Get the Parachute burger!!! It is drenched in delicious and flavorful sauce. Everything from the bread to everything in between was a dream. I will be dreaming about this burger for a while! We also tried their fries with banana ketchup and that was a fun-interesting taste. Will come back when I’m in town again.

This place is very different from their original concept and while I like the old place/concept better, this one does deliver. The atmosphere is very much a listening bar and they have a great selection of cocktails that are all well made. The food menu is on the small side but everything we had was good. The highlights were the burger and the rice. If I liked cream cheese more on sushi I would say the salmon nigiri are a must, but they did do it about perfectly as the cream cheese wasn't too overpowering or too much. Still though, I wish they had a sushi option that didn't have cream cheese. Overall I would say this place is perfect for an after show dinner or a late night hang with some friends.

The salmon nigiri has the perfect amount of wasabi for spice and cream cheese to soften. The Karaage chicken was perfectly crispy. Everyone knows the cheeseburger here will rock your world, submerged in beer cheese to dip with every bite!

Had a great experience here. Arrive at least 30 min prior to open if you don’t like waiting. No resos. We were 3rd in the door. I immediately loved the ambiance, music level and decor. My biggest restaurant atmosphere pet peeve is when it’s incredibly dark and the music is too loud. They achieved the perfect balance. The hyped burger is in fact worth it. The cheddar sauce and bordelaise takes it over the top. Chicken karagge was also good. “Ambiguous” Asian salad was excellent and refreshing. It reminded me of the Asian salad at Applebees but better. Kimchi Spam Fried rice also very good. Special pie of the night was fluffernutter. I would definitely return for the burger alone and to sit at the bar for a drink. Cocktails are very unusual and unique. Excellent service despite being very busy.

I never had the pleasure of seeing this chef duo at the original parachute, but I came running the first few weeks they opened Parachute HiFi. The burger is as good as you can imagine, the melted fondue sauce on the plate is an amazing complement to the burger without making it “heavy”. The pad Thai was probably the best I’ve ever had, not traditional but oh my goodness, I am still dreaming about those noodles. Small space, get there early if you don’t want to wait a long time. We were sat at the bar and the staff were great, attentive and friendly without being invasive.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Parachute HiFi. The food was awesome and I especially liked the tofu pockets. We enjoyed observing the unique and tasteful decor. The music and vibes were relaxing. Loved the music and sound quality. The service was amazing and friendly. We left full, happy, and completely content. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

The new incarnation as HiFi is working well. It is a little bit like Parachute Simplified. When you come in it has a little bit of a 70's audiophile garage feel. (minus the smells...🤣) But wood paneling, acoustic tile ceiling, and lots of well loved vintage speakers, amps, and turntables. Luckily the theme does not extend to the seating which is modern, clean, and comfortable. The casual "hangout feel" is extended though. The long dining bar area reminiscent gives the intimate social dining feel of a Izakayas or indoor Kissaten. Then the rest of the seating is grouped in what feels like rec-room nooks where groups of friends or families might gather to relax. luckily with full height tables instead of coffee tables! There are also semi private booths along the wall to give small groups a feel of intimate private dining. The Music: Going back to the audiophile theme - We were too early for the DJ, but the effort put into the sound was impressive. The acoustic tile and sound system are set up such that the music is always clear and audible and well rounded, but not loud. This means that you can also have a casual conversation without having to raise your voice. I wish more places took this much care in thinking about the sound! The music was good the night we were mostly 80s new wave and art pop. Food: I loved the food at the original Parachute. It gave upscale and fine dining a run for its money anywhere else in the city. HiFi has taken that same Korean Fusion style but simplified and distilled the menu and leans more into the craft cocktail lounge space to make it a more casual "drop in with friends and relax" experience. This is reflected in the shorter dining menu, lots of sharable items, and much longer cocktail and traditional Korean wine and spirits selection. A lot of the items feel like elevated, reconstructed fusion takes on "comfort food" like the "cheeseburger", Spam Rice with Egg (delicious!) Thai Tteokbokki, and others are items that are straight up crowd pleasers like the Chicken Karaage (boneless fried chicken) that makes me feel comfortable that even my kids could find something to enjoy. We really enjoyed our meal, getting 3 items + a desert to share between the two of us and ending the meal feeling satiated and satisfied but not stuffed or heavy. it was a really wonderful dining experience. Drinks: I don't actually remember much about the drinks from the original Parachute, but they are really a standout in the new version. Many places have their own signature cocktails that are basically old standards with a couple little tweaks. often these are really impressive, as they upscale ingredients and put extra effort into a classic, but you can still immediately see what the original inspiration was. HiFi has list has taken another half step forward, and come up with some actual originals or at least picked more interesting and off the beaten path inspirations for their versions. They have also added several NA cocktails that seem to get the same level of attention and love , which is a pleasant change. We tried the milk punch, the shrub, and the whiskey apple and they were all delightful and complimented the meal well. Very well balanced and drinkable. I would like to go back and see if they have something a little more "challenging" but all the drinks we tried went along with the"comfortable" vibe. Sool! So this is a place where HiFi is a stand out. They go waaaay beyond Soju. There is a long list of traditional Korean alcohol, almost following it's evolution from home made rice wine/beer to more and further refined and then distilled spirits. Staff was well educated and knowledgeable and did a great job explaining and helping us make a selection. I want to come back and explore more! I just really wished they had a flight or tasting option in the menu. Maybe if we all beg they will do an event? I had a wonderful experience last night, and really look forward to my next return visit. The new version is very welcoming and comfortable.

Great atmosphere/vibes at Parachute HiFi in addition to the food being good - One of my favorite burgers in the city. They were out of the pad Thai so will have to go back to try that. Cocktails were unique yet good. Will have to also come back on a Wednesday to try the bing bread!

The burger is ridiculously good. By far the best burger I've had in years. Next time, I'll have to try it with bacon. All the dishes I had were packed with flavor. I tried the burger, the lettuce salad, the pad thai, and the yuzu italian ice. Service was great. Can't wait to return!

Can’t gush enough about how much I liked this place. Straddles the line between a vibe-y date night spot and a friendly neighborhood bar. They have a pretty slimmed down food menu where everything is a hit, but also with lots of cocktail and drink options. Had the Greek Salad cocktail (by some distance the best savory drink I’ve ever had), their burger (delicious and way more interesting than the description gives it credit for), the bing bread and crudite with ssamjang, and the boozy bingsu dessert (definitely a show stopper and not too sweet).

Splendid. We married Bing Bread with Salmon Nigiri, Chicken Karaage, & Kimchi Stone Bowl. The Bing Bread is delightful. The Salmon Nigiri was good, however, reminiscent of sushi. The Chicken Karaage was toasted to perfection. The Kimchi Stone Bowl was presented last and provided a tasteful finish. (Intentions of a return to try the burger)

Absolutely loved my meal here. Showed up around 5:45 on a Saturday and was immediately seated. A line grew quickly after we were seated so definitely arrive early. It’s a small and unique menu. Our mocktails were delicious and the Salmon Nigiri and Burger really impressed us. The ambiance and music really brought it to the next level. We will absolutely be returning! Perfect for a date night or cozy gathering with a few friends.

Had an amazing time at Parachute Hi-Fi. The sound of the space was warm and well rounded. Drinks were creative and fun with a great respect to the ingredients used. The food is well the food, delicious and novel with out being over done or too showy. Cant wait to come back.

Parachute HiFI is a VIBE! This restaurant has great music and the food was very good and lots of flavor. I ordered the Parachute Buger and let me tell you it was nice and juicy and tons of flavor and the Banana ketchup was very tasty. 10/10 the owner is very sweet and the service was great.

Relaxing vibe with great service and explaining dishes. Hamburger Korean style with fondue on the plate is a must. The unique pad thai with thick, street food pasta is also a well balanced flavor dish. Fries were good to munch on as well.

Everything was amazing! Couldn’t say enough nice things about our first experience here. From every bite of food, Budweiser on tap, and phenomenal cocktails to the music and above excellent and friendly service. It was all beyond our expectations. This place is a new gem in the city! Zac is a delight but the food speaks volumes… and the food is practically poetry. Korean in premise, World Chicago in fact. The banana ketchup is amazing and new!

We stopped in for a late night dinner and the burger, fries and Pad Thai were incredible. The desserts were truly standouts. The yuzu Italian ice was refreshing and the prefect texture. The tumeric ‘birthday cake’ with prickly pear icing was truly special. I had a tasty green apple cocktail that was well balanced and very easy drinking. They have the absolute most pleasant hand soap in the bathrooms that I have ever used. We were there on a Saturday night and there were two DJs spinning Soul music which was a great surprise. We will definitely be back.

I almost did not go because of some of the negative reviews, but after going, it is clear that the negative reviews are just whiny and dead wrong. This place is an experience. From the vibes and vinyl DJ to the excellent*** food. It is a bit pricey, and you probably shouldn’t go if you’re starving for a huge meal, but genuinely, it was so good. If you enjoy very high quality, intentional food, it is a must try! Also, my wife loves a good martini, and she was beyond impressed with the greek salad cocktail.

Love this place! has a DJ spinning vinyl from the '70s '80s and '90s mostly, and flashback, the sound system is plain old stereo with a top Macintosh preamp and amp driving some big speakers. But not too loud, just the right truly hi-fi like the name says. Very tasty comfort food and signature drinks. Enjoyed watching the bartenders at the bar making these drinks. Service was impeccable, attentive. Just a lot of fun. Will be back.

This was a great place for date night. Drinks were also super good. Overall they serve a smaller menu of options than I expected for food is my only complaint. On the other side they had music and an intimate atmosphere.

I really really REALLY enjoyed the set list when I visited this place. The food and drink was fine, but I was totally enamored with the music. It was the holidays so it was great to hear more of those Temptations and Jackson 5 tunes, but I was so excited to hear at least one Hanukkah song!

If you go during restaurant week 2026 save your money and do not order the prefix menu!The brisket jjajangbap was incredibly disappointing. It was a cold, hard, flavorless slice of brisket over white rice and the black bean sauce was so bland it was inedible. We were shocked that it cost that much and saw other people around us struggling to eat it. My partner and I also ordered a burger and fries to share. The burger came sliced in half and drowning in sauce, it was so messy to eat. The flavor was good but the bordelaise sauce was too sweet and overwhelming. I've had better burgers elsewhere. The ambiance is great and the DJ was spinning loungey deep house cuts on vinyl, which was the main draw for me. Everything was incredibly overpriced though. I got the NA cocktail with THC added and it was $15 to feel absolutely nothing. I love the concept and was excited to have a cute listening bar in my neighborhood. I think I would go back for a couple of regular cocktails and a snack to share, as their regular menu looked decent, but I do not recommend eating a full dinner here as you will leave hungry and broke!

So this place has been revamped from being a fine dining Korean establishment, to a more casual dining experience. The menu still reflects many Korean inspired components. However, the dj booth and blaring music has transformed it from what I presume used to be much more formal setting. I came here specfically to try their signature cheeseburger with bacon set atop a bordelaise sauce. The burger was very good but I would not be honest if I did not feel other places had better burgers. But I still enjoyed this tremendously! The fries was typical of other fries, nothing special here. But I did truly enjoy the side of house made banana ketchup. Its not as sweet as the Jufran brand but has a unique taste with the added chinese 5-spice. Im sure later in the evening its probably more bustling and hopping to the live dj, but still a very nice place, inviting staff and excellent ambiance and decor!

The burger is one of the best in the city! We ate at the bar, which is definitely the move unless you intend to spend a lot of time at the restaurant. Bar staff was great service. The rest of the wait staff appeared either over leveraged or lacking urgency. Since there are no reservations, nor a ticketing or name entry system, if you show up and there are no tables, you have to wait (awkwardly) in the small standing area. And, hope the service team remembered which spot in line you are in. Food and drink are 5/5. The nigiri has a cream cheese punch, which we loved. The pockets are also worth ordering. They’re sweet a with a satisfying chewiness. The cocktails have a savoriness that makes them easy to drink, alone. Worth coming back!

It’s hard to live up to how much love the original Parachute had in the Chicago food scene, so it was smart for the new Hi Fi concept to pivot toward a more casual vibe and reduce direct comparison to its predecessor Unfortunately however, the one point of direct comparison that remains is the area of greatest disappointment - the triumphant return of the much acclaimed bing bread is underwhelming, delivering little flavor and an overly stodgy texture. Not worth coming on a Wed just to catch this weekly special The tteokbokki pad thai feels like a bit of a misnomer, but a tasty one. The sweet, sour, nutty flavor profile has some of the same notes (and garnish) as a traditional pad thai without even if it doesn’t hit it dead-on, and the tteok’s texture is perfect - crisp exterior with a beautiful chew. Don’t get the shrimp add-on, as $8 for 4 overcooked shrimp dampens the overall joy of the dish It’s a bit expensive for the portion size and level of execution, but the service, vibes, and music selection are immaculate. Don’t be daunted by the lack of reservations either, especially if you’re coming on a weekday evening

I thought the food was OK. It wasn't quote my personal jam even though I love Korean food. But it's a great spot. I enjoyed the aesthetics and ambiance, the servers and bartenders were great, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It was a quality overall experience and I plan to go back and try another food item on the menu.

I am still baffled as to why I paid $23 for a small bowl of hot rice with a few chunks of spam - or - $28 for the worst Pad Thai I've ever eaten with a few pieces of undercooked shrimp mixed in. The vibes in the space were fun and the music was entertaining but the service and food delivery were painfully slow. We were sat at 5:30, it was still quiet. Toward the end of the meal as we were barely finishing our main entrees (which came out with at least 10 minutes between each), we were handed the bill and a forced apology when our server told us they limit seat times and we were at the end of ours.

Cool techno vibe here. After waiting 20ish mins, I was seated at the bar. Placed my order and the food came shortly after. I was pretty exited to try this burger due to the uniqueness. Unfortunately the taste didn’t match the look. The meat wasn’t very flavorful and was inconsistent as some parts were pink and others were burnt. The bun was also inconsistent as the center top bun felt stale compared to the soft exterior. And to no surprise the bottom bun became soggy quickly after hitting the plate. Neither the bordelaise or cheddar fondue had a strong flavor, but the pickles and onions were tasty. Nice to try something different than your typical smash burger, but the lack of consistency really hurt this burger.

We were put off by the disposable wooden chopsticks, paper napkins, and printer paper menu in a dirty plastic binder sleeve. Definitely doesn't fit with the price point. The food was alright. The cream cheese totally overpowered the nigiri, the fries tasted frozen, and the burger and crudite were fine. Expected much better for the price. But the cocktails were great and music was awesome! Loved the ambience, but were not pleased with the value.

This restaurant is… fine. Mediocre at best. Is the food good? Sure—if you’re looking for overhyped, “Asian-inspired” bites. The flavors are there, but nothing feels new. The tofu skin stuffed with rice and mushrooms? Tasty, but forgettable. The Tteokbokki Pad Thai? To borrow Miranda Priestley’s words: “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” The Face Down Burger? It’s just your average diner burger… flipped over. The drinks? Also underwhelming. If you’re just dipping your toes into Asian cuisine, this might be a fun spot to hang out. But if you’re after truly bold, authentic flavors, you’re better off saving your appetite for your favorite mom-and-pop restaurants instead.

If you're going to open a Korean restaurant, rice and kimchi shouldn't even be considered things that you could possibly mess up. One of our rices in our jajjangbap was a bit too sticky (even for short grain), but fine. The other was hard and undercooked. Apparently they make their kimchi in house—they'd honestly be better off sourcing from outside because it is seriously off. It wasn’t fermented enough, which is fine if they were trying to go for geotjeori—I love a good unfermented kimchi. But, I think they were missing some core elements. The jjajang sauce was too salty. I understand if they didn’t add pork belly for dietary accommodations, but I felt like it was missing some depth to it. Also, white pickled radish is not the choice for pairing with any jajjang dish. If they choose to keep offering a jajjang dish, I hope they source some danmuji (yellow pickled radish). It’s a completely different flavor and it matches jajjang much better. It feels like they compromised on non-negotiables. That being said, the small bites, drinks, and vibe of the place is great and I see a lot of potential. The tapioca appetizer was great—interesting, love the texture, etc. Loved the dessert, too, and I want to re-emphasize that the drinks were also good—they just failed in the most important part to me. Sound system was very nice and cool, which makes sense bc part of the brand is that it's a listening bar. However, they should consider changing the music they play. The jazz did not match the look or the menu at all. At one point they played an instrumental piece that straight up sounded like a murder-mystery horror film soundtrack from the 50s which is crazy considering that they give the option to add THC to drinks; why are you trying to get ur customers high and paranoid😭? The way the place is decorated (cool lighting, wood, mid century-ish), could fit R&B more. Would come back to sit at the bar and have drinks and small bites— and if they changed their music

This is specifically for their acclaimed burger… it was sloppy, incredibly soggy and not at all worth the hype. We had to eat the thing with a fork and knife there was no holding it. The cheddar cheese along with the special sauce was so overwhelming, that along with the caramelized onions, made it feel as if we were having French onion soup. Even the fries were meh. I was extremely disappointed.

Stopped by 45 mins after they opened on Saturday and the place was packed. The lighting and the music set a very lovely and intimate mood. Where the vibe change was the service. My party of 4 came in and noticed there wasn’t a host. A few moments after standing around, a waiter approached us and told us in an aggravated tone that it’d be 20 mins for a party of 4. We said okay great! Stepped outside because the restaurant is really small. We knew coming in that they didn’t accept reservations, what we couldn’t comprehend was not taking a name or number. We found out afterwards, you are expected to stand in this small restaurant and line up to wait and be seated. We didn’t know and stepped out as the space is the size of a living room, and realized that was a mistake. The line quickly backed up near the bar and into vestibule. The line was backing up so much patrons could hardly walk into the restaurant. After noticing the line backing up, we quickly checked back in and we’re told we needed to wait inside and would need to get back in line to be served. We decided to leave after that. I am okay waiting, but to be expected to line up in a vestibule for a chance to be served is unacceptable honestly. The line backed up enough to make ingress and egress difficult. Server had a bad attitude the moment we entered. Overall the place is trendy and appears to check the box for a neighborhood gem, but after this experience I don’t think we will be back. I think suggestions I’d make would be to simply get a host. Nothing about the vibe or reservation process would have to change, but it would ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons.

It’s unfortunate that the service and food were so lackluster when the ambiance and music were so good. My wife ordered the burger, and did NOT ask for bacon (extra $4). Yet, the burger arrived with bacon and she noticed it two bites in. When we alerted the server (politely), she apologized, which, thanks. But she did not offer to comp the burger and seemed annoyed at us. It’s the first day of Ramadan and my wife is Muslim. Eating bacon and then having to pay for the burger was not on the bingo card. For the prices charged by this establishment, the food was not up to the mark and the service was lacking. Disappointing since the music was so good!

Pretentious and cramped. Refuse modifications—which apparently also means literal food allergies. From small diners to chef’s counter tasting menus, I have never experienced a restaurant completely and totally unwilling to accommodate an allergy or have alternative options at the ready. Told by two different staff members that we “probably could not eat anything off the dinner menu.” Bartender was very nice. Budweiser was crisp, but gave the wrongful impression that service and mission would be unstuffy. It’s rare to find a restaurant in the 21st century that positions their recipes as untouchable and certain guests as unfit to dine there.

My partner and I had NYE dinner reservations for 7:45p and arrived just a bit early. We waited briefly in the entrance before the manager informed us that there were a couple tables open and that we could seat ourselves - seemed like poor form for guests with reservations, but we obliged. Upon walking to our table, I slipped on the wet floor (snow, ice, etc.) and nearly fell. I managed to stay on my feet and remarked to my girlfriend that I nearly biffed it making our way to the table, but was happy to avoid making a scene or getting injured. I'm admittedly kind of clumsy and my boots had zero grip - my fault for prioritizing fashion over function, I suppose. Our waitress presented us with a dirty, water-damaged menu once we were seated - no asking us how our evening was, if we'd dined with them before, any specials going on, etc. - again, odd, and a far cry from our previous dining experience before the restaurant had rebranded to HiFi. After briefly looking over the menu, the waitress returned and my partner asked about their cocktail menu - the waitress didn't seem to have any real opinions or recommendations, but after enough prompting, finally suggested something which my partner ordered. I ordered the cheapest beer on the menu, which I'd never had and didn't really give a second thought to. This is where it gets weird. Our waitress, unprompted, says, "We also have an excellent selection of non-alcoholic beverages." Befuddled, my partner and I look at each other, trying to parse out why this was brought up. The gears start turning in my head. My girlfriend says, "I think he'll just have the beer he ordered." The waitress leaves. Then, what I assume is the FOH manager comes over and repeats the comment about their non-alcoholic menu. He states that out of an abundance of safety for their patrons, they will not overserve. What?? We arrived to this reservation entirely sober, if not a bit tired - but we can only assume at this point that they're refusing to serve me because I slipped on their unmopped floor just moments before. At this point, I'm embarassed. My girlfriend is angry. He states that we are welcome to stay and dine but they would not serve me alcohol. At this point, we decide that we will be leaving. As I'm gathering our belongings, she has a private conversation with this manager to try and piece together why they came to this conclusion - and he insists there were "multiple indicators" that I was unfit to be served alcohol: 1. Me slipping 2. Me not responding to him asking if I was ok after that (Full disclosure: It's loud, I never heard him, AND I was trying my best to minimize the fact that I nearly busted my ish in a public space) 3. A claim that I smelled heavily of alcohol Again, not a sip of alcohol was consumed by my partner or I prior to this reservation. We are both in our forties and were looking forward to a kid-free night out at a fancy restaurant after weeks of holiday travel and various bouts with the flu. We had both worked earlier in the day (myself, unexpectedly, with a 4:30A start time) and had already begun talking about our day with one another when we sat down. Instead, we were treated in a way that felt discriminatory and unfair. We left with empty stomachs and pivoted to spend time with family and delivery from our favorite local Italian eatery (shoutout to La Villa!) - because we frankly deserved much better. I urge the staff at Parachute HiFi to brush up on their service etiquette - I am in the industry myself and they'd greatly benefit from some retraining in their front-of-house. It's clearly taken a nosedive since our last experience there during restaurant week a couple years prior - where our service and food were both exceptional - and we still have our signed menu from that evening! For all of those dining here in the future, I wish I could speak to the food, because we were greatly looking forward to trying their famed burger - but unfortunately we were not treated in a way that was worthy of our hard-earned money and precious time.
