BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse - Charlottesville

We decided to stop in for lunch for our first visit and it was amazing! They even had a Gluten-Free menu which was super helpful to pick something out for our Gluten intolerant toddler. Waiters are quick also and friendly amotsphere.

I always have an amazing experience here. The vibe,the beer selection, is second to none. Having a delicious deep dish pizza. Carl is phenomenal. He's professional, friendly, attentive. Just a overall gentleman!!

We tried the holiday dinner for the first time, it was a great event but the weather was terrible so many people cancelled. Definitely their loss. Every course had a great beer pairing, tasted wonderful, and cooked to perfection. Since it was a special event with a fixed menu each beer pairing had a nice background told to us by Joshua Salvator who facilitated the event with great professionalism and humor, despite the challenges the weather imposed. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for their next event.

Janice is here and it's her 2nd day and she is the main reason why we sat down plus ordered drinks and order food because of they way she greeted and welcome me as a new guest to BJs for the 1st time. Gratitude for great customer service at stonefield and it is hard to find. I will return and do more business. Give her a raise and promotion quickly! I just came to ask a question but became a customer of Bjs. Shout out to Justin too

The food is amazing! The Parm Crusted Chicken is one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. Service was spectacular! I wish I gotten our server's name, but he was attentive without being overbearing, & we were not pressured to leave after we'd gotten the check. Will definitely be back!

The food has been so good every time we visit! Me and my daughter usually go during lunch time and always get a small meal and split a pizookie! Justin was who served us this last time and made my daughter feel included by giving her space to order on her own. He gave special attention to the changes we made with our meals when ordering and made sure everything came out perfect. I was also very pleased to see a manager walking the dining room during our time there, as well. I enjoy people-watching and the atmosphere was light and happy with laughter the entire time we were there!

Went Apple picking and looked for a place for an afternoon meal. Nice selection of beer. Had fried calamari and it was crispy along with delicious marinara and tarter sauces. Also had a Lettuce wedge salad with steak which was also very good. We sat at the bar and Carl took very good care of us!

John is phenomenal. My friends and I have been here several times and we always look forward to John being our server. He's attentive and personable and keeps us coming back.

It has been a while since we have been here, and the service and speed has improved quite a bit! Server was very attentive, and food was delicious. We are glad we gave it a try again!

Very pleasurable experience. Kierra was very professional, pleasant and very knowledgeable about menu. She made great recommendations which turned out to be perfect for our family. Definitely would recommend BJ’s for a place of dining.

We come to Charlottesville often for doctors appointments. Today we chose BJs for lunch and it was fantastic (as my son would say). We got the smash burgers with the pizooke. Took one pizookie home and ate one there.

I miss the root beer glaze wings, but Katie’s suggestion for the honey bbq as a substitute was top notch. This girl knew what she was doing and it really made my night memorable. Hard Root beer is my favorite beer on tap. Even got to speak to one of the managers. Ethan made sure our night was going well and we appreciate it!

Me and my friend had an amazing meal. My pizza was well cooked, had an amazing amount of pepperoni and a satisfying chew. My friend said her burger was well cooked and exactly what she wanted. She also mentioned the fries were really good. The mozzarella sticks had a tasty breading and there was a good number of them in an order. The service was attentive and friendly, our drinks never got empty. Would definitely recommend anyone who wants a good meal come here.

Cody provided amazing customer service. He was very funny, professional by keeping up with all of are needs and the surrounding tables even when it got super busy. He recommended great things for are order and over all made are experience very well. Cody thank you so much!

I had an excellent dining experience at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse! The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, perfect for both casual meals and group gatherings. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was great and don’t skip dessert the Pizookie is a must! Warm, gooey, and absolutely satisfying. Overall, BJ’s nailed it with great food, solid service, and a fun vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Our service was excellent with Lauren. As vegetarians, the selections are limited. Out of all the entrees and main dishes we could only find 2 vegetarian options. The protein bowl and veggie burger. The vegetarian protein bowl doesn’t actually have any extra protein as compared to the meat based protein bowls and actually has less protein than the others. Would be nice if they could add tofu to this dish. Most of the vegetarian appetizers are fried foods but not all but there were a couple simple salad options. Providing vegetarian options seems like an afterthought here as opposed to any real effort by their corporate office. We only ate here because we were invited to a family dinner. Plenty of parking and lots of tvs for watching sports.

The $13 pizookie meal deal is a great deal. There’s a few meal options to choose from and it comes with a mini pizookie. There are also lots of pizookie options! I had the enlightened Mediterranean chicken bowl which was very good and the salted caramel pizookie was perfect! The service is always a little slow and I’ve only been there late when there’s basically no one there.

Katie and Demari were really hospitable! The service was great and they were accommodating for our party of ten. Food came out quick, hot, and exactly how we ordered :)

Stopped by for a late lunch today. I had Asian Chicken salad. Good portion size. My friend had the cherry chipotle salmon. I had a few bites and don’t recommend it. Too sweet. Ends of the asparagus in the salmon dish should have had the ends broken off. Our server Seth gets 5 stars. Very professional, polite, attentive, and he smiled! He seems to enjoy his job so ask for Seth as your server when you come in.

Our server was fantastic. We have a 3 year old and he was thoughtful enough to take the food order for the toddler with our drink order. The food came out promptly and he was attentive asking several times if we need anything else. Thank you for a great meal.

BJ’s is a pretty good spot to hit for consistent bar food. Our waiter Coty was outstanding! He was very helpful with food suggestions and knowledgeable about the menu items. He got my order right (that doesn’t happen consistently enough so worth mentioning) and it came out timely.

Walked in and approached the hostess stand. The hostess never said hello or welcome. She just stared until I said party of three. She picked up menus and walked off. No follow me or let me show you to your table. Our waitress arrives just as we are sat down. She asked if we’re ready to order. I said no, we just sat down. She walked off. About 10 minutes she returns and takes our drink order. 2 iced teas and a beer. She returns with the teas and tosses the straws on the table and walks off. About 15 minutes later she walks by us and says beers ready let me go get it. Return with the beer and finally takes our order. The restaurant has only about 8 parties eating so it’s not very busy. The person that appears to be the manager brings our food out. Deep dish pizza and shrimp tacos. She hurries off. No plates. We had to flag her down to request plates. The quality of the service has drastically decreased.

We arrived about 15 minutes after opening. Being the ONLY customers, the waitress was quick to take our drink orders. But that’s where it ended. It took 1.5 hours for two people, the only two people, to eat lunch. We stopped here hoping it would be quick as we had a long driving day, but it seemed as though the wait staff didn’t care - and from the photos you can see they had nothing else to do. The food is your average BJs food, so I always hope the experience will win me over. Not this time I guess.

What happened to the food since I was there last in November?!? We got the Classic Prime Rib sandwich with French fries and coleslaw. It was two in my party. The au jus that came with it was so salty it killed my taste buds (and I crave salt, and it was too much)! The prime rib was not fresh. It was warmed up and dry. The coleslaw smelled and tasted like a walk-in fridge. The last time I was there in November, I took half of my Sandwich home to my friend, and he loved it. Today in the restaurant, I was embarrassed to have recommended it! I will not be in a rush to go back.

The photo attached is what is supposed to pass as Parmesan crusted chicken. I have no complaints about our server other than to say that she did not check on us after we ordered & our food took quite a bit of time to come out even though it was a pretty dead Tuesday evening. The chicken was somehow burnt but also rubbery. I mentioned to our server that the chicken was fairly burnt but I was too hungry to wait for another entree & her response is that the chicken is normally fairly dark but offered to bring me another side to compensate. I ate what I could (which wasn’t much) & left the rest. I flagged down another server after finishing (ours was nowhere in sight) & asked to speak to a manager but no one ever came. Once we eventually received our check they did take off the inedible entree & the server apologized again. We come here because they have a fairly large menu but it seems every time we do there is some sort of issue with either food or just poor staffing. Can’t say I’ll be returning any time soon

Don't know why I decided to try another BJs they are all awful. Came in 20 minutes after they opened and there was no staff, but the guy behind the bar(manager?). The building was freezing. Like we had to wear our coats inside the whole time. It never warmed up at all. Food was pretty good and the waitress was nice although she did screw up a few things. Overall though it is not worth the prices they are charging.

We ate here and while I wouldnt say its the worst experience I've ever had but we spent more time waiting than we did eating, I wouldn't eat here again for the price. We had reservations and still had to wait 10 - 15mins to be seated. Once seated we waited briefly before our order was taken and after finishing our food we waited another 15 - 20 mins to get our checks because our group needed to split our ticket. My son ordered the same thing I got and his order was 7.99 mine was 15.99 and I never got a side. My wife's burger was supposed to be well done and was rare to medium.

We ordered a salad and nachos. The nachos were ok, the salad looked and tasted like it had been dressed and sitting in a refrigerator for hours. It was not edible. The bartender was nice enough to take it back and take it off our bill. Instead we ordered potstickers. They were ok, the cabbage on the plate was like the salad - old and cold. Disappointing meal. I would go here for drinks as the atmosphere is fun, but I won't go back for food.

Only good thing was the brussel sprouts that still needed more sauce. The food taste like it came out of a freezer. Food was cold and the avacado egg rolls are gross. Servers are constantly in the back. Not worth the visit unless you come for desert

We dined in tonight with a party of 8 and made a reservation. We were sat quickly and without any wait which was nice. We ordered drinks and waited until our entire party arrived. After ordering, it took between 45 minutes to an hour to get our food, and the restaurant wasn't overly busy for a Friday. There were plenty of tables open. Our drinks sat empty a bunch and it seemed like the server was a bit overwhelmed or busy with other tables. The food itself was decent, but part of one order needed to go back due to being cold, another order came out 5-10 minutes after everybody else's for an issue in the kitchen. That was discounted half off for the extra wait. Overall, super disappointed with the wait for the food and the service . From the time that we ordered to the time that we left, it was almost an hour and a half. Definitely not up to par with what we experienced near Bristow.

Yuck. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is decent the food is nasty. 🤮 don’t waste your time. It’s way overpriced and not worth it.

Second dining experience. After my good dining experience last week, I came back and was very disappointed. I ordered the Spicy Pig Tavern Pizza and it was probably one of the worst things I have ever ate at a restaurant. First of all, it came out missing a key ingredient, which was bacon. I asked the waitress about it and she said she thought it was supposed to have bacon, but the kitchen said it didn't. She looked it up on the menu, the kitchen was wrong. She takes it back and it comes back out with some crumbled bacon bits thrown on it, barely any at that. It was not remade or even put back in the oven. So I started to eat a warm pizza that barely had any of it's key meat ingredients and was covered in pineapple and jalepeno. I had to scrape off the pineapple and jalepeno because there was so much put in the middle and not spread out on the pizza. Didn't bother telling the waitress about the toppings because the kitchen just would have scraped off the toppings like I did, seeing how lazily they handled the other situation. The Spicy Pig, one of the worst dishes I have ever had at a restaurant. The waitress is what saved this from being one star. First dining experience. Great restaurant and dining experience. Food was delicious and the service was excellent by our server Virginia. Wide variety of beer and the dinner menu is extensive. Tavern cut pizza was good although the ingredients could have been spread out better over the pizza. The shrimp scampi pasta was cooked perfectly, the shrimp weren't rubbery or burnt. Will definitely return since the menu can cover just about any dining option; pizza, burgers, pasta, steak, salad, vegetarian, and alcohol; and the service was fantastic.

I normally really enjoy coming to this BJs but I went the other night around 9:45 and got seated right away. I sat there until 10:30 and I had not gotten a drink or anything and I did not even know who my waitress was. I tried to flag someone down but I was ignored so i walked up front and the lady I talked to said well i thought you already got taken care of. We are closed now so we can't serve you anymore. So i left and I was so dissapointed because BJs is my favorite resturant and now I am scared to go back.

I rarely go out to eat and when I do and it's a bad experience, it's that much more disappointing. After waiting for about 10 minutes for someone to come greet us, I finally gave up and went back to the hostess to ask if we had a server in our section. She seemed annoyed and went to go find someone to help us. Another good 10 minutes and someone finally came to take our order. It was a Tuesday night and she only had three tables apart from us. We gave her our entire order, bar drinks and burgers, and it just took forever. The burger was overcooked and salty, and the asparagus I ordered instead of fries had so much pepper on them I actually sneezed! She happened to come by as soon as I decided to ask for fries instead. Never got the fries. After we had completely eaten our burgers, she nervously came up to the table and said she had been waiting for the fries. Instead of asking her why she didn't ask the kitchen for them or get her manager to help her I just said it doesn't seem like the kitchen is your friend tonight. She agreed with me. Someone had put coupons on all the tables for a free pizookie, and it turned up on the bill... no explanation from the server, even though she knew we handed her the coupon... both my date and I have been to BJ's in other cities and have had good experiences, the BJ's in Charlottesville shouldn't even be open. As far as I'm concerned that was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a very long time.

I do not recommend the Charlottesville BJ’s location. My friends and I visited on a Thursday evening to try the Spooky Pizookie. We arrived at 10:15 PM—well before the posted 11:00 PM closing time—but found the doors locked. Several servers were standing near the entrance, and instead of explaining that the restaurant was closed for the night, one of them simply gestured at us rudely. Being turned away 45 minutes before closing was frustrating and unprofessional. We decided to give the restaurant another chance the following day, arriving earlier. Unfortunately, our second visit was equally disappointing. My friend ordered a cocktail advertised to include blueberries and a dried blood orange garnish—neither of which were present when it arrived, despite the $14 price tag. When our Spooky Pizookie came out, the presentation was underwhelming. It was served in a to-go pan, and the “cracking chocolate” was already poured on top, removing the fun interactive element the dessert is supposed to have. When I asked our server, Nathaniel S., about it, he simply replied, “Most stores put it on the side—sorry about that,” with no effort to make it right. Throughout the meal, he was inattentive, dismissive, and never offered to refill our drinks. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. BJ’s should seriously reevaluate its customer service and employee training at this location.

Multiple tables were dirty the whole time we were there. Our server Rosemary on the other hand. She shouldn’t be a server. It took her 20 minutes to greet us, We ordered everything from drinks to appetizers to our meal the first time she came to the table, and we were there for almost 2 hours. Sent food back due to not liking and she said “well maybe don’t order that next time”. She took 20 minute breaks in between checking on us. We would ask for refills and wouldn’t see her for 15 minutes. Very snarky comments. Desert took 25 minutes to come out. I never write reviews but this was the absolute worst experience i’ve had at a restaurant. I am a server so i know how tips work but she didn’t deserve anything.

All I wanted was a personal pizza. I paid 17$ for 2 slices of the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Little ceasers pizza is much better and little ceasers has terrible pizza. To call what I had a pizza is a disgrace to all food. The service was actually not bad the waiter was very nice.

Walked in and immediately got seated. Our waiter took 5-10 minutes to even come get our drink orders. We ordered and it took a normal amount of time to get the food. My husband ordered a burger medium well and it was burnt to a crisp. They brought a total of 7 fries out with his order, I kid you not. We asked them if that’s all it came with and the waiter informed us they gave us what they had left and they just dropped fresh ones. 10-15 minutes went by, and still no fries. The waiter came back and gave us a $60 bill and told us the kitchen never dropped fries so we never did get them. Just save your time and money and go somewhere else.
