Came for lunch today with a group of friends from church. This was my first time at Shogun, and I will definitely be back again! The food was absolutely delicious! The service and atmosphere were great. The prices are also pretty reasonable, even for the sushi menu. Highly recommend!
I had to come and leave a review after we had dinner at Benihana’s last night. 😩 SHOGUN IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST PLACE for Hibachi! Their food, flavor and prices are top tier! We will NEVER go anywhere else for hibachi! See y’all again soon!
I've been to a bunch of Shoguns and they're usually very nice and I like them, but this one is even better then the others. They have great prices, even better food, and everyone was great. I recommend Shogun since most are nice and priced better than the competition usually.
I have eaten here for at least ten years. My favorite item is the Phladelphia rolls. Their Philadelphia rolls are some of the best I've eaten anywhere. My daughter likes teriyaki chicken while my dad gets a bento box.
We went in on September 27th for my wife and daughters birthday dinner. We have never had such great service sitting in the hibachi. Lindsey made sure to take great care of us and we never had to ask for a refill. Yessi was our chef and she did amazing. Both were super friendly and made sure we had a great time. These two need recognition for there great customer service.
We dined here this past Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I ordered the Shogun Special while my husband selected the Mikado Special, and we shared the soft shell crab. Each dish was prepared beautifully, with excellent flavor and presentation. Our hibachi chef provided outstanding service and made the evening memorable. While the manager could improve on guest engagement and customer service, the overall experience was very positive. We would gladly return if we are ever in the area again.
Quality of food was 10/10. Fresh veggies and seafood were amazing. Our server was quick, courteous, and attentive. We ate on the table side but still had hibachi and will be returning to take the little one to the live cooking side. The food was so delicious and well cooked. My husband and I have decided they are the best crab puffs we've ever had.
First time coming to this shogun, walked in at 11:30 and they sat us immediately. We got 1 shaggy doll roll (which is cooked) and it was amazing. Then for our main course we got teriyaki steak with fried rice (we asked for no onions) and veggies it was very good and quick. Great lunch for 3 for about $40 so no bad at all. Definitely will come back!
I really was disappointed in the food. First the dressing on the salad . . .yuck. How about a Ginger dressing? The fried rice should have vegetables. It rated a 2 with me. The beef teriyaki had too much teriyaki sauce on it. The food lacked that I doubt I'll ever go back. People don't know what they are missing.
We dined in for lunch. Service was good but the server didn’t offer us any sauce for our sushi, which I thought was weird. The California and Philadelphia roll was tasty with the spicy mayo and eel sauce that we got after requesting it. We also got fried rice. I took off one point because my mom got beef fried rice and it was a large plate of rice and a very small serving of beef. I didn’t get a picture, we were hungry. However, everything tasted great. I would recommend.
It was lunch and a culinary show. We got there around 1pm and we had the place to ourselves. Lunch started with the juggling act and lots of fire display by the chef. Awesome! The food was great and the experience was entertaining. I took 1 star off because they couldn't understand us and gave us things we didn't ordered.
THE AFTER (BUILD) PARTY!! After a day of transforming a skeleton of a trailer into a partially sheet rocked and partially lit inhabitation, with some minor framing adjustments, it was time to celebrate…and eat. SHOGUN JAPANESE GRILL AND SUSHI Accommodating a large group on short notice… no problem. Sunday evening, so there’s that…not busy. But, the place is built for groups of people sitting around large stainless grill tops in a bar type seating style. Kinda fun, especially if you have not ever done a hibachi grill before. Pricing-wise, this place is up to 1/2 the cost of Benihana! Good News. That is most, but not all, of the good news… The atmosphere is cool and authentic feeling, in that amusement park Asian way. Dark and foreboding. You definitely feel like you are visiting this place, not like you are “home.” Now, I am down for that, but I am not from Asia either, so this is like an adventure. Some foreign Bonzai type plants, red paper lanterns with Asian Japanese lettering on them, heavy red wood theme throughout. Some cool blue LED under-lighting on the sushi bar counter area, sweet! We had 3 grill tables filled up and 3 separate chefs for our whole group. The Show: Very fun first time experience! Go get you some! It is however, pretty much exactly the same as I remember from when I went to a hibachi when I was 8, and when I was 16, and 18, 32, 40 and uuuuhhhhh now. They have a fun trick of chunking food into the patron’s mouths from the grill while the cooking show is going on. Now, the accuracy of the chef throwing the food is directly proportional to how cool his uniform is. The guy with the cooler hat and more ninja like outfit can aim, the ones that look like an extra cook they pulled in from stocking the cooler…not so much. There will be a huge FIRE! That’s on purpose, you can feel the heat from across the room. This will probably scare your little kids and did some of mine. Again, this is probably directly related to how much access your kids have to lighting fires at home. That’s on you. Food: Sushi (some pics included), well when we say Sushi, we are really talking about California Rolls. Wildly popular and very easy to enjoy. Shogun does not disappoint. They look beautiful and have plenty of condiments to help steer the flavor the way you prefer, wasabi, drizzled sauces for your roll of choice, pickled ginger, soy…etc. The Grilled Stuff: hmmm. Fun. Experiential. Aside from that, pretty flavorless, unless you love soy sauce. Which most of my family does. We had the Teriyaki special grill, so there was a bit of that flavor. But, it is flash grilled and really, not enough time to taste marinated or developed. Right off the grill, extreme heat helps cover a multitude of iniquities. But, if you wait for all of your plate to be populated by the chef serving a show and food sequentially to a large group of people to wait for a “full plate” picture, like I included for you guys (your welcome), the food loses quite a bit of luster. The Fried rice, is a nice way to bump the price per plate up $3, is fun to watch them make and half of the show, really. But, Chinese take-out rivals the flavor and composition of this rice pretty easily. The Steak was, surprisingly, cooked well (Med Rare) and was also tasty beef. Kudos. Chicken and Shrimp spent a little too much time in the sun. Plenty of food (they are generous with the fried rice, whether you ordered it or not), like I said they are going to make fried rice for SOMEBODY, it is half of the show. So you have to make a certain amount or it just falls flat in the presentation. Definitely worth doing. Come hungry. Leave your palate at the door. And enjoy some laughs with family and friends.
Fantasy Roll (amazing), Vegetable Tempura (delicious), and Yakisoba Steak Noodles (little sweet but good)—- also we had the unagi & tamago (it was so so). Service was okay, I felt rushed they kept taking the menu even though we had planned to make additional sushi orders also they servers seemed to be arguing over shifts and tables which was really awkward.
Normally everything is excellent, I can't comment bad about the food because I never received it, I ordered 11 piece sushi and 2 Red Tobiko and received absolutely NOTHING. Once my family finished with their meals I requested them take it off the bill and cancel order, how confused were the chefs I have no idea, I will check out other sushi locations, normally we always ate at this one, so disappointing. Thank you
I ordered the OMG roll. It absolutely reeked and looked like I ordered a pile of poop. It was sloppily made and put together. I could easily tell all the food was frozen and not seasoned in the slightest when they cooked it. Service sucked, they handed me my food and ticket with a spot that seemed that they were trying to force me to tip (for a pickup order?!). I may as well have just eaten a bunch of left over crunchies from a deep fryer with all the crap they put on top of the roll. It was bland, cold (even though I got there quickly), and disgusting. I won’t be returning.
Usually this place is pretty good. Tonight on the other hand we've been seated at our table for an hour and a half waiting for a chef to come to the hibachi table. The reason we're waiting this long in because they are short staffed....which is understandable....but our chef was due to finally start cooking but the manager turned him away to do the hibachi table next to us because the customers complained that it was taking too long. The chef was actually standing at our table ready to begin the show and cook for us but was told to leave and take care of another table. We had two kids with is who were utterly disappointed and confused. Those people were here after we were but they went full Karen and got their way. We are understanding of the situation but disappointed in the way it was handled. So if you do decide to dine here, remember to cry to the manager and you'll probably get your way. Ask for discounts and preferential treatment because she is all about giving in to any and all confrontation.. The manager's name is Tina. On the other hand the staff is excellent and the food is outstanding. The only real problem is Tina, the manager....who is a liar.
