Great food and great service. Had the shrimp tacos and they were amazing. I'm from out of state but will definitely go back when in town.
Ok, This place is awesome. The chips are thick, the salsa is hot, and the drinks are tasty. Beware drunken diners who will chat you up and then demand you pay their bill! Otherwise the food is insane, absolutely amazing. Carne asada perfecto! Sopa de pollo PERFECTO!!! Guacamole so fresh you can still taste the tree. Just beware the drunken man eating the whole fish. He will demand you pay his check after talking to you in spanish you can't make out too well. We will go back, as long as he isn't there!
Best chicken soup ever! The staff was great especially the waiter and bartender. Great atmosphere but music was a little loud. The food is off the hook!
Highlight: Best Coctel de Camarones(Shrimp Cocktail) in the area. Please don’t let the name fool you. It is not what comes to mind when you think shrimp cocktail. This shrimp cocktail is a full meal, it is a savory cold shrimp soup rather than the dipping appetizer you were imagining. This delight comes served in a very large cocktail cup, and a basket of crackers. I would recommend you pass on the cracker and eat this magic goblet with their homemade tortilla chips and spicy sauce. Food: They have a very diverse menu, I have only ordered the seafood. I know many of my un-adventurous friends like the traditional tacos and chicken, but I don’t make it a habit to order that kind of thing in a seafood restaurant. The ceviche is cheap! Tostada order of ceviche is a large portion for only 4.50 if that is your thing. Service: Excellent, fast, and friendly. They are very attentive to tortilla chip and dipping salsa refill. Did I mention their home made tortilla chip and salsa are on the house? Environment/Location: This is where some people might have some reservations. Neighboring some sketchy locations it might make people think twice. This is definitely a hidden jewel you can always get it to go.
It's a great place to enjoy a good meal. The service is the best along with the food. I recommend it.
Great food .amazing service. Thanks to all staff to give such great service. LOVE THIS PLACE AND I REALLY RECOMMEND 😉
Really good Mariscos. Since they have a bar, you can get mixed drinks also. Nice, friendly wait staff!!
Great ceviche! Full shrimp included. Salsa is actually hot with the complimentary chips you get.
Delicious,I have 29 years eating here sea food, carne asada my favorite place
The best seafood and service I’ve ever had we enjoyed it a lot!!
best, fresh oysters with ceviche on top of them, and fried mojarra with salsa a la diabla I've ever had! must try
Food is awesome great place to go and Robert he's the cool host bartenders forget the rest
Quail and shrimp was tasty. Fun place with good energy all around but music is a little too loud. Our server was sweet and patient. Overall very good experience
Mariscos La Costa, also known as Costa Brava is a clean and quaint local joint with nautical decoration befitting a seafood restaurant. I’ve been here a few times and enjoyed it every time. Their seafood soups are excellent, their ceviche fresh, and tacos scrumptious. Staff and service are also terrific.
Great Seafood and the service was great..) Definitely will be back when I come back to Southern California visiting from Seattle, Washington..
Delicious food, nice and kind staff, slow but good
I love the food here !!! The best tacos el Gobernador I ever taste hope the lower a bit the prices cuz just one taco el gobernador cost $9.99 so please lower the price so si can buy 3 next time 😆 cuz are soooo good

What can I say other than my hats off to this place. It was my first time there and the service was quick and pleasant. Order the Ceviche and few beers during lunch and you'll walk away with a smile. Price is reasonable. Stay up people.
MARISCOS LA COSTA has just been voted the best seafood/Mariscos restaurant in Orange County!!! Located in Costa Mesa and under new ownership/management, this fine restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious mariscos along with an abundance of mexican food, all served in big portions! Our specialties include, but not limited to; SHRIMP AND SEAFOOD COCKTAILS, WHOLE FRIED FISH, SEAFOOD SALADS, FRESH OYSTERS, SEAFOOD SOUPS, and much more. We serve incredible and tasty, beef and chicken fajitas, chiles rellenos, mole with chicken, tender steaks, chicken and Beef soups a-la-mexican style, and many more dishes. Come on in and new owner Erasmo will welcome you with his warm charm and exceptional service. We also have a bar for you to enjoy cold micheladas, ice cold buckets of beer, delicious mango margaritas, and much more.! Parties of any size are always welcomed! Come on in for great food, spirits, and unforgettable good times. MARISCOS LA COSTA, an incredible dining and fun experience!
I would definitely give more stars if possible👏🏼 Delicious food, pulpo tacos exceeded my expectations. Green Tomatillo sauce is a must try. My kids loved the Asada tacos with hand made tortillas. The Vaso Loco was amazing. I highly recommended this place. The customer service was very friendly neat and clean place!!
Authentic Mexican Food, we love it. The shrimp cocktail is so good, Order 2 tacos and it's more than you can eat. Not fancy. But good food

The menu is totally diffrent, it is not spanish food. It is mexican food, which is still great. We mistakenly went in thinking they would have paella. Just call ahead to make sure they give you an overview of their correct menu. Otherwise, really nice waitresses and management, clean and food looks delicious.
Great food they under seasoned the Carne asada but its all good because you make tacos and you throw some salsa la diabla and it is delicious. Plus the amount of food they give you is ligit
Pretty good food, had a shrimp cocktail that was darn good! But be prepared to spend lots of money 💰
Good food, a little higher priced than your regular whole in the wall. But that is to be expected at places like this. All in all I will go back.
Food has always been great here and the service great, i recomend it if you want a lil kickback place ,try the campechanas -all kinds of shrimp and octopus 🐙
We moved from Los Angeles to Orange County and have been looking for a good Mexican Restaurant. We've been to several already with no favorite. We walked in to Costa Brava and were not impressed with the decor, but we decided to give it a try anyway. I ordered a carne asade burrito with the sauce on the side and the flavor was excellent. The sauce was nothing like I've ever tasted; flavorfull, spicy, but not too hot. I shared the burrito with my toddler son and seemed to enjoy it as well. My husband thought his chicken tacos were pretty good too. Our total bill for the three of us came out to about $16.71. Our waiter was pleasant and very attentive. I can't wait to go back there again!
My friend, & myself experienced Mariscos for the 1st time. The chips and salsa (chile style) Ohhhh so good and spicy. We had lime margaritas with Tajin on the rim, YUM! Ceviche, YUM, shrimp and carne asada tacos, YUM! Chile relleno, rice and beans were so shockingly bland. Bummer, that's my favorite dish. The setting there is comfortably outside due to the pandemic. They got our order wrong 3 times but each time, service was quick and resolved. This little hiccup was possibly from having a non English speaking waitress. No big deal as it was handled and quickly. I'd try it again.
You step out of a strip mall in Costa Mesa and step into a little town somewhere in Mexico. You don’t even have to fly or go to the airport to lose yourself in an authentic Mexican joint full of flavors of Mexico and music and atmosphere unique to this magical country. We decided to visit this place on a Friday night after basketball practice and the place was pretty packed with a few empty tables. There is a live DJ that is blasting Mexican music very loudly and also have karaoke going on TV which the patrons get involved every 10 minutes or so from their tables. Menu is expansive. A little on the pricy side but hey you are next to Newport Beach and a mile from the water so it is to be expected. I ordered their shrimp burrito and my son ordered the #3 which is a grilled shrimp special. He devoured every bit of his plate that was accompanied by rice and beans and salad and tortilla. My burrito was the size of Newport pier. It was very full and wet. The flavour was just ok but I was a bit disappointed and had to add quite bit of salsa and habanero sauce to kick it up but managed to only eat half of it. Service is great and our waitress was very attentive to our needs.
When I ordered fried catfish, I expected a little deep-fried filet. I can honestly say this place exceeded my expectations. Not really my thing, but if a whole fried fish is what you want, this is the place!
1 ceviche de pescado, enough for 2. Taco El Governador was yummy 😋 cooked shrimp with melted cheese on a crunchy, chewy tortilla with that relish and special sauce 🤤
I work nearby and had lunch with some coworkers here (10 of us). We were greeted promptly with a smile. Ordered a Corona bottle with lime. There is plenty of seating inside along with a few seats outside. The decor is ocean themed and Mexico related. The music was a bit loud for conversation but we were able to have some loud convos. They offer chips and salsa at no additional cost. I ordered the small shrimp cocktail that comes with tomato, onion, cilantro and avocado in the cocktail base with a dab of ketchup. They offer various seafood dishes along with burritos, tacos, soups and plates. They do have a bar and offer buckets of beer. The staff is great and attentive, we will be back hopefully sooner than later The staff is great and attentive, we will be back hopefully sooner than later. No issues with parking ♿ Accessable
Two loud TV's and hard RocknRoll in the background. The food was amazing. We had Caldo siete mares and a molcajete mixto. Very good

The shrimp lettuce tomatoes were good, rice was good. Terrible cocido. Sad way of fixing it. Tasted awful
This restaurant is best kept secret for fresh ---and I mean fresh oysters on halfshell. A Mexican restaurant you say? Yep. Don't knock til u tried it. We FLY to San Fran, Seattle for bivalves. Great place! We bring our own fresh horseradish.
A hair came out in my broth... and they did nothing!!! They thought I didn't want to pay for the food...and the truth is, very bad attitude on the part of the manager.
When I ate there a kitchen metal scrubber was inside my menudo. Very noisy, loud and boisterous drunkards. kitchen was so dirty. Will never go there. Gambling might be going on there. Be careful.
Came here based on all the positive reviews and left disappointed. First, the food is fair at best, not great. The chips are way too thick (or stale, not sure which) for my liking, and the salsa is very spicy (which I actually didn't mind but don't think the average person can tolerate). Second, they must reuse pans or cooking utensils without cleaning them or something because we ordered carne asada quesadillas and they had bits of fish in them. When you order steak but unexpectedly get fishy taste in every bite, it's pretty disgusting. Would not recommend this place.
I was looking for a place to eat close to work, I googled this place and say 4.2 stars, so, I gave it a try. Service was good, the presentation of the food is good but the taste 😣 there was NO taste in that ceviche, I think the cooked in plain water, rather than cooking it with lemon, just like a classic Mexican Ceviche, I definitely not coming back to this restaurant. Btw.. there was NOBODY in the restaurant, maybe that says it all.

Server acted as if she was annoyed, no suggestive selling, not personable, stood in corner chatting w other servers essentially ignoring the few guests in the restaurant. The menu is impossible to read, it is cluttered with every combination possible, the print is so small you need a microscope to read it. The food is somewhat consistent w what I remember from the past, but the presentation is not. The prices are ridiculously high given the impersonal, inattentive service, ridiculous menu, and unpleasant atmosphere. The rearrangement of the tables, getting rid of the banquetes is a big mistake, obviously an attempt to seat more customers, it’s too impersonating, too open, uncomfortable! The restaurant was too dark and the music was insanely loud. Over all it’s disjointed, and mismanaged.
Got wrong order for my daughter... The shrimp cocktail was blend and shrimp was not clean..waitress lagged it.. was too busy entertaining some other men customers. Had to wave her down. Never going there.

My wife's chile rellenos we're greasy. My fish tacos came grilled when I asked for fried. When the check came the waitress mixed up our orders and the check with someone else's. It was after closing so we paid(more). Looking back I shouldn't have but we didn't want to be those people.... Will not eat here again. It's a shame.
Will never return . I received raw deep fry Fish. The music it's to loud that u can't have conversation with anyone.
Came here thinking it was gonna be good.. service turned out to be horrible. The food was flavorless; didn't care for the peas and carrots in the Mexican rice. The restaurant alone was hot muggy and humid plus our server never came by to check on us or to see if we needed refills on our drinks. 👎🏼👎🏼
The food was flavorless and the meats served in the molcajete were over cooked and very dry. The rice and beans that came with our meal were cold. I was expecting way better food because of the positive reviews but was highly disappointed.
I ordered aguachiles and I was very disappointed, no flavor, not spicy and really expensive. The micheladas are very weak. The only good thing was the chips and salsa, but everything else was just not good at all. Save for you money and go to another places for mariscos.
The food here is not what it use to be. Brought my family here after Sunday mass and was super disappointed in the quality of the food. My husband ordered a molcajete ranchero but it lacked flavor, lacked seasoning, and was very poorly made. And the service was bad. They had a full house and were very backed up we witnessed about 3 tables get up and leave. Unfortunately we won’t be back.
Horrible service, didn't even had time to see the menu when they asked(not in a polite way) for me to order. When I was done with my food my plate got taken before I could even put down my fork.
