My wife and I enjoyed a one night October stay for bed and breakfast. The room at the front of the hotel had a wonderful view of the promenade, beach and estuary. We spent ages just watching from the window the shipping heading into and out of the Humber ports. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Friendly staff and excellent service made this another five star experience.
Lovely! Everything had been thought of & it was beautifully clean. Staff were exceptional, would certainly return. Booked Seaview room which was fab.
We came here for birthday dinner. Staff were very attentive. The hotel decor is up to a very high standard. Food was delicious. Will be back for our wedding anniversary. The card on the table was a lovely touch , not too showy a very intimate nod to celebrating a birthday.
Oh my god! Why have I always been afraid to dine here. The food is fantastic. The service was great, so polite and accommodating. The atmosphere and grandeur of the place is wonderful. The food was presented so nicely. We had the set menu. Three courses for only £23 on a Friday night. I will be going back.
Myself, my husband and my elderly mother in law stayed from Wednesday lunchtime through to Friday morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. The accommodation has been beautifully refurbished. Both our rooms had sea views and the hotel frontage looks out onto the beach and is within walking distance of the nearby pier . Both our breakfasts and evening meals in the hotel restaurant were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you Jane We would like to thank you all for making our stay so welcoming . Hopefully we will see you in the not too distant future.
Eating in the restaurant is very elegant, fine food and wine, and friendly staff
Top hotel on all fronts. Recently refurbished so everything is tidy and in great condition. We even had an outdoor terrace with chairs. Friendly staff, wonderful views and top notch food (we had dinner and breakfast - both excellent).
Very impressed. Superb service and customer care. I asked for a quieter room and within minutes we had not only a quieter room but an upgrade at no extra charge. Stunning. The receptionist, Grace, was so friendly and helpful that I christened her Amazing Grace on the spot. Great hotel and we will definitely stay here again. Thank you!!
Lovely old style hotel with a very up to date menu in the restaurant. Six of us dined and drank well. Highly recommended.
Incredible gem in an incredible location. Came for a birthday meal with the 3 course Sunday option. Seated in lobby and brought a drink and menus to browse until we were shown our table which our starters came promptly. All 3 courses were exceptional and well received by all party members. Staff were lovely and helpful and offered great service. Would highly recommend this establishment and it’s not too out of anyone’s price range for a special occasion whatsoever - very very reasonable. Thankyou for having us and most definitely look forward to a return visit ☺️
Came for a works night out, food was fantastic, service was brilliant and drinks were great too! all round amazing venue!
Lovely hotel. Rooms are all recently modernised and decorated. Spacious bathroom with both bath and walk in shower. Bar is very comfortable with great views out to sea and the restaurant serves delicious food in elegant surroundings. Staff all friendly and helpful. All at very reasonable prices, would definitely recommend.
Went for Sunday lunch with family to celebrate my 70th Birthday. The food was beautiful, very tasty and hot. Excellent service and attentive friendly staff. Very reasonably priced and good value. I would definitely recommend it.
First & foremost a massive thank you Sam, you made this visit so special. Your kind & attentiveness from taking our order to ensuring everything was delivered. This was our first Sunday lunch here and will definitely return. All the staff , from first entering and seating us, through lunch & relaxing afterwards. This was so relaxing, nothing rushed. Plenty of time to make up our minds from a fantastic menu. No pressure while eating lunch. So refreshing to know your food is being prepared & the quality was unbelievable. It was so nice after the meal that we were able to sit through in the cosy area at the side of the bar to have a drink thank you Gracie for looking after us .Looking forward to going back .
Had my small wedding reception here. Staff friendly, great service, super food. Had a really fab day and we were looked after marvellously. Rooms absolutely first class and all our guests thought your hotel was superb. Thank you.
Loved our stay great room with a sea view great staff 👍
Only went in for lunch with friends. Service was excellent, food great and prices were excellent. Ate in the formal ding room ( although you could also eat in the bar) a lovely experience which we will replicate.
Cannot comment on the rooms as came for a meal in the restaurant. If that experience is anything to go by I'm sure they'll be great. Friendly, professional service and great food. Love the decor in this comfortable and spacious restaurant. Set menu excellent value for money.
On Saturday 10th January our family organised a lunch for a special birthday, we were a party of 22 of differing ages. The staff were so nice, all of them, making sure that our needs were very well looked after. The food, was exceptional, there was a variety of dishes served and all agreed the presentation and content could not have been better. All in all, thankyou everyone, for making our afternoon so special.
Yet again, another 5 star experience. The warm, friendly and professional service that greeted us from the off was excellent. It was a Monday evening and fairly quiet, but nevertheless always a lovely ambience. Food was just beautiful, and has never failed to disappoint. The young maitre d, unfortunately his name escapes me, was so helpful and friendly and a pure delight. Always recommend the entire service and food package here. A top class hotel and restaurant. Thank you
I'm just home from a lovely evening with my girlfriend, celebrating our 31st anniversary. Everything, from the service to the delicious dinner was perfect. I've been coming to The Kingsway since the late 80's, and it's still my place of choice. Thank you!😀
Great rooms , exceptionally clean.Friendly staff and great food.Whats not to like. Special recommendations , Fish Finger ciabatta sandwich from the bar menu.
Lovely hotel, rooms well maintained, overnight stay, food 10/10 , service in restaurant was patchy no leadership which was disappointing for such a nice hotel which lead to orders taken then not served as had to ask again, restaurant service was only disappointment
Just went for the Dinner. Menu and service excellent but didn't stay in the hotel.
Just had an excellent Sunday lunch. Food and service was fabulous
Second stay, this time in a superior suite with sea view. Room spotless and modern, albeit hot, so a fan would be useful. Staff are polite and helpful. The food is an outstanding quality, we had the breakfast and also booked for the evening meal. You have to book the evening meal in advance, as non staying guests also dine here. The bar is open 24hrs and has a large selection of drinks including speciality drinks. You may need earplugs if staying on the front of the hotel, as the traffic can be noisy
Nice hotel with newly refurbished rooms. Very comfortable. Food in the Restaurant was excellent if a little pricey. Hotel Staff did a great job of looking after you. Location was good but they don't have accessible rooms for disabled. Also watch out for the lift, its a bit jerky.
Just got back home after celebrating my sons wedding today, the staff were amazing caring and friendly and couldn’t do enough, food was excellent amazing amazing Venue, thank you for making the day special, Highly recommended 100% brilliant
Wonderful, just wonderful .. fantastic room "The Promenade" with a panoramic view of the entire bay, on site parking (but be early) , Great food, polite and attentive staff .. you couldnt really ask for any more.
An impromptu visit to Cleethorpes meant a beeline for the Kingsway on Monday 23rd June 2025.. We had a delicious lunch served in beautiful surroundings in this first class hotel.. Having stayed the previous night in Lincoln l now wish that we'd have stayed over in Cleethorpes at the Kingsway Hotel.. We'll be back and thank you for looking after us, it was delightful.
A Charming Stay at The Kingsway Hotel My recent visit to The Kingsway Hotel left a delightful impression. This classic, old-style hotel boasts a truly beautiful location, contributing significantly to its overall charm. The cleanliness of the establishment was immediately apparent, and it's clear the hotel maintains its classic aesthetic with care. I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing their afternoon tea or coffee; it was a lovely touch, made even more special by the thoughtful inclusion of small pieces of chocolate. Throughout my stay, I found the staff to be consistently friendly and competent in their roles, which always enhances the guest experience. While I perused the menu, I didn't order a meal this time around, mainly due to encountering mixed reviews. However, I'm certainly open to trying the food on a future visit. Overall, The Kingsway Hotel offers a beautiful and clean setting with excellent service and a truly enjoyable afternoon tea experience. It's a place I would happily return to.
Hotel was spotless. Service was impeccable, breakfast was lovely and well presented. The free parking was easy and ample. . Situation was perfect only a 5 minute walk to shops restaurants etc and promenade was pretty and well presented . . Sea views from Room 105 were perfect and room was as expected with clean modern bathroom . Only 2 issues to moan about. . First was the heat in the sea view rooms at front was very very hot and without the fan that was supplied would almost be unbearable at only 22° and the road noise at the front was extremely loud so couldn't really open windows . . .our general stay was superb. . 🙂
I’ve stayed a couple of times recently and the service has always been great, the staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable enough. Location is amazing. Off street parking is available if you catch it at the right time. No casual dress in the restaurant.
The rooms are very nice, seems they have been recently refurbished. Good shower and pleasant environment. Location is great, it's a bit old fashioned but that's the charm of the place. Floorboards are a bit squeaky but again that adds to the charm. The staff are very professional and friendly, lovely bar to have quiet pint.
I had an upper courtyard double for 4 days. It had been refurbished and was well appointed and comfortable. The hotel maintains high standards. The restaurant is excellent. The location on the sea/ Humber Estuary is inspiring
Went to celebrate our friend's birthday. Food was lovely but wine was hugely overpriced, I was charged £15 for a glass of white wine. Wasn't presented with a bottle so not sure why it was so expensive. The atmosphere is lovely though.
My wife and I have been regulars at the Kingsway Hotel (4 or 5 times a year) for the last 15 years. It was once like stepping out of real life into a little bit of luxury. Silver service at the tables, no shorts allowed in the dining room. There was always a maitre d running the restaurant, it wasn’t cheap but you expected to pay a little more for the service and quality of food. The hotel is under new management and has changed many things and brought everything down to a more affordable price. This is however reflected in the quality of the food and service.
The sea front location is good but the traffic was very noisy and parking a worry at busy times. The hotel was very clean the staff excellent and the public rooms good. Breakfast was enjoyable although food other than the cooked breakfast was only good for the guests going early. We did not find the evening meal worth the price. We would stay at the hotel again but never in a frontage room.
Stayed Wed - Sat with my wife, staff are very professional and courteous apart from the receptionist on the morning shift, unfortunately found her to be quite dismissive and rude. Some of the breakfast items were under/over cooked at times but didn't spoil our dining experience as the dining staff are very professional and there was plenty of breakfast items to choose from. Our room and bathroom was immaculate and bed quite comfortable. Unfortunately the vehicle noise and constant joy riding from outside the hotel made for a disturbed and unpleasant nights sleep. Every single night around the clock, Boy racers going up and down the sea front. Could do with double glazing and black out curtains as a minimum.
10 October 2025 Just had a lovely meal but the service was shambolic !! Not the usual standard
As it was a Monday evening, we didn’t have much choice, so we decided to walk down to the Kingsway Hotel for dinner. The location is excellent, right on the seafront. We sat in the lounge, enjoyed some drinks, and browsed the menu. Sadly, the menu was limited and uninspiring. We had a lovely table with estuary views. The starters were okay but lacked imagination. We both opted for Dover sole, which tasted as though it had been cooked the night before in Dover and brought up overnight—it was that dry and tough. The vegetables and sauce were fine. Desserts were acceptable but lacked any zest or creativity. Overall, the service was good, except for one detail: the waitress, bless her, scraped and stacked the plates on the table “school dinner style”. Come on, Kingsway—it’s not rocket science. Train your staff, modernise your menu, and most importantly, serve good-quality meals. £140 for two people without wine is plenty anywhere in the UK! Possibly, you’re only getting away with it because of your location?
Went on New Year’s Day for a 2pm dinner service. Location is wonderful looking out on the seafront, no issues there. However, today we were really shocked at how lack lustre the service was, when it wasn’t even particularly busy. No one individual server looked after our table. We were pretty much abandoned after our main course. Plus between the starter and the main there was in excess of a half an hour wait, however when we were eventually served, we didn’t receive an apology for the delay. After our main course, no one attended to us- no one asked if ‘everything was okay so far’, or asked if we wanted more drinks or even offered the dessert menu. We decided to leave early as we really were so shocked at how perfunctory the service had been you get more attentive servers from McDonalds! So no tip given this time. The Kingsway is a shadow of its former self and in this current managerial incarnation- Avoid.
It is our first time in staying in this hotel. The staff were really pleasant throughout. The room was clean. However if you are given room 248 to stay in I would recommend to ask to move. Firstly the room is at the back of the hotel and up in the attic almost, the view is a carpark that is light up at night like a space ship, and there is no curtains to dull this. There is every service lorry arriving right outside the window from the early hours, lorry doors banging, roller doors sliding up and down. So if you are looking for a nice relaxing room with a view this definitely isn’t it. Well unless you like looking at space ships. This room should definitely be taken off the list for guests.
Disappointed with my stay. The room had blinds, but no curtains, and the blinds weren’t blackout at all – the room was flooded with light as soon as the sun came up. Really poor for anyone who values a good night’s sleep. I contacted the hotel about this but never got a response, which only added to the frustration. Basic comfort and customer care just weren’t there. Wouldn’t stay again.
We went for Sunday dinner and to be honest I don't think i would go again . I had lamb it was greasy and very chewy and only just cooked. The roast potatoes were hard and I couldn't chew them even though I have all my own teeth. The seasonal veg was lovely and cooked to perfection but there was very little to go around 6 of us. Sorry Kingsway but it wasn't great.
Second time I have visited here for an evening meal. There is only one vegetarian option which is mushroom stroganoff. This no way resembles a stroganoff as it is a few mushrooms swimming in some sort of gravy. Really unpleasant. I asked if they could do something else and was told no. I won't go again unless they address the poor vegetarian options
Very poor options for vegetarians/vegans although supposedly catering for them. The only thing on offer for evening meal was a lasangna which on arrival looked like a burnt brick. Only went because it was friends birthday and would certainly not recommend to my non meat eating friends. I think whoever devises the menu really should think of some other options. There were seven things to choose from and only one of these was suitable for a veggie
Sunday lunch dreadfully, convinced it had been cooked the day before and warmed up, had 2 attempts at ordering a meal but couldn't eat either, it was meant to be a special treat my husbands birthday, what a disaster
I emailed the Kingsway Hotel to ask if they had any EV Charging, the reply was so poor “we do not have…….”. Yes they answered the question, but that’s it. If they only do the barest minimum on a simple enquiry, I presume that would be the same throughout the whole hotel.
Had a very disappointing experience with this hotel in January when we attempted to book for Christmas lunch. I was convinced to remove the bad hotel review I had posted by the Hotel Manager. The manager Nick Kilmartin convinced me to add our name to the reservations list. It’s now the 23/11/2025 and not a single person has contacted us. Obviously they do not need the custom.
