Yummy Hong Kong style food. Tried & loved Salt & pepper pork chop. The meat was tender & perfectly cooked.
Tried the eggs with shrimp and it was very tasty. The shrimp is the regular frozen kind so it is not super fresh but it was fine. The portions were huge and the seasoning was done nicely. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. The ordering system is with a QR code and they have a 30 dollar min for credit cards.
My first time at Local Cafe I randomly chose the Hainan Chicken. The chicken is yellow, cold and cut in a boney way. I didn't like it but it was so strange that I knew it must be some famous dish or style. I'm glad I came back and my favorite dish right now is the shredded chicken.
One of my favorite authentic Hong Kong food restaurants. Service is fast and efficient. Food is authentic. Also easy to order online for takeouts. Glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood!
I was looking for something nearby, and saw this restaurant on Google Maps. The reviews seemed so mixed, but I thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did. I found the staff to be friendly and prompt, and ordered some Hot and Sour Soup and Kung Pow Chicken. Both were tasty and exactly what I was looking for. The prices were great. Definitely will be back!
Happy to found this place. Authentic Hong Kong style cafe, they made the food exactly how it should taste in the street of HK. I ordered the pork belly and with rice. They made it with sauce and fried tofu. The ice HK style milk tea is much better than those boba places that charges more than $6 a cup. If you want to get a taste of the good eats of HK this is the place to go!
Local Cafe is one of the best HK-style cafes I’ve ever been to. It’s right up there with G & Y Bakery & Cafe in SF. We loved the spare ribs chow fun and the baked chicken with two kinds of sauce over rice. I can’t way to go back for their salt and pepper dishes.

Classic Hong Kong style cafe, order on your phone via QR code or with the waiter. Not obvious based off signage outside the restaurant but a great find! They have lunch specials which include tea

What can I say, it's yummy, comfort Hong Kong food.
The waitress are nice. The beef gravy noodle and hk milk tea are good. The wonton is only ok. Kind of dry and dense. They have a promo now each $10 spent will have a token for the crawl machine. But it’s hard to get anything.
Hong Kong style restaurant 14-15 dollar for a lunch set (hot drink + main) good deal! Baked chicken and pork chop with cream and tomato sauce : Huge portion Salt and Pepper Pork Chop rice :so far so good Beef chow fun : love it very much (有鑊氣wor hei!) portion and taste of food has been improved greatly keep it up! 5% off if settle the bill with cash
Local Cafe is a Chinese cafe on Hollenbeck in Cupertino. Authentic, central, and tasty. The service of Local Cafe was subpar the servers were not attentive at all and there was no polite conversation or any smiles which made annoyed the ambiance of Local Cafe was nice with lots of seating and a cool orange vibe with lots of posters on the wall. The food of Local Cafe was BOMBB. We got the YangZhou Fried Rice which was fried rice with ham and shrimp. We also got the Three Combo Meat Stir Fried Rice Stick Noodle. I don’t know why the name is so long, but it was a delicious dish! The fried rice had loads of shrimp and ham in it. Both dishes were a little greasy but they were still both delicious. They both had loads of meat. They were also very fresh and hot. The fried rice had some veggies and scrambled eggs mixed in and the rice was very loose making the dish even tastier. The noodles were very tiny and there was t an overwhelming amount of cabbage and onions like usual with noodle dishes. The ham tasted like Spam and was very savory and it complimented the subtle shrimp very well. Overall, although Local Cafe did not have adequate service it still had a nice ambiance and very tasty food. I would definitely come to Local Cafe for a quick fix and for some cheap food. For its affordability and tasty dishes I recommend Local Cafe to others!
$98 fed 10 people - good deal! Food was tasty as well, pretty authentic Hong Kong style. We ordered wonton noodle soup, 1/2 chicken, sweet and sour chicken, local pan fried noodle, a vegetable dish, chow fun with Malaysian sauce (not spicy enough though), salty fish and chicken fried rice, and desserts. Will go back for authentic local eats!
You may experience a short line during weekend lunch, they had implemented self-service ordering and paying by QR code. Servers were busy but attentive. Stir-fried spaghettini with beef, sandwich (came with 4 pieces and fries), and Complimentary soup tasted good. Baked chicken rice “焗饭” can use some more sauce. All dishes we ordered were in fairly large portion.
I had ordered once in Feb the pork was sour. But today good experience when dine in. Got free hot tea and lunch special which is the good baked rice plate in picture and the authentic Hongkong milk tea!!! $15 lunch and 95% in app or cash!
Loved the fried rice and BBQ pork. The dishes are also tasty and go well with rice. The portion is huge - we made the mistake of ordering too much.

This restaurant seems to be only one serving “egg drop soup” that I was looking for. The soup was with chicken and and corn and it was tasty. Chow fun chicken noodles were good too. Portions are family style and big.

The food is not bad as a Hong Kong style cafe with lots of varieties. I ordered the traditional baked rice and french toast which came out okay. The baked rice was a bit bland with pepper sauce and the rice wasn't coated enough with the egg. I would recommend this place if you want to see what hk cafe is about and have a baseline of bare minimum.
Hong Kong style restaurant with a very diverse menu. Lots of items you won't find at the typical Chinese restaurant.
This is the first Hong Kong style Char Charn Tang (tea restaurant) I visited when I moved to the Bay area. It used to have a Chinese name identical to one of the most popular Hong Kong fast food restaurants. It changed ownership and name several years ago but the restaurant has not changed much. The food quality certainly cannot match that in Hong Kong but it is adequate. Because of the price and convenience I visit this restaurant often despite the average food quality. The service is generally good as an average Char Charn Tang. My family usually orders broccoli beef rice, beef spaghetti, 滑蛋蝦仁飯,and 牛腩湯河粉。It’s seldom crowded while other restaurants in the same mall have long wait line. If less wait with average food quality and a long menu for Hong Kong style food, this is the right place for you.
Beef chow fun was pretty good. Salt & pepper tofu, and salt and pepper chicken wings tasted unseasoned like there wasn't much salt on it. Green onion chicken over rice was just okay. Rice was dry. Not much meat on the chicken pieces I was given.
Your average stop for hearty Chinese food. They have a good deal. If you come between 5 and 9 pm any day, three items will cost just ~$26 The best item during my visit was the Potato & chicken hotpot. It's worth going back for. The customer service is great. We had a slight problem with one of our dishes, and they replaced the whole thing.
12/26/2023 It's been a while since I came back. I didn't like some of the dishes so I stopped coming. However, things have improved. 蝦醬牛鬆炒飯 - 牛鬆means minced beef. Not here. They cut into very small pieces so the texture is very different. Also lack of shrimp paste flavor. They need to at least double it to make it taste stronger. 鐵板黑椒餐肉公仔麵 - The noodle is a little bit soggy. Also prefer to have more black pepper flavor. 焗豬扒飯 - This one was the surprised because I gave up on them long ago cause they refused to battered the pork chop to make it pork cutlet before. Surprisingly, this time regular baked pork chop over rice is with fried pork cutlet. That makes a big difference. The tomato sauce ain't bad neither. With a little improvement, this can be a go to HK style restaurant at least for those who likes the above dishes.
A great place to satisfy cravings for HK food, but it has gone down in quality throughout the years. My favorite thing to get here used to be the super baked pork chop rice, which came with a hot dog and egg. When I came most recently, it tasted lackluster and the pork chop was a bit tough. The shrimp and egg noodles were still delicious as I remembered, but the shrimp wasn't as good as before. I also ordered the salt and pepper tofu and that was definitely as good as always. You can't go wrong getting staple Chinese dishes here, as evidenced by the ample takeout orders I saw throughout my meal. :) Parking is easy on weekdays until peak dinner time, then it's a minefield of bad drivers making bad decisions...
Ordered uber eats and literally got a half order of food for the fried rice order. Also ordered the pork porridge and it was lacking flavor which likely means the porridge was cooked not with a broth as the base.
Food here is very good. Got the baked pork and tomato over rice and the baked chicken with white sauce over rice. Cheap and comes with a drink during happy hour. The pork tomato was definitely better, highly recommend, but the chicken was also good. Service could have been slightly better though. Recommend this place for a late night food run.

Food was actually good, but not sure worth 43.99. They have dinner special (order 3 dishes for 43.99) but they add 2 dollar for rice, so 45.99. You can order only 2 dishes but they dont give the price ( unless you have phone to scan QR code). The chicken with string bean was the best (very good flavour- garlic? & Onion) but could have used a little more string bean as Dad ate all the string beans leaving me with only Onion & Chicken ( so they were a little cheap on the beans or running out of String Bean? The Chinese Chives & Pork had very little Pork. It was good but like I said, very little pork and tons and tons of Chinese Chives which is very tough to chew. It is difficult to eat with so much Chinese Chives which is the toughest thing to chew. The dish would have been better with more pork, less Chives and maybe throw in regular yellow Onion so you can chew the dish. Dad changed his mind ( original he order 2 dishes) but he wanted to take advantage of the 3 dishes for 43.99 ( which honestly is not really worth it unless you are super hungry as you only save about 2 dollars ( not sure, need our phone next time to check price as all menus dont have price). So the last dish was Shrimp with Egg which had tons of Egg & Shrimp but honestly flavour was average ( it would have taste better with tomato). I would give the food 4 stars if they were not so stingy with the string beans. The service was average. The guy did welcome us but that is all that he did. He did give tea but only tiny cup of tea ( no pot) and forgot to refill. It might be worth the 45.99 if they refill the tea or give more rice but I think they charge 2 dollar per bowl of rice (you can ask). The girl ignored us & we could not get the guys attention till near the end. The girl finally came & took our order ( she was friendly but ignored in the beginning). It was real hard to get someone to refill the tea, or take our order, or just give us to go containers. Dont expect too much service when you go when they are busy. Make sure to bring phone so you can order yourself with no help ( and the menu does not tell you prices unless you have phone to scan QR). By the end of the meal, I was wishing that Dad & I went to Sizzler. I mean, the food was good but stingy with veggies unless they happen to have tons of Chinese Chives which is ridiculously hard to chew. And if you know how to speak Chinese, it is easier to ask questions as they dont speak English. The reason I mention Sizzler is that Sizzler has all you can eat Veggie or Salad buffet plus you can order Chicken Sandwich...in general Sizzler has more protein, more value. I finish my review. The following are notes to myself only: Menu no price but tons of variety of Fried Rices & tons or variety of Chow Mein. Maybe try Tomato Egg next time but have no idea how much it cost. I dont know if I want to come back, as Dad is gonna spend 43.99 when we only need 2 dishes & I can make half the stuff at home as I make good fried rice. Dad usually tip 18 percent but there was hardly any service so when he went to washroom & I took the check to the counter, I only tip them 4 dollars which im sure they might have been pissed but they pretty much ignore us the whole meal and we originally wanted 2 dishes which should not cost more than 30 dollars since they were stingy on String bean ( on one dish) & stingy on pork on the dish that had Chives that were impossible to chew. Make sure to bring Phone next time to know prices.
I was hoping to enjoy some good Cantonese food at Local Cafe, but it just didn’t work out. The curry sauce was watery and had almost no taste at all. The beef brisket was tough and lacked real flavor. The table and utensils wasn’t very clean. Overall, not the worst place ever, but I wouldn’t recommend it or come back again.

The utensil stings, as very strong smell, food is OK. The staff is extremely rude. First you order your own food and which they don’t provide you any service, after finish your food, you have to walk up the counter to make payment yourself, they print our receipt with a tip line, which i am surprise they even ask for tips, i put 12% which i think it is fair honestly i dont think they deserve. and the staff said “Is she new here?” behind my back, these people they are so entitled.

Be careful when you are ordering dishes. I had been a regular ordering once a month. The crispy noodles was my favorite. Last month I ordered their Hainan Chicken to go. Come home to realize it was 4 small bone filled pieces. I call to say I payed more than $18. They were rude and said that is what it is. Never will I go back for bad service.
I really hope allows 0 starts let me get it straight, i went to this place regularly. ok food and super cheap price. But i just had my worst dining experience ever! i ordered one wonton noodle soup. in one of the wonton there's this super thick and long steel wire in there!!!!! the wire is so thick that you can almost called it a stick! given the size of the wonton i seriously think that the wire is deliberately put in the wonton (because i really don't think you can put such a big one by accident!) then we ask the sever to come and check it. no body even says sorry! and they still expect us to pay the meal!!!!!!!!! people just for you health and life please stay away from this place, i'm not joking! think back to this experience it still scares me and made me wanna throw up!
dirty and unprofessional I ordered a take out. At pick up, I realized there were no utensils, so i asked for some. The cashier spent some time finishing up some work at the cash register. Then he used his bare hands (no washing or cleaning) to grab some forks and put them in my bad. And he didn't even grab them by the handles, he grabbed the pointy ends! The parts I was supposed to put in my mouth. Did that right after working at the cash register. If this is what they do in front of customers, can you imagine what they do when you are not watching?! This blatantly gross behavior was just too appalling. Needless to say, I will not return. btw food was average at best.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food took a very long time to arrive, and when it finally did, the quality was terrible. Everything tasted bad and felt poorly prepared. The drinks were the worst part — about 80% of the drink was just water with barely any flavor. I definitely would not recommend this place
Food was ok when you are hungry, nothing delicious in specific. The angry Asian woman threw the receipt with the tipping options and I just wanted to laugh. No service at all, food wasn’t exceptional, how dare you ask your customers for 15% 20% or 30% of the whole bill as your tip? It is quite pathetic.
My takeout container had a thick layer of dust on top. Combined with the steam from the hot food it was very gross. The food was okay (pork chop with onion sauce). It didn’t have much flavor but it was more or less what I was expecting. I chose pasta as a side expecting it to come in some sort of sauce, but it came plain. I don’t even think it was salted. Decent portion for $22, all things considered. There were 3 slabs of meat swimming in the sauce. Next time I feel like eating some HK style food I think I will cook it myself.
