First time in 12 years since I had Yen Ta Fo in Thailand and this is the first time I have seen it on the menu. Thank you for the experience. I’m coming back to this place for authentic pad Thai next time :)
I came here last night with a big group, and by the end of the night, I can honestly say it was worth the wait. The restaurant is in a pretty small plaza just off the freeway, and parking is super limited, especially during busy hours. There were cars waiting around for quite a while, and most of us ended up parking on the side streets. We had to wait about 40 minutes before getting seated. Once it was our turn, we were seated right away. Our server brought out drinks quickly and gave us plenty of time to figure out what we wanted. Since we had a large group, we ordered a bunch of different dishes and shared everything. The portion sizes were big, which made it easy to try a little of everything. The Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and curries were all really good. But the dish that stood out the most was the Indian curry noodles with beef soup. If it’s your first time here and you’re not sure what to get, definitely go with that one. I had the red curry, which was solid, but those noodles were on another level. Service was quick and efficient. A lot of the staff might not speak English fluently, so don’t expect a ton of small talk, but they were friendly and got everything we needed. All in all, I was really happy with the experience and I’d absolutely come back next time I’m in the area.
I love this place! Nat, Tim and Eve are so awesome! My order's perfect and the food is absolutely delicious! I usually order tom yum kuon, white rice and shrimp chow mein oh and fried banana! Good prices and the restaurant is very inviting, clean and upscale. Best in town! Big thumbs up!!!!
I got the pad thai and I was in heaven! The other people in my group really enjoyed their food as well. The portions are huge compared to the price. We got a couple of things to share because we thought they would be smaller due to the low price, but we had way more food than we could eat. The staff was very quick and the food came out quickly as well. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Thai food.
When craving for Thai food while driving in the Pomona, Montclair, or Claremont area…. This restaurant, Sanamluang Thai Cuisine, always pops-up in my head. Very easy to access, just off the 10 Fwy at Indian Hills Blvd, half of block to the north. Huge parking lot but maybe packed during lunch or dinner time, saw a security guard walking around in the area which gave a peace of mind at the moment. We ordered Pork leg over rice and a noodle dish, Yen Ta Fo. We were very satisfied with the authentic taste of these dishes.
No.9 is the magic number to order. Garlic Pork Spare Ribs taste like "meat candy." One of the best restaurants in the I.E. Everything you want in a great dining experience. Location...(off the #10) in Claremont...ambience (pulls a packed house at 3:00 pm)...service = 5☆'s...very (professional)...and most of all...the exquisite food (huge selection)...Thai tea (most refreshing). The elegant lady owner has done everything right for our maximum dining pleasure. Food served with the kind of pride that only comes with consistent excellance, (cooked the way you want.) Beautifully designed interior, always fresh flowers. Restrooms are what you'd find in Beverly Hills. Overall...this "relaxed elegance," great food, fine smart servers and assessability come together to make this a 5☆ preformer. P.S. On my top 10 Restaurants list.
Before I start just a heads up - this place has some issue with parking...some of the other businesses are fighting over parking and threatening the patrons of this business with impound, see signs in the parking lot giving warning.. Beware of where you park...check with restaurant staff or map at entrance for their spaces, if you are not sure. Enough about that...as for my visit the restaurant is comfortable and clean. Cool spot to be this warm summer day. Service was fast courteous and professional. Food was delicious and served hot and fresh. Prices are about average for most Thai sit down restaurants in the Los Angeles County area. I ordered the beef Pad See Ew and and Thai Iced Tea and both were better than some of the other restaurants in this area....definitely food was delicious and what you should expect for this dish. The tea needs a little more tea and not so much half and half...but that is just me who likes a stronger thai tea. Definitely will be back and I do recommend a visit to this place...it's just off the 10 Fwy which makes it an easy find.
Coworkers and I came here for lunch and will definitely be back! The food is so good I ordered the pad see eu with shrimp and fried shrimp. Both very delicious! We got chicken satay to share and it wass also very goood. Located on the corner it's easy to find and parking is easy too
I swore I have already wrote a review on this place, but I guess not. I have been going to this authentic Thai Cuisine since 2013, when they were at their owls location. Their food is always spot on, and their staff has always been nice. They must have done something right for them to move to another location, 2 or 3 times their original location furnished with great seating and awesome decor. Too bad people can only experience togo at this time due to COVID-19, but they have made changes to make it safe for their customers. They have installed plexiglass by the registers and have different social distances spacing when you are picking up or ordering togo. One other thing to note, is that they will text you when your order is ready. This is extremely useful as it does take some time for your order to be ready. Keep note that every time I ordered, it seems to be at least a minimum of 40 min wait. Food Although I have tried many things on their menu throughout the years, I’m gonna list the ones I ordered this time. Papaya Salad - always really good, they always put this in an extra bag in case the juice was to leak out. I’ve had it spicy or no spicy, never disappoints. Pad Thai Tofu- really enjoy their pad Thai here regardless of what protein you want to put. The noodles and sauce, is always consistent with the bean sprouts, peanut toppings worth the side of lime. Spicy Mint Leaf Fried Rice - one of my favorites at the place! It’s just enough spicy that you want more each time, but not too spicy where you need to stop. To make this dish even tastier, they add half a salty egg to go with it. Delish! One thing to know, is that you can request things in your order, like not having something included, no msg, etc. Again, if you want Thai food and you live around the area, give this place a try. Food is always on point (although it takes a while, but worth the wait), and they are very generous on their portions. The added COVID -19 measures makes me feel safer to order from here.
My favorite Thai place. I always over eat when I come here. Most every dish is so tasty! I love the beef salad, fried rice, pad see ew and even duck over rice is super good. I was disappointed that their emperor noodles recipe changed and is no longer good. Regardless, it’s my go-to Thai restaurant for the last three decades. It’s always packed.
I know it is going to be good when there is fish sauce with peppers on the table! Loved this spot. The chicken wings were so crispy and delicious! The seafood soup had tons to seafood and flavor. It was so yummy and comforting when it was a little cold. Pad kee mao is my favorite dish an this version was very tasty...could have used a little more spice but it was very good. Love the noodles!
Sanamluang Thai Cuisine Restaurant, located in Claremont,California just off the I-10 freeway on Indian Hill Blvd., features the most delicious Thai cuisine in this area! The extensive menu features traditional Thai delites as well as fusion blends of Thai flavors and spices! They feature beef, chicken, fresh fish and vegetarian as well.Noodle, special fried rice dishes and an assortment of additional specialties of the house such as the deep fried whole fish and Thai sauce plate that is superb! The servers at Sanamluang are very courteous, friendly and offer suggestions if you so desire. Plenty of free parking, open late and they have to go orders available as well. . . . #sanamulangcuisine #thailand #thaifood #thaifriedrice #ilovethaifood
Excellent place for groups to come for Thai food. Came here on New Years Day and had a great experience here. My group ordered a lot of dishes and ate family style. We had the pad thai, pad see ew, green and yellow curry, tom ka, and shrimp salad. The food was delicious and service was good even though the restaurant was very busy.
Amazing food. Fast service. This place is usually crowded but worth the wait.
Underrated Thai restaurant with amazing noodle dishes. The pad see ew and boat noodles are always packed with flavor. I also love their Thai iced tea — strong and not too sweet. The place has a casual diner feel but very clean. Good for groups or solo dining. Easy street parking too.
This is a wonderful Thai restaurant to eat at. Staff is very cordial and willing to cater to taste. I think is the largest I have ever been in and great for big groups. I ordered sautéed Chinese broccoli with chicken and it was absolutely delicious. Please visit and enjoy a good and healthy meal.
This was our first time here. We came on a Friday night around 7p.m it was a 20 minute wait which wasn't bad for a Friday night. The service was good and the food was delicious. I got the spicy catfish and omg! It was so delicious I would go back just for that. We also got the Pud See Ewe that was good. The egg rolls are really delicious so were the fried pork ribs. My husband loved the pad thai and wonton soup. The pineapple fried rice was ok to me but my husband loved it. We will definitely come back for another great meal. Let's not for get the thai tea soooo good!
I've been eating here for decades and find it to be the best Thai restaurant anywhere. Whenever I travel through Ontario airport, I take a detour to stop in for a meal. Everything we've tried has been delicious and we have a handful of items we regularly order: pad Kee mao, pad woon sen, garlic and pepper pork, larb, pad prik king. Staff are super friendly and efficient and the decor is beautiful. The only downside is that they get extremely busy and the wait for a table can take an hour.
Very good Thai food and alot of it! Bring your appetite because the servings are large, enough left over for lunch the next day. Clean restaurant and excellent service! Seating is currently around 50% due to covid so plan to get there early or you can order takeout. I can't wait for my next visit here to try out more of their menu. Would definitely recommend for a night out or family outing.
My go to Thai restaurant. My family has been going here for 20 years ever since it used to be in Pomona before moving to Claremont. Our favorite dishes are the garlic pork spareribs, fried chicken wings, beef pad-see-ewe, and shrimp fried rice. It can get crowded for dinner on weekends with long wait times, but we can usually walk straight in for a table on a weekday night.
Whoa! I have spent way more for waaaaay less quality Thai food. When I say this place is delicious, it REEAALLLY is!!! I HIGHLY recommend the pad Thai and beef larb. I cannot wait to go back and try MORE stuff though! The service was quick, prices extremely reasonable, and very clean establishment.
It’s worth stopping here! Great tasting food right off the highway on Indian Hill Rd. If you aren’t sure what you want, don’t worry, the staff is great at recommending dishes based on your flavor/taste profile and how you are feeling at that moment. Food was good, portions were also good. Average price for a meal (8-12$ per dish). Quick seating and payment at the end. Lots of patrons from various Asian backgrounds so that’s a vote of confidence in proper Thai food.
My parents and I ate at Sanamluang this evening, and I can only highly recommend this place to anyone! For appetizers, we had Chicken Satay, Braised Short Ribs, and Thai Beef Jerky (which is *not* jerky in the traditional sense, obviously, and which is instead I guess closer to something like candied tri-tip, maybe, with some crispness and admitted toughness, but which is accompanied by a spicy chili-sauce). Then, we had Som Tam (which is a papaya salad served with chopped vegetables and little dried baby-shrimp). Along with that we had three main entrees: a) Emperor's Noodle (Thick, flat egg noodles with choice of protein (we agreed on chicken, shrimp, and squid), with a healthy covering of think gravy (I don't know exactly what it is, but it's savory, quite viscous, and the same kind they use on Rand Nah, if you're familiar with Thai food)); b) Roast Duck over Rice (which happens to come with a delicious black sauce chock full of *wonderfully* spicy (I wouldn't hazard to guess the scoville units, but I'd say it's probably midway between a Jalapeño and an Habañero) peppers); c) Panang Curry with Shrimp and Chicken (a coconut-based curry in which is slowly simmered your choice of protein, and accompanied by bite-sized red, green, and yellow peppers and green beans, which is best poured over rice). For dessert, we had Mango over Sticky Rice: A *perfectly* ripe and juicy third of a mango, pre-chopped and layered delicately next to a warm pile of sticky-rice, sweetened with sugar and drizzled with condensed milk before being sprinkled with pebble-sized bits of fried rice (it's like if Rice Krispies were somehow turned into fresh chicharrones). Pure heaven! For those interested in the cost, the total amount of the bill (including tax) was $142.84, and it was so much food that the three of us only got through about two-thirds of it (and one of the best things about Thai food is that it reheats *extremely* well (in fact, I find that if you order Cha-Po (which is a delectable combination of BBQ pork, BBQ duck, and fried pork-belly, served over rice and with two sauces - plum for the duck, and a soy-vinegar-chili concoction for the duck, both of which are utterly delectable), it actually tastes *better* the next day (protip: don't overcook it, or it will be dry; I'd recommend 45-second bursts; no more than a minute - the fat in that pork-belly crisps *quick,*, lol)))). Also, this includes one Thai iced tea (with boba) and three Thai iced coffees (without; I had two and my dad had one). The service was prompt, courteous, and attentive, and the time between ordering and food delivery was impressively small. Parking, however, is a challenge (not that it's any way the fault of the restaurant), because for some reason you can't park in the Western Optometry lot *even though it's obviously closed and which would *greatly* alleviate the situation*... nonetheless, I can attest that it's definitely worth the wait - plus, their take-out business is pretty brisk, so people are coming and going all the time. Chapter II: A Full Cost-Benefit Analysis of This Meal Considering the overall ramifications of these comestibles... you actually thought I was gonna do it for a second there, didn't you? Don't lie. Point-being, if you live within an hour of this place, you should eat here. I don't know what that is in Michelin-Star rating, but in meta.jpg-rating, it's freakin' awesome. 5/5 freakin' awesomes, if that kind of objective representation of ultimately subjective data guides your decision-making process. Thank you, and good night. P.S. I apologize for the disheveled quality of the photo; it has been cropped from a family picture one of the wait-staff (it wasn't even our server, they're all so nice) took, and doesn't reflect the superior plating by the kitchen XD
11/27/2024 = 5 Star =1st time to order the chicken thing , so good. 12/9/2023 = 5 Star = another spicy day. 5/20/2022 = 5 Star = its been a while didn't visit this place , order by phone for food to go , fast and easy . 6/20/20 = 4 star = It just take long to take order , but food are 5 star , will keep coming back .
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sanamluang, and I can confidently say that this particular location has exceeded my expectations! While I’m familiar with their other spots in the Valley and Thai Town, this visit was a delightful first. Sanamluang has always been known for their outstanding Thai cuisine, and this experience reaffirmed that reputation. The service was impeccable – attentive without being intrusive, which made for a truly enjoyable meal. I dined with friends and we decided to indulge by ordering a wide array of dishes. I’m pleased to report that every single one was a burst of flavor and satisfaction, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. The only dish that fell slightly short for me was the papaya salad. To be fair, I have a bit of a shrimp allergy, and while I usually don't have issues with tiny dried shrimp, I played it safe this time and requested that they exclude it. As a result, the salad lacked the depth of flavor I expected. Here’s a rundown of what we ordered: Papaya Salad: Good but could have used a bit more spice and shrimp (this one’s on me). Green Chicken Curry: Creamy, perfectly balanced, and delicious without being overly spicy. Drunken Noodles: A satisfying and flavorful dish that hit all the right notes. Pork Larb: A fresh and zesty delight that I couldn't get enough of. Crispy Fried Pork Belly with bell peppers (Pad kra prao): Utterly irresistible, with a perfect crunch! Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Sanamluang. It has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the Inland Empire, and I can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu. Whether you're a long-time fan of Thai food or just looking for a great place to eat, this restaurant should be at the top of your list!
Sanamluang has a great atmosphere for a nice dinner. It's well designed inside and has the ability to accommodate groups. The servers are very friendly and proactive. The food is well prepared and tasty. I was a bit surprised though how small the chicken wings are in their appetizer, but they give you a lot. Their Pad Thai is pretty tasty and the combination fried rice is an all time favorite.
We savored a dinner of Chapo, Pra Salid fried rice – our standout favorite for its generous portion and spicy kick – along with cripsy Garlic Pork Spare Ribs and a refreshing Seafood Salad. Ample enough for three, the dishes were not only delicious but also reasonably priced. The ambiance of the place added to our enjoyment. Would like to explore more of their enticing menu offerings next time.
Very good Thai food, and a wide variety of dishes not seen at most other Thai restaurants. The deep fried spare rib appetizer is super good! Pad see ewe was great as were the other dishes we ordered. This was a very nice dining experience and I will definitely go again. Also, I would recommend this place for anyone who likes Thai food, it's pretty great!
Great food and service! From salads, noodles and entrees to desert, there's a Thai dish to satisfy any appetite. Late night dining after a visit to the Pomona Fairplex, only 6 minutes away, a must if you are craving authentic Thai food. Parking is moderate, there is a short wait when busy, but it's worth it. Try more than one item and share family style, the best way to sample each dish. Casual dining Asian style!
Let me start my saying I LOVE meat! I’m definitely a carnivore buuut my best friend is Vegetarian 🌱. So when I go to eat with her I eat Vegetarian as well and let me tell you . . . This has been my favorite vegetarian experience yet! (This isn’t a vegetarian restaurant but they have vegetarian options) We started with fried tofu as an appetizer and then had this incredible Green Papaya Salad (med🌶)! I hate papaya but this salad! My gosh! It was tangy and crunchy and spicy and refreshing! All the flavors that make Thai food SO incredible! After our starters we had a vegetarian fried rice and the vegetarian style Pad Kee Mow (med 🌶)! Overall their service was just as incredible as the food! I forgot to ask for our servers name buuut man was he awesome! We told him we were vegetarian and he took that information and ran with it!!! He made sure to make all our dishes vegetarian and gave us the best recommendations! Below are pictures of all the tasty food we ate!
They've nailed the Bangkok restaurant to a tee. Everything from the dinnerware, the portions, the flavors and the service is basically like the affordable sit down restaurants you can find near colleges in Bangkok. The value you get for the price is unreal, too. You can feed a family for about $10 if you really want to. This is a definite must go if you want to try an authentic Thai experience. Definitely coming back and eating myself into a food coma again!
It’s a renowned Thai restaurant in Claremont. The overall environment is soothing. It’s a clean and spacious restaurant. You will get the classiness and culture of Thailand on the walls, on the furniture, and most especially in the food. The food is tasty and lip smacking. We really enjoyed everything that we ordered. The service was appreciable and the server tried her best to serve food as soon as possible. Overall, we have had a great time. The price was also reasonable. However, this restaurant is crowded during lunch hour – so, you may have to wait (we waited around 25 minutes to get our call). It’s a highly recommended restaurant for Thai food lovers.
It's really the best restaurant where everything is perfect. Price, restaurant atmosphere, food taste, service, etc. But There's no place to park on weekends. Waiting for about 15 minutes is the norm. I think it's the best Thai food restaurant in the area within a 10 miles. This is final boss. One thing to be careful of is that you shouldn't park right next to the shopping mall. Fortunately, there's a man who manages the parking, so I was able to avoid towing. The recommended menu is garlic pork spare rib. It's pork, but it feels similar to korean chicken, and it's really delicious.
Food is so good. Was craving Thai and this is the spot to go! ***FYI: parking is limited in the designated lot. Please don’t park in the other side near the dentist area, your car will get towed**** We got Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow, and Red Curry. I got medium spicy for the PAD KEE MOW, I loved it!!! Flavor is so balanced with the heat of the spice. I think next time I’ll get a level spicier than medium. Pad Thai was also very good! The fresh bean spouts and the lime wedge really gives it flavor. The Red Curry was also good but not as spicy as I would have liked. The ambiance was very well lit during dinner time. The place feels very clean and modern. Service was good too. They would check up to see if you’re doing ok and refill water without asking. I would come here again!
Sanamluang Cafe is the one restaurant I'll always love coming back to. I've always made it a point to visit this charming restaurant every time I'm in the area, and even after many years, the quality of the food and service has always stayed top tier. My personal favourite and go-to is the Beef Tendon & Stew Soup. The soup consists of a harmonious blend of flavours and textures. The Pad Thai, Pork Spareribs, Roast Duck, and Tom-Kha-Kai are delicious must-tries as well. The chefs put in effort to make the dishes visually appealing, while appealing to the tastebuds. Additional noteworthy features are that regardless of how busy the restaurant is, the servers and staff are always polite, cordial, and attentive to their customers. I also appreciate the fact that the restaurant uses real Thai Tea and real fruits for their slushies. I hold Sanamluang Cafe to the highest regard, and I absolutely look forward to returning here upon my next visit in town.
Update 10/2025: this is our go to Thai place and loved pretty much all the dishes wr tried, except what I had today. The combo bbq plate was disappointing. While the chasao was decent, but the crispy pork was impossible to chew and the duck was represented by 2-3 very thin and very skinny pieces. We still love this place, but won’t be ordering its bbq dishes anytime soon. Update: after dinning at other local Thai places, we kept coming back to this place. The ingredients are always fresh and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Today, I tried its fried rice with pork. It was one of the better Thai fried rices anywhere. It wasn’t overly greasy or heavily flavored. This is our favorite Thai restaurant. If you like traditional Thai food, then this is the place as you won’t find “fusion” dishes. Thus it is also one of the few Thai places in this area that serves both Northern and southern Thai cuisines. So it’s a rare find. The pork leg over rice is what I had today and it’s a Northern (very similar to Chinese food in that region). It was very well cooked and tasty. The Indian Curry Noodles were very good as well with coconut curry (not sure why it’s called Indian curry). The service was friendly and fast. The prices were more than reasonable as the owner has done a great job keeping the prices to the pre-inflation level. Highly recommended.
Papaya salad had too much lime, so we couldn't finish it while we were there. Other than that, everything was delicious. We got green curry as our main and the sanamluang noodles to try. Green curry is my favorite but, wow, the noodles has me changing my mind. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. It also was enough to serve two. Service was quick and workers were always coming by to check if we had our food and if we needed water.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant (a different location then this one) for years and years and they’re are always good. Service was good even though it was busy during lunch. My family and I always get our own entree and share a soup or two so we always get lots of good food! Thim our server was very helpful and sweet!
It is my FAVORITE Thai restaurant!!! It has delicious and flavorful food!! I ALWAYS take my friends and family to this place! And everyone that I've recommended it to, has made it one of their preferred restaurants to go for Thai food. It has a great atmosphere, friendly service, they are ALWAYS busy! So plan ahead. They close at 10pm on the weekends. Great for first dates! Definitely nice!! it's much better than casual but not luxurious. Perfect place to impress because of the great food and comfortably enjoy a good time to get to know someone. Competitive prices and to me? Most of the plates (if not all) are meant to be shared. So try to start with only one plate/ soup, rice and maybe an appetizer. I have yet to try a plate that I don't like... Every time I've gone has been an awesome experience.
My team came to Sanamluang for a work lunch, and we were very satisfied! Our food came out quickly and was delicious. I would recommend the Koo Chai. My friend said that her pad kra paw was the best she has eaten in a restaurant, and the pad see ew was also tasty without being overly greasy or heavy.
First time I came here today delicious food traditional Thai cuisine from old Thailand. You cannot find this kind of food in any restaurant. The variety is amazing and the food is fresh and delicious.
Food is goood. I try the pad see ew. Food is chepa which us around 15-20$ excellent service. Been here before. Maybe my favorite thai restaurant.

Great tasting food, generous portions, and very reasonable prices. Looking forward to my next visit!
One of the best thai food in SoCal. I always drop by here on my way back from Vegas. Clean and friendly. Food is delicious, portion size is generous, price is reasonable. Easy parking.
Visited this place 3 times before writing this review. Each visit the food was wonderful! However, I received different levels of customer service each visit. Ranging from Top Quality service to down right rude. Very happy the good was good each time. Highly recommend Thai jerky, and the CHAPO. Area can get a little sketchy during certain times of the week and time of day. Parking can be tight as well when it's busy.
Sanamluang is a very good Thai restaurant to have lunch or dinner. I usually come to this restaurant when I am nearby. The food is VERY good and the service is good. Please note that on weekends wait can be 1 - 2 hours long. Service can be poor but the food is always very good. I recommend this Thai restaurant if you love Thai food. 😁👍
It was so very busy this weekend. But we were still able to get our delicuous food fairly quick. Celebrated losing our last baby to adulthood. No more kids. It was very noisy so be prepared to bring noise cancelling devices if that's a problem for you. I reduced my one star because the men's bathroom had a failed urinal. If you are looking for a quiet, cozy and romantic dining. This isn't it. It's a place to get probably the best thai food around.
Taste :4.3/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:4.2/5 Apopular and spacious restaurant that serves authentic and delicious Thai food. I visited this place on a Saturday night with my family, and we were impressed by the variety and quality of the dishes. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively and cozy. Recommend 💛Chicken sate 💛 pad see you
Good Thai food restaurant with nice ambience and good seating arrangements. Papaya Salad: 5/5 delicious Cashew Nut Chicken: 4/5 Pud- See- Ewe: 3/5 Tom-Kha-Kai: 2/5 was a little too sour Emperor’s Noodle: 4/5 Salted Fish Fried Rice: 3/5 Price is reasonable. Ambience good, wasn’t packed when we arrived at 6:15pm on Thursday Service was excellent. They paid attention to our table and made sure we had all that we needed to accommodate 3 children under 12.
We got here at 7:30pm, and there was a line (this place is popular). Waited for 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered egg rolls, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice. The egg rolls was so crispy, and it came with sweet chili sauce, which was a perfect match. The pad Thai was a little disappointment as it has a lack of taste. I wish that the taste was a little stronger. Pineapple fried rice was my favorite! It was very flavorful. However, it was not served in a pineapple container. Server was very friendly. Will come back and try out more food!
On my way home, this place was right off the freeway, so super easy to access. The inside was quite nice; I can only imagine of dining in. They were quite busy; one of the ladies quickly asked if I was there to pick up or ordering. I put in an order, she took, name, number, and order; gave me an ETA and informed me that a text would be sent once the food was ready. I had time to run an errand and come back. Food was warm and ready to go; I got the Pad Thai; good portion and thought it was pretty good.
The service was very fast and good. My glass never reached half empty... the Thai hot is seriously not hot enough, but it was really good. The fried rice is good. The chicken was white meat and tender. They have a $10 minimum charge for credit card transactions. Most meals are around $8-9.
This restaurant has a unique menu with Thai dishes you don’t see in most Thai restaurants. They offer vegan/vegetarian options. For the price you pay the dish is huge. I would not eat their pad thai because it is very sweet and made with ketchup. Other dishes were well done. Service is fast and top notch. It can be quickly crowded during weekends but the wait is reasonable. Be careful with the parking.
Possibly the best Thai restaurant in Southern California. Don’t get the perception that Thai foods are all spicy. They are not. In fact, most of their entrees and menu items are not spicy at all. If so, they have the option to make them not spicy upon request. So enjoy your meals if you have a more sensitive stomach like mine. Food was really tasty but a bit on the salty side. If you have sodium/dietary issues, let them know next time you’re there to not add any salt or reduce salt. Otherwise I don’t need to say any more about the food. They just taste great. This place is always busy so service tends to slow down a bit due to that. It’s like this 7 days a week. Just too popular and hot spot of a place. Workers aren’t slow or anything, just too much to do. I recommended the restaurant hire more help. Way more help. They can afford to do so with the consistent large streams of customers going there 7-days a week. It’s a clean restaurant and well lit. I like the ambience. If it wasn’t so out of my way, I’d be there every week. Pricing is average for the types of food they serve. It isn’t a fast food restaurant after all so expect to pay a little bit more.
My family is a huge fan of Thai food, so when my mom told me about this place, we had to try it. It didn't disappoint. Dishes are on par with those found at most Thai restaurants. We ordered all dishes with a spice level of medium, but would have liked a bit more heat. Luckily, each table contains three types of chilies to select from. A sprinkle of some of that red dried crushed Chile added the heat that was missing. All food was good, but not very hot. This could have been due to the overall temperature in the restaurant, which was cold enough for me to go get my jacket out from my car. Staff was friendly and attentive. Prices are great!
I've been to a few Thai restaurants. This is the first time we’ve visited this establishment. I believe the structure has changed a few times I remember it being a Carrow restaurant. Sanamluang Interior is put together well it has plenty of booths and tables to sit down and enjoy your meal. we ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. The Pad Thai took a little bit too to long reach us, but it was delicious. this place can get crowded and there’s usually a little wait to be seated. It's worth the wait. We’ll be visiting again.
Definitely a modernized facility. Looks spacious and parking area was large but very packed. The restaurant was extremely busy. We had a party of approximately 20 people. We called a few days ahead and were told they will try their best to accommodate. When we arrived, it was extremely crowded. Even with 20 people they seated us within an hour. Kudos to that! However, the service after that was rather spotty. We ordered several dishes for both tables that split us in. Many of the dishes either didn't come out or came out an hour after we finished the few that did come out earlier. We also had to flag down a few service professionals to remind them about our drinks and dishes. Enough about the service, since we will just blame it on that staff was short. The food was extremely delicious. Portions were okay but not as large as other Thai restaurants. My fave dishes would be the fried catfish. Great spice and well balanced sweet, spicy and savory! Perfect with rice! The papaya salad was definitely fresh with a great kick and umami flavor. The salted fried fish rice was phenomenal! I loved the perfect balance of salty and savory. That fish crunch was awesome! The soups were a bit to vinegary or salty. All the other dishes were yummy too. Loved that the noodles were not over cooked and great flavors. Would definitely suggest to be prepared for a long wait. We were informed that if our party was smaller and we came at a less busy time, the service would be better and the food would come out timely.
We visited on a Saturday evening and experienced a 30-minute wait, which wasn’t too bad considering how many people were waiting in the lobby. The menu is pretty extensive, featuring a variety of classic Thai dishes. We ordered the Boat Noodles, Pad Thai, Red Curry with rice, Tom Yum, and Combination Fried Rice. The food was flavorful, and I appreciated the three different types of chili available at the table for customizing spice levels. The service was decent, though nothing exceptional. A heads-up about parking: avoid the adjacent lot near the dentist’s office, as there’s a security guard on-site enforcing towing rules (even during dentist's off-hours). Overall, it’s a solid spot for Thai food with a great selection of dishes.
so affordable and yummy! and the restaurant is huge so there's always seating available, and if there is a wait is not long! Portions are amazing for the price! Highly recommend.

One of the best Thai restaurants in my neighborhood. Expect this place to be very busy all the time. There is a pretty large waiting area in the front but some wait outside. Parking can get tig…
W Thai eats. Great portions and great prices. Didn't take photos but the chicken wings are fire. Dinner for 12 was only like 200 bucks. Genuinely mind blown.
I ordered the Tom ka Kai soup with the chicken on the side (I have always felt that the cooked chicken should be added tableside because they use pre cooked chicken breast. It dries out very easily…
No attentive server what so ever, he looks very busy and a lot of tables to handles. No even once to check back after serving the food. Taste overall all good.

in the area for work meeting ordered yellow curry, chicken satae, spicy catfish, broccoli broccoli the curry was very tasty and generous portions the chicken satay was very tasty with peanut sauce spicy catfish was very tasty the restaurant was very noisy the service was average, we had to wait for our waiter to come to the table, the food was brought to the table one dish at a time and long wait between each disthe prices were average to higher than average a little pricey for the value not a place I would seek out after my experience
Busy restaurant. For the first 25-30 mins no server took our order. Took another 35-40 mins for the order to coming in. Although the food wasn’t bad, I’m not sure if it’s worth one hour waiting. Towards the end, the server was just gave our bill instead of asking whether we need something else or not. Service was “ Meh” .
Here is my humble and honest review on this gem, and yes although I gave it a fair three stars it doesn’t mean I don’t see its value, because I do! But here are my issues with this place. One the cutlery, the cups and the plates are appalling. The clear cups have this water residue on them making them look disgusting and dirty, the water isn’t even filtered it’s straight up tap water, can we get with filtering out water? There’s serious health issues with tap water…the cutlery is dirty like all the time because they’re so busy they don’t inspect it sadly so if possible ask for plastic utencils I promise I’m not making it up,to give you perspective we did see across out table another couple cleaning their table ware with napkins because theirs was dirty as well. Lastly their plates almost every plate is broken from a corner or chipped…it’s pretty bad, thus the minus one star. Now if you thought I was done on the cleanliness portion, I’m sorry to say that it’s not. The table we were sat on smelled like a dirty rag was used to clean it and to finish it there was fresh black hair stuck to the table from whatever they used to clean it. I think it’s fair to say that cleanliness says a lot about how a kitchen where food is being cooked is going to look, and to be totally honest my trust is not in it, but I was feeling “adventurous” so what the heck, lol. Okay now on to their food, I’ve had their spicy beef salad (amazing), they use a fire cooked short beef rib meat that is just amazing, it’s actually char most of the time and it’s big and hearty and oh so savory! The chicken fried rice is a joke when speaking of the chicken, the chicken has freezer burns and is dryer than sand! It’s awful, but the rice it’s self is subtle and savory we love it so we decided to opt the meat and just get it with egg, we also don’t like it soggy so we do no tomatoes or onions and stick with just green onion. It’s great! We love it! Their won ton soup is also yummy nothing I can really say other than they have two sizes and so it’s perfect! They have extremely savory crispy pork short ribs that just make you want more because their so tiny and delicious but it’s an appetizer so it’s expected but still so savory and delicious! Oh don’t let me forget about their pad see yew (might have spelled that wrong oops!) it’s amazing! They actually kill this dish because it has authentic Chinese broccoli which I really appreciate it’s amazing as well! Their service is okay, the waiters always seems nice definitely overwhelmed but nice over all, on both occasions I’ve asked for to go cups for our drinks because of what I had mentioned and both times they forgot to bring it so not to on point with the service but def on the accuracy of food, spot on so yay I guess. Bathrooms are not so great, not kept up with as one would hope but what can you expect, cleanliness isn’t to great a priority it seems so no I won’t use their restrooms….minus one star. Pricing is moderately fair for portion so no problem here. Last why I took another star off, waiting is ridiculous! And parking is a night mare. So yeah, that’s pretty much what my experience has been and although the food is enjoyable, because it is. I now bring my water canine with me and ask for plastic utencils so yes you’ll enjoy the food but caution it’s at your own risk, lol. Jk, if you’re a clean freak or have great attention to detail it might feel like a tough pill to swallow but I encourage you to try the food anyway. It’s surprisingly pretty great!
It’s clean, prices are fair and service is average. Any dish with chicken will be a disappointment as their chicken is very dry. The spice and flavor is missing. The bbq fried rice again pork lacking flavor and too much oil on rice. In a pinch it’s ok but there are other places that service more authentic food.
I am not sure why this place is so popular. Basically both service and food here was very average. Two noodle dishes were so so (sanamluang noodles and yen ta fo) without much distinctive taste. Fried fish served was so small and so darn salty I was surprised they charged so much for it. Only chicken rice and pork leg over rice were ok. Perhaps there are not much competition for Thai food in Claremont as our experience here was very average.
I feel bad for reviewing this place... We were invited by an LA local family to dine at what they called the best Thai restaurant in town, so I came with inflated expectation, perhaps. Firstly, the restaurant suffered from insufficient parking spaces for the number of tables they have, resulting in lengthy wait to get parked. The high ceiling made our table scene quite noisy, as the voices of all diners around us were amplified. The restaurant was super full during our visit, and servers struggled to serve our table and kept our water filled. I saw other reviewers suggesting the chicken wings appetizer, but it was disappointing TBH. The wings were small, and at times even cut in half, so they looked plenty, but in reality they're difficult to eat without me having to navigate through broken and brittle bones. The Tom Yam soup came with flame inside the chimney, which was a nice touch, but the soup itself contained more sliced mushrooms than actual seafood. The Pad See Ew was subpar, with singular flavour of soy sauce coating the noodles. The Penang curry was okay flavour wise, but there was remarkably more sliced peppers than beef chunks. The papaya salad, however, was amazing, reminding me of the time I ate something similar on one of many floating market in Bangkok. Too bad the one dish we all loved did not do enough to balm the dinner. Maybe the restaurant used to serve the best Thai cuisine in town, but if so, then it has fallen from grace ever since. I sincerely hope that the restaurant would recover somehow to justify its reputation.
How do I begin? If I had to describe my experience with the food in a single word, I would use the word “disappointing”. The salted fish fried rice was bland. The tom yum soup couldn’t really be called the soup, it was more of a salty, sour water. There was barely any seafood in it either, disappointingly. The beef salad was not only bland, but the pieces of beef were small, chewy, and not that many of them. The papaya salad was, mid so to speak. The biggest disappointment was the pad see ew to be honest. The noodles were all broken into bits, it was cold in some spots, and warm in others. The meat was dry, chewy, and didn’t taste like beef at all, oddly enough. Not only that, but the chinese broccoli in the dish was undercooked, and the dish in all it’s entirety tasted bland, and faintly burnt. The only foods that were actually good were the pad thai and the chicken wings. It’s a shame that the restaurant has gotten to this point, before quarantine my family used to enjoy coming here, but we will not be coming again.
I almost never leave a low-star review, but today’s experience made it unavoidable. We visited around 1 PM, saw the place was busy, and thought that was a good sign, especially since we hadn’t been back in about ten years. We ordered fish cake appetizers, pad see ew with beef, and their “general noodles” with barbecue pork and duck. Unfortunately, the pad see ew actually arrived with pork instead of beef, and the entire meal was a letdown. The Thai coffee was too sweet, the fish cake was bland and oily, and the general noodles were soggy and flavorless. The barbecue meats were tough and just not enjoyable. For a $54 meal before tip, this level of quality just isn’t acceptable. It’s disappointing to see a place that once had charm drop the ball like this. Nobody deserves that kind of performance or food quality, especially for the cost.
Went for lunch with my wife as I was craving their stewed pork hock over rice. We only ordered 5 dishes, which are the pineapple fried rice, stewed pork hock, Chinese broccoli with crispy pork, pad thai, and tom-yum goong soup. Soup came first, followed by my stewed pork hock. The rest of the orders came after 20 minutes. We came here to eat together, not to watch one person eat while the other person waits for her food to arrive. I had to ask the server twice where are the rest of our order? By the time the rest of the foods came, my food was already cold. Worst of it is that the foods that we were waiting for came to our table cold as well. The crispy pork is also not crispy. The couple sitting next to us actually left because their orders were taking so long. We’ve been eating at Sanamluang since the mid 1990’s at their old location. This was my worst experience from them yet. Just disappointing. I hope they figure out how to fix their kitchen situation, food quality, and get the food out in a timely manner.
This used to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Been eating at this restaurant close to 40 years before moving out of California. Came back today and was disappointed. We ordered 8 dishes. None of them authentic. Prices are better than other restaurants but I wouldn’t come back. Services are good.
The thing that can ruin something truly amazing (people) was at it again. I drove by on a Friday evening and saw no line. "My lucky night," I thought. I've been here many times and always had to wait…
Despite the long lines and wait times that suggest this is still a top spot, our recent visit showed a clear decline from what it used to be. We arrived early for dinner to avoid crowds and were se…
What a pity for a very beautiful restaurant like this but food is under average. We ordered : beef salad, chicken sate, pad Thai which are very popular dishes in any Thai restaurant to try. We tried before but it was only to-go order due to pandemic, it was so so at that time with fried rice and pad Thai. Today we wanted to try one time dine in. So disappointed, the beef salad was a disaster, beef was super chewy as if it is beef jerky. We gave up the beef, told the waitress when she came around to ask every table if everything was ok. We let her know beef was too hard and chewy, all she asked is if we want to order another dish, did not show much concern or any apology. The chicken sate: sauce is very good but chicken is hard and dry like wood flank as well. Not sure what wrong with the Chef here. Pad Thai is the last one we could eat, it is not excellent or good just average but at least it was chewable. I do not know who is the owner of this restaurant, I wonder if they have tried every single dish of their menu to make sure the Chef is doing their job? Maybe you are lucky because only 2 Thai restaurants in Claremont area that is why you have clients but for long run how will you gain and keep customers to have run your business? You have a beautiful restaurant so hope you keep eyes on food quality
Horrible bland food with very small portions. I ordered a pad Thai noodle with a yellow curry and panang curry but they got my order wrong. When I got home and gave them a call they brushed me off. I would strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere.
This was one of the worst Thai restaurants, fast food restaurant whatever you wanna call it that I’ve ever visited. The food has lacking quality taste flavor. What makes it worse is they made us wait over an hour from the time we ordered and by the time we got our food this was absolutely one of the worst dining experiences.
