This is an adorable, locally-owned little breakfast and lunch spot in Condesa. The proprietor and her wife offer healthy and also decadent options for a reasonable price and will make sure you don’t leave hungry. For breakfast your meal comes with house coffee and your choice of juice, fruit or bread. For my husband and I the total was 320 MXP. You can’t beat that price in Condesa.
This is a wonderful little restaurant full of character with lovely friendly owners. They really do have an amazing eye for detail, from the spicy peanuts and garlic to start, to the butter flavoured with basil, to the use of a particular cactus flower in the tlayudas. We also had the vegetarian cerviche which was truly delicious and could have easily eaten two plates. We love this place and cannot recommend it enough.
We came upon this place on our first day in the city and enjoyed the menu del dia which offers 3 courses and a drink for a reasonable price. The homemade tostada offered with bread and basil butter were a delicious extra touch - we bought some tostadas to have later! The service was super kind and friendly and even gave us advice on other places to try, since the downside is this place is only open daytime Monday- Friday / would definitely go back to try the more extensive regular menu if I’m in the area at lunchtime
This place is so good I almost want to gatekeep it, but they deserve to be so successful. The owners are a cute couple: an amazing chef in the back and her wife running the front of house. The food is authentic, delicious, and a great value, and the service is wonderful, taking the time to explain the menu to us and make recommendations. If you can, also take time to check out the cultural center upstairs. This place restored my faith in humanity.
What a wonderful find! The bright colors and welcoming atmosphere drew me in as I was walking past here and it did not disappoint. I stopped for a lovely cafe de olla and pastry and they were both delicious. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I wish I could have stayed and tried lunch but it was my last day in Mexico City. Next visit for sure!
Visited this restaurant for breakfast and had a delicious omelette, juice and tea! The lovely waitress/owner (I believe) explained the menu in detail and the significance of the food. It was delicious and a very reasonable price! She helped us with our dietary requirements: gluten free and vegetarian. The decorations were beautiful inside and out! Highly recommend to any locals or visitors 💕
We had the Tamal de Rajas with Flor de Maguey and the Tlacoyo with requesón and salsa Verde. They were delicious, especially loved the nopales salad in the Tlacoyo. Super fresh and tasty. The server was helpful in providing recommendations. The price is very good especially since it includes coffee or juice.
My husband and I found Restaurante KUNI while looking for a good place for lunch near La Condesa, and it turned out to be an absolute gem! We sat at a table in a relaxing outdoor patio setting. We were served by Alaide Ibarra herself, who—together with her partner and chef, Lupita Herrera—created this beautiful and creative menu of delicious Mexican cuisine. We trusted Alaide’s personal guidance as she described and recommended several dishes for us to share so we could explore the authentic flavors of some of their favorite creations. We started with Oaxacan coffee (café de la casa), infused with aromatic spices from Oaxaca, and a fresh juice made from pineapple, white guava, and ginger—a refreshing and flavorful beginning for the meal. We tried the Tamal de Rajas — tender corn masa surrounding roasted poblano pepper strips and Oaxacan cheese in a sauce made from jitomate riñón, a sweet, oval Mexican tomato, enveloped in a plantain leaf. The dish had an enjoyable sweet and savory flavor. The Omelette de Chicharrón Prensado, an egg omelet filled with tender pork simmered in a smoky guajillo chile sauce with purple epazote, had a well-balanced rich and slightly spicy flavor , allowing us to savor every bite. We also tried the Tlayuda Vegetariana composed of a crunchy handmade blue corn tortilla, layered with refried beans, Oaxacan cheese, fresh cactus salad (nopal cactus, tomato, red onion) avocado, and aromatic herbs. It was fresh, vibrant, and full of texture — a wonderful vegetarian expression of Oaxacan tradition. Finally, we finished our meal with a homemade pumpkin and chocolate cake. Delicious! Every dish reflected their passion for fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and artistic presentation. The experience felt both personal and special, and Alaide made us feel genuinely welcomed. KUNI perfectly captures the soul of modern Mexican gastronomy while honoring its traditions. Whether you’re visiting Mexico City or live here, KUNI is a must-try in La Condesa. We can’t wait to return for more delicious tastes at an extremely reasonable price!
Incredible authentic local spot. We went for breakfast & it was fantastic the co-owner was the hostess and she explained all the amazing ingredients and the traditional dishes and were the source from. We got traditional chilaquiles and the omelette de flor de maguey which we’ve never had this flower ingredient before and it was so delicious & savory & healthy as well. Both dishes came included with this amazing spiced coffee (it wasn’t bitter at all and I’m normally not a big coffee fan) & a fresh made pineapple guava ginger juice or these deliciously sweet mangos. At the end we got a sampling of the traditional “tears” candy drops that were bursting with flavor. Thank you so much for a great meal and all the information! Had we stayed longer we would come back for the other menus! Highly recommend and can’t wait to visit on the next trip!
My third trip to Mexico City, and this was the best meal I’ve had here, including some Michelin experiences. Gorgeous, elevated Mexican food, though very reasonably priced. Everything was so delicious, and thoughtful, and beautifully presented. Prioritize this meal, and give yourself time to linger.
Everything we ordered was absolutely deliciously—from the veggie tlayuda, to the rajas tamal, to the meal of the day (of which every plate was tasty)! The staff is clearly passionate about what they do, and the food is co clearly made with love! The decor is eclectic and artsy, featuring traditional and non art throughout. Prices are very reasonable as well! A must visit
Came here for the vibes and was blown away by the food! Sadly, I discovered this place on my last day visiting CDMX or I would have eaten here every day. Every single detail from napkins, bowls, trays etc has been expertly chosen & creates the most amazing culinary experience. You can taste the love in every bite. Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of us while we were there!
Amazing gem in Colonia Condesa! You have to eat here if you are in the area. The pork leg in banana leaves (can't remember the name of the dish) was incredible! You can share it with 2 or 3 people, and you get tortillas, salsas and cilantro with it. The service is incredible, the lady is so nice. And the whole place is very artistic and creative. Just going to the toilet is an experience in itself. Enjoy!
We had lunch here today and loved it! The place is charming and vibrant, filled with colorful details that create a welcoming atmosphere. The owner was incredibly kind and attentive, taking the time to walk us through the menu and recommend dishes. The food was outstanding—easily some of the best we’ve had in Mexico City. You can truly taste the heart and soul poured into every dish. Highly recommended!!!
