Opinions de Röckenwagner Culver City
I love this place and come frequently for a good hot breakfast or sometimes just pop in for a delicious pastry and coffee. Everything here is made in house and with tons of love. I personally love the weisswerst and eggs with a side of toast, it's simple, authentic and takes me right back to Berlin. This place is great for Los Angeles locals and vistitors alike.
The croissants are superb and I am a pastry snob who has lived in Paris.
Went in here for breakfast with my wife and son and the waiter was very patient and understanding with us. Our son felt sick so we ended up taking everything to go and our waiter went out of his way to help us out without getting frustrated. I can tell you that many places in the DC area, where we flew in from, would be annoyed by our requests and would not be as understanding. The food and coffee were also great. Thank you.
Cozy place with great bread, pastries and friendly staff. Love their indoor seating, perfect for a morning pick-me-up. Will definitely come back.
Went twice today and literally bring all my friends and family whenever they visit. Jeremy is a superstar who races about making sure we have all the foods and coffees of our dreams. The pretzel egg and avocado croissant is delicious every time I get it and the texture's of the pancakes are perfect. The actual bakery has addictive baked goods and the coffee is the best in town. My wife loves the yogurt and the pretzel jalapeno cheese
There is passion here. One of the best breakfast cafes I have ever been too in Los Angeles. This place hits on every level and is my new go to spot. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich. Top notch and good vibes.
Röckenwagner Bakery is a true gem in Culver City. The pastries are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and baked to perfection. I especially love the croissants, which are flaky and buttery, and the plum tart, which is tart and juicy. The scones are also a great option, try the 5-grain ones with a latte. If you're looking for a delicious and satisfying pastry, Röckenwagner Bakery is the place to go, well worth the drive. Try parking around the corner.
I was in charge of a for thanksgiving. Of course I came here. The family made fun of me for bringing so many. We ate them all. I always leave here with pretzel rolls -or baguette or bun. The pretzel croissant is everything. Really enjoyed the pineapple muffin. Also, all their breakfast items are delicious. I’ve also loved the hot mufaletta sandwich.
Fantastic breakfast spot with a strong focus on quality pastries and well-made food. The croissants really stand out: crisp, flaky, and deeply golden on the outside, while soft, airy, and buttery inside—exactly how a proper croissant should be. You can tell they’re baked fresh and handled with care. The pretzel croissant sandwich was excellent and easily a highlight. The pretzel-style crust adds a subtle saltiness and chew that works perfectly with the soft interior, and the fillings were generous and well-balanced, not heavy or greasy. Other pastries we tried were consistently good, with great texture and flavor, and nothing felt overly sweet. The cappuccino was bold and rich with a strong coffee presence, paired with smooth milk foam—great if you like your coffee with real character. Overall, a very solid breakfast place that clearly takes pride in their baking and coffee. Definitely worth coming back.
I would’ve added a picture of my food, but it was so good. I ate it too quickly. We got the breakfast burrito and the pretzel croissant sandwich. Croissant flaky buttery pretzel so delicious. The breakfast burrito had the perfect amount of eggs incredible. Prices were phenomenal compared to other places I’ve been in the atmosphere was pleasant. You will not be disappointed if you stop here for breakfast.
Rockenwagner Bakery Café & Market on Washington Blvd is such a great spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it perfect whether you’re grabbing something quick or sitting down to enjoy it. Everything is fresh and delicious, and I love that they also offer pre-made food for fast grabs when you’re in a hurry. The quality is always consistent and you can tell care goes into what they make. It’s a quick and easy stop on my way to work at Sin.D.Smooth, and honestly a lifesaver on busy mornings. Definitely a Washington Blvd favorite!
Staff are very helpful, and the food is good quality for the price. It's such a nice little café, I got to sit down and do my work for a good amount of time, and the environment is super chill.
Every time I’m in Los Angeles, stopping by Röckenwagner Bakery is a must. The team is always really friendly, welcoming, and smiling. I always order a chai latte and some pastries, and when I have breakfast there, the muesli is delicious. In short, I love this place and highly recommend it!
Wow I love this place. Went on a Friday at 10am and it wasn't crowded yet. I just grabbed a table inside and didn't have to wait long for our waiter. At the front entrance, there's a nice selection of ready-to-go meals (soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and other small sides) and a ton of artisan baked goods and desserts. They are popluar for their coffees and yes my hot vanilla latte was exceptional. They also sell groceries which is pretty cool. My pretzel croissant sandwich with a medium fried egg and a side of tater tots was so delicious. The croissant was fresh and flaky. Parking is either metered street parking or free parking in the surrounding residential streets (watch for street cleaning days). Their ready-to-go Turkey Reuben Sandwich and Cool Sesame Noodles with Chicken were also very tasty. Can't wait to go back.
Both food and service was outstanding! Definitely recommend!
Love this cute place in the neighborhood. Love their Museli and croissant sandwiches.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Everything we've tried here is delicious! The Turkey Reuben is really fantastic (especially with provolone cheese if you don't care for Swiss like me). All the croissants are spectacular! And they serve Caffe Luxxe coffee, so definitely go for that because it's really great. I haven't tried any of their takeaway items yet, but will come back and update once I do.
Both the umlaut and prominently displayed pretzels hint that this is a German bakery, but Röckenwagner offers more than just that. The wide range of pastries and dishes rival what you can find elsewhere in a traditional bakery, or cafe. Among everything I've had, the lox danish is the absolute highlight. Fresh lox, cream cheese and everything seasoning on top of a flaky kouign amann without the caramelization, beautifully garnished by dill and capers, this pastry is both delicate and delicious, and $6.5 is basically what you usually pay for half of a boring lox bagel! Their butter croissant isn't as impressive, it's soft and on the bland aide. The pretzel version is better thanks to the unique alkaline taste. The preztel bacon and gruyere croissant plays a double twist on the traditional ham & cheese croissant: pretzel skin, bacon heart. I wish I had it warmed up a little for a crispier crust. While I'm not always amazed, I feel that this is a place that I have lots of options and won't go too wrong with any of them. From their pretty expansive breakfast and brunch menu, I tried the pretzel burger. The beef patty is tender and juicy, but the presentation gives me an old school diner vibe. Well, maybe they are more of a diner than a hipster cafe. Service at Röckenwagner has always been friendly and attentive. There are several big tables inside, and four smaller ones in front of the bakery where you'll get a ton of sun. There can be a short line, but it comes and goes. I wound't mind a little wait, and will definitely go back again at least for that lox croissant.
Highly recommend this place. The food was delicious. We tried the pretzel burger and a grain bowl and both were better than I expected. We’ll definitely come back! The staff was very nice and the vibe was great. Good place to stop for lunch, bring your computer and have some coffee and baked goods, etc.
DELICIOUS iced matcha. Apparently also a pretty good iced coffee but if you like it with some sweetener make sure to ask! We also had the ham and cheese croissant, and the pastry was so flakey/buttery/delicious. They have a pretty solid breakfast menu although we didn't have a chance to try anything off it. Def worth a stop!
Amazing bakery near Culver City. Pastries and coffee here are awesome. This is the closest to a French bakery I’ve seen in southern LA. Also the egg sandwich is great. Super friendly staff and fresh items. It’s an easy to get in / out place for a quick bite.
Before catching a flight, we decided to swing by Röckenwagner Bakery in Culver City (near Los Angeles) for a quick caffeine and pastry fix. We ordered a flat white and an oat milk latte, along with two chocolate croissants. Everything was great—the drinks were smooth and the croissants were deliciously fluffy. What surprised me was the pricing; quite reasonable, especially considering the cafe's location. We dropped by during a somewhat off-hour in the late afternoon, so we had the place to ourselves. Took advantage of the situation by sitting outside to enjoy the weather and our treats. It's a great spot for quality baked goods and coffee if you're in the area.

Ham and cheese croissant was unassumingly amazing. This is just a great, no nonsense locals spot with quality bread and snacks. But you could also have a real meal here and post up with your laptop. They have wifi.
The lox Danish might be my new favorite breakfast item! The blueberry muffin was melt in your mouth, and the heirloom tomato benedict inspirational. On top of fantastic food, all the staff were delightful.

Went here to order a quick beverage and baked good. I was impressed with their expeditious process and the quality of their goods. The iced coffee thoroughly hit the spot and their small breakfast egg sliders were delightful. I also had a pretzel bun slider and no lie, it might have been the best pretzel bun I had ever had. So wonderful and worth going back for just that. HIGHLY recommend anything pretzel bun from this establishment.
I tried the limited-edition Super Bowl Dog, and it was seriously delicious. Packed with flavor and perfectly done—definitely worth ordering if you see it on the menu. The pretzel bun burger was just as impressive. Juicy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, with a patty that delivers on every bite. Everything felt well thought out and indulgent in the best way. Highly recommended!
I had the omelette on the specials menu. Mushroom, onions and bacon. So good. Service was good too. It's a small place, seems popular. Maybe a little understaffed. But we were seated and served pretty promptly. My wife really likes their blueberry pancakes. And the sourdough toast is wonderful.
Great breakfast/lunch spot! Had the rockenwagner burger and chai latte and they were both excellent. Staff was also very friendly. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

The bread was fresh and good but the food a disappointment after eating many meals Chef Hans Röckenwagner's more formal places (and dreaming about many of the dishes). Straightforward, brilliant, inventive flavors and combinations were in every dish. And always more than a competitive prices to add a final flourish. Here the bread and bakery goods are very good though two other bakeries no long around had much, much better pretzel buns. The menu sound divine but the sandwiches feel skimpy in appearance and taste. The service is enthusiastic and you can see an owner overseeing it all. The clever decor is upbeat but austere, including backless stools. We wanted this to be our "go-to" place but even the menu (one vegetarian) prevents this. The place was busy, busy and happy to see this

Coffees are good, nice ambiance, deco and lighting. Food presentation reminded me of a boulangerie in France. ❤️ The pain au chocolat was a bit skimpy on the chocolate.
Wanted to try the breakfast sandwich that all rave in their reviews. The crossaint was decent - slightly above average - and the eggs underseasoned. Made for an underwhelming sando. Service, well it's seat yourselves but there are no signs to inform of it and although we stood there for a few minutes no one made the effort to greet us. Once we saw two couples walk in and just grab a table, we realized we had to seat ourselves. Of course, we then had to wait for a table to become available.
I used to go here, but not anymore. I don’t want to support a business who uses “anti-homeless” spikes on their outdoor benches. It’s cruel and exclusive. Why make homelessness even harder for people? Not a great message for a business unless that message is “we don’t care about people”. Perhaps finding a better more compassionate solution is the answer?
Went in today and decided to sit inside, biggest mistake I’ve ever made! I was looking for a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy my food but that was a disaster. As soon as I sat down there was an employee that was very passive aggressive towards a lady that was expressing how she did not like her food and his responds was a little rude didn’t offer to make it better all he said was oh what’s wrong with it for future reference lol I was floored felt so bad for her. Then he just wouldn’t stop talking about politics, news reports and other things super loud like come on dude let people enjoy their food in peace! Never going back there!
barebones style place. I had a bagel of which they only offered two types plain or with everything it was fresh , the highlight of it was the whipped cream cheese. One of our group had eggs ranchero it was covered in what appeared to be BBQ sauce dark brown liquid he wasn't happy with his food. The coffee was ordered americano $5.50 no refills which they were shocked while I was not. IT'S A COFFEE SHOP! this is ok for coffee and a donut.
