Holy shirt this place is great. I honestly feel like they are under-selling themselves because the food is so low priced. But I have to tell you a story. A man walks in with another person and orders a birria ramen. The sweet woman running the place has to tell him five minutes later that they are out of ramen. He tells her that that’s the only thing he’s ever ordered from the place. She offers him a plate that is more expensive in return. He tells her that he doesn’t eat meat. BUT HE ORDERED BIRRIA RAMEN. She very respectfully asked him why he ordered birria If he doesn’t eat meat. He makes a stupid excuse. My man. Do better. You are stupid. End of story, try the food. The salsa bar is very nice as well. 😘
please hit like if you think I was accurate thank you. I wandered into this little marvelous restaurant. Family owned and operated. I just needed a snack so I ordered 4 tacos. Steak and pastor. I was noticed the had a salsa bar and 5 pitchers of juice. Homemade horchata was very sweet and very good! The tacos came out quickly and where the best I have had in a long time. I hear the #6 chilli relleno.personally the best way to go is pastor.
100%. This place is great. Ate here almost a year ago and loved it then too. Very tasty food and great service. Condiment bar and complimentary chips and salsa. Its become a regular place to get dinner once a month with my son.
Great food and really friendly staff. Highly recommended.
My daughter recommended this place to me after I expressed disappointment with another place where we had lunch. I ordered a burrito and was very pleased. They didn't offer a spicy option, but there was a spicy salsa that I added to my burrito.
Love love love this place!!! Great food and good people!! Family environment and excellent customer service!! Clean and freindly❤️
Didn’t know this gem was here and it’s freaking awesome! 10/10. The rice and beans are excellent. I tried the chimichanga which is not my usual go-to and it was the best decision. And they have ice cream.
Absolutely delicious. I got an egg and shredded pork burrito early in the morning 🌯😋 it was heaven. Salsas are on point!
Beans and rice have a lot of flavor, unlike a lot of other places in town. Carne Tacos are really great, along with their special fish tacos
Let me tell you something this place is 100 out of 100. I have never been to a Mexican Taqueria where the beans and rice are tasteless. Everything that we ordered on the menu is not tasteless. It’s perfectly come here spend your money. Promise you will not be disappointed
Great taste and atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again. The service was friendly and fast.
Great food and very nice people. Have yet to try the ice cream and they seem to have unique flavors. + the salsa bar is awesome too. 10/10 always coming here for my Mexican food craving.
I come here every so often for lunch and I have to say their Burrito supreme de asada and their quesadilla de asada taste SO BOMB! They never miss with their salsa nor seasoning which is a big win here considering most other restaurants play it safe here in Chico. One of my top spots for sure!
In a town with plenty of good Mexican places, this taqueria stands out. The people are friendly and helpful, and I love the food. My go to is the Tapatia burrito with chicken. Amazing. This place is on my regular rotation now. You should check it out too.
We love Las Tapatias! It's our go to neighborhood Mexican restaurant, we even had them cater our wedding. Our guests all raved about the food! Their fish tacos are my favorite and we have to get their aguas frescas every time we're there!
The burritos were amazing and a very nice size which is rare in 2026. We were able to cut in half and save half. The atmosphere is really nice too with the salsa bar and ice cream areas. I moved to Reno and mostly don’t try new stuff when I visit Chico so was nice to not be disappointed. Highly recommend
Hands down one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had! Everything tasted fresh and homemade: the guacamole was perfectly chunky with just the right lime kick, the carne asada was tender and smoky, and the mole sauce was rich and complex (you can tell it’s made with love). The staff was so welcoming and attentive without hovering. I’m already planning my next visit here.
Amazing food. Amazing service. And it’s an ice cream shop? Hidden gem for sure. 💖 I will raving and recommending to everyone in town. I think I found my new favorite.
Tasty authentic mexican cuisine at a fair price. Expect to pay around $10 to $15 per person for lunch. Good portions served hot and fresh. Lunch time can get busy so expect a delay between 11:30am to 1pm. The chips and salsa are complimentary along with a great salsa bar. After 15 plus visits my experience of Las Tapatias is consistently positive. It's one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in the area.
My first time at this restaurant and it was delicious! You have to order, pay and find a table. There weren't a lot of people so lots of tables to choose from. We ordered tacos de asada, California fries, tacos dorados de papa, California burrito and tacos de birria. Everything was soo good! They have lots of salsas to choose from. And Aguas frescas. They also have tables outside. Overall great service and awesome food. I would definitely go back and recommend it.
I absolutely love this place. The owner was so sweet to personally come by and congratulate us for finishing this semester at University. Ignore the negative reviews from around Dec. 8-13. Those are literal children trolling and trying to bring the restaurant down over some boy drama 🙄. We always crave their Micheladas and pozole 🤤. They let us pick out the beer we want and they are so delicious ❣️since coming to study in Chico, leaving the Bay Area I was scared I wouldn’t find authentic Mexican food. Once my friends showed me this place, I will never search for another. This is my go to! 🥹
Good food not so americanized. Authentically great. If everybody likes Mexican food, this would be another good restaurant to mix into places to go.

I'm from so-cal, so Authentic Mexican food is a necessity. Here, at Las Tapatias Taqueria, it comes pretty close to feeling like I'm having a meal back home. Amazing flavors, salsas, Huge menu! The servers, and cooks are top tier! Highly recommend! I usually get the street tacos, but decided to get the taco bowl this time. Very nice portion size, delicious, and will order again!
My husband and I love to enjoy a good Mexican meal through the week. Being new here to Chico means finding a new spot to get our cravings fix and we found it! To the customer service, the choices we get to chose from, down to the sauce was so good for both my husband and I. Usually we will have at least one thing we do not agree to our liking. But this place has surpassed our judgements. It's a well kept store, super cute, great service, and great food! We will definitely come back and explore the menu and can't wait to try their ice cream.
The steak tacos are so amazingly yummy, the service is always friendly. Food is usually out pretty quick unless they are super busy. Ate here several times and everything is always on point. They have a fairly large menu too, try the shrimp soup or the fish diablo, everything is delicious.
Oh my gosh, wow.. This place has ruined me for any other Mexican food joint. It's amazing. We have good Mexican food in Chico, but not like THIS. I'm sitting here wondering if I should go home, or go order more food and eat myself sick, because it's THAT good. Service is great, environment clean and beautiful, salsa at the salsa bar incredible.....I'm cooked. Can't wait to go back.
I'm from socal and have had a ALOT of good breakfast burritos in my time. Everytime I come to Chico to visit my family, I get the breakfast burrito here. It's so so so gold and their salsas are awesome! Could not recommend enough!!!

This place is a great little taqueria. Birria De Res was incredibly expensive, but incredibly delicious as well. They have some unique items like a Hot Cheetos Burrito. I really enjoyed the place and the food. Looking around the room it seemed I was not the only one that felt that way.
I ordered the burrito supreme with carne asada. The total came out to be right under $14. It came with a small basket of chips. I really liked the salsa bar, they all had great flavors. The burrito was smaller than i expected, especially for $14. I do really liked the customer service there. If burrito has more fillings, i would give a 5 star.
The food is great! 5 stars. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the wait time to receive our food was kinda ridiculous almost 45 mins meanwhile the restaurant was empty and kitchen quiet. The only other thing was the Horchata Agua fresca that was clearly made with powder rather then the authentic very disappointing :/
Los Tapatias was recommended by a lovely Lady who said their fried mojarra fish was a favorite. We got there past 7PM for our first try and sadly no fish left. Oh well, my female companion ordered 2 Ceviche Tostadas, under $10 both? She liked the way it was presented, all dicing small while nice amount. She added extra hot sauce as she enjoyed one. Gave me the second one, and even though it was good enough, I found the food a tad above average. Tamale dry, $4.99? Tortillas chips in a small quantity were offered, and their red sauce was average at best. They had a few in their salsa bar, but after trying a greenish supposedly hot sauce, very liquified, not impressed. I ordered Camarones Sandiados$ for $17.99. Grilled with shell on, hot sauce covering a nice amount of medium to large size shrimp. Beans, rice, and a little wore out salad. A silly quesadilla was served, plain under average. I prefer no shell but overall easy to finish, with corn tortillas on the side. 4 Stars. Flan 🍮 for dessert, $4.99. Nice version, nice size compared to other places. 4 Stars. Water tasted fine. Service was pleasant but a bit slow. Total w gratuity $44+?. Nice regional music. 3.5 Stars. 2nd visit as it appears my female companion has grown fond of their Sopes, and specially their flan. So this day at around 7 PM she ordered Carne Asada Sope, and Fried Chicken Taco. Is it me, or did she eat the food in record time? She is becoming a serious threat to big eaters everywhere, which is a good thing for a good appetite means not ready to kick the bucket. Monkey see, monkey did, I ordered a Chicken Enchilada and a Tamal. The enchilada was definitely better than the tamal by a wide margin, and since they said it’s made in house I strongly advise a refreshing course and a new recipe. One end was rock hard, too long on the micro, or way past it’s prime, never again. Making a good tamale takes serious skills, and not because you covered it with sauce, etc. will be better. Flan was enjoyed later and must say it’s good quality. Bill almost $25, plus generous tip on her part. Why so generous I asked, to which she replied: shut it! Looks like the same score again. 3.5 Stars. 5-18-2023 Brief report concerning their ceviche, $16.99. Today I fell for it while driving by. Initially I asked for their Tostada Ceviche, $7.99, but I was persuaded to go big. Yes, what came to the table was sizable, but the ceviche was definitely a no repeat under any circumstances. The best part was the half of a fresh avocado. Why, you might ask was no good? Fish was mushy, almost puréed texture, seasoning lacked in so many ways, it simply condemned the already mushy fish. The citrus used for their Mexican ceviche tasted bland, watery, as if freshness had dissipated into the air. This probably was the worst purchase in the ceviche department, and here is my revelation. The best Ceviche in this mighty old world comes from Peru, it's an art form so well mastered that the final result is delicious. The big big difference is that the better ceviche starts raw, with the freshest fish, while others ceviche the fish is pre cooked. Why did I ask for ceviche at the tapatias? I naively thought it would somehow do the job. Instead I ended with an insipid concoction, and wasted good money. 1.5 Stars.
Order at counter and then served. Friendly and nice. I came for the “life changing” cheeto burrito but I tried the most popular Tapatias wet burrito. Cheeto burrito did not sound good after arrival. Tapatias was good but next time I would add some spice to it available at table.
Our first time here. Looking for Mexican food late on a Sunday after a busy weekend we stopped it. The place was very clean. I ordered the taco salad, my daughter got the hot cheeto burrito, my son and husband shared nachos and street tacos. My daughter said the burrito was hotter than she thought but good, needed some milk to finish it. I enjoyed my taco salad. The husband said his nachos weren't very good. I think we'd go again and try a few different things.

Tacos were good everything else mid at best.
2nd time. The pita chips are still bad. Not tortilla chips. The music is too loud. Chilled Relleno as awesome as before. Sopes are way over cooked, and Gordita is just a Sope sliced open(?)
Seems like a place people like. My food was okay, my Wife and father said they loved there's. She got 2 crunchy tacos that were really good. He got the carnitas plate also really good. I got a super burrito the burrito was small but had good flavor for the most part. Little to much beans. Also the chips were stale you would think for around noon the chips would be fresh. The red salsa is pretty borning there is no kick kinda taste like it's coming from a can. But I would go back the young lady working the counter was very kind and a young man covered in tattoos was also really kind to all the customers.
Came here becuase it was recommend by a coworker. Purchased the posole. Not a good choice. Expensive plate for a few pieces of meat that tasted frozen. Waste of money. Place is also very cold, so if you decide to go take your own personal heater. I gave it 2 stars becuase the aguas frescas were the best 👌

I had been craving a fried chimichanga for WEEKS now. I came to this place because they said that they make one. I was very VERY disappointed in the presentation, the taste and just the overall experience. The beans and rice tasteless ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Not only did the chimichanga taste like the fat from the pork and NOTHING else it was slightly bigger than a frozen Tina's burrito that you buy at the supermarket. It was fried, but laid open like it had been cut with a knife. To add insult to injury there was a SALAD thrown on top of it! If I hadn't already been across town and the fact I hadn't eaten all day I would have went back and told them how I felt. I don't know how they can be happy serving food like that. The best thing that I bought there was the chips and salsa. I will NEVER EVER go there I recommend them to anyone.
You guys need better cooks !! Went in today sat an ordered a steak burrito mostly beans no rice hardly in it or meat lame !! never again am I eating at this restaurant
I wanted to try this restaurant for the first time tonight. I came in at 8:30 wanting to see a menu, with the intention of placing a small order to go. The women behind the counter greets me with, " Ahhh Sir, we are closing...we aren't taking orders unless you already called it in." Deadpan expression and condescending in the extreme. I run a call center with about 10 employees whom I buy dinner for minimum of 3 times every 7 days. I had every intention of making your restaurant my go-to place for half of that action. Not now, though. She has a real "get out" quality to her and I am going to do as she says.
I ordered a supreme burrito. It was awful, bland, and had no taste what so ever. Purely overcooked rice with very little chicken, sour cream etc. as described on their menu. Even had my daughter take a bite and she said it was gross. First and last time I will visit. Did I mention the 4 inch piece of commercial plastic inside? Dont waste your money, Taco Bell is better.
Paid for a regular carne asada burrito with no rice. To go. Got a bean burrito with a few pieces of meat here and there. If i wasn’t on the road already i would have gone back. If the beans would have been good i would have been happy, but not even that. Zero stars from me if i could.

Make sure to place your order here if youre looking to be placed on hold and forgotten about. I was asked if I could hold meanwhile I heard them take 6 orders after the person in front of me before I finally hung up and ordered from Los Betos instead. Great food though.
The food has lost it’s authenticity. Used to taste like Mexican food but it has no flavor anymore. My burrito came with purple cabbage and no seasoning.
