Very enjoyable. I attended with a Road Scholar group for lunch.
Visited twice during our stay in Chiavenna and I'd say that this was our favourite restaurant. For our party of 5 People, each dish that we had was excellent, the highest quality. The Gnocchi Quattro Formagio was just exquisite, like little fluffy pillows of heaven in the tastiest cheese sauce I've ever had. My next dish was Taglioni with porcini and walnuts in chestnut sauce - a little out of my comfort zone as I'm not usually keen on walnuts or chestnuts - it was absolutely gorgeous! On both visits my daughter had the Schnitzel and it was huge with flavour to match and with a very generous portion of fries, fantastico! Desserts were also delicious and a perfect end to each meal. All of this was topped off with excellent service, so friendly and patient and our wonderful lady server from our first visit recognised my daughter and her grandfather in the street the next day and gave them a hearty greeting! A lot places have great food, but great people and service are what make somewhere special. Thank you Trattoria del Mercato! Oh, also, they have the best breadsticks I've ever had, as well!
The Argentinian influence is a welcomed addition although they do Italian very well too! Fantastic food and quality matériels. The steaks and tartare are amazing.
“Argentine restaurant – don’t miss the special sauces with the meat!” Great experience overall! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The only hiccup was that my steak was cooked medium-rare instead of the medium-well I requested. Still, everything else was spot-on. I’d definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve a table.

Great place to eat every kind of food, the meat is where it shines though, it’s the best in the area. They also have a good selection of wines and I suggest getting the empanadas

Wonderful meal, we had homemade pasta and as main course some of the best meat you’ll ever have. Sitting on the balcony along the river, drinking local wine by the glass was an added bonus. Must try when in Chiavenna.
Always love to return for the same dishes. Amazing food as always. My personal favourite is the shrimp tartare which I can’t find anywhere so goooood!!!
We stopped in by chance and had a Daily Menu which was 3 courses for 29 euro. We were expecting smaller portions as it was a daily menu but we were really surprised with wha we got. My wife had Risotto with Bresola, salmon with potatoes and a fruit salad whilst I had tomatoes with mozzarella, beef with potatoes and meringue with ice cream. It was all really nice. Staff were friendly and attentive. Really do recommend.
This is a lovely spot with a nice terrace on the river. The food is outstanding: we had a mixed salad with amazingly fresh and high quality produce, clearly locally sourced. We had great pasta (gnocchi, and tagliatelle di castagne), and a lovely dessert. Great local specialties, nice leisurely service (which is a plus here), and a lovely spot. What more would you want?
Everything was excellent. We reserved a great place on the terrace with amazing view. Waiters are attentive, professional approach. Special thanks to the chef for the extremely delicious dishes and to Miroslava for the service Also, thanks to the owner of the restaurant for the perfectly selected staff . Definitely 5 starts ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we will be back and highly recommend ❤️
I do rarely eat red meat, but here they served a perfect cooked and juice steak that deserve to been eaten. Additionally take the "sciat", local dishes made with cheese ball fried, and the "affogato al braulio" you won't regret 😉
Great service and nice atmosphere. Could be great for a date or an intimate night outing. Food presentation was excellent, taste overall was good. Would try something else in the future if I return
I had the black risotto. I can simply say sensational, a dream come true and an extremely delicious, I really loved every bite and was a dish that I will never forget. We also had homemade desserts and hey were delicious. Each and everyone of the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious food and extremely helpful staff. Only the chef ignored my order how I'd like my steak done (ordered medium-well, got medium-rare instead) other than that it is perfect. I'd recommend calling in advance if they have a table. Especially on weekends.
This place is a must, when doing a day journey from Switzerland to the market village Chiavenna. Excellent and reasonable priced menus and the matching wine are guaranteed. And on top, waiters are very friendly and responsive. Like to go there anytime 😊
We had an all round perfect experience here. I will make sure I go again if back in the area. Well presented and delicious food, kind and considerate service and great location. Reserve ahead for a table on the balcony, its one of only two restaurants in the entire city that has a balcony looking over the river.

This Restaurant has a beautiful river by the side with nice view. Located in mountains and known for varieties made with Rind meat and few varieties with fresh Fish from the river . We tried Fish and it was very delicious. No parking at the hotel, Public paid parking is available near by.
