kitchen closed 3-5 pm, but they were totally cool with us bringing some food in (only when kitchen is closed). Great beer and aake selection, the flight can be customized. Will return

This is my favorite place to eat in Charlottesville. The staff is super friendly and they have great vegan options. Best ramen I've had and definitely don't forget to try the inari!

Having never been to a sake brewery before, this was a great first experience. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about something that is always referred to as a rice. Wine however, is actually much more similar to a beer based on how it is made. I would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys sake to check this place out if they are ever in town.

The sake and the made to order dumplings are super delicious! Need to plan another trip back soon. If you are near the area you should definitely take the time to check it out and try a sake flight. They have up to 6 different kinds to try!

My wife and I stopped in while we were at the Art Park and I’ve always wanted to try Sake and was not disappointed! Joey the employee helped guide us and was very passionate about his job! Definitely will be back for some more Sake!

The Sake Brewery has the most amazing, kind, hardworking staff I've seen in Charlottesville! They have the best ramen, poke bowls, and dumplings in this city! Their sour sake is unbelievable. And they host comedy nights twice a month! They have a lovely fire pit outside. And a quaint atmosphere for date nights or family nights. If you're traveling from out of town or are a local, this is a stop you will not regret!

New experience of Sake in America. The sake flight ($10 for 5) is really worth it. This is an awesome place added to other wineries, cideries, and breweries around here.

Fun spot, everything was very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the spicy tuna sushi and sweet baby Jesus sake.

Enjoyed the Sake flight! I would recommend checking it out, especially since they brew it themselves. Food was delicious as well!

Delicious ramen! My wife and I decided to try the mushroom dumplings and they were incredible! (we usually love pork but we decided to venture out haha) we will definitely be coming back!!

The best Sake Brewery on the east coast. Now award winning. Truly creative and traditional masters of their craft. What a privilege to be able to buy their great sakes before their skills rocket them into unaffordability.

J
Jay Crossler

Fun cozy bar and brewery. Has board games and hang out zones for kids. Good assortment of flavors.

M

If your only experience with Sake is the cheap warmed stuff they have at your typical sushi place you owe this place a visit. The Sake is wonderful and the food is great as well.

H

This place is amazing! This was my first time trying ramen and it has set the bar high. I wish I lived in the area to enjoy it all the time!

K

Really cool and unique place. I had never tried sake before but I fell in love with their lemon-mint one Sweet Agony. Definitely get the sake flight, but make sure you have a ride home! During the peak of the pandemic I often did carry-out and the staff was always nice to chat to while I waited.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at North American Sake Brewery, and it was absolutely perfect. We stumbled upon the brewery walking around Charlottesville one day and thought it had such a cool vibe. Then based solely off the amazingness of the sake, we decided it would be the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner. That turned out to be a very good decision because in addition to their awesome drinks the food is AMAZING. We had a great time at our tasting, and the brewery was so accommodating in helping us personalize the event with signature drinks, our own playlist, and vegetarian/vegan selections for our guests. Robyn was incredible to work with. Everyone had an awesome time at the rehearsal dinner, and some of my friends are still raving about the food! Thank you so much North American Sake Brewery! We will definitely be back.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting North America Sake Brewery during my vacation, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience. As someone who enjoys exploring local breweries and restaurants, this place truly stood out. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The modern yet cozy interior created a perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and our waitress Melissa went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was top-notch. The beverage selection at North America Sake Brewery was truly impressive. We started off with Sake Bombs, which were a delightful and fun way to kick off the evening. We also tried their sake flight, which allowed us to sample a variety of their house-made sakes. Each one had its own unique characteristics and flavors, showcasing the skill and craftsmanship of the brewery. For those who prefer beer, they had an excellent selection of draft beers to choose from. The quality and taste of the brews were exceptional, and it was evident that they take great pride in their craft. Whether you're a sake enthusiast or a beer lover, North America Sake Brewery has something to satisfy every palate. Now let's talk about the food. We indulged in a mouthwatering array of dishes, starting with the edamame and dumplings. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and the dumplings were perfectly cooked with a delectable filling. The kimchee had just the right amount of spice and tang, adding a delightful kick to the meal. As for the main course, we ordered the spicy ramen and a poke bowl. The ramen was packed with flavor and had a nice heat to it, making it a satisfying choice for those who enjoy a bit of spice. The poke bowl was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh ingredients. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors and textures. Throughout the meal, Melissa provided exceptional service. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a fantastic dining experience. Her recommendations for local bars to visit afterwards were greatly appreciated and added an extra touch of personalized service. Overall, North America Sake Brewery exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of outstanding beverages, delicious food, and exceptional service made for a truly memorable evening. We are already looking forward to returning in the future and will wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone in the area or visiting. If you're searching for a remarkable brewery and restaurant experience, look no further than North America Sake Brewery.

Having lived in Charlottesville, I LOVE this place and was so excited to bring my sister here for her bachelorette weekend! We were able to reserve a table for 10 same day and had a great experience. Thank you to Caleb for making it so fun and to everyone else as well- the food, service and of course, the sake, were incredible. 10/10!

C
Catherine Adams

Super chill atmosphere with great vegan options! The sake was top notch but the ramen and rice dishes were even better!

S

I would give 6 stars for service if I could. We arrived a little late on Friday and were told, 'Sorry, unless you have a reservation, we are booked solid'. We didn't and left sad....and were chased out the door by the hostess who told us if we could promise to be finished eating in an hour, she would seat us now. Heck yeah! And the food was awesome as always.

Truly the best ramen in Charlottesville. Their funky sake creations are super fun and creative, and the vibe is just awesome. Staff are always friendly and on point with service. One of my favorite spots in town!

Amazing food and vibes! The NAS Ramen and Mushroom and Veggie dumplings are some of the best ever had. And Tara is amazing all throughout the experience! 10/10 will bring everyone I know here.

A wonderful dinner experience tonight! The food was fantastic. The seaweed salad is my favorite. Request Tara as your server-she is terrific!

One of our favorite places to eat in Charlottesville! Cozy atmosphere with warm lighting, really tasty sake, and a limited but delicious menu with great ramen and rice dish options (the sushi board appetizers are generous enough for a meal!). Highly recommend, especially for a date night.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary while we are on the road while moving. I found it on the find me gluten free app, as I have celiac disease. I did end up getting glutened, however, this was absolutely the best customer service experience I have ever had when I have gotten sick from gluten cross contact. They were so attentive and sweet and handled the issue promptly. My husband (who does not have celiac disease) loved his food. He always feels bad if we go somewhere and I can’t eat or I end up getting sick but he also agreed that the staff here handled the mistake in the best way he has seen so far. Even though I did get sick, I trust by the way they handled it that they will investigate thoroughly for the safety of others. We will remember this and when we pass through again my husband will definitely eat with y’all again. I’ll have some sake still :) (I didn’t catch the names of the waitress and manager who helped us, but shout out to them and thank you for the tums, pickled ginger, and ginger beer to help my stomach!)

The ramen here is outstanding—deep, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and well-balanced toppings. Both traditional and vegan bowl was rich and satisfying. I was impressed by the vegan ramen, which had real depth and wasn’t just an afterthought. Their sake is brewed in-house and it’s fantastic. This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves quality food and drink.

This was a great experience. And it was a great experience because of Robyn. She is clearly passionate about what she does, and she goes into the history of the building, the chef, the saki extraordinair, etc. We went to 3 different places today and this was by far the best experience. Thank you Robyn for recognizing that some people want the experience and not just the product. Hats off to you for creating that for us.

N
Nora Wong

Tried their four different ramen bowls. Just the right amount of salt and chew to the noodles, but could use a little more pork flavor and hotter temperature. It was at best warm to luke warm. The restaurant was busy, so host and the one waitress were running around. Tables weren't cleared quickly after people leave. Sake and Giant Mule were spot on. Cheers!

R
Rick Adkins

Well this is our first and only Sake brewery that we've ever visited. If you really like Sake and/or the kitchen was open this could have easily been a 5 star review. We tried a flight of 6, which was all flavors available. One interesting note is that all the different styles we tasted start from the same rice base, but there are differences in how it's milled and fermented that make the different flavors. Anyway our favorite was a toss up between Olympus and Bad Baby. They also have plenty of good indoor and outdoor seating. Shame the kitchen was not open as I've seen good reviews.

Beautiful place. Nice date idea. Great bar menu and a good place to try the sake flights if you like Sake! I would say the ramen is “Asian Inspired” but it gives me the Dragons Den Bobba vibes. Broth tasted like 100% all soy sauce and noodles were pretty tough to chew. Might come back for the drinks but not the food. Was not expecting the hard core heavy metal music in a ramen place but I guess workers should be able to vibe to their own thing at work.

K
Kiki Flaig

I’m no Sake expert so it’s kinda hard for me to judge if this is actually good Sake. That said, i did really enjoy about half of the ones I tasted in our flight. I especially liked the Serenity Now and the wings.

K
Kristi Ellis

Customer service was great, the workers were very attentive. Food was good which is what I went for as I’m not a sake fan, but even found one that was almost enjoyable.

M
Marti Smith

Vegan options! Had veggie dumplings and veggie rice bowl and added their smoked tofu. Was fantastic. Rainy Friday dinner with reasonable gathering. Service was really helpful and knowledgeable and the food was hot and quick. Really enjoyed this place. Big Baby Sake was wonderful too.

K

Gotta somehow let people know that food isn't served until 5! Walked quite a ways to this place only to find we couldn't get the sushi we were craving. Sake is great though. Finding this place can be tricky. It's beneath ThreeNotchd

D

I really wish I could rate this place higher. The staff and environment were great. But the teriyaki chicken with rice was not that great - the chicken was kind of tough/woody and had a strange taste through it, and the sauce kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Kind of reminds me of something out of a crock pot. On top of that, it was $18 dollars.

M
MWOFIRE 123

Sake was good and the atmosphere was excellent. They had some really cool seating up front. However the service was really bad. We were seated and forgotten about until after 20 mins I went up and asked for help. Our server was very slow and never checked in through our meal. We hope to go again and see if it was a fluke since it is a really cool place to go.

D
Devanshi Mehta

Had a terrible experience at C Sake. The waitress was extremely rude and dismissive. My friends and I tried to be polite, but she accused my friend of “mansplaining” when he was just speaking. She also left the card machine with us and didn’t even wait for the transaction to go through. Her attitude felt not just unprofessional but also targeted—she treated us differently from other customers, which made us uncomfortable. Definitely not coming back.
