Traveling through town without a lot of options. This was like eating at grandmas house not for the vibe but for the quality of food. The local high school game was on the radio TVs going they poor a great drink the husband wanted a shot and they took the time to chill it when it was certainly busy. They went out of their way to provide quality service and food. The gravy was amazing we had the hamburger steak with gravy and ribeye with mushrooms and gravy. We ate it all left a small bite for our pup as a treat. We will definitely stop by here again Most importantly we had been in Tyler earlier in the day and had eaten top rated BBQ some of the best we’ve ever tasted so we thought we were done for good food for the day at least rained in opinion but nope this was good too!!

While staying overnight in Childress, TX, we found this great lil’ place. Family owned & operated, the staff was super friendly & personable & the food was excellent! The fried pickles appetizer was tasty! My chicken fried steak was GREAT & my wife & daughter both had burgers that were perfection! 👌🏽

Great place to eat and have drink. The food is always great and fresh. Drink are amazing. The restaurant staff is very friendly Nita the owner and bartender is very friendly and attentive to the customers. Highly recommended for parties as well.

Really great food with good service. We got the appetizer sampler with fried mushrooms, cheese stocks and fried cauliflower in it. The fried mushrooms are portabella and one of my favorite menu items. The fried cauliflower is fabulous too. For out meals we got the special Birria tacos and 10 oz rub eye steak with green beans and loaded mash potatoes. The tacos were wonderful and took the win for our meal. The steak was good and cooked right, but my husband said it tasted even better in the birria sauce.

What an amazing little gem y’all have here in Childress!! We are from SETX passing through on the way to Denver. We travel fairly often are always on the lookout to support local. Hubs had the hamburger steak, with mashed potatoes and okra. Everything was FRESH and freshly made. Real okra!!! Not frozen…or if it is, they do a good job of making it taste fresh. Great food takes time, so please be patient. This is a small, locally owned establishment and the owner is a working owner. Leave room for dessert!!

Pleasant surprise in Childress as we were passing through. The food is actually homemade all the way: hand cut fries and mashed potatoes and hand-breaded chicken and chicken fried steak. If we weren’t just passing through with a few hours still to drive, would have loved to have a few drinks and play some pool as well. Next time in town we will stop in again!

Chicken Fried Steak was correct. I'm a big believer in making standard fare correct. Make it correct, and it's good. And it was good. And the Chilton was outstanding. West Texas classic done correct. The Chilton alone was worth the trip.

It was a nice place to just get something to eat a little later. I had the fried chicken and gravy. I haven't had others to compare with but it filled the spot

Stopped here on my way up to Denver from Johnson City. I had the Chicken Fried Steak while my Dad had a Cheese Burger. We both thought it was pretty good; I especially liked the atmosphere. It’s pretty clean and well taken care of. Service was great too; food came out pretty quick although granted it wasn’t super busy since we came on a Thursday night. Never know when I’ll ever be back in town but if so, I’ll be sure to stop by again.

And this was on a slow night. And it wasn't just us, either. Every table around us was waiting on food. There were four parties of two. The wait staff should be really angry with the kitchen. Do not go if you're on any kind of schedule, or hungry, or with little kids...
