Opinions de Odyssey Greek Restaurant Chesterfield
The food here is amazing! We were a group of veggies & meat eaters, loads of choice for both. Huge portions & fantastic quality. The lady that took our order & remembered it without writing it down! was very attentive but not intrusive. The only slight downside was the noise level, it was busy so to be expected. If this would be a problem, maybe go midweek instead but definitely go! We can't wait to go back for more!
Went to Odyssey on Saturday 23/11/24 as a group of four for a special occasion. The food was great, it was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Very clean restaurant and facilities with a lovely atmosphere but above all the service was another level some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. A must visit if in Chesterfield we will be back
Absolutely brilliant experience. Visited early on a Friday night. Service was spot on, waiting time was perfect. Didn't feel slow or too rushed. Greeted warmly and with a complimentary shot of Uzo. Greek music playing in the background and lots of trinkets from the island really help set the tone. The menu is really nicely set out and helped give a real family feel to the restaurant. Had deep fried feta with a jam as a start and my wife had baked aubergine. They're not messing about with portion sizes here. This Yorkshireman was very happy. Both were delicious. Main course, I had the Odyssey mixed grill and my wife had the Greek meatballs. Both were delicious. Mine was again a hefty portion and I left the restaurant feeling full but not uncomfortably so. My oy critique (and not enough to change from a 5* experience) is that the mixed grill was served with a sheet of grease paper underneath which went soggy and could've been mixed into the food. I'd have preferred this without. They have bottles of Mythos available which is nice and was served in a frosted glass. All told, 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks came to just under £80 and was worth every penny. Will absolutely be back and singing from the rafters about it. Can't believe it's took me this long to visit!
First time there - The place was very cosy and had an authentic Greek vibe. (Was perfect for our date night) The waiter was warm and friendly, gave us advice on what to try, and made some excellent suggestions. The food was gorgeous, no complaints at all. 100% recommend. Its not crazy expensive but it's not cheap either. 2 starters, dip with pita, 2 mains, 1 cocktail, 1 gin, and 2 beers - £107 x
The food was lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly, really nice Greek feel to the restaurant , I myself am celiac and I was catered for very well I had no concerns at all I was being looked after . We will definitely be back again! Absolutely Brilliant highly recommended 👌🏻🙂
First time coming here and it was amazing. Very friendly staff felt very welcomed. The decor was lovely and felt homely and mediteranian. The food was amazing and good portion sizes; you can tell its all made fresh. We never felt rushed while here and it was a lovely environment to be in. Will definitely be coming back.
We had lunch here as a group of six and had a great experience. The staff were very attentive, including a lovely Greek woman who took great care of us. We shared a selection of dips, all excellent, with delicious little hot peppers on the side. Several of us ordered gyros, which were fantastic, and the mixed meat platter was generous and perfectly cooked. Add in a beautiful setting right in the town centre, and it made for a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
I love this restaurant!!! Traditional Greek cuisine, with original recipes straight from thessaloniki. Owners are lovely people. If you like greek food you must (!) go there. I have visited this restaurant several times and each time I was very satisfied. I will definitely return for more. Highly recommend!!!
Greek Odyssey is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming without ever being overbearing. The food was wonderful — full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and clearly made with care. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the meal, and it genuinely felt like a special dining experience rather than just eating out. You can tell they really care about their customers, which makes all the difference. We couldn’t recommend this place enough and would happily return again and again. I’d give more stars if I could. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Went for first time this evening with my lass, food was great, good portion size too, ambiance and mood was lovely, staff very good, very welcoming and attentive. The cost is of a higher bracket (and I'm being picky to just give and honest review for others wanting to know what it's like) but I felt that it deserves to be in that region. You get what you pay for, it's abit higher then maybe some options but it's a better quality of evening. Could be done cheaper without buying bottles of wine and cocktails lol, but was our choice to enjoy the extras. Base meals where star of the show and really enjoyed it. We had a great evening and very much worth it. Thanks for the hospitality guys
A genuinely charming restaurant. I believe everyone should allow themselves the pleasure to dine here. The food is sumptuous and plentiful. Lovely, lovely people also. We go there twice a year. Eat it all, everything is exquisite. We love it.
Great selection of items, everything was quite delicious. Atmosphere and decor were nice and relaxing (after the loud drunk couple left). I would definitely eat here again, the grilled sausage plate was exceptional, such great flavor.
Fantastic first time here and definitely not my last, service was more than 5 stars absolutely incredible. Beautiful restaurant and beautiful food, this place truly is everything you could possible ask for want and expect from a restaurant simply divine
Wow! What a beautiful place. From the moment we walked through the doors we were greeted with a smile and what felt like we were in Greece. Anastasia took care of us, she was so pleasant and so accommodating. We asked about the wine choices and she recommended what a beautiful bottle (also told us what region of Greece it came from and more, so knowledgeable) Which foods where very popular from the menu (so hard to choose) we settled for the famous 'Gyros' absolutely delicious. To finish the evening, my daughters had classic Greek desserts (of course they did) and I had 'mythos' When in Greece! Absolutely a must for anyone who's a foody. We will return.... Yamas!
The restaurant had a great ambiance, food was great and so was the service. The place has plenty of veggie options. We had a really special evening. Highly recommend it!
Amazing place! Loads of vegetarian options (separate menu!) beautiful food, great service. Thank you all for a special birthday meal. I can’t wait to return x
Beautiful place and environment. Delicious food and very large portions. Definitely coming back!
Someone should call the police because this place is criminally good and their grilled aubergine has murdered me and sent me to heaven 🙃 seriously, this place is fantastic! Came here because of the superb rating and it was beyond anything I expected. Service is lovely and food is great! Very highly recommend it
Beautiful food presented well in great surroundings, worth every penny
Brilliant food service and atmosphere, had a truly lovely afternoon meal, could not fault a single thing
Excellent service by very attentive and polite staff, delicious food, great potion sizes. We shared a starter and I had the Gyro in foil and took one home for my lunch as there was just too much food! Still fitted a delicious dessert though. Was about £70 for both of us eating 3 courses.
I can't fault this restaurant. Very nice food. The place is owned and run as a family business I think and the owners' passion for good food and service really shows. If you enjoy good quality, fresh tasting Greek food then go here. Pictured is the beef Moussaka.
Goodness what a great place! visited for a family birthday meal and it was amazing.. lots to choose from on the very Greek menu, I had lamb chops which were beautifully cooked and deliciously authentic. The deserts were fantastic it was a real treat and can thoroughly recommend 👌
A wonderful experience all round. A party of 4 for my dad's 76th birthday. Right from the start the staff were helpful, smiling, polite and couldn't have been any more accommodating. They spoke to us, gave suggestions on dishes when we had questions, and a laugh or two along the way. The food also lived up to the experience, perfectly cooked and the best tasting Greek food. My dad, being a bit of a particular water, was over the moon and said it was one of the best meals he's had. And to top it off, the staff arranged a special birthday surprise once they got ear of my dad's birthday meal. They did not rush us once, and we're happy for us to sit and enjoy eachothers company in their wonderful restaurant. Thank you, will definitely return!
Really enjoyed our evening here. Staff friendly, restaurant nicely decorated with a Greek theme. Food very tasty, with good sized portions. Worth a visit, and you can walk to see the wonky steeple in Chesterfield afterwards.
Arrived at Odyssey early on a Friday evening and there were already a couple of tables in which was a good sign. The welcome was warm and we were seated quickly. The menu looks really good but personally I do not go for the starters in any restaurant as they all seem overpriced. We all agreed to go for the mains and dessert. I had the meat feast priced at £26 pp, it arrived and my first thought was that the meal was small however, it was just layered up so my first impression was incorrect and there was enough on the plate to make me feel satisfied. The meat feast consisted of pork skewer, chicken, pork tenderloin, gyros and accompaniments. The meal itself was delicious I couldn't fault anything that was served (btw this is not one of those places that serve you huge amounts of pita in order to substitute for a lack of meat). For dessert I had the vanilla ice cream served with whole fruit, which I think were dates - whatever, they were very tasty, the ice cream was also very nice, not too sweet. Throughout the service was excellent, the restaurant and toilets were spotlessly clean. For two of us the cost was £73 which included drinks. Would recommend to all.
Great food & lovely staff. Well worth a visit.
Wow, What a gem. My only experience of Greek food was when I visited Tarpon Springs in Florida, what a find in Chesterfield, food was amazing, everything was freshly made ( it’s an obvious tell ) ! 💯 recommend, staff were so welcoming, massive thumbs up 👍
Great food and a lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit! The chicken Gyros were amazing!
Good greek restaurant in centre of Chesterfield, plenty of parking short walk away, food was good, good size portions, hot and delivered to the table with a smile, staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble, really enjoyable night.
This is hands down the best place to eat in Chesterfield. It's one of the best if not the best Greek restaurant in the UK. Every bite transports you back to Greece
Absolutely loved this Greek restaurant – a full 5 stars from me! The service was warm and attentive, the surroundings were beautiful, and the menu had a fantastic range of authentic dishes. The food was bursting with flavor, and the decor really stood out – unique and full of Greek character. A truly atmospheric and memorable dining experience.
My friends live in Chesterfield and so they brought me here for tea. I went for the Cretan Voskopita (Green and Herbs Pie), some sort of stuffed bread drizzled with honey and Gluten Free Pita Bread. I didn’t make the best choices- there were more exciting things on the menu and my second and third dishes were very similar. Service was friendly enough. I would like to go back and opt for something like octopus, though some of the items are dear!
Great location, near parking facility. Nice quiet area, welcoming area. The man allocated our seats as per booking. The lady who must be greek, knee her food knowledge and allergens. Very greek interior, Very cool bathroom, especially with all the technology, this is nice and calm and relaxing. May be group of 5s can be placed in the corner of the restaurant rather than in the middle. Still enough space for me in our area. Starters was CRISPs but homemade with feta cheese and dash of oregano. Nice fresh and crispy. It was light enough and yummy. The Chicken Gyro mmm reminded me of Rhodes Holiday. This really was so good you could taste the infusion of Tzatziki, cucumber, salad and the chicken and soft puffy bread. The fries was phenomenal, crispy yet fluffy with seasonings! I was asked about sauce but I declined, I was in a mood of trying things without condiments... but I'm asian so I dashed a little salt .. The other meal was a moussaka which was fabulous, made in layers but tasted good. I didn't consume any desserts because, well I was full!!! I will say the atmosphere and the lady really made it great !! I am sp happy to have travelled here.
Greek-ran Greek restaurant, the food was good, probably too much bread (pitta). The dips to share were good, but perhaps a bit on the steep side for what you get. I'd probably serve a small salad with the souvlaki's, rather than just fries or rice - I think it presents better on the plate, but also wouldn't hurt as an option. The moussaka was really good, a solid 10/10 for that! I think it was homemade & piping hot out of the oven. Pretty much full marks, but 165 for four people seems to the high-end for me, factoring in that it was only 1-2 rounds of beers. Still I'd visit again for sure, that moussaka really was a ten! Sells Fix Beer (the best Greek beer), friendly staff, & spotless toilets. Also takes card payments. 👍🇬🇷👌
Excellent food ,service, decent portions but thought a few things a bit pricey
The food was on point (with a little longer wait than expected) but matthews service this evening left much to be desired. It appeared he was visably stressed or something else going on entirely. On requesting information in regards to if the crisps we're fried in oil containing gluten products he brushed it off initially and said he wasnt aware. when i made a point that he absolutely had to ensure if we were to order, he sighed and went to check. only to ensure they were and the chef themselves said he should be aware of that by now. wasnt sure if this was an act but he seemed off all evening and didnt seem like he wanted to be there.
