We stopped in after a long flight and picking up the rental car because our children were hungry. If it's not the standard meal-times in Italy, the Autogrill is your best bet. For whatever reason, the Burger King was not open in the late afternoon on a Friday. There was still other food, but not at Burger King.

We went for burger king and the staff was incompetent not even know their offers and menu or maybe they knew them but they didn't want to be used. Shame because it's rare to find a burger king on the motorway. There should be more

Unfortunately, I have to share a very concerning experience regarding Autogrill’s policy on accessing showers on the Italian highway. When I wanted to use the service, I was asked to leave my identity document—without any information on how my personal data would be protected or whether this practice complies with data protection laws (GDPR). To safeguard my privacy, I offered an alternative: leaving my wallet with my documents inside, but in a way that would keep them covered from employees and cameras while still being accessible to the staff. However, my solution was rejected with the simple explanation that “this is the regulation.” When I asked to see the official regulations, no one could provide them. The employees referred to the head of the Autogrill PIT-stop network but offered no alternative that would respect my right to data protection. This raises serious questions: 1. On what legal basis is the requirement to leave an identity document enforced? 2. What data protection measures does Autogrill have in place? 3. Why is there no transparent policy informing customers about this? This is not the first time I have used showers at service stations and truck stops in Italy, but in the past, leaving car keys was sufficient—without any interference with personal data. The current procedures are not only outdated but also raise serious concerns about their compliance with legal standards. I do not blame the employees—they are simply following orders. But I do hold the Autogrill management responsible for enforcing a policy that disregards basic customer rights. I expect a public clarification, the publication of the relevant regulations, and an explanation of the legal grounds on which this practice is based. If this issue remains unaddressed, Autogrill risks losing the trust of travelers, especially in an era where awareness of data protection is higher than ever.
