Opinions de King Crab House Chicago
Absolutely love their seafood . Oysters are top 🔝 But what impressed me was how the owner takes care of his restaurant and costumers . Very kind and attentive. Highly recommend.
This was my second time visiting King Crab. The food is very reasonably priced and tasty. John at the bar is AMAZING! He gave the best serice I've ever had !
King Crab House provides a great atmosphere & delicious food. The portion sizes of the appetizers were small, but the jumbo crab is DELICIOUS & the best price around (still pricey but worth it!) Parking is not easy but found something close by on Spot Hero. Don't miss this gem!
The server was very friendly, suggestive and awesome... We enjoyed her. The food came out real quick, we had the large King size crab legs, they were a decent size. The food was perfect and the music awesome... We will return. I tried to take a picture but oops I ate most of the crab but I did manage to get this leg ..😂😂
We drove down from the northern suburbs for a birthday linner (early dinner). We were there for about 2 hours total, which is important to know for your paid street parking. We were seated by the open door near the street. It wasn’t loud, and we enjoyed people watching. The all you can eat crab legs were very meaty and they brought 4 clusters on the first go round (4 total claws) and then sets of two clusters on each ‘fill up’. I had the three course dinner with the salmon and clam chowder. The chowder was good, I would have loved to see it be a little thicker but overall it wasn’t bad. The salmon was good. Nothing overly special, the Cajun Potatoes were too spicy for me. The flavor was like if i had gotten them right out of a crawfish boil. Not my favorite. My mom got the sea bass and it was smaller than she thought but still flavorful. I would have like an alternative side option like rice, broccoli or potato is really all they have and I usually like some kind of rice with my fish (personal preference). Overall, great for a once in awhile but not worth the frequent drive from northern Illinois (1.5 hours on way).
This place is my FAVORITE place to dine. Everyone that works there are always so pleasant. The service is wonderful. The environment feels inviting.I feel like this is my cheers location.
There was a small wait even though we had reservations but it was restaurant week & a Saturday so its understandable Staff was kind and attentive Food was absolutely delicious! Worth it!
Thank you for allowing me to have such a big party!! The food was delicious everything I ordered was good I have nothing bad to say about the food. One of the waitresses was a little agitated It looked like she wasn't used to a party of 15 or more. One of the workers told us that we were able to go outside and smoke and where we could actually go. And once we started going out there they blocked it off. I was not happy with that at all. The pita bread chips and the cheesecake is to die for. Make sure you get that. Again the food was delicious!!!!! Looking forward to coming back.
Everything tastes so good. The server was sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable
Enjoyed an extended restaurant week menu at King Crab House! The $45 choice features an app, entree (1 lb. Snow Crab legs) and dessert... While the $60 offers 1 lb. Medium Alaskan King Crab legs which are the delicious way to go. Ordered sides of broccoli, roasted potatoes and fries. We paired mussels and calamari to start while we had room for the Alaskan King Crab and slices of key lime pie and tiramisu. The kitchen sent out food fresh and ready to dive into and the sides were a great addition. King Crab House has a good selection of beers on tap and definitely a place for crabby people to enjoy. Will try the lunch time All You Can Eat Snow Crab legs for $69.95 per person next visit.
The oysters are 85 cents but you must purchase 2 cocktails to get the deal. It was amazing, I was suppose to make a tik tok but i want to gate keep this place 😭 i definitely will be back!!!
I've come to this restaurant several times now. A few times for dinner and twice now just for a quick oyster bar special with some drinks. Each time has been an exceptional experience. The food is always fresh and delicious with generous portions. The staff have always been attentive and have made some great recommendations. I would recommend this place to anyone trying to impress a date or just enjoy an evening out with friends.
Our visit here was quite nice! Our server and the manager were very warm and welcoming. The food was good. Our steak was cooked at the right temperature. My favorite thing on the plate was the red potatoes. They were seasoned with Lemon, garlic and just the perfect amount of spice. I would visit again.
We got the ultimate crab dinner for 2. It comes with a pound of snow crab and a pound of king crab. The crab was fantastic! I recommend getting the Cajun butter to dip it in. And the garlic pita they give you is really tasty. We had key lime pie for dessert which was also delicious.
Great experience, fresh seafood, and good service. Bar special price when you order 2 drinks per person is a great deal.
Delicious old school crab house. A bit kitschy, perfect atmosphere for a trip back in time. Fried oysters are perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside. But you're here for the King Crab. It's divine. Go for the jumbo legs and don't look back. Lots of great meal deals and bar specials too.
Best oyster bar special in Chicago, fre! If you sit at the bar, oysters are $.85 each, jumbo shrimp are $.95 each, and wings are $.65 each! The special is only if sitting at the bar and there is a 2 alcoholic drink per person minimum rule. Don’t forget the rest of the menu though - the crab is always perfectly cooked and the stuffed mushrooms are full to the brim with crab! The food is tasty, all their seafood is fresh, service is excellent, and ambiance is relaxed and unassuming. This spot truly is a hidden gem, do not miss it!!
A fantastic place! We got oyster, crab, and ribs. We have a great time and fun. I liked most with the Crab bec it was deliciously flavored with butter. Highly recommend this spot!
King Crab House is a staple in Lincoln Park and it's not hard to understand why. I had to leave a review because every time I've been in here the food is phenomenal. I love a fancy pants restaurant, but this place is laid back, reliable and will deliver a 10/10 meal no matter what you order. Service is always quick, food comes within 10-15 mins, staff is extremely kind and attentive, prices are reasonable. I recommend the Twin Lobster Tails & 18oz Cowboy Chop Bone-In Ribeye. This order with the Fried Calamari and Potatoes never fails to hit the spot!
Went for our anniversary dinner and the King Crab House did not disappoint! Even though we had a reservation, we got there early to take advantage of the oyster bar specials. There's a 2 drink minimum for the oyster bar special and I got the caramel appletini...yum! My husband had the regular margarita. We got the dinner for 2 with the twin lobster tails and cowboy ribeye for our main course...delicious!! Our server was great and so was the atmosphere. It's laid back and you can watch the game at the bar or have a quiet meal in the back. Definitely recommend!
𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞! Great 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 for all 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧'𝐬 without breaking the bank. Only Downside, is parking. Fortunately 𝐁𝐨𝐤𝐚 across the street offered 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, So that made it a lot easier. You must go and give it a try. 𝐀 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐦. 🥰
Really good price wise $$$$. But worth it we had seafood bag. King crab and Rockefeller Oysters all top notch!!
It was good, have to work for your food. Great prices. Good service. Small seafood house. For the price and what it is, I say it is a 5 star. The little pita breads are delicious. Enjoyed the key lime pie, but it was mostly whip cream. Crab is basic and straightforward. Recommend getting the large legs, the medium were difficult. I am not a fan of working for my food, but knew what I was getting into. Worth a visit.
Our first visit to King Crab House was nothing short of exceptional. We planned a weekend getaway to celebrate our 10-year-old’s birthday, and at her request, sought out a restaurant offering crab legs. After researching various options, the AYCE crab legs at King Crab House caught my attention, and I made a reservation. The day before our lunch, I was delighted that the restaurant graciously accommodated my request to include my grandmother and aunt in our reservation. The meal itself exceeded all expectations. I ordered the shrimp and snow crab Louisiana boil, my daughter enjoyed the snow crab combo, and my boyfriend opted for the AYCE crab legs. The staff’s attentiveness was impeccable— his plates were replenished promptly, and he never experienced a wait for more crab legs. The professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made our experience truly memorable. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the phenomenal service ensured we felt welcome and well cared for throughout our visit. My daughter was even surprised with a heavenly birthday tiramisu for dessert! King Crab House has officially become our go-to destination for crab whenever we are in Chicago. We look forward to returning! Thank you all so much!
What a cute spot! So lucky I found this place. Order two drinks so you can enjoy the bar menu ! Anytime in the day ,doesn’t have time limits. If you are a oyster lover you definitely should check it out !
Crab was cooked to perfection. Not soft and hard to crack. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful, quick to get more crab to our table. The filet mignon cooked just the way I liked it. I will definitely come back and bring friends.
First time checking out the King Crab House in Chicago. The vibe in there is rustic and reminds of a Florida seafood restaurant. The quality is good and really recommend trying their famous king crab legs with the garlic butter sauce. Staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable.
Really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and waterfront decor. We did the 2 lb snow crab for about $60. Plenty of crab for 2. If you go crab cakes, seemed to make more sense to order the app which came with 2 cakes v 3 on the meal and the cost was more reasonable. $150 total for 3 with no drinks. It got very crowded around 7p.
Everything was was excellent from the food to the service. The atmosphere was great as well. Had the ribeye steak and it was well seasoned and juicy. The butterfly shrimp was good too.
Had a nice time at King Crab House, the offerings were great, reasonably priced. The crab legs were fresh and the cocktail was good. I liked the boil it was not overwhelming very tasty. I also enjoyed the dessert. The calamari was fresh and well cooked. I wish the corn was fresh because that is the only thing I didn't enjoy. As for the service it was awesome! The customer service was some of the best I have had in a restaurant in a long time. Very attentive and professional! Loved that! Would definitely come back again.
So I haven't been to king crab house Chicago in about 20 years. Same fresh seafood, we have the three-course dinner option I chose the Alaskan snow crab with the Cajun potatoes. We also had crab stuffed mushrooms (In addition to the appetizers for the three-course option) for appetizers as that were offered with the three course option I chose garlic mussels, they were absolutely delicious. I couldn't get enough of the buttery garlic lemon sauce that it came in!! It also came with other dessert I had the tiramisu. We also ordered clam chowder. my husband had the seafood boil and his came with , shrimp cocktail and key lime pie for the dessert. The waitress was very attentive. She made sure our drinks were refilled. She checked on us often but not overbearing. The owner or management... Not sure which one, however he was very accommodating with parking. if you haven't been go, if it's been a while please go back. We will definitely be back soon and frequent more often. It's just an hour away from the house LOL. That's probably the only reason why it's been so long. 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!
The all you can eat crab was absolutely delicious 😋 they kept it coming! Towards the end legs we're not as good as the beginning as if they gave different ones from what we first started off with but overall it was the best crab legs that I ever had and keep in mind I'm 52 and love me some seafood! Definitely going again!!
My experience was nothing short than amazing 😁 The Oyster Rockefeller was delicious. The best I’ve EVER had!! I also had the snow crab boil with shrimp, potatoes, sausage, & corn, spicy Cajun butter. I expected some spice but it wasn’t spicy at all but overall still very good. I also had the Key Lime Martini and now it’s my favorite drink. John was my server at the bar and his service was a 10/10. The atmosphere was quiet with oldies playing. Overall, a great experience 😀
My friend and I went there after church on restaurant week. I had the crab legs- delicious- didn’t need the garlic butter sauce. She had the seafood boil- mmmmm good is how she described it.my favorite dessert is key lime pie and their did not disappoint. My friend had the chocolate mousse cake.Nothing was left on her plate. The staff is courteous and friendly and helpful.
I had a great experience at King Crab House! The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it an enjoyable place to dine. A special mention to our waiter, John, who was extremely helpful throughout our visit. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. His service truly elevated the entire experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious seafood and excellent service!
Wow! Food was impeccable! Service was outstanding. Kejtlin our waitress was very friendly and patient, as it was my first time eating snow crab. She took the time to teach me step by step and make this dining experience very enjoyable! Tiramisu was delicious and i definitely recommend dining here
We had a wonderful experience at King Crab House! The food was incredibly delicious, but what truly made our visit special was John’s amazing service. He went above and beyond by helping us open the lobster and cutting the crab for us such a thoughtful gesture that made our meal so much easier and more enjoyable. We really loved the food, and we also loved the warm, helpful service from John. We’ll definitely be coming back with our friends! Thank you, John, for making our visit memorable. 🦞🦀💙
Came here with a friend for their oyster bar specials and had a fantastic experience. The drinks were amazing and the food was delicious, but what impressed me most was the service. Not a single moment went by without someone checking in on us, the entire team was attentive and welcoming. Our server, Alyssa, was especially wonderful, she made us feel valued and ensured our orders were taken promptly. Highly recommend!
Very quaint place. My friend and I sat at the bar. Kejtlin was our server and she was super nice and able to make recommendations. It seemed as if everyone assisted each other with their tables with no questions asked. They have so many specials and shareable plates. You can't go wrong with eating here. My friend and I both got specials that can be shared. The combos come with an appetizer and glass of wine of your choice. So you really get your monies worth. I really enjoyed the seafood especially with the hot chili dipping sauce. I had my steak cooked med well. It was tender but there was no flavor. It just tasted like the grill to me. So next time I may just get all seafood or ask them to make sure to place salt.on my steak prior to cooking it. I usually don't require steak sauce for a well cooked steak and I needed it.
Food was decent. Not super great. Our appetizers came out kind of cold. The oysters Rockefeller were just okay. There was four of us at lunch. Each of us got a boiling bag with the garlic butter, it was tasty but it needed salt. I also ordered some fried perch that was good. I will go back. Wouldn't have to rush back. For four of us. Our tab was over $500. We did have at least two alcohol drinks a piece.
An old school seafood place, the atmosphere was relaxed and service was good. The oyster deal is only at the bar and ayce snow crab legs have limited hours. Photo is attached. Price point wasn't too bad w wine and champagne included in the dinners. The king crab and snow crabs were a little on the dried side, but hoping it was an off day?
The seafood tastes a little more bland than what most of the Cajun or seafood broils I’ve tasted. Make sure to ask for more garlic, or Cajun seasoning if you’re the type who enjoys flavor and sauce. They don’t put a lot of butter or the sauce that flavors the crabs, shrimp etc. the corn tasted like it wasn’t fresh corn, more like the store bought freezer corn. The garlic bread bites were delightfully warm and were so good. The Caesar salad was a bit too over sauced, for my taste, but it was still good. The lettuce was crisp as it should be. The service was great, the restaurant was clean. the server was very nice and sweet and so were the bussers. Arrive slightly earlier before your reservation to find parking, it’s very difficult and there is a lot of permit parking. I overall give this a 3.5 star review. Make sure you catch the all you can eat special. We arrived a bit too late due to parking to catch that but it may be worth while.
I had high hopes for this place as I had heard it had been in business for over 30 years but the service and food were both Just OK. We were seated quickly and service started off good. The food came out at a decent rate at first but then I waited about 15 minutes for our waitress to come back after requesting flavored butters. I was also out of (all you can eat) crab legs and had to wait even longer for them. The manager finally walked around and asked how we were so I advised her of my long wait. She brought some back about the same time the waitress did (after a 20+ minute wait) I was happy to know I wasn't going to have to wait again. The last plate of crab legs were so Salty you couldn't possibly eat them. On to the other food, the filets were both cooked perfectly but did lack flavor. The brocoli was also bland. The stuffed mushrooms were good as was the oysters Rockefeller. The calamari was good and their popcorn shrimp was delicious! I did appreciate free refills on sodas but did not appreciate them adding their 18% gratuity because I tip accordingly and I don't believe the service was worth the $40 I was charged. One of the bathroom sinks had one broken faucet and the other didn't work so I had to wait to get to the other bathroom to rinse it off. Overall the food was good but I will be looking for another seafood restaurant in Chicago.
King Crab House was very good but not great. Service was odd, felt like the waiter had too many tables or was just having a bad day. He told us they were out of bibs even though bibs were sitting by the kiosk. Then He forgot to run our credit card at the end and ended up running after us outside. We had no idea because he brought a check to sign apparently he had only run the tip thru? I don’t even know how that happens. The food was fine, for the money I wish it was better. Skip the oysters Rockefeller it was not very good (too much spinach and mushrooms). The crab cake was A LOT of breading and not a lot of crab. The jumbo crab legs were fine but very salty. Overall it just fine.
Ordered from here through UberEats so I can only speak to the delivery experience but the food was okay at best overall. Best to worst: 1. My bf’s stuffed swai was yummy but the fries were soggy and left much to be desired. 2. The oysters Rockefeller were really good but a little on the salty side. 3. Calamari was decent but also soggy. 4. The crab stuffed mushrooms were soggy and very heavily seasoned. 5. The 1/2 shrimp and 1/2 crab legs boil bag was ABYSMAL. The crab legs were cooked to the point of MUSH. The shrimp were tougher than the calamari they were so overdone. I literally couldn’t eat it and got no reprise from UberEats for this mid-grade meal. Buyer beware (at least if ordering delivery).
very small. a lot of dust on everything. saw a video of the restaurant online before traveling to Chicago and it looked amazing. when it got to the table, the lobster roll was 80% bread and not enough lobster to go end to end on the bun. he got the halibut and it was very dry and overcooked. the potatoes were really greasy and not very good and you only got 1 and 1 half of a small red potato in the side
Terrible experience. The oysters were not fresh at all and full of sand, the chicken wings had a weird taste, and the cocktails were really bad. On top of that, they added a mandatory service charge. Definitely not worth it.
Went for Chicago Restaurant Week 2026. For $60 you we could get one appetizer, main entrée, and dessert. I selected the calamari for my appetizer, the Seafood boil bag for my main entrée and chocolate moose cake for dessert. The serving sizes were so small. For $60 I assumed i would leave feeling like I had eaten a full meal. I left feeling like I had juat sampled a meal. My calamari was served on a saucer size plate. The seafood boil bag could literally be held in the palm of my hand. And I have small hands. For a half pound of medium crablegs...we only had 2 crab legs. More like small crab legs with very little meat inside. Inside my friends seafood boil bag, her potatoes weren't even tender. Had to use her thumbs to break them apart. Had a few slices of sausage, about a 1/4 of corn on the cob and 7 shrimp. To drive an hour, plus look for parking for 20 minutes, and to still leave hungry...I was extremely disappointed and won't be back. Too many other options closer to home were I can get more bang for my buck with parking!!
Staff and drinks were great, but that was it. The seafood in my boil was all overcooked. The shrimp was rubbery and the corn felt like it came out a microwave. The Cajun sauce was also pretty bland. Perhaps I came on a bad night, but wasn’t impressed at all.
I would give them a 0 if I could. I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day on 1/12 and I received a call 3 days before my reservation stating they double booked our table and could no longer accommodate us. I then asked if they could at least do carry out and they stated the kitchen was closed for carry out. There was no apology or attempt to resolve, they actually laughed when I asked to do carry out. Completely unprofessional.
