Great brunch place with beautiful Scandinavianstyle architecture that feels warm, modern, and so calming. It’s the kind of place I actually want to sit and stay awhile. The pastries were amazing: fresh & flavorful. On top of that, the service was warm and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d recommend
Went out this evening with another couple and decided to sit outside. The weather was amazing! I’ll post pictures of what we ate but know that each plate we ordered were delicious! The outside patio is shared by a wedding venue which overflowed into the heated courtyard. Actually is was fun people watching. I would encourage you to sit outside if the weather permits. Our server Sarah is outstanding! Knew her stuff and made some great recommendations. She’s also a wonderful ambassador for the restaurant, its’ owner, the vegetable garden around the corner that provides produce for the kitchen etc. She made us feel welcome! This restaurant is a must visit! Thank you!
I hosted a small baby shower here in one of their private rooms, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The Eden team was great to work with via email to organize the booking. The service on the day of was phenomenal. Our group of 7 ordered the pastry/bread board, an array of their house made pastries, drinks from their cafe, and various lunch items. Every bit of food was enjoyed! I will definitely be returning soon to try their dinner service. Highly recommend the Eden salad!! Their service was excellent - our waiter was prompt, attentive, and very kind. The assisting staff were equally as great, and it was very nice of the chef/owner to stop by a couple of times to check in on our group. They even went the extra mile to print off custom front pages for the menu, specific to our baby shower. Everyone we interfaced with was very kind. Will definitely consider Eden again for future private events.
Such a great place! The service was good and food was nice especially the Eden salad. Tried the pear latte, coffee was good but didn’t get much pear flavor. Will be coming back to visit the greenhouse as it was closed while it’s cold. There’s a large parking lot across the street from the restaurant.
My second time visiting. last summer I ate outside and it was a wonderful experience. Two days ago I ate inside and everything was perfect. Food is delicious. Service is wonderful atmosphere is great. I will come back.
The staff was great. Love the atmosphere. The food is delicious. The monkey is great for one person or to share. Their smashed potatoes (not pictures, as part of breakfast are fantastic).
What a restaurant! Farm to table done right! Didn’t know they had their own greenhouse and got A tour. All ingredients are seasonal. Get their crab blossoms and barramundi! Strawberry pie too! Amazing vibes! Family friendly! @chicagopescetarian
I have been following their social media for awhile since they first opened! Finally gotta to try this place! I have to say all the dishes exceeded our expectations! We loved their gluten free and vegan friendly menu! The flouder crudo was citrusy and refreshing! Esmee arugula salad is sweet and savory! I am not a arugula person but this salad is so good! The roasted half chicken is light and tender. Loved the crispy outside and soft inside combo! And spring green curry was healthy and delightful! Cannot forget to mention their birthday cake macarons !!! We will definitely come back The only thing is that their service can be slow during weekdays
Highly recommend! The manager (Moe) and staff (our server Ameen) were so kind and welcoming! Everything from the mocktails to the heirloom tomato salad to the fish was incredible. Definitely will be back!
Everything was phenomenal. Appetizers. Entrees (the streak was noteworthy) and the desserts were a great treat (homemade mint ice cream from garden mint in a cookie sandwich). You can see their greenhouse from the restaurant, we'll be back! A little loud outdoors on Saturday due to wedding venue next door but no so loud you couldn't have conversation on patio without shouting, don't be tempted to wedding crash.
Very bright and clean ambiance. Farm to Table restaurant that sourced locally. We had a lovely girls' dinner and shared all of our food. The Squash Blossom Crab rangoon and the Eden market burger were really good and our faves! If you are having cocktails- the frozen rose and espresso martini are excellent too
Eden is an unparalleled gem in the Avondale!I've been coming here for brunch many times and blown away each time from their great customer service, menu selection, quality and presentation of their foods, and beautiful interior space. Highly recommend you order their Eden salad to accompany your meal. Highly recommend this place!
We went to Eden to celebrate a birthday and it was superb from start to finish. We had the flounder which was very refreshing and the scrumptious asparagus. Although the chicken was my favorite with the delicious sauce the bucatini is also a must try. Make sure to stir it up to get all of the amazing crab flavors! Thanks Eden for having us.
Loved this place from the moment we walked in! Everything ordered was filling, seasoned to perfection, and the perfect accompaniment to the ambiance of the restaurant! Even when my dessert was in my opinion, too sweet, the server immediately honored my request and sent out another option without the sorbet to accommodate my palette! Will definitely return and bring more people, I know they’ll love the food and experience too! Another perk, there’s restaurant parking right across the street!
Very professional and friendly service, the food is very good I recommend the white bean soup and a sandwich , they have great pastries
The crudo, brussels, and milk bread small plates were thoughtfully crafted and delicious. My striped bass was a tiny bit on the dry side but still flavorful and well composed. I wish I had not mentioned it to our server, however, as it became an issue " to be fixed" rather than the informational memo I intended it to be. I was pleasantly surprised with the touch of heat in the dish as well. The one negative was the time it took to get our drinks. There were two bartenders, and we dined at 5:00 because we had a show to go to after dinner. Having tended bar for 20+ years and after observing the bartenders, I can confidently say that the delays were caused by their apparent inability to move with a purpose. Regardless, I loved the open, clean, and polished atmosphere. I felt comfortable, not cramped. I would 100% recommend this restaurant.
I recently came to Eden for brunch after running a half marathon. I’d been wanting to go for a while after seeing that they were one of the top brunch spots in the city and very gluten-free friendly. After running a lot of miles, the steak and eggs spoke to me. The real star, however, was the cheddar dusted breakfast potatoes. Not only do they look interesting, they taste great too. My girlfriend loved the quinoa pancakes. She’s not one to finish her meals in one sitting, but she couldn’t help but eat all of the pancakes. Ultimately, Eden made for a great brunch. It’s a little off the beaten path, but you can sit outside and enjoy the sun while feeling like you’ve escaped the city. Also, they have parking available in a lot across the street.
We shared a great lunch with our son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids on our first visit here. Food was excellent and our server was attentive and very cordial. My only complaint is that where we were seated, against and facing the windows to the south/west, the sun was absolutely blinding and made the experience a lot less enjoyable. No shades on the windows to change the situation. There was cloud cover when we sat down and ordered, but that changed to bright sunshine when our food arrived! Other than that, we'd definitely go back... but wouldn't sit where we did.
Was truly one of my best dining experiences from the service to the atmosphere and the food being absolutely delicious. I got an iced latte and it was really the best coffee I ever had. I even took another one to go. I highly recommend trying this place out for any occasion you will not be disappointed!
Great experience! I went here for Restaurant Week twice. Once for dinner, and once for brunch. Both experiences were great. There is a parking lot across the street (at the end of the block). We had great service. The cocktail/mocktails were delicious. And each dish was flavorful. Would return.
Came for brunch and sat outside. Service was really good and the food was delicious. Steak and eggs were kinda oily. The fig and blackcurrant danish was really good.
Perfect plating and fantastic taste! When I visited for Sunday brunch, I had to wait for a long time, but my server apologized for the wait and offered a palmier as a complimentary service. When the fantastic dishes were served, the wait for me and my party was completely rewarded. Everything was delicious. I want to taste all the menus in this restaurant, and I will visit again several times for that."
We had dinner at Eden and were thoroughly impressed with their Fall 2023 menu. All the dishes were amazing, but we especially loved the lamb meatballs and roasted chicken. The service was great, and the atmosphere was perfect for a lovely evening out. Highly recommend!
The food was delicious. All the staff was courteous and accommodating.
Eden has the best lattes l've ever had! Their new seasonal lattes are a must-try-especially the cinnamon roll latte and the sugar cookie latte, which is topped with a delightful sprinkle cookie that makes it even more special. Their drink menu alone is reason enough to visit. But Eden isn't just about coffee-their selection of pastries is incredible. Everything is freshly made in-house daily, and you can truly taste the difference. The apple danish and monkey bread are standouts and absolute must-tries. Beyond the drinks and pastries, the food here is outstanding. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for breakfast, you'll be impressed. And the service? Fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, making every visit a pleasure. If you're looking for a spot to grab a delicious coffee and snack in the morning, Eden should definitely be on your list! Highly recommend.
A delicious experience, the menu is inventive and changes seasonally, And if you dined here in years past, you will enjoy this location, it is big and open, and welcoming. The team works as a team to ensure a good quality service. I gave four stars to service, picking up menus, clearing old plates, helping with a small spill, were all a little slower through the course of meal, but the rest of the time including delivering the food, taking orders, and even offering dessert were all up to the expectation. The starters were good, we tried the nosh board and it was described well and the selection was expansive, the octopus left a little to be desired, It was a beautiful plate, but the flavors were a bit muted and octopus a bit sparse. The hamachi was interesting. The other appetizers were great. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, and even the chicken was moist and delicious. The seafood stew was a bit spicy, but balanced and had a wide range of seafood. The skirt steak was well cooked with a beautiful char flavor. Salmon was served in a bowl, great flavor although not super conducive for cutting with a knife... For dessert, this was the real show stopper, they have a wonderful selection of after dinner drinks, including four different amaros, And we opted to try every dessert except for the sorbet. All of the desserts were exceptional, including the squash tart, the crust was flaky and delicious, the filling was savory, and we all agreed it would be a wonderful starter or dessert. Even the chocolate was muted in sweetness and a refreshing difference from the sugar bomb of most desserts! I could see coming back just for dessert and drinks after another evening for a progressive dinner! We will definitely keep Eden as one of our favorites.
To say I had an exceptional experience at this restaurant and with its staff would be an understatement. Having worked several years in the service industry I can tell a tangible difference between the artistry of service and service just being part of the job. I can say with 100% certainty that artistry is present in this place along with incredible intentional hospitality. I had planned this event only a month before NYE as me and my husband were eloping and I had a very specific vision. Katja who specializes in their event planning took every single request into account and answered all my tedious questions with tact and grace. I entrusted her with my vision and it was her who sold me on the experience and this place from our first interaction. I had no idea how it would all unfold and honestly it was better than I could have imagined. I can't speak to their everyday menu as the menu was specialized for NYE but I can say that my guests have still not stopped talking about it. The food was amazing and the service was better. Not only was Katja there to make sure the night went smoothly but she gifted us Linsey and Carmen to ensure all of our needs were met. Each of their kindness made a difference in our experience and I hope they each get the recognition they so deserve. I felt so taken care of, invited in, respected and welcomed unlike I have felt anywhere else. I am honored to tell people the story of our special day and start with our experience at this restaurant. I had no intention to write a novel in this review and yet I feel there is so much I can say about the incredible work they are doing in every area at Eden.
Excellent service, delicious food, and great coffee! Gorgeous atmosphere and a nice spot to enjoy a meal outside on a sunny day. The interior is beautiful too! Thanks for having us.
We only discovered Eden a short while before the pandemic, and absolutely loved eating there. The food is fantastic, a real farm-to-table feel to it with a ton of inventiveness. Brunch was a real treat, not in the least because their staff was super friendly. We were heartbroken (for them and us) that they decided to close a few months into the pandemic, which has had to be rough on restaurants everywhere. So we were elated to see that they briefly reopened their kitchen for a Valentine’s Day special tasting menu, and it didn’t disappoint. Four courses and a delicious cocktail, everything very thoughtfully made and bursting with flavor. We selfishly hope they will stick around... you certainly made our day!
Eden is one of my go-to neighborhood gems. I love the food, they have their own greenhouses, have seasonal menus, it’s not too loud or crowded and has good service and good vibes. For all these reasons I chose Eden for a private birthday dinner I am writing this review about - and Eden accomplished the perfect night for me! From the beginning they were easy to work with - Katja was very responsive, and helped me curate menu, a birthday drink, a custom cake. I had flowers and balloons delivered and the process was very easy. Slate - the private dining room - is gorgeous and sets a great ambiance without needing any other decor. You have a screen and music if you choose to use. The food was great, the service well paced and relaxed. Cane (sp?) took great care of us and was wonderful all night! Would use Eden again and would recommend for anyone wanting to host a private event.
It’s a nice spot for brunch! I sat at the bar next to the pastry case, which by the way had a lot of options, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and delicious, but what really won me over were the quinoa pancakes. I'm totally a fan! Also, they have free parking lot , which is a huge plus.
Absolutely stunningly amazing dining experience! We went with our friends Vanessa and Jimmy and had an evening we’ll never forget. First of all, the service was absolutely perfect. Attentive and helpful without hovering. Then there’s the cocktail list - inventive and fun. Each of the dishes we ordered were creative and flavorful. Burrata and especially the crudo were fresh and delicious. My Korean bbq short rib was juicy and flavorful. Everything was amazing. I’m running out of adjectives so just do yourself a favor and go with friends so you can try as many dishes as possible!!
My best friend is pregnant and naming her baby Eden. I had the crazy idea to surprise her for dinner (at Eden) to celebrate. I called the restaurant and asked if they had any special things they could do for her. The manager was extremely kind and helpful on the phone (even though my request was a bit bizarre) and said he'd make a note in the reservation. I was expecting a fun dessert. When we arrived, we were presented with these beautiful menus. My friend was truly in awe of their kindness. We ordered a few appetizers and entrees to share. Every dish was truly incredible. All of my friends who went have already spread the word about this restaurant. I'm so thankful they made the dinner special for my friend. Highly, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
Eden, located in Chicago, provided a delightful dining experience for my first visit. Arriving late allowed us to secure a table swiftly. I indulged in a couple of dirty martinis to kickstart the evening, accompanied by the exquisite wagyu tartare, which left my taste buds thoroughly satisfied. For the main course, I opted for the crab bucatini, savoring each delectable bite, while my companion thoroughly enjoyed the flavorful chicken dish. The service was exemplary, and the restaurant exuded cleanliness, with the added luxury of real hand towels in the bathrooms, a detail not often found. The ambiance, with its well-thought-out lighting and decor, further elevated the experience. Overall, Eden offered a memorable dining venture, leaving me eager to return for another culinary adventure.
We started with the squash blossom crab rangoon which was unique and memorable. I got the crab bucatini for my main which had wonderful crunchy corn kernels. Save room for dessert! We got the peach *pie* which wasn’t too sweet. Perfect date night location. Loved it was nearby to the river so we could take a walk on the riverwalk after dinner.
Went to Eden for Brunch on a Sunday after seeing a few people recommended it on Instagram. I was impressed by the ambiance, nice decor and cute patio. The food was really good – I recommend their chicken sandwich, quinoa omelette and avocado toast. Service-wise, I think the staff is still in training since this place is pretty new – we had a few delays with our coffee, which was odd, but nothing terrible. I'll be back again sometime in the future to try their dinner menu.
Ah, Eden - not the garden variety but a culinary oasis in the concrete jungle of Chicago, where brunch isn't just a meal; it's a gastronomic event. Here, traditional brunch gets a facelift, a botox shot, and a cheeky wink, all thanks to a menu that dances between innovation and comfort without missing a beat. The vibe? It's as if modern chic had a love child with cozy comfort, creating a space that's both Instagram-worthy and genuinely inviting. It's the kind of place where the decor whispers sweet nothings about taste and sophistication, promising an ambiance that complements the culinary adventure awaiting. Now, let's talk about the main acts during our visit. The French Toast (which also happens to be vegan) - it's not just French toast; it's a love letter to brunch, penned with brioche, sealed with apricot coulis, and delivered with a flourish of macerated berries and maple syrup. It's the kind of dish that could make a grown man weep and a vegan sing. And the Breakfast Burrito? Imagine if your favorite breakfast decided to roll itself up in a cozy flour tortilla blanket, stuffed with everything good and pure in this world: egg scramble, tater tots (because why not?), avocado, a blend of cheddar and chihuahua cheese, black bean purée, escabeche, and pico de gallo. It's a burrito that doesn't just walk the walk; it salsas across your taste buds. Service here? Imagine your best friend, if your best friend was extremely knowledgeable about food, infinitely patient, and didn't ask to split the bill. That's the level of friendliness we're talking about. If I had to nitpick, and because perfection is a journey, not a destination, a smidge more diversity on the menu for the dietarily adventurous could transform Eden from a culinary paradise to a brunch utopia. In the grand tapestry of Chicago's brunch scene, Eden is that vibrant thread you can't help but notice. It's a place where each bite is a narrative, each sip a subplot, and the experience a bestseller waiting to be devoured. Four stars for Eden, with a side of anticipation for what's next on their menu.
Are you like the Pentagon and have no idea where all your money went for the seventh straight year? Then you need to make sure you spend that money somewhere great like Eden. Anytime you go to a place that has an on-site greenhouse you just know you’re going to get top tier seasonal helpings. That’s exactly what happened. We got the roasted squash country bread, eggplant flatbread, wood grilled carrots, eden market burger(award winning) and sticky toffee pudding. I will say for the flat bread and carrots I had no idea what ingredients were involved but after every bite I would freeze up in anticipation like Netflix streaming the Tyson fight. I also have to highlight the burger. Some burger places give you low quality slop for a patty, put it on a feeble bun and emphasize their hipster vibe to give an excuse to upcharge you on the burger and make you pay extra for the fries. I am proud to say Eden’s burger patty was top quality, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The add ons were like the other members of N Sync, they highlighted the star but never took away from them. There was esme arugula, oven dried tomatoes and black garlic dijonnaise to bring this masterpiece together.
We went there for an anniversary dinner and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The food was delicious and so creative. Everything was so fresh because they grow most of it in their own greenhouse on site. The drinks were also really tasty and enjoyable. The seasonal menu is awesome because you get to try new stuff regularly but also a bummer because the dishes you fall in love with won’t always be there. All the more reason to make sure you go when you get the chance so you can experience it all. The staff was so kind and friendly and everyone told us happy anniversary which was such a nice touch. 10/10 no notes!
Eden carries with it a very warm, uplifting, and escapist dining experience. It has climbed its way to being my go-to brunch destination in Chicago. The restaurant is situated in what feels like a hidden, secret corner of Avondale, tucked into an unassuming business corridor along the Chicago River. Upon entering, natural light streams through expansive south-facing windows, illuminating the sophisticated main dining room and highlighting the contrast between the thoughtfully placed greenery and the dining room’s muted color palette. These elements amplify the fresh, quality ingredients that make up every dish, pastry, and beverage that I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. Some personal favorites of mine are the Monkey Bread, rotating danishes (yes, they’ve all been fantastic), the Eden Breakfast Sandwich, and the Steak & Eggs. As great as the ambiance and food are, my family's experiences at Eden — from at least four visits in the last 2-3 months — would not have been as memorable without the attentive service by our now-preferred server, Saydees. She is super knowledgeable about the entire menu, so much so that, each time she has served our table, we learn something new and are encouraged to try new things. She is particularly passionate about the speciality lattes and pastries, and it shows when she gets into the nuances of each of option and her talks about her own experiences with them. On our most recent visit to Eden (February 15), she astonished our table by recalling the exact latte my brother had ordered on January 13th — the Shaken Banana Bread Latter — and thoughtfully used that detail to guide her recommendations for something new. Considering the countless tables and orders she’s managed in the interim, her recall more than a month later was genuinely impressive and made the experience feel uniquely personal. This level of hospitality alone gives us every reason to keep coming back to Eden.
We loved Eden, what a great place. Super impressed with the starters, in particular the brussel sprouts. The burger was truly impressive, let in your mouth beef. James our server was perfect in walking us through the menu, and the rest of the staff was very attentive. Chef Devon came out to meet everyone of his guests and asked for feedback. This was a surprise and we will be back.
My favorite restaurant in the city! I have introduced so many friends and colleagues to this place. Took a friend just last night for dinner and service was immaculate! Our waitress even went and talked to the chef to figure out how I could still eat with my nightshade allergy. The staff was kind enough to figure out what had nightshade and what could be removed from the dish. Ben was kind enough to come back to the table and walk me through everything and make substitutions so I could also partake in my partner's dish. I've been here tons of times for brunch but it was my first dinner experience! Highly recommend any and everyone check this place out. I've never experienced this level of service anywhere else! They have free coat check and when I went to leave the girl even helped me put my coat on. It's the little touches for me that every time I visit make me keep coming back for more! Such an amazing gem in the city!
Eden is my go to lunch spot when I am meeting friends in the city. It is incredibly fresh, colorful and so tasty. Yesterday our server was Daniel who I have had many times before and he went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. He checked in as much as we needed, but also left us to talk, when something needed to be modified with my salad he did so professionally and generously. Now that I’ve been a few times I’m starting to get to know the staff and everyone, Is so friendly and accommodating. They always have new specials that are delicious and fresh. It really feels farmed to table and I am always happy when I leave there. Thanks so much.
AMAZING! I cannot rave enough about Eden. My family and I moved here from Houston in July. Houston is a foodie city, and we’ve had good meals here since we moved, but generally not as good as what we could get in Houston until tonight at Eden. The ingredients were high quality and fresh, and the dishes were unique, creative, and delicious. The rolls, the tater tots, the sweet potato gnocchi, and the burger were all excellent, and the crème brûlée was incredible. The service was also excellent, and it’s a beautiful space. Highly recommend.
This was such a great experience. The bar is small but mighty. The bartenders know their stuff! Nicole was a great server and even though we were a group of friends who might have laughed a little too loud, she made us feel welcome. And we literally ordered everything on the menu and it was all delicious. But don’t miss that burger.
Celebrated my friend’s birthday at Eden on a sunny winter afternoon. Matthew, our server was outstanding and elevated our experience! The farm to table food was delicious. The baked goods are out of this world! We sat for hours without being rushed. I highly highly recommend!
Went to the bar yesterday to treat myself to dinner. Very sterile/bright lighting at the bar and in general. Got the 24 karat mezcal cocktail $16 and the duck lasagna priced at $42. Duck in the top few layers was very dry and duck at the very bottom was cooked right. Felt like it could’ve used way more béchamel sauce and stuffing within the lasagna in general. Sauce on the plate was very gelatinous and sweet. Every person surrounding me at the bar worked there? And were talking across the bar to have conversations? It was weird. You’ll easily spend over $40 to eat and drink for one. Lowest priced entree is $21 if you get the burger for the dinner menu. Service was standard.
Visited on a weekend for brunch. Ordered a wild mushroom omelet with breakfast potatoes. The omelet was very disappointing and very dry. The breakfast potatoes were good and crispy. Also, the veggie sandwich accompanied with the kale salad looked good. Service was attentive and the restaurant has a good bar. Overall, it's an average place that I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.
The interior design and atmosphere are unique and modern, and service was good. The octopus and burrata appetizers were quite good, pastas were a bit plain and disappointing. Sweet potato side was interesting but would probably try something else next time out of curiosity.
Was there Dec 5th. Food was excellent and waiter’s service was too. I thought the drinks were average however and the hostess did not bother to thank or say goodbye, which was a rare unpleasant experience for me. Total bill including a generous tip was $200 for two. Two main dishes, one appetizer and three drinks, for reference.
