Best tasting BBQ around the Metroplex. I've been to a lot of BBQ joints and Smokey John's tops them all. The seasoning is delicious and unmatched, with southern influence. Oh, and they give you a lot of food for your money. We were 2 adults and we ordered two 2-meat plates, each came with 2 sides. We ended up eating from one plate and barely touched the second. We took the second to-go and that fed two kids. The service was fast, polite, and very friendly. The owner and an employee stopped by to check on us two separate occasions, told us to enjoy the food and got us a to-go bag. I know there are lots of choices, but I highly recommend you give this place a try.

My boss is from the area and wanted to make sure we hit this spot while we were in town. Did. Not. Disa. Point! I got a brisket plate with okra and fries- worth the price. I had 2 of their bbq sauces (the least hot ones; 1 sweet and 1 mild and/or sweet & spicy) for my brisket and both were delicious. I love fries, so I had to see if the seasoning made the cut- it did! The meat was smokey, tender and will give you the itis. The Texas toast was buttered just right. My coworkers both got the catfish and were pleased with their plates as well. Definitely a spot I plan to come to when I return to Dallas. I also loved the eclectic music selections during our dining experience lol. We sang, danced in our seats and I appreciated that I could continue jamming to the current song as I headed out the door- as they have a speaker outside as well! We drove almost 30mins from The Gaylord Resort- WORTH IT!

Great food !!! Had full meal catered. Everyone loved it! Deliveries on time. The guy forgot the barbecue sauce but turns out we didn’t need it. The ribs and brisket was saucy enough. Delish.

This is some good BBQ! I was treated by a friend of mine to a brisket plate with cabbage and macaroni and cheese.. it was so delicious! I’m not sure what was going on with the cabbage but each leaf must have been dipped in butter or something, the seasoning was too good! The brisket was seasoned very well, I didn’t really need the sauce and tender! I didn’t forget about the macaroni and cheese, just the right amount of cheese. I’m a satisfied customer! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

First time at this establishment. The food was amazingly delicious. I had a brisket Plate, Mac n cheese and Collard greens. I felt like I was at my Gma house as a young child again. I also grabbed dessert - banana pudding and peach cobbler. Which was OK, I guess because I got the scrappings from what was left in the pan, nothing but crust.

The owners and all staff were great! Friendly and courteous. The food was absolutely scrumptious! Big portions for a great price. The atmosphere was amazing, super clean, Billy asked us if we needed anything to just let him know, he checked on us periodically and he shared that he loves working here and I can see why because the staff is treated with respect and love. You can taste the love in every bite. There was definitely a party going on in our mouths❣️😂 The owner Brent gave us a tasting since it was our first time dining here. At the end of our meal he came to check on us, I told him that you can feel God’s presence in this place and he shared that they pray for their customers every day before they open the doors. My Hubby and I have finally found our BBQ place from now on this where we will be dining and we’re going to spread the word. Don’t walk run to get your BBQ on!!

My husband and I visited from Wisconsin. I looked at other review photos and saw greens, cabbage, mac and cheese and most importantly, ribs. Everything was perfect and the price wasn't bad. We had ribs that didn't necessarily have 'pull', but was so tender the meat just slid off with every bite. There also was NO vinegar taste which is a major plus for me, but rather a smoked taste. The ribs were just a tiny bit dry, but only a tiny bit and did not alter the taste at all. Mac and cheese-hittin, Greens-hittin, peace cobbler-hittin and all seasoned well. The catfish was not that Swai stuff, or at least didn't taste like it. The cornmeal and breading was seasoned very well and that crunch though👌. The sausage was spiced just enough, not too spicy, no cheese in what I had and the sausage was not dry. The cabbage was so good...no bacon or meat in it, but very good. The greens, not sure what kind, we're seasoned well enough to eat alone and not need extra seasoning. Only thing, the BBQ sauce was a vinegar type sauce or at least tasted like it, but the ribs really didn't need sauce. The only thing I didn't like is the Diet Coke was nasty and not many choices for Diabetic-friendly drinks, except for unsweetened tea. I didn't see any Equal or Splenda, so I didn't grab tea. The atmosphere was very clean and my husband said the men's bathroom was spotless. We were welcomed in by staff who held the door open. Since this was our first time there, we had to ask questions about the dinners and the staff had no problem answering questions. I'd definitely go back and recommend going to see for yourself. We'll be back soon and will more than likely have this on our list of places to go eat at. * When we pulled up the area looked a little sus, but it's actually pretty decent, so don't let that scare you off.

Got off the plane and this place was highly recommended. So we tried it. Staff was super welcoming. Food looked amazing and the place was very cute. The food did not disappoint! Our first few minutes in Dallas was over the top WOW!!!

Me and my wife literally just ate here for the first time. 10/10 across the board, from the freshness of the food, to the customer service. The guy ( I didn’t catch his name) checked on us, made sure we were ok and if we liked the food. We appreciated that so much because you don’t find too much of that now a days which made the experience even greater. We will definitely be back.

10/10 recommend!! Whenever I want some home cooking this is always the spot hands down. Not only do the ribs fall off the bone, but they have such a variety with their specials where you can get your fix of Thanksgiving food and then to their to die for catfish. Even better than actually catfish spots. Been coming here for the past 5 years and will always be a staple in the neighborhood. Plus you are always greeted with smiling faces and feel cared on by the staff. Thank God for Smokey John’s!

Great atmosphere, felt the love from the minute our family walked in, took my daughter in law there for her Birthday Lunch and we all absolutely loved all the food! Try everything and you’ll leave with a full stomach and full heart! The owner stopped by and chatted with us and truly made us feel at home! I live about an hour away, which doesn’t matter!! When it’s this great, I’ll drive 2 hours!! Brisket, Turkey and Sausage were perfect and the Mac N Cheese, Cornbread and Coleslaw should have their own TV show!! Worth every penny and more! Wow this may be the best BBQ I have ever had! The ribs were amazing and the staff a blessing. The owner came to check on us and we visited a bit about being blessed to see a bible verse on the cup . He told us about how his dad wanted to glorify God when starting the restaurant. The owner ended up praying over our group of friends 🥹. Can't wait to come back! We are in San Antonio so glad to be able to get Smokey John's spices and rub in HEB here. 🎉

Dropped bags at the hotel and headed here for catfish, mac and cheese, green beans and banana pudding. My dinner companions were subject to my moans and groans in delight of every bite. O Outstanding quality, care, flavor and love is put into this food. Hands down the best banana pudding I ever had. A must add to my list for any trip back to Dallas.

We looked this BBQ joint up prior to our arrival in Dallas, and it was the first place we went to after we landed. We elected to get the smoked meat plate, which consisted of smoked turkey, ribs, brisket, hot links and smoked sausage. Our sides were collard greens and candied yams. To be honest, I wanted to rate this place as a “3”, but because of the smokey flavor of the meat, I gave it a “4”. The issue was that it tasted like it was cooked earlier and reheated. Although it had great flavor, it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been, had it been fresh. The collard greens were okay (not like the ones in Georgia). The candied yams was probably the best item on the menu. I would revisit this establishment again only if I knew what day and time I could catch them taking the meat right off of the grill…

We had a 3 meat plate and 2 meat plate total was $66.00 with a side of peach cobbler. The sausage, mac and cheese, black eye peas and cornbread was our favorite. The brisket and ribs was dry in our opinion. The price didn't match the serving portions to us. We could have went to our usual spot and saved about 20$ and it would have tasted a lil bit better.

I spent $32.00 on this plate and this was my first time going. I ordered the Smoke plate with green beans as sweet potatoes. I had to wait on the guy to come cut the meat and to taste what sausage I wanted. So it was pretty empty there so after I ordered I went to wash my hands and place my phone and belongings on my table. After I did all that my plate was being bagged up. I get to the table and open my plate the ribs were dry as you can see in the photo and my food is running together and I have baked beans and not green beans. To answer the question you might be asking is why didn’t I take it back? I hate doing that because of the thought someone doing something to my food. This was my first and last time eating at this place. One good thing is the sweet tea was amazing.

This place is over rated. The owners need to give it some TLC quick. I'm a native Dallasite eating bbq for decades. This was very disappointing.
