The original Aw Shucks how can you not love it❤️? The only thing is the parking. If you go there during the peak time, you gotta expect circling around in the alley trying to find a parking spot for ten twenty minutes😅. And don't be shy standing by people's tables waiting for people to finish eating.
First time in a long time and had forgotten how good it is! Lunch special can't be beat.
Their fried catfish is light and crispy-- great crust. It's never greasy and very delicious. The fries are the nice plank size pieces. Their shrimp cocktail is a generous portion. I love this place.
Always have to stop when I'm in the area. I love big shucks but the atmosphere at aw shucks on Greenville Ave. Is nice. I usually stick with shrimp cocktail and crabcakes when I go, but got the boiled shrimp and it was really good! Highly recommend aw shucks or big shucks, food is amazing
Best for so many reasons. Name a reason: I'll cover it. Every menu item...delicious and well-priced.
You know the food is good when people fight for parking, stand in line to give their orders, eat outside just next to a busy roadway, with people stepping out the door of the restaurant to yell out orders, and having to either fight traffic or pay the valet to get back to your car. Atmosphere and service are equally outstanding 👏
I returned to Aw Shucks expecting the same great experience, but this visit felt different. While the food was good, the manager’s tone toward staff came across as sharp and uncomfortable. Leadership sets the tone, and it noticeably affected the overall atmosphere. I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
I can't believe I grew up in DFW and haven't been here before. IT WAS AWESOME. So much food for a modest cost. Between three of us we shared three catfish tacos (lunch special), 10 hush puppies (some of the best I've ever had), a basket of calamari, and spicy shrimp. Take apart the shrimp slowly though because I broke it apart quickly and juice sprayed onto my clothes (admittedly it was funny). We sat outside in the deck and it didn't even feel like we were in Dallas - it felt like we were just somewhere off the coast. Come with an appetite and put your napkins on your lap or wear a bib if you're not ashamed (haha)!
I have to start by saying my family has been coming to this local treasure for over 30 years and I grew up eating this stuff. This place is a dump in that it's a dirty hole in the wall and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Such a great vibe!!! The staff changes all the time but most of them are super nice and very helpful. Eating here in the summer can be really hard since you have to eat outside, however the side can hold maybe 8 people if you don't mind sitting at a counter on a stool. Aside from aw shucks not being an elegant seafood restaurant, the food is great!! I always get the shrimp basket and when it's available the halibut is amazing. It can be pricey at times but for the most part I think it's reasonable. This is definitely my favorite place to get seafood, an absolute must try!!
Amazing food! Enjoyed th3 catfish and fried shrimp! Michalad was pretty good too and you make your own cocktail sauce fresh omg so good! And the guy who helped us was very friendly and took the time to show me how to make the tarter sauce idk what his name was but he's the guy holding the fish on the picture on the wall
I always love coming here. Highly recommended. If you like crab but just want it steamed or with garlic power only, tell them that when you order. Otherwise they will put a spicy chili powder seasoning on the crab. The cevechie is also really good. Had a strawberry mango margarita for the first time here and it was delicious
I’ve been coming here since a kid and it’s always been great. Just recently, I ordered a pick up order in the system, glitched and forgot my meal. When I went back to pick up my food, there was no hassle, and they even gave me a free piece of pie. Try it out if you haven’t because it’s a great spot!
We consistently experience exceptional service. The busser's amiable disposition and diligent work ethic are particularly commendable.
This place has always been one of my favorites. The staff is always fast and friendly. If you like seafood and you like to people watch, this is the place to visit. It isn't very big. The inside is super small but there is adequate seating outside which is covered. The food choices vary from fried seafood baskets which includes a combination of seafood if selected and French fries. They have an honor system. You order your food at a register; eat your food, there will be no ticket given to you by a server. When you are done with your meal, you go to the register near the exit and tell the cashier with you ordered. Talk about trust-please don't cheat the server. The cost is kept down because people are usually honest about their complete order. If you are not into fried foods, there is gumbo and boiled combinations to suit your taste buds. This is a must try place if you are looking for some good seafood. Get there early because finding a parking space close can be a problem on weekends around lunch time.
Their Po' Boy Catfish sandwich was real delightful! Hush Puppies were amazing! Good Job! 👏🏽
Always a good place to get together, my sister that lives in Florida loves coming back. Not many places in Florida serve ceviche Mexican shrimp cocktails etc. Like this place..
The food here is even better than I remember. The snow crab legs were sensational. I also had a cup of the clam chowder and it was great! Hush puppies are so good! I think they are made with cornbread mix! So they are not dry and gooey in the middle! The service is friendly and FAST! Best seafood in Dallas!
I found this gem by way of Google magic and we went for lunch. The parking is super slim. Good thing we got there before they opened and were the first to the plate lol. It was pretty chilly outside therefore it was on the covered patio. But nothing a few beers, good company, and FANTASTIC food couldn’t fix! I’m not really sure what you guys put in that butter and crawfish boil (lemon/lime?) but it’s like crack. Everything was delicious. The calamari wasn’t overcooked or over breaded. The crab was coming out in perfect chunks. After 2 hours and too much money we decided we were grateful we live an hour away but, we will most definitely be back soon. Thank you!!!!!
This place is awesome, definately bringing family here next time! Staff were very friendly :)! For happy hour we got 2 dozen raw oysters (fresh) and 2 orders of buffalo hot wings (super saucy and good) for a GREAT price. There is a small condiment bar with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemons, etc. for the oysters. We also got the shrimp cocktail with spicy level but it was more sweet than spicy but still tasty. Fries were nice and crisp. Rice and veggies were good after I added some cholula. The slice of key lime pie was HUGE, delicious, and tasted like a mix of ice cream and cheesecake with hint of keylime. Free parking lot too!
Been coming here since 1996 with my uncles. Beto the cook always greeted us with a smile and always gave us an extra hush puppy just cause he knew we loved them. Great memories.
Truly amazing find just north of downtown. Love the fried seafood options available. The concept is fast and efficient. Order at the counter and have a seat. Great menu choices like fried oysters, fried fish, crawfish in season, and all the accoutrement you would expect with this type of menu. Also have a concise but adequate Bar menu for those that want beer, frozen margaritas and a few other choices. Is adequate given the turnover of customers, meaning it's a rather quick experience. The place is clean and friendly enough, while focused on throughput. Worth the visit!
Second time here and the food is much better than Big Shucks. Even though they have a similar menú, the food here tastes much better and they always have excellent customer service
I had eaten at one of the other locations so I was a little surprised but dont let looks matter, clean and small inside with ample seating outside. Service was prompt and helpful, we had raw oysters, clam chowder which was loaded with goodies and snow crab, the butter had a bit of bite which was nice and the beers were ice cold
Okay, friends. A real jewel. Cold boiled shrimp. Perfect texture. Make your own cocktail sauce with fresh, ground horseradish. Fried oysters cooked exactly no more than required to crisp the fine corn dredge and keep a nearly raw inside. Experienced artists on the line, here. Go with the beer.
This place is great any day to have seafood. It's very affordable and fast service, staff are helpful. A great place to eat casual dinning outside patio or inside with AC. They do service alcohol and basic wine. I order a beer, grilled salmon with veggies and rice. Also crawfish for appetizers. It's delicious!! I order different dish Everytime I wanted to try all the different dish. The place can be loud if it's crowed but with a nice weather it's great for seafood! You can Togo too! 😋❤️
Me and wife went by Sunday for drinks. The shucks boil and fried catfish, everything was cooked to perfection. Our server Jeanette was great. Best service. She’s Quick and polite. Overall she gave us a great experience. We’ll be back soon!
No frills place, just fresh oysters, you peel-em shrimp served Texas Gulf Coast Style. Order at counter with beverage of your choice and they deliver it to your table. They have other seafood and fish there as well, but to me it's all about the oysters on halve-shell and shrimp 12 oysters 12 shrimp 1 pitcher of beer $60 = 2 Happy People
We drove an hour from Fort Worth to visit. The service was great, and so was the food and cleanliness of the establishment. The young man at the counter suggested a mango chamoy margarita drink that was absolutely delicious! It's hard to find quality seafood and oyster bar in FW with good drinks and affordable prices, so I will definitely be back to visit.
Good food I’ve been going here since I was a little kid over two decades, and it started becoming a family tradition Great service the atmosphere could be a little bit better, but it is good overall
Just had one of the best fried shrimp po boys of my life, wish I had taken a picture. The soup options and fried calamari basket were also delicious. The restaurant is very clean and has a great vibe for lunch.
The service here is 10/10, the staff was so friendly and kind! From the moment we walked in they were very helpful and made you feel right at home. We also loved the seating set up, order your food at the counter and have a seat, very cozy. All of our food was excellent! The seafood boil was delicious, and buffalo chicken sandwich was fire. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Very good experience here great Mariscos Soup has some of the freshest Oysters in town. And their combo Platter wash 100% worth. I highly recommend it if your looking for a quick fresh bite seafood in lower Greenville village
This place is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Do not judge a book by its cover, it may be small but it is clean and beyond delicious. There is a reason it’s always busy, the crab boil is 10/10 and the beer is ice cold. Pricing is unbeatable and the quality of seafood is impressive. I would recommend this place highly to anyone who enjoys a great spicy crab boil and a pitcher of beer. Will be coming for years to come!
This place holds so many memories for our family! I’ve been bringing my parents here for over 25 years. It’s always a special treat for us to come together. I remember when the register was out on the patio and payment was made after you ate, with an honor system. We were always so impressed with that. The food is consistently good and has the taste that we always expect. I can confidently say that everything on the menu is good. One nice thing that they have started doing is bringing out some complementary hush puppies for the table. That is a very nice touch. The service is great and it just has the best vibes.
The atmosphere is so much fun! We didn’t want to leave. It’s like sitting on a dock. We went for happy hour before catching a flight back home. It was nice to see other patrons, it felt more lively compared to surrounding hospitality groups. The shrimp K Bob was good and so was the cold boiled shrimp. I enjoyed making my own cocktail sauce. Wish we would have found this place sooner. I want to come back to try the catfish. This was one of my favorite places we visited while in Dallas
I love stopping by Aw Shucks on Greenville Avenue. It’s got that laid-back, beachy vibe without the sand. The seafood is always fresh—whether I’m digging into a spicy crawfish boil, enjoying a chilled shrimp cocktail, or savoring the crispy fried catfish. The outdoor seating is perfect for people-watching, and the happy hour specials make it even better. It’s my go-to for a casual, satisfying seafood meal.
I loved everything, from the quality of the oysters and the shrimp cocktail to the prices. When I went... they were having a special offer that I took advantage of twice. I'll definitely be back more than I expected. I ordered at the register and they brought my order to my table. A girl named Denia was very attentive at the table. Everything was great.
Absolutely love their happy hour specials. Their calamari, fried shrimp, margaritas, and shrimp cocktail are so good! Only thing I was uneasy of were the oysters. I felt their presentation didn’t seem so clean which made me question eating them but my partner said it was okay. Luckily we didn’t get sick. You can see the murkiness on the edge of the oyster shell in the picture.
Why haven't I known about this place?! Went on a weekday night so minimal crowd but definitely some people traffic. You can dine in or take out. Seating is outside patio, not much seating inside but there is a protective barrier that can be lowered outside. The night was lovely with a little breeze. Everything was so good! Wanted to get a feel for the place so we tried several dishes. Great happy hour deals on food and drinks. Service was fast and the food taste fresh. Definitely found a new spot!!!
Love coming here so de moving in the area. Danielle is the nicest funniest most welcoming person who happens to be the manager I’ve ever met! Each time we walk in the whole staff is so friendly and welcoming that I feel so happy to walk in because they all make me feel like I’m apart of the crew and family. There happy hour if 2$ Rita’s Monday along with happy hour bites are the best! They have a crab bisque right now that is so so good and they make it daily! Highly recommend in these cooler months, I highly suggest this location. We’ve brought new friends each time for a catch up and Rita and each time they themselves are blown away by the hospitality and food. Don’t pass on this gem of lower Greenville!
Came here in July and completely forgot to post my review after finding the pictures in my camera roll. I remember how good the catfish was. It was very well seasoned. The restaurant itself has a great aesthetic. It gives very much seafood restaurant on the side of the beach. Service staff were nice as well.
Been coming to this location for years! Have also been to the one in Lewisville they are both great . The service is great you order inside and they bring the food to the table , and someone is constantly coming by asking if you need anything . They make the best micheladas! Taste as it should . One of our favorite is the cocktail Shrimp also the ceviche I highly recommend those 2 items . I’ve also had the gumbo it’s good and other times I’ve had the baskets combos those are pretty good deals too. My kids love the shrimp boil for them is perfect because it’s not spicy and not to many seasonings I personally don’t like it (acceptable it’s not everyones cup of tea , Don’t expect it to be with a lot of seasonings or sauces that’s not the case for this restaurant) But my boys do enjoy it they are (10,8 years ) that’s what they always order . Also the caldo is súper delicious.

Perfect fresh and deep fried seafood with a draft beer after a hot day at reasonable price
Food is Good! Staff is Great! happy hour prices are unbelievable! Not to be missed check them out you won't be sorry
Good food if you plan to eat inside, but don't order the whole catfish for take out, I only live a mile down the road it was soggy, and the onion rings were too. This is the second time within two months that I had bad take out from them. They can get very crowded and sometimes you may have a problem finding a parking space. Also the bathroom is located outside. And is very cold in the winter. I will add that they do have the best shrimp cocktail and fried shrimp in town!
Been coming here for years. Always good. And good pricing
This place, wow 👌. I recommend you coming here if you want some good seafood at a great price. It's a little tight on the parking but its good. The place is a little small we sate inside because it was super hot that day. Wasn't any cooler but it sure did beat the outside heat. I recommend the shrimp Cocktail and mild or spicy they are both good and have a awesome flavor 4 out 5. The ceviche is also a good 4 out 5, i would have liked more of they had habanero sauce or sauce more latino, thats just me. Also fried catfish wow that was a 5 out of 5 had to try a kids meal just to test it out. Its fresh and oh my the fries, the hushpuppies yum it was all good 5 out of 5. Friendly service, the prices are great yes its a must.

We've been here before, and it was great, but something has changed and not for the better. My boyfriend got the ried catfish and shrimp basket, which comes with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp was good, but the catfish was undercooked. They have changed the coleslaw. It's so finely shredded that it was almost pureed. I had the grilled tilapia that comes with rice and grilled veggies. The fish and rice were okay but the veggies were closer to raw and the portion was tiny....3 pieces of broccoli and some diced onions and peppers. This place used to be good. Proceed with caution.
We frequent big shucks and this time we decided to try aw shucks since we are in the area. I believe they are franchise? Anyways, the presentation and quality is definitely not as good as big shucks. The oysters looked and tasted dirty . The shrimp cocktails have no flavor (missing that “kick”) unlike the ones we have at other locations.
Their Shrimp cocktail was delish! It had avocados & cilantro with a nice tomato sauce etc... However, the Gumbo was too salty and lacked the main signature ingredients of a gumbo like okra.. Was just some shrimp and rice basically!Smh
I really wanted to like this place more but I just couldnt😢😣...smh! Most of it had to do with my expectation of it being like the "Aw Shucks " that i was use to in Florida. Now they are PHENOMENAL!!!!! I really believe it may be apart of a different franchise but the food at this Dallas location is TOTALLY different!!! The dish i got lacked ALOT of seasoning but maybe they had a bad day OR that i just got the wrong thing..lol!! I must say that my husband's tacos we're pretty tasty and I believe they maybe known for their Seafood platters here because the crawfish looked amazing and smelled just as good.
Placed an order online for pickup. When I arrived, there were 4 individuals standing at the counter with 1 helping a customer ahead of me. I did get a smile from one of the individuals; however, no one greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. Finally, I was able to get attention and stated that I placed an order online. Someone walked from behind the counter and grab my order which was behind me. Had there been clear signage, maybe I would have known that the pickup orders were sitting on a ledge just behind me the entire time. Ordered two of the 2-pieces catfish combos which included French fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. The catfish was fried well, but had absolutely no seasoning and was completely flavorless. The French fries and hush puppies were undercooked. And the coleslaw had way too much liquid.
Sadly not the Aww Shucks we fell in love with many, many, many years ago. The quality of food is not the same. The portion sizes have become noticeably smaller and the level of customer service has dropped. Today we ordered a two piece catfish basket with four pieces of shrimp. The filets were very small and the fries were old and have been sitting in oil for sometime. We also ordered a side of corn with the request to have the corn served with the meal. We made this request as they have the tendency to serve the corn way before the meal is ready. The side of corn was not ready when the meal was and after about 15mins of receiving the meal we asked about the corn and the woman at the register was extremely rude and told us to get to the end of the line. This unfortunately has been the norm lately with this business. As much as we once loved this place we can no longer recommend them beyond the margaritas.
They have really nice happy hour specials for both fresh and fried seafood. My boyfriend said the oysters were hit and miss, but they were huge. The hush puppies were really good and complimentary …
Food was still good, happy hour prices gone up over 120% in the last 2 months for the margaritas. The Hispanic young lady taking the orders was rude as he'll to the patrons before me. Made me not even want to order. I did and someone in my party had an issue with her. She barged out staring something wasn't paid for (although it was) and when we confirmed it was she didn't even acknowledge her mistake. Been coming here many years but I'll have to reconsider next time. There's definitely a change going on
Fried fish is over cooked.small portions, and do not order to go. Then they really short change you.. it use to be my favorite place to go in dallas for catfish
I went yesterday for the first time I walk in and I’m lost the cashier and cooks just looking into space not even in a good mood this whole place is bad I’m never going back the Hispanic short cook was rude when I said hello sir! He’s old and bitter the girl wasn’t even worried about me and let the receipt hang without tearing and ripping it off they should change the staff asap
The food was good at the time I ate it. I got sick from eating the raw oysters here about 2 hours later. Definitely a different experience and horrible feeling. The pain is unexplainable. Be sure to eat cooked or steamed oysters only. Raw can be fatal‼️
I went here yesterday and ordered 2 pounds of crab, a whole catfish to go and a mango margarita. I spent 107 dollars and that’s not the problem. I go to eat my to go order from yesterday and it’s missing the hush puppies that normally come with the order. Remind you, I was with another person yesterday and they got the whole catfish as well. To my surprise, I saw that he had a big bag of hush puppies because normally they just give two. So today I talk to Zamora the manager on duty, she tells me they don’t give hush puppies to go anymore. Huh!!!!!!! So I say to her, you guys are giving out five hush puppies to people that’s eating here and not giving hush puppies to the same order to go. This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard . Please help this make sense to me!!!!??? Businesses are starting to become ridiculous!!!!!
First timer and was excited about dining here. Born and raised in Houston Texas so I love gulf seafood anytime I can get it. Ordered 2 items from the menu. Shrimp cocktail and a dozen oysters on the half shell. Not just disappointing but sickening. Those baby shrimp you're using in the cocktail are one step up from the baby shrimp you buy in a can. Weak. I could immediately tell that I was not eating gulf oysters as well. As a matter of fact I was 4 oysters in when I realized that the taste was way off on them. 4.5hrs later I began to get nauseous the sweats and then cold sweats. It wasnt full blown food poisoning but I felt horrible for a solid 24hrs. Several types of birds commandeering the outdoor patio tables and flys everywhere. Tidal wave of disappointment . Won't do it again.
We came here on Sunday night. When we got our food, we realized it was really spicy. One person in our group went back inside and heard the staff say that they made ours extra spicy so they (us) would remember the restaurant. I am appalled they would ruin a customers dinning experience. People that malicious should not work at restaurants. There was nothing done to make things right either when we called them out. My reviews are consistent - good food, good service, solid reviews. This was not. Eat here at your own risk.
We went on Sunday around 12:30pm. My husband enjoys gumbo, so he ordered a bowl. When I brought it to the table, it was not even hot, maybe lukewarm and it had a few tasteless shrimp on top. We ordered a seafood boil, with shrimp, potatoes, crab and corn, sausage. It was tasteless too. No spices, just butter. I mixed some horseradish, lemon, salt pepper and hot sauce from the table just to give it a bit of flavor. Paid almost $100 for 1 beer, tasteless and lukewarm gumbo and boil. Never again. Very disappointed.
How can you not order crawfish to-go! My wife is in the hospital craving crawfish so I choose this place I get there and you can only get two pounds and you have to eat it there well I couldn’t. Was a complete waist of driving after we called never again!
Worst place for a seafood boil. Reviews looked promising so decided to give it a try. Got the shucks boil, was $60 and got half a dozen raw oysters for $15. The boil had barely any seasoning, just some cayenne on top and a side of butter. Everything was overcooked, shrimp was gummy and corn was mushy. Definitely would not recommend. Go to Nate’s in Addison instead, it’s awesome there! Update: 3/7/24 Woke up to chills, fever, body ache, stomach cramps and fatigue. Pretty sure I got mild food poisoning. Update: 3/8/24 Melissa the GM reached out and I was able to voice my concerns. Thank you Melissa, I appreciate you.
Unnecessarily rude staff. Tried to order Togo after being told I could outside (I have my dog.) I waited about 10 minutes and no one came to take my order so I merely walked to the door (NOT TO GO IN BUT TO GET ATTENTION FROM THE STAFF) all to get yelled at that no dogs are allowed inside. I obviously know that. If they could see me outside with a dog and chose to ignore me for 10+ minutes in 54 degree weather, I don’t think they are worthy of anyone’s money.
