Frida’s Room in Pilsen is such a great spot! The service is excellent, and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Their café de olla is so good—and the best part is that they offer refills on both the regular coffee and the café de olla, which is a huge plus. If you go, make sure to ask for Maria (la Chiquita). She is super sweet and was constantly checking on our table to make sure we were taken care of. Her attention and kindness really made our experience even better. Highly recommend Frida’s Room for great food, great service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere in Pilsen.
First time trying Frida Room and the food did not disappoint. It was delicious and ingredients were quite fresh! We didn’t have to wait too long (went in on a Monday around 10am) and our waitress was very considerate and kind. Portions were sized perfectly. We even had leftovers! Parking is difficult to find, however there is paid parking on the streets. Highly recommend using public transportation.
It's BYOB, $8 uncooked fee. I had churro french toast and it was perfect, just what I wanted.
Very nice surprise. Was expecting a good brunch, but this was fantastic. Loved the decor and the Frida Kahlo theme. Staff was super nice and attentive, and the place was packed. Food came out quick, and was so good. Love the underlying Mexican theme/twists in the menu. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.
An absolute favorite breakfast spot. Packed on the weekends. Highly suggest making a reservation.
A nice little place where you can enjoy a tasty coffee with friends. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was good and everything was brought out in a timely fashion. The place has nice decorations and paintings which add to the atmosphere.
Absolutely awesome food and awesome environment. The soups are delicious
I love the decor and service here! The space is really cozy— and that’s usually a nice way of saying cramped, but in this case it really is cozy. The chairs are awesome too. The food was good. It’s on the pricier side. This is a great place to linger over coffee and brunch.
Quaint little restaurant with outdoor seating and wonderful open windows. Excellent service.
I never heard of this restaurant until the day my friends brought me here! Locally owned and a great vibe. The staff is super helpful and quick! Be careful coming in last minute on Sunday’s because it gets packed really fast! I enjoyed my panini it has the perfect amount of crunchiness & bold flavor in every bite. The meal portions are perfect and you will be full before leaving! Also it’s BYOB so the perfect brunch place if your on a budget!
If I could rate this 7 stars I would! Maria T. Was our server and she was FANTASTIC!! The food was delicious and the vibe was exactly what I needed!! The enchiladas were awesome with the steak. Spicy enough to need some of that orange strawberry juice! Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!!
Perfect location for brunch.. Its cozy, warm vibe and atmosphere was felt upon entering. Hostess upon arrival friendly and attentive. Waitress was lovely and patient. Food was delicious and fresh. Great plate presentation. I recently visited Paris and fell in love with all its cozy cafes.... So Frida Room took me back to that vibe and feel... Interior decor and lighting are perfect for setting a relaxed mood. There's also a bar... I would love to go back and visit when outdoor dining is set up at Frida Room. Like many of my reviews I usually dine at ♿ friendly restaurants. Since my spouse has reduced mobility. I noticed there's outdoor (weather permitting) seating so maybe that can be an option.... My recommendation: Interior space to allow some accessible designated space when needed for a wheelchair user or someone with a walker.. This would allow ALL to enjoy and experience The Frida Room. 😉 IF at all possible can your step entry be made ramp accessible ♿🤔 Thanks again for a lovely brunch😉
Now, that’s what you call great brunch. Cozy place with lovely staff and delicious food. We tried the Meet Lovers Skillet -the sauce is just lovely - and Motulenos - just the look whets your appetite. The portions are generous and the price is quite reasonable. I loved that they consumed minimum paper and used a tablet instead for the signature. One thing they can improve is to use better mugs for their coffee. The glass cup was hard to handle and didn’t feel as good as holding your mug of coffee in this homey place. Will go back again! Went there again. My second visit wasn’t as awesome! The Chilaquiles was good but the french toast only mediocre. The server made a couple of mistakes but the appearance of the food still very exciting.
Cute neighborhood restaurant with friendly staff and amazing food! We had breakfast here this morning and every dish was delicious. Well seasoned, tasty, and a great fusion of Mexican and American breakfast/lunch options.
Big Mexican block type party, 'Mole de mayo', going on for several blocks. This was a nice reprieve from the very crowded event. Good experience. The food pictures speak for themselves. Great conversations with wait staff.
We were in town visiting for the weekend and happened to find this place near our Airbnb. It did not disappoint. The food was great tasting, authentic, and the service was exceptional. They were also super quick to get our food and checks out to us. Overall this was a fantastic find.
I am grateful to have found a place in Chicago that serves authentic chilaquiles. Each bite 😋 made me feel closer to 🇲🇽 Mexico! Finding a local spot in Pilsen that can make traditional Mexican American and traditional American breakfast is no small feat, plus service is quick and streamlined. This is a busy spot with indoor dining, a bar, and a TV. I highly recommend reservations and leaving plenty of time to find parking. Thank you Frida Room for going above and beyond to make my wife feel special on her birthday and for making me miss the people and flavors of CDMX a little less.
It was quite busy on Sunday afternoon, so we waited for a table for about 30 minutes (we went to Cafe Jumping Bean for coffee and matcha while we waited)! The place was so beautiful and our food was delicious! I had the eggplant sandwich with onion rings! I am thinking about going back for exactly what I ordered last time because it was that good!
This place is pretty good. The only issue was their meat was a bit tough. Overall, the chilaquiles we're delicious, forgot to ask for them to be crunchy, but the flavor was great. The French toast was delicious. The coffee is great. Omelet was very tasty as well. The potatoes were a bit too "Al dente" for me. Second time there and I would definitely go again!
This place can make any brunch date perfect. The food here tastes blessed by Frida herself. The staff are crazy friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is cute as hell and fits right in with the rest of Pilsen, please, go out of your way to eat here. You sure as hell won’t be disappointed- unless you’re trying to order any coffee that’s not regular. Unlike me, they don’t need espresso to get their day started.
Great food and ambience. I brought my Grandma here and would recommend to friends/ family. The host & server were very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We were very hungry upon arrival, the portions were pretty good so we did not have enough room to share dessert. I would like to go back to try their pancakes/ french toast soon.
Great service from the moment you walk in! Our server Maria J was very friendly and patient taking our order and would check on us. The food was freshly made definitely well worth the wait. Their chilaquiles are unbelievably delicious.
The chilaquiles rojas are delicious! Flavorful, filling, and just the right amount of spice. My caramel latte was also delicious. My husband loved his skillet and the pancakes as well. There are so many options on the menu you will find something you enjoy!
Service and food was great. Loved all the Frida decor. Gave cute café vibes. Will be coming back.
A tasty venue for Mexican Brunch, not only can you get a really delicious chilaquiles, you can get a stack of pancakes with strawberries on top. The vibe inside is bright and modern with a twist of Frida tastefully peppered inside. The drinks are wonderful as well. We had the Horchata and Strawberry/Lemonade. It was made with fresh strawberries and not from a concentrate! Definite plus!
Cool cozy Neighborhood brunch spot everything came out very fresh. The coffee was great , It was a beautiful day when I visited, and they were able to open the huge bay windows which allowed us to have an indoor/outdoor experience !!
The food was delicious. The service was a bit slow due to the high foot traffic. The atmosphere is cute and cozy. Parking is difficult to find. It took about 20 minutes to find a parking space.
This place is gas ⛽ You will not be disappointed if you come here!! They have such a variety of food and some Mexican favorites. Service is pretty quick as well, prices are reasonable. No wonder this place is jam-packed!!
Great breakfast spot! Excellent service and a fun atmosphere. Steak sandwich is delicious.
despite over an hour wait (huge catering order), the staff was attentive, making sure coffee and anything else we needed was taken care of. Food was excellent when it came out, dare I say, it was Definitely worth the wait. Had a friend join me as my food was coming out, his order turn around was under 10 mins. Will definitely be back!
Local neighborhood Hispanic breakfast and lunch restaurant. Everything is scrumptious but my favorite is the beef stew and their special coffee. Parking is a challenge and gets very crowded during the weekend.
Amazing restaurant in Pilsen. Everyone was welcoming and the food was the best Mexican food I have ever had. The Cafe de olla was like tasting heaven. Will never be able to top that coffee. Chilaquilles were a work of art. Just heavenly!!!
I had an amazing experience. It's so hard to find a sit-down full service restaurant that's open for breakfast, so I'm glad I found this place. The decorations were gorgeous. I loved all the paintings. The food was delicious. They had the best coffee I've ever had at a restaurant. I love Mexican food, and this place had some of those best Mexican food I've ever had. The server was spectacular. It was my birthday, so the waiters surprised me with a free dessert and a song. I'll definitely be going back there.
Frida Room never disappoints. The chilaquiles were the highlight—authentic and delicious. My steak was cooked exactly how I asked, which is rare to find. Worth the price for a high-quality meal in a beautiful setting. 10/10!
We came here for family brunch on Christmas Day since it was one of the few places open and taking reservations. The restaurant had a cozy, Mexican-inspired vibe. The food was decent, though not something I’d personally go out of my way to return for. However, everyone in my family enjoyed their meals and finished everything. Overall, a nice one-time brunch experience, especially for a holiday.
This restaurant is so cutely decorated, with tons of Frida Kahlo Items everywhere. The service was impeccable. The food was very good, including the birra. The chicken sandwich and enchiladas verdes com huevos was also delicious. We ordered the Frida colada, which did not taste great. Perhaps the coconut milk had gone bad? Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a fun and vibrant meal.
Visited on Saturday night and the restaurant was quiet. Servers were prompt and friendly. We had traditional Mexican fare (rather than the Asia items on the menu) and thought they were great. A nice experience overall.
I really like this place, but the service sucks. Hostes it is rude, but servers are ok. It is ridículos to be waiting to use the bathroom forever. Food it's ok, not so tasty, but it's ok. More american that Mexican. Great atmosphere thought, always crowded.
Lunch was good but not great. I had the enchiladas in a tomatillo sauce with sunny side up eggs and my three table mates had molletes which they all enjoyed. While this place was fine, I would try another place next time we are in Pilsen. It was reasonably priced thought. It was $45/couple with tip.
Loved coming over to Frida Room for brunch with friends. We had a decently long wait but we used the time to walk around some antique stores so it was not a big deal at all. The food was delicious and the service was great! You should definitely try it out but get there early 😊
It was my sister, her husband and daughter and abuelita (my mom) first time eating here. I've been here before and I recommended it to them. They liked it! The hostess was friendly, greeted us with a warm smile. Our waitress was very polite, friendly too. She would be on the lookout if we needed our coffee refill. (Wish I got her name, sorry) Overall great service although it was a bit busy so our food took long but I understand. Great food, love the Azteca café. I'll be returning for more cáfe. Yum!
The service here is great! The hostess is always so nice and the time to get seated is typically super fast for TWO! I love getting the Aztec coffee is legit a sweet coffee w/expresso. I honestly have only ordered the chilaquiles. Once with pollo and once with steak. My recommendation is pollo or neither. The steak is cecina from what I determined but for some reason they ask you if you want “NY Steak” or “Ribeye” if that is the case then it’s very very thinly sliced. Also have ordered the pancakes but I can’t remember which ones exactly. They were drenched in sugar like sprinkles, cajera, whip cream. Beware lol
Friendly staff. Had the enfrijoladas which were okay, but made with refried beans that unfortunately lacked flavor. I will not recommend this plate. Steak, eggs and pancakes were good. Street metered parking available. You can BYOB, but there is a $25.00 service charge.
It's great service and a beautiful restaurant. However, the food the few times I have gone have not been anything special, and I've tried multiple menu items.
I liked the service provided by Maria T. She was attentive & informative when asked questions. No complaint with the service provided. The only issue I had at this location is they do not serve (no sirven arroz) any kind of rice or sausage (chorizo). You must ask for chips they are not complimentary. I ordered the chilaquiles verde with steak instead of beans & my eggs over easy.. they very good my friend ordered the carner en su jugo & that was also very good. Also they let us taste a complimentary consome de rez that was delicious 😋. They don't necessarily have a dessert menu just sweet breakfast option like French toast & pancakes things like that. Other than the aforementioned the vibe is good I recommend.
Cafe de la olla was very good. A bit on the sweet side but tasty. I ordered enchiladas Verdes w chicken ($22) They are more like soft, cheese quesadillas sitting on salsa verde and chicken pieces on the side. Very non traditional. I was thinking they would be rolled in shredded chicken in salsa verde. Overall they were ok but I wouldnt order that again. My husband ordered the chillaquiles. They were more like tortilla chips from a bag with sauce poured over them. Ive never had them like this before. Normally, they are soft w sauce on them. I will be back but definitely going to try something else. Service was good. We got there early which is recommended.
Service was good, nice place but the food was not great. I ordered the chilaquiles which look nice but don’t taste great. I regret adding the chicken- that might have been what made it bad truthfully. Looks like fake chicken and it was very salty. My friend also ordered the chicken panini and she did not like.
Very cute restaurant for breakfast. I had the a la mexicana for breakfast, it had very minimum steak and was served with a splash of beans. For $20 I was expecting more. I ordered a side of breakfast potatoes that was $10 and for 2 small cups of coffee was $5 each. Thank you for the experience.
I didn’t like the place. The food was not tasty, I won’t recommend to ask for green chilaquiles. They serve big amounts, but the food is just fried American food, or Americanized Mexican food. If you want to bring your alcohol you will be ask to pay $25 fee, we were shocked. The music volume is way too loud we couldn’t talk. I get a reservation for 10 people for an special occasion, 15 minutes prior my reservation they called me to ask if I was still going to arrive, they told me that they will wait just 10 min and cancel the reservation if the 10 people didn’t arrive at that time, the lady also stated that we won’t be able to be seated until the 10 people arrive. It’s cool, every place have their rules, but why do they let you know 15 minutes before your appointment?. You can find a better place in Chicago if you want to talk with your friends and enjoy tasty food.
*DO NOT order from this place!! This is how my chilaquiles came, absolutely repulsive. My avocado which was $3 is bad, the eggs have black stuff & not cooked properly. I took one bite and instantly threw up. Thanks for the worst breakfast I’ve ever had.
