Opinions de Chalet dell'Aquila Colere
I often go skiing in Colere, and the Chalet dell'Aquila is undoubtedly the best place to take a break. This winter, I've stayed there twice, both as a couple and with friends. The rooms are perfect, always ready with soap, towels, and everything you need. Clean and welcoming as they should be. Dinner and breakfast are superbly prepared: not just any refuge, that's why it's called a chalet! Laura and Luca (the manager and cook) are friendly, engaging, and always ready for a game of cards. I recommend it to anyone who loves the mountains (and even those who aren't used to them). It's easy to get there by chairlift, but I recommend sweating it out on the trails with ski mountaineering or snowshoes. On the right evening, you can see herds of animals, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, and an unparalleled starry sky! Highly recommended!
Incredible place! I've stayed there twice (both as a couple and with friends). The welcome has always been perfect, the location is unparalleled, but the added value is the staff: friendly and approachable, it feels like visiting friends. Other friends of mine also come here for a stopover during their skiing trips or for lunch, and they've always had a great time. Whether it's for a night or a break, it's definitely a guarantee!
The place is amazing. From the moment you arrive and have to take the cable car it’s a magical experience. The views are breathtaking, food is amazing, the cabin is warm, cozy and with everything you need. Amazon staff and clean spaces. Definitely a must need if you’re in the area.
Situated in a stunning location, it offers good food and a pleasant atmosphere.
The Rifugio Chalet dell'Aquila is a must-see for anyone visiting Colere. Located at the foot of the Presolana and Ferrantino mountains, directly on the slopes, it offers an experience that impeccably combines flavor, hospitality, and nature. With the new management for the 2025/26 season, the chalet has made a significant leap in quality. The managers are truly talented, helpful, and always smiling, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The service is attentive yet informal, perfect for both a quick ski break and a relaxing lunch. The menu is excellent, carefully curated, and full of inviting options. The grilled meat is always a guarantee, flavorful and cooked to perfection, one of the best in the area. Ideal for recharging your batteries after a morning on the slopes. To top it all off, a breathtaking view makes every meal even more special. Eating with the Presolana before your eyes is priceless. Chalet dell'Aquila is a refuge that captivates and where you naturally return.
Stunning refuge, it's a shame that it lacks some trees to shelter from the scorching summer sun, but it's a place worth visiting for lovers of mountains with lunar landscapes.
We returned for Ferragosto with friends, and once again I was thrilled to find myself facing the Presolana massif. It's so close, you can almost touch it. We returned to the Aquila refuge after two years and found new management, who have made it more welcoming and run it with care and great kindness. The restaurant and bar serves hot dishes and snacks, and outside there are tables and some loungers to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view. It's definitely worth a visit. Well done! And go Rocco... (he's the owner's fantastic dog).
Maurizio and Sandra welcomed us during a very difficult time! They are two extremely kind, welcoming, and attentive people! They take care of their guests with extreme dedication and passion! The chalet is truly delightful and welcoming! The stay was excellent, and the cakes are amazing! The location is also excellent; on sunny days, the view is breathtaking! Highly recommended! Thank you so much again for everything. I'll be back soon to visit you and enjoy a delicious lunch!
Very good Grappa Al Moscato and Beer ....
I went today to eat while I was on the ski slopes. For pasta they only have lasagna while instead they abound in sandwiches and slices of pizza (it feels like you're in the Orio centre). I asked for a sandwich with ham and fontina and they told me that today they only had Emmental for cheese. Anyway it was good, big and hot. The beer was also good (Colere craft beer in cans)
For a high-mountain refuge, the food is very basic and low-quality, probably due to the recent change in management. The dishes available are very limited. I suggested cotechino with polenta, which was truly unappetizing. Let's just say we've had better experiences at other mountain refuges. I hope the new management manages to offer better, more local dishes over time, not just piadinas, sandwiches, and French fries.
Go down to the other restaurant. The prices are high and unclear. The staff is very rude. They also have no idea what ingredients are in the dishes they serve.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible that there's NOTHING gluten-free to eat today... it was around 10:00 and I usually have a snack, with whatever gluten-free thing I can find. I had already been last year and had bought some chips (the classic bags)... today there weren't even those, and especially today it's the Immaculate Conception so there were a lot of people. It really seems shameful to me. Furthermore, when I asked if there were other types of chips (because there was one that clearly stated it contained wheat), I was told no and that the only gluten-free thing they could have was polenta, which obviously would be ready after 12:00 (but I didn't want to have lunch... and even if I had wanted to eat... Eating polenta like that without anything else seems like another joke to me). It doesn't take much these days to make a celiac happy, especially since packaged foods have a really long expiration date. I'm sorry, but that's not fair. Then, the guys were very kind and helpful and even apologized... but we went somewhere else...
Nice refuge but terrible food Cold sandwich and poor-quality cured meats Dirty restrooms even in the early morning It's a shame because the location and interior of the place are very beautiful; it wouldn't take much! An opinion shared by many people inside with whom I shared a table.
After an hour of waiting and numerous inquiries about the status of my order, they only gave me one sandwich (which was also disgusting) instead of two, and they refused to give me the second because I didn't have the receipt that had been collected an hour earlier when I ordered the coffee and drinks that were part of my order. I paid €16 for two sandwiches, two coffees, and two bottles of still water. I absolutely do not recommend this place (it's better to get a sandwich from home, which, even if cold, is 10x better than the ones they make there, and you'll save hours of precious time to spend skiing or something else).
I wouldn't even give one star for the welcome we received at this refuge! A plate of polenta with cheese cost us 16 euros! A sandwich that was uneatable! The polenta they serve comes with two pieces of cheese! Stay away!
Terrible experience: €16 for a spoonful of cold polenta and three small pieces of sausage with synthetic casing served on a plastic plate. There's no table service or even a menu; you order at the counter. Nothing traditional, no casoncelli, no local cheeses, no porcini mushrooms, no stewed meats, no cheap bagged cured meats, and no cheeses from a mixed platter. Here, you only get piadinas and sandwiches, averaging €12 each, or cold polenta paired with low-quality sausage. I never expected such poor service after a year of closure. When the resort reopened this year, I had high expectations. The other two refuges also offer very poor food. I say this for the good of tourism. If you continue like this, you'll only ruin a beautiful resort and ruin people's skiing experience. Change jobs, go shoveling snow, or work as a parking attendant, I don't know.
