Good food - typical university life style feel and atmosphere...👍
Love the choices for the students and our food quality was really good.
Wide variety of food choices! Although some things better than others.
Lots of choices. Can be busy during meal times. Healthy options at a realistic cost.
There's a good reason this place is said to be the best college dining hall in the US.
BEST COLLEGE CAFETERIA EVER. The rot has my heart forever and always ♥️♥️♥️
Food was divinely delicious and the drinks were tempting and thirst quenching.
Good food. But GREAT SMASH'D BURGERS in the evenings.
A very very good all-you-can-eat facility on the campus of Liberty University
Great Food. Plenty of Selection. Pleasant Atmosphere!
What a great experience. Although the lines were long, they moved very fast.
Really good if you have no taste buds
An amazing experience. All..you.. Can.. Eat. And the food is all good.
Delicious, healthy food, great variety, and welcoming service!
The best college cafeteria that I have ever been to.
Very good prices and a wide variety of options for people with food allergies.
Probably the best cafeteria I've been to. Great selection and there's something for everyone. Lots of healthy options.
There are so many good food stations. It's very clean. The staff is attentive and so friendly. Good job Liberty U.
Very good for a university dining hall. A lot of variety and quick service. Tasty food and handle allergies very well.
Extremely friendly and caring employees and like always, great food; just wish the ice cream machine was available more instead of off random days
Great food. Good selection. I'm having to watch what I eat and they have a good selection to choose from. Just eat to much.
This place was rated #1 in the country for the past 2 years. Lots of space and you can get as much or as little food as you want once you're inside.
Vast food choices, all prepared amazingly well. One of the best dining halls i have ever been in.
There food is pretty good. My son is now going here and raves about how excellent the food is
Very good food, great variety. Looking forward to our son attending Liberty this fall.
If you can’t find something to eat here, you are far too picky!! So many options and choices with lots of seating!!
Best dining facility every! I wish it had been this good when I was a student. You have to see it to believe it.
One of the best dining centers that I have eaten at! Great food and great fellowship! Lots of great options!
Ridiculously good food with pretty solid service. Lines were surprisingly short or nonexistent, even on CFAW weekend.
Enjoyful place to eat for students the staft gives great service to every individual just a special staff
They have a variety of food selection you have for $10.00 is worth my money. I recommend experiencing the atmosphere and the food.
This college cafeteria is amazing! Definitely changed since the 80, s. So much to choose from!
Liberty University's dining hall has excellent food and the servers were friendly.
The Reber-Thomas dining hall, affectionately called "The Rot" ,is a place I look forward to returning to whenever I have the opportunity to visit the campus of Liberty University. Well we're there for the Winterfest 2018 and had the opportunity to have several meals there. It is spacious and well la yes out. The food is superb, better than a number of restaurants I have been to. They were ranked #1 in the country two of the last three years. Special events usually have a limited staff and limited offerings compared to when school is in session, but everyone can usually find something satisfactory, even those with dietary restrictions. No visit to Lynchburg is quite complete unless I can have a meal there. I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit there. Be forewarned, throwing bananas on the roof of the dining hall is frowned upon by the Liberty University Police Department.
I mean, it's a college cafeteria, so obviously no one's expecting the quality of a Cheesecake Factory. But the food's fresh, we now get Coke, and there's enough variety for even the pickiest of eaters. #goflames
Best place to eat in Lynchburg. Going on a fancy date? Need to feed the family? Got to catch food quickly before you get to your underwater basket weaving class? Go to the reber-Thomas dining hall and enjoy top class gourmet cuisine.
Good selection, good service, and friendly atmosphere for a cafeteria. A new dining hall is being built and hopefully will combine quality food with a comfortable seating amenities.
I love this place! There is so much food to choose from, and everyone is very friendly. Loads of dessert and healthy food coffees and ice creams, I recommend this all day long.
All varieties of food for all tastes. Great atmosphere with worship music in the background. Kind and friendly staff always courteous to your requests. Love it!
Great college campus cafeteria with multiple stations that cooks foods from around the world from smokehouse to Mongolian. Also they have a allergy friendly section that keeps separation with regular food area (can't take non allergy friendly food in there).
I love it here! There are so many dining options and selections. You may hit a few dingers, but the ratio of good to bad favors the good by a large stretch.
Food is usually good with a lot of options, especially during peak meal times. The employees are generally very nice and good at their jobs. The enivronment is bright and modern feeling with lots of booths, tables, windows, and even outdoor seating. The pricing is very fair. Only thing bad is sometimes the dishes are not completely clean, and late at night there are not many food options here.
Amazing selection of foods. Friendly staff. Food was pretty good for a college dining hall. MUCH better than what I had at college. I am glad my son will be eating there while at school. The staff serving the food and doing clean-up are quite friendly. Much more so than at other cafeterias I have eaten at.
If you get the chance to visit Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, this is THE PLACE to eat! Value is great! Many types of food from different countries offered in their huge buffet. Everyone was very Nice & helpful!
This has been some of THE BEST college cafeteria/ dinning hall food that I have every had. If I was a student and could afford to.....I would eat there every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! If the kids are NOT eating there by choice or are very picky, then they are missing out!
Visiting with my son for a campus tour. We were given free food vouchers. Wow, the food is very good with so many options you don't have to worry about your child not eating while at school.
The food was delicious & prepared to suit your individual taste buds. The staff and students are conscientious, helpful, and driven to provide quality food and an open fellowship atmosphere. They are also spiritually open to serve the Lord (and you too).
Liberty University in Lychburg VA is "The Best University in The World". Reber- Thomas Dining is " The Best Cafeteria in The World". I loved Cafeteria, "Reber- Thomas Dining", Wow is Amazing, Delicious and Healthy food. Every employees is sweet, lovely, humble and friendly. Thank you Liberty University! 5 🌟
Love the food, better than your average cafeteria. The Mongolian grill line is usually long, but it's good. Make sure you're specific with what you want, because if you don't mention you want either chicken or fish, you probably won't get any haha.
Sometimes they run out of food and seats but otherwise it's a great experience.
Cashier was very friendly, big smile. The food was good there was plenty.
rot lyfe can be good but also sodexo please learn how to wrap a burrito amirite people
Heck of a selection for a campus. Food was pretty decent.
Tasty and lots to choose from during normal hours of operation. Gets really busy
You.Have.To.Try.The.Scrambled.Eggs. They are the best. Rest of the food is decent too, especially when the parents come. All you can eat buffet, essentially.
This is a self serve cafeteria style dining area at Liberty University. Huge selection of food including an allergen free dining area.
While the food is above average for a college cafeteria, the workers are horrendously rude, and do not care about the customer. Though, I get this is a college cafeteria and I suppose that’s to be expected, so 4 stars. Also, clean bathrooms
Here for a week intensive class staying on campus. 14 meals are included and so far tge foods been good, service is excellent.
Food Quality is Consistent with what you would expect a college cafeteria. Prices are excellent for staff and faculty at Liberty!
Great atmosphere and music, food is very diverse and delicious. Sometimes it can be hard to find something simple though
Great place, but has long lines! The food is amazing and they have come up with a great system.
Main Dining Hall for Liberty University. Food is very good, but as a student I ate here so much that I got tired of it.
Great for students. I would recommend Smash Burger and Sparkey's Cantina. It is rather overpriced for others though.
Reber-Thomas gives you a variety of food to choose from. It is mainly a place for LU students but everyone is welcomed there.
Our family of 5 had late lunch during Freshmen move in day. Only a few serving areas were open, but we still enjoyed the food we received and at a fair price. Therefore, I give 4 stars.
Visited as a guest. Less than 12 bucks for dinner. Incredible food selection and average/acceptable quality. Park in the garage nearby for free after 4pm. Was able to spread out and do some work while I was here. Active atmosphere. Would return again if very hungry.
First off, like many other posts remember this is a college campus dining hall. Quality is not going to be their first priority, it’s feeding the 5-8K people a day, multiple times. If you go during the right time, it’s got a ton of choices. (Meh time is 3-5pm range) Not all of the choices are horrendous, but there are some you steer clear from. If something just doesn’t look fabulous, you don’t have to eat it and you can move on to a different selection. And while yes the staff could be a liiiiiittle less grumpy while they smash the plate with eggs every morning, I do understand Liberty students can be uptight sometimes. Lastly is the price, students swipe right in, though tuition isn’t cheap ;). If you are a parent or visitor it’s gonna cost $13 to get in. But think in an average meal, you can get 2 plates full, a drink(refilled!), and coffee and more. This you can do all that 70x7 times :D
This main dining hall based off of Liberty University camouflage Located in the heart of the college campus. The hours are 6am to 11pm at night which for a college campus dining hall the hours there self are nothing less than great! Pay options are Liberty University cash (Flame Bucks), Cash, and Card. Great eating options from pizza to grill, breakfast, MTO, Spicy, and even sushi options.
Huge food choice including vegetarian along with a separate hallway and serving center for folks with food allergies. The place is all you can eat. Only one staff member at the omlet bar was rude and condensending. She was reported.
Food is almost always excellent. Can get repetitive, but far less so than most restaurants would be if they were visited for every meal. Service is someone grumpy or slow, which I find to be the reason there aren't five stars
Visited Liberty University for a campus tour. Best college or university dining facility I've been in. Top notch selection and quality. Would have earned that fifth star if they hadnt been out of straws.
A good selection of options. However, there needs to be a section of cut up fruits available at all times. There should also be a change of breakfast options everyday.
Not bad for college cafeteria food. The chicken is sour sometimes, though. But the gluten free muffins are amazing
Good food, not high quality but there are a lot of options and the majority of the food is good. Good dessert selection usually. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff.
Was a student at the University for two semesters. Food at the dining hall (or The Rot as we students call it) is really good for a dining hall. Some meals are hit or miss, but the majority of foods are consistently good quality. In a year of eating there every day, I have never come across something that I would normally like, but didn't. It's not your mama's home cooking, but it's good enough, and I didn't feel at any time like I was tired of it. Also, the dessert and pastries I'm sure are made by a retired angel who used to bake for God in heaven. 4.5 stars, if you're a student, PLEASE for Pete's sake take advantage of the resource that this place is.
I ate here a lot when I was a student at Liberty. The food was pretty good for a college cafeteria. While the pizza was nothing to get exited about (still better than Dominos) the main dish was always good and the new Mongolian bbq was really good.
Food-court layout with foods ranging from Chinese to sushi to pizza to mashed potatoes with gravy. It's not bad for a college campus, pretty good service, decent food, fantastic variety, but definitely not perfect. Occasionally get meat that is so dry I can hardly bite it, but sometimes the meat so juicy it's falling off the bone so it's really hit or miss. Also they sometimes suck at wraping burritos.
Food selection was pretty lame. I hear they are having shortages so maybe that's why..
Revert Thomas or "the Rot" has a great selection of different cuisine and deserts. The only problem is the quality of foods used is questionable and the preparation of meets very amature.
Foods good, when you can fight the crowd and get to it. I've received my omelette undercooked several times now, and the staff are usually very rude.
Affectionately called "The ROT" for a reason. Starts out good; then it's okay...and then it'll turn on you. It's my go-to campus spot for something light and relatively healthy (salad bar fare), but a lot of the prepared foods are overcooked, overseasoned, and heavy. They do tilapia pretty well.
Security is terrible... I snuck in without them knowing. Would be five stars, but the food is nasty. The area was quiet enough but quickly ruined by the screech of the cleaning lady. Also pube hairs...
Lots of options with some really good food. The only negative that I have, which is a pretty big one, is nearly all of the staff are very unfriendly and most act as though they have a huge chip on their shoulder.
The food is okay… sometimes it’s great, and other times the meat is raw and everything is soaked in gross oil. There aren’t many places to charge your laptop or phone. It is an okay place to meet friends though. Wouldn’t recommend, but it’s available for college kids who need food.
Food is mediocre, occasionally you'll find something great or something below average. Quality aside, there's plenty of options, though they're not always open. Operating at half capacity for Covid, which may make it difficult to find a table. Staff are friendly, building is clean. Some but not all food options, vegan is available but not orthodox religious diets (kosher, halal, etc). You can obviously avoid those foods, but if you require something approved by a rabbi, I recommend finding somewhere else.
they’re suddenly the best dining hall during CFAW for people who pay $50 for three days. Why can’t they do that for the students who pay 30k a year? Thanks.
Absolutely the worst place I've been. Terrible food for terribly high price. 0 out of 10 would not recommend!
Might get better moving forward, first day I came here I was greeted by rude security and separated from my property. The food is solid though
food poisoning Don't be fooled! They roll out the good food during CFAW but it's not like that most of the time.
So i ordered a sandwich and then they decided to drench it in pizza sauce. Idk if they were trying to get rid of extra pizza sauce or the workers were just going rogue because i did not ask for sauce on it. Im also allergic to tomatoes so i couldnt eat it.
Disgusting food almost all the time I avoid it as much as I can. It can be good but you never know until it's too late. Last time I went I got a burger that was so undercooked I almost threw up
They don’t tend to clean the floors a whole lot... I slipped on a mess on the floor last month and broke my wrist. Overall, the food is decent for a college dining hall.
Their allergy section for gluten free is never restocked. For being known to provide well to those with allergies I’m very disappointed with this service. It is extremely hard to find options and this should be somewhere that is a steady place for people with allergies.
The food is consistently inconsistent. One day, you will walk in get a slice of pizza only to find that is burnt and overcooked, and the next day, you will come in to get fried chicken and find the chicken has not been cooked through and is still raw. I have come in multiple times to find my steamed vegetables were not fully cooked. The other day my friend wanted to get herself a hotdog. The bun was hard enough to be used as croutons on my salad and her hotdog was not so "hot". Needless to say, she did not eat that meal and had to wait in line yet again to see if she could roll the dice to maybe get something edible. I don't know if this is a staffing issue or if the staff just don't care. Either way, there are some health code violations that are not followed. Liberty University, please fix this.
Absolutely disgusting, rudest service ever. Staff looks annoyed that I even dare ask to order anything at all. The dish return smell lingers throughout the facility and is sure to make you vomit anything you just had. Avoid breakfast here at all costs! The eggs are liquid and you can watch your custom omlette to order being made as it falls out of the questionable ziploc bag. Not to mention, please ensure you have at least an hour to wait in lines here as Liberty continues to accept more people without expanding dining options and/or staffing them properly. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
