Had a great time last night by celebrating NYE @the WIT. Our server Aury was very attentive and nice. Loved the food, but Brussels sprouts need to be more crispy. The party was lit
We tried to look up pictures of someone else’s order of the bao buns before we tried them, to no avail! So we took a chance on them and they were AMAZING! They’re packed with flavor (the shrimp and beef ones are non spicy, the chicken one is the only one with a bit of a kick) Highly recommend ROOF for a snack and the view and vibes!
Came here to enjoy an after work happy hour and loved it! We were a pretty big group but we were able to be seated fairly easily which was much appreciated. The drinks were really great! Had a wide variety and you’ll instantly earn cool points for having a Penicillin on the menu. Service was good too and this spot is absolutely beautiful - I walked in and was so amazed. I can’t speak to the food as we only tried the pizza which was good. Overall I’d definitely come back for drinks if I lived in the area.
Absolutely loved our evening at theWit Rooftop Bar! The food was delicious – the Thai chicken pizza, in particular, was a standout and full of bold, unforgettable flavor. The cocktails were top-notch, expertly mixed and beautifully presented. The ambiance was vibrant yet relaxing, with a perfect mix of energy and elegance. Service was flawless – attentive, friendly, and professional. And of course, the views of downtown Chicago were absolutely stunning. It's the perfect spot to unwind, take in the skyline, and enjoy a memorable night out. Highly recommend!
This is a cool rooftop bar with a lively party vibe in the heart of Chicago. The drinks are excellent, and the service is outstanding. The bartenders and servers are super friendly. The music is loud and energizing, so if you're looking to stay hyped, this is the place to be. In addition to the main bar area with a retractable roof, there's also a lounge-style section where you can relax and enjoy your food and drinks. This area also offers better views. Highly recommend for a fun night out!
We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We visited during the winter, but the rooftop view of the city was truly amazing.
From the check-in with Eric to the fantastic service at the Rooftop bar with Brian, our stay has been nothing short of amazing. Alex got us all squared away with our valet of the car with swift and prompt action. Raymundo helped with our luggage and was helpful with a few suggestions for our stay. The hotel’s vibe is super cool, and my wife and I needed a break from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are spacious and modern, and the food at the bar was incredible. We tried the sausage pizza, which was fresh and delicious, and the Angus beef sliders were juicy and well-seasoned. The lobster tacos were fresh and just the right taste, and our first time trying oysters was a blast - the texture and freshness were amazing. The views from the rooftop bar are breathtaking, and we definitely plan to come back again.
First time there. We inquired about a table. The guy at the hostess area states we either buy drinks up to $250 or we can buy a bottle for $300. He showed us the menu. I asked any bottle on this menu he said yes. The hostess girl said are you sure. He said yes. We said ok. We got a bottle of grey goose Our waitress was amazing. Thinking it would be about $400 the bill was almost $600. When I asked the waitress showed me the bottle we chose was $400. I said no the guy said any bottle for 300. She basically was like nope. They already had our card, so I go to the hostess and ask the girl that was there for the manager. She even said yes I heard him tell you that any bottle for $300. Because she said are you sure and he said yes . All of a sudden The manager was no where to be found so we just left. If he would had said a min of a $300 bottle I would have looked at the menu closer. But he said any bottle i would have just gotten one of the cheaper bottles which was champagne. But sometimes you have to just pay and call it a day. Other than that the atmosphere of people were so welcoming the music was amazing. And the pepperoni pizza was a nice snack after having some drinks.
There is something special about dining on a rooftop. Open, airy and spacious. The day was perfect; sunshine all around adding to the already scenic views. Kendall, our server had the perfect personality for hosting. She made sure we always had everything we needed. She was able to give detailed answers about the menu and suggest great drinks. The brunch menu is quite extensive, so many great options, including vegan and vegetarian. They have thought of everything. Bottle service is available if you are interested in elevating your dining experience. We each ordered different items and agreed that everything was delicious. The star of the show however was the chicken, cheese and herb empanadas. We had to order another round of those. Which came out with our second drink. Timing could not have been more perfect. The live Dj was nice; not too loud. We were still able to converse without yelling. Our work schedules don't allow us to get together that often. When we do, it's like it was just yesterday that we saw each other. Always nice to catch up. Good food and drinks make it worth it.
Got seated on time. Good views of skyline. Excellent service. Good drinks - ordered Expresso Martini, Mezcal Sour, Jalisco. Had Dip Tria for appetizer. Liked sweet pea and lemon ricotta - white truffle honey and red pepper hummus - toasted pine nuts, micro cilantro. Roasted eggplant was flat for my taste but good. Ordered Four Cheese pizza, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, S&P fries. Very tasty and good portion size for all servings. Recommended.
The place was very cozy and warm and also had another room for dancing. The food was delicious and different than I have ever eaten. Jordan, our waitress was very nice and helpful . The service was quick even though it was a Valentines Day, and it was busy.
You better go for happy hour is a great place to start the night, awesome drinks and yummy pizza
It's a whole vibe!!! I was at an Afrobeats day party and this place beautiful and the views are breathtaking. I loved it.
Excellent venue for any occasion! I attended a wedding cocktail 🍸 hour. The atmosphere was awesome! The decor was contemporary with a flair of nouveau. I loved the fact that the roof retracted. The seats were comfortable, and the bar staff were skilled in their craft, using stop shelf product to produce the desired drinks. I definitely would recommend this venue, and I would love to return myself! I would consider this venue for a personal event.
Wonderful service from Heather and great cocktails. We loved the view! It was very cozy, and the DJ was great! We can't wait to come back.
I went here with some friends for happy hour and we had a great time in the bright open space. We especially loved the cocktails (both on menu and off) that were made for us by Brian behind the bar. His craftsmanship and attention to detail did not go unnoticed by me and my party. The service from the whole staff was top notch.
Went back last night after a long time and love the remodel. The food drinks vibes were all fire! Forgot how great skyline views are here! Music is amazing too! Start your summer here!
Food choices are limited and on the pricey side but they're good quality. Happy hour for pizzas is the way to go. Several times I've been here, the bartenders were very attentive and nice. However, sometimes it is crazy busy there! Be prepared to order. The views are killer!
Service and staff were amazingly delightful. The drinks were very on point. The open air rooftop space was picturesque and met all of my expectations. The food was great with the exception of the taco bar. Maybe it is because I am from Texas, but the taco meat and elotes was not quite up to home standards. The meat was dry/tough and not quite flavorful enough and the elotes was dry and not zesty enough. However all the other food was great!!
Had an incredible experience at ROOF at theWit! The vibe was high-end and stylish, with amazing city views. The food was top-notch, drinks were on point, and the service really stood out—our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Definitely a must-visit rooftop spot in Chicago.
Had drinks and a quick snack on a beautiful Saturday! A DJ was playing and the atmosphere was fun. Cocktails were very good and they had a nice variety of choices for local brews. The pizza was very good and they offered gluten free options! The Wedge Salad was so good we forgot a picture until it was too late!
Went here on Monday night with a friend and Shelbi was amazing seated us immediately and made sure we were happy with our order. She recommended the spicy pepperoni 10/10 the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. And Frank made the best mojito I’ve had in Chicago! Frank and Shelbi made this a great night definitely coming back and inviting friends!
Had a great time here! Pizza was ehh but the burgers were delicious. Great vibes and music. Server was super nice and made it feel like home. The happy hour drinks did the job!
A special shout-out to the amazing Tamia 🎶 for blessing us with her timeless song “Still”—the perfect soundtrack to our 25th anniversary highlights @roofonthewit. The lyrics and melody captured our journey of love, faith, and commitment beautifully. Thank you for creating music that continues to inspire couples like us to cherish every moment. 💙✨
What a fun time! Great food and drinks! We had the lamb, steak and wings. Our server was fabulous and the DJ played the best mixes.
Only visited Chicago twice, however when I do, I stay at the Wit. Rooftop is big, airy and lively. Fun place for entertaining, drinks and food. Service is extremely nice and accommodating. You cannot beat the location, only one block away from the Riverwalk!
Wonderful rooftop bar with great service. They have a small, but amazing outdoor space with a handful of tables and a ledge to sit at. Feels great on an August night. Good night views! Wide variety of drinks, but could have more, in my opinion. Limited food menu available after 11pm. Outdoor closes at midnight on Wednesday nights. Overall, a wonderful experience. Some people may find the place a bit small. The indoor area is dark and music is playing, which makes talking a bit difficult. Would go back and is recommended by me.
This place is dope is ever. Man clean nice inside. They have different events here and they do get packed out. I had a room here so I was able to move around a little bit to see this well kept establishment. Great vibes clean drinks great Djs and all around had a blast coming here.
Coolest bouncers in Chicago. Haven’t come across such nice bouncers in all of my years. Shout out to Latto! He said he liked my shirt lol. And the music was so good. Dj that night was on point. Great variation of music that was super easy to dance to.
I can’t rate the food because we didn’t order any just made happy hour reservations and drinks were great, service was great, our waitress even gave us other recommendations of things to do while in Chicago. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, I recommend and would definitely return whenever I’m in Chicago. The weekends turn more into a club scene while week days are more relaxing and intimate.
I visited ROOF on theWit in Chicago and was struck by its dramatic skyline views — being 27 stories up gave me a stunning panorama of the city. The sushi and wood-fired pizzas were tasty, especially the Vegetable Roll & Margherita Pizza, though I found a few veggie dishes (or those modified) slightly over-salted. The vibe is upscale and energetic, with live DJs and a slick rooftop bar, but it got chilly sitting outdoors and sometimes uncomfortably loud. Overall, it was delicious and exciting, a great spot for cocktails and views, even if everything wasn’t perfect.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the slow service. Food came to the table in pieces and my party had to wait until the rest of our food showed up for each person before we dined; causing food to become cold before we could all eat together. Other than that it was a great experience and the ambience was fantastic. We’ll certainly be back!
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the entire experience was incredible. Our party of four was celebrating a birthday, and the attention to detail was truly unmatched. We were seated at the perfect table, and both the appetizers and entrées were top-notch. We never felt rushed, and our server, Sage (I hope I’m spelling that correctly), was a true professional—personable, attentive, and sincere. The manager, who I believe was named Bree, also stopped by our table to ensure everything was going well. Overall, the experience was memorable, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for everything!
Arrived at the restaurant and the host just directed me straight to the bar top due to just being one person which I assumed everything else was reserved. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks were very good. I ordered the cucumber gin and tonic which was really good. I also ordered pizza but that was a solid 7/10. The restaurant was very clean. Going to the restrooms was a bit confusing but was able to find it. The views are good but it’s all indoors which was good due to the chilly weather outside.
Food: I got shrimp on ice(basically 6 jumbo shrimp with the red sauce and mayo) they were nice but nothing special and not worth the price tag. You get same shrimp from Costco and at a better value. The cheese/meat/grabes/bread/fig platter was pretty good, worth the price tag. And the Korean chicken legs were pretty good, also worth the price. All in all, the worst experience was the shrimp, but even that was just "standard" so id give this place 5 on food. The drinks: vodka cherry lemonade were both really good, worth the price tag. I also ordered lychee passion fruit mule. But I think they were out of some ingredients so they improvised. Turned out to be something orange mule which still was pretty good. Service: in attempt to take a cute video with my gf with our drinks. I knocked over her drink and shattered the glass with drink going everywhere, someone took notice almost immediately and helped us clean up. Later, the server had the bar make us a new drink even though it was a few minutes after last call with no extra charge which was very kind. Unfortunately solutions to my random requests were a bit too slow from the server considering it wasn't busy at all and this is a pricier place, I was somewhat disappointed. In the end I'd still give service a 4. Atmosphere: ROOF itself doesn't actually have open air rooftop seating, it's closed roof. The views after sundown are not good, mostly because the light glare form the windows. But you can still see the city lights. I happen to catch the DJ which played decent chill club music. (I go to raves so take my "chill" with a grain of salt) Interior design was fine. I got reservations, but I think they aren't required, though the place is popular so I am pretty sure it gets pretty busy, plan accordingly.
What a great spot for a rooftop restaurant!! There is both a lounge/sofa area and tables. We got a table by a window for a great view of the city. When making a reservation, you can choose which one to sit at. The website emphasized a dress code to the point where you could get kicked out, so we went dressed to the 9's, only to go in and see a lot of people dressed down and not being addressed about it, so that was disappointing. I would have worn more comfortable shoes 😂 I found the menu is limited, I just got the potatoes which were great but that was all I could eat. This place is clearly a highlight for the ambiance and view!! Service/our waitress was also great, my friend didn't like her drink and she took care of us.
We came here for our Fourth of July dinner with family, and the experience was memorable in many ways. Located on the 27th floor of the hotel, the restaurant boasts a gorgeous and spacious setting with stunning views. The menu offered an impressive variety of cuisines — from pizza and seafood to sushi rolls, sashimi, and sliders. The food was overall quite good. I especially enjoyed the Spicy Salmon Roll, which had a lovely tenderness and a subtle hint of yuzu, and the Black Angus Sliders, which were incredibly juicy and complemented by flavorful sauces. However, I wouldn’t recommend the vegetable bowls; we tried the broccolini and mushrooms, but they were dry, overly charred, and not what we expected from a vegetable bowl. There was also a DJ playing some great mixes, which added a lively energy to the space. That said, the music was quite loud in the main dining area, with speakers positioned above each booth. At times, the bass caused our seats to vibrate, and we could barely hear despite sitting right next to each other, making it difficult to hold a conversation (this was for dinner ~7pm). This venue might be better suited for drinks and a vibrant pregame atmosphere rather than a quiet sit-down meal with family.
We made an online reservation. We were running late and I informed them beforehand. They were kind enough to accommodate us despite that. 🍸🍕Food & drinks - There are limited choices for food - it’s mostly pizza and some appetizers. We ordered the mushroom pizza and loved it. For drinks, it’s a bit pricey but still good. I recommend their pomegranate mule. My husband tried the old fashioned and said it was decent. 🎵Ambience - The music is really loud. If you’re looking to have a quiet dinner with drinks, this isn’t the place for it. It’s also pretty packed, which can feel uncomfortable given the pandemic. Service was decent given the crowd. Overall, I wish it wasn’t so noisy, but we liked the food and drinks.
Came for drag brunch… started 40 mins after the event was supposed to start. No singles for the performers, had to wait for a bank run… but that should have been done the day prior? The line started outside to go back inside where you were waiting anyway, now that was weird! Food was ok. Service was good. Performers was amazing!
I had a great time dancing all night at the rooftop club. The sliders were moist, full of flavor, and I would definitely order them again. Oh and please, please try the PIZZA!! YOU'LL thank me later. The drinks were also divine and strong. The ambiance was exciting, especially with it being St. Patrick's Day. The Dj kept the dance floor jumping. We had a blast!! Overall, it was an amazing time.
It's an indoor rooftop. Not my favorite kind but it was nice. Food was good. Drinks were good. A little cool as a fan was blowing on us so bring a jacket or shawl. Did go in the middle of the week. The weekend is probably better vibes.
Pretty empty on a Friday night. Closed down around 120am. Good music and nice indoor and terrace areas.
Went here on a Sunday afternoon. I wish we didn’t have to stand outside for a hour plus just to enter but the rooftop itself is outstanding. Great atmosphere! I would love to revisit. The food was great!
Great decor. We had reservations in lounge, great window table by fireplace. Stunning views. Excellent cocktail. Good music, can get loud. Small dance floor. Pizza oven. Beautiful bathrooms. Slow service but great attitude with a smile. Stylish crowd. Dress to impress.
Pretty but pricey! Paid $20 for one cocktail. They did have a happy hour menu but I didn't like their cocktail options. Loved the service although it seemed as if the host had a somewhat catty demeanor. Our server was sweet though! The decor and lighting was beautiful to say the least. I didn't try any of their food options because we were short for time but the drink I ordered, Ginger Snaps, was delicious. It was off of their Seasonal Cocktail menu. Mmm not too much more I can say other than book a reservation and that if you're taking a Lyft or Uber from this location to ask the front desk for assistance because it can be tricky for the driver to find you if the location isn't pinned correctly.
Came with reservations on a Saturday morning for brunch. Place wasn’t very busy when we got there. The inside decor makes it clear the place is a club in the evening but the music was chill at the time we were there. They came for our drink order - I wanted coffee but was informed the coffee machine not working so I get any. That was pretty unfortunate there was not any other coffee options available for a brunch. I ended up getting a mimosa instead. For breakfast, I ended up getting the Roof breakfast. I got scrambled eggs, and they were a bit overcooked for my liking. The potatoes had a nice crunch to them. I got sausage instead of bacon and I enjoyed the links. We also split the blueberry lemon pancakes. The toppings were light and weren’t nearly enough for the amount of pancakes there was. The pancakes themselves were cooked nicely. Shortly into our meal, the power went out in the building. They needed up opening up the doors to outside and we went out to enjoy the view. Being high up, it was nice to see the city from there. The waitress was kind as well and quick to help us. Overall, it was a very okay experience and meal. The breakfast dishes are pretty standard and limited in options. I wouldn’t seek this place out but would come if i was invited.
Arrived at theWIT and took the elevators to the top floor. It was 6:30 on Wednesday night but we still opted to make reservations. The hostess greeted us promptly and after seating a couple before us, we were escorted to our table. The views of the city are really nice. I noticed open tables so it was not extremely busy yet. After 15-20 mins of sitting and drinking water, a server had not greeted us. Even a stop by to say hello would have gone a long way. So I hailed a different server and she took our drink order and we just decided to place the apps and entree order since we had someone. Eventually our designated server did stop by and she was attentive the rest of the evening. Of the 4 cocktails we ordered, 2 were great and 2 tasted watery. The skewered chicken app was tasty but a bit over cooked. The white pizza was really good! I would have given a higher rating but service is important to me, esp at a higher end establishment.
If your looking for a nice upscale bar / restaurant / club to go to then this is your kind of spot! The waiter we had was amazing , she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The food wasn’t that great but the drinks were perfect. The main problem I had was when our guy group left out for about 10min they wouldn’t let us come back in to get our girlfriends and help them pay the bill. We felt racially profiled because the Caucasian guests that were walking passed got let up on the elevator with no questions asked. I’m not blaming this on the whole staff but this left us very uncomfortable and we spent good money with this business that night!
Avoid eating there, cocktails ok Terrible chicken wings for 30 usd, mediocre sushi for 30 usd.. cocktials were very good, but service was really slow. I ordered a beer and they bought a can? Without a glass to pour it? Very bad value for money except for the cocktails, nice view but wouldn't go back.
Disappointing experience at the rooftop bar. Despite the decent views, the service was practically nonexistent. Didn’t even get a chance to order drinks at the bar and waited... and waited. Zero attention from the staff, who seemed completely overwhelmed. Not exactly the vibe you'd expect from a trendy rooftop spot. If you're looking for a chill spot to enjoy the views, keep looking. 2/5 stars for the view, but that's about it.
