Opinions de Truly Pizza Dana Point
Truly Pizza is hands down our favorite pizza on the West Coast. The pizza is unbelievably fresh and that says a lot because we have already come back six times and it somehow gets better with every visit. We honestly wish we could eat here every single day. The service is fantastic and always so welcoming which makes the experience even better. The must try pizzas are the sweet and spicy pizza and the champion cheese pizza and you absolutely cannot forget their dill pickle ranch because it is addicting. The garlic bread was also so good and full of flavor. We cannot wait to try more from the menu and keep coming back. Truly Pizza never disappoints.
Came here to celebrate my fiancés birthday, front hostess was great with her communication skills about the wait time. Decided to wait 2 hours for a main room table. Which they got us in within an hour, awesome. Our waitress was phenomenal and informative about the menu. We got the sweet and spicy pizza with a wedge salad. Impressed by both the pizza and salad. The salad was super fresh and the dates were just perfect, their dressing is made in-house, topped with blue cheese crumbs, the ranch alone made me want to come back for more. The pizza was so tasty and crunchy on the crust. Loved how the sweetness and spice complement each other not overwhelming on either part. Was complimented with a free ice cream with olive oil and pistachios crumb, for my fiancés birthday. Very good, never had that combination before. The whole experience was only $48.49. For this classy and tasteful restaurant, thought this was going to be more out of pocket. Even told the waitress was that correct? Our experience here will have us coming back for many more. Thank you all for the lovely night out!
Looking for a delicious pizza experience in Dana Point, check this place out. They offer thick and thin crust, both are delicious. Both crisps on the pizzas are just right. If you're not a fan of thick crust, this may change your mind. The crust is thick and light, with the right crispness so the thickness is not overwhelming. The pizzas are not greasy, so your pepperoni and other toppings won't be drowning in it. Fresh ingredients are used and the combination of flavors are delicious. Other items such as salads, garlic bread and deserts are offered, which are also delicious. Beverages are offered, both alcoholic and non. Best to make reservations, especially going into the weekends. Outside seating only. If you want delicious food, great service and an overall tasty experience, definitely stop in and enjoy, bon appe'tit!
Amazing experience at Truly Pizza! The food quality is outstanding with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked pizzas. My favorite was the Umami Mushroom pizza with vodka sauce — absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The service was friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. Definitely one of the best pizza spots in Dana Point. Highly recommended! 🍕👏
What makes Truly stand out from the rest is their incredible crust, which boasts a unique texture thanks to microblisters that form during fermentation. The result is a perfect balance of crunch and airiness that will keep you coming back for more. We went to great lengths to try their pizza in Dana Point, and with new locations opening in Laguna and Venice, you should run, not walk, to give it a try!
Truly perfection 🍕 Right when you arrive you are greeted by the host(s) and you genuinely feel welcomed. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The ambiance transported us to a quaint Italian village—real lemon trees lining the dining area and faux lemon vines beautifully draped above. Lots of heating elements and blankets for the colder days/nights. Our server Andrew was seriously amazing, checked on us at the perfect time and his knowledge of the pizzas, ingredients and drink pairings (we tried almost every Bubbles and Freeze.) were spot on! We ordered the Seasonal Burrata, Garlic Pull Apart Bread and the Ciccio to start. They were all literal perfection. I can absolutely see why the pull apart sells out, and why the Ciccio is dine in only, it’s more of an appetizer as it REALLY is paper thin but DO NOT sleep on it, the sea salt, dusting of sharp provolone and that crunch cannot be matched. For the pizzas we ordered the La Foresta and the Potato Bianca with added bacon.. trust me on adding the bacon! I cannot stress this enough..seriously ONE OF THE BEST PIZZAS (and starters) I’ve EVER had in my life.. One of the managers Justin also checked in on us which added that special touch to our visit and his wine paring suggestion was a 10/10! This is absolutely going to be our go-to place. Best food. Best people. But let me tell you.. BOOK AHEAD! Believe me when I say it’s worth it.
Truly Pizza in Dana Point was honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The place is beautiful, the atmosphere is great. The pizza is amazing fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth it. This is definitely a must-go spot if you’re in the area. Highly recommend!
Truly Pizza is incredible, and it's by far some of the best pizza I have ever had! They really went all out with this place. The building is amazing. The staff is wonderful, and the decor is fun! But, the pizza... we had 3 pizzas, and I ate as much as I could. I didn't feel gross or bloated after eating this pizza like I normally do! It's an experience. I drove down from Disneyland just for the taste. Worth it! Make reservations!
Our dining experience here was so worth the reservation, money and our time. Tommy was our waiter and he was excellent! He helped us choose what to order based on what we were in the mood for. Yummy pizza, salad and ice cream! He was kind and sweet. We needed up ordering the tomato pie, mamma Mia, the arugula salad, honey wings and pistachio soft serve. We were not mad at any of it!! Honestly, I don’t think anything on the menu wouldn’t be delicious. You can taste the love and quality ingredients in every bite!! If you’re ever in the OC truly pizza is a must try. We can’t wait to go back!!
I absolutely love Truly Pizza and recommend getting the square pizza. The crust delicious and has great crunch to it but it's not overly crunchy. If you're not a fan of thick crust, you also can't go wrong with traditional round pizza. I got the square pepperoni pizza and was 5/5. I would say to bring it up a notch, their dill ranch with the pizza is scrumptious. Overall, the vibes are nice especially near the beach. There can be quite a wait so it's best to call or reserve in advance if you want to dine-in.
Truly Pizza was delicious! We ordered the specials after George recommended them to us. Our server Linda was so kind and helpful, she gave us great service. We felt so welcomed and the food was amazing!!! You need to try this place!
Went to try the world famous Champion Tomato & Cheese pizza. Ordered a Smoky Vodka with Chicken Sausage to have leftovers. The outdoor atmosphere was unique with plenty of warmers. There apparently is an upstairs area to try next time. The cost was affordable for the quality and the bill landed at around $100 for dinner. Reservations are needed and you get 1 hour and 45 minutes for a table of 4. It's good to be aware of the time in respect for the next party and the establishment.

As many already stated, great pizza, appetizers, salads… made from scratch ingredients…we preferred the square pizza crust but both were awesome. You can’t go wrong with anything you choose on the menu. We will definitely be coming back!

This is our second time here. We ordered the wedge again, because you always should order that, wings and 2 pizzas. Champion Tomato, and Sweet Cheeks. I didn't try the Tomato, but I'm talking home a piece to try. The Sweet Cheek has such good balance of flavors. I could use a tiny bit more heat from the honey, but I'm not complaining at all. The wings were perfectly cooked, plump, and juicy. Again, stellar experience here.
30/12/25: We had a great experience and would highly recommend. Although we were initially unable to book by phone and were told the restaurant was fully booked when we walked in, we were added to a reserve list and received a call within the hour — securing a table for us not long after. The service from Taylor was exceptional. She struck the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism — the kind of friendly, genuine hospitality you only encounter every once in a while. A quick tip for future guests: don’t let your eyes be bigger than your stomach! The pizzas are delicious but very filling. We shared a starter alongside one pizza, and it was more than enough to leave all three of us fully satisfied. They say a busy restaurant is the best compliment — and in this case, it’s true. The sheer number of guests speaks to the quality, and the fact that we couldn’t get a table right away says it all
Excellent place with a great atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly and a true person; nothing face about his personality. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family and I will be happy to come back. Be ready to wait for a while if you don’t have a reservation.
We had the best time at this pizza spot. Trent was our server and he was amazing. We can’t remember the exact names of the pizzas, but we ordered a mushroom pizza and a hot and sweet pizza and both were SO good. Can’t wait to come back!
It’s good pizza with very airy crust. The square pizza offers 8 slices while the round pizza offers 6 slices. One thick slice is really full-filling. I would say if you need to wait two hours for this restaurant, nah it’s not worth it. But if you can make reservations, then it’s worth a try. For people that don’t eat the crust, it’s not ur type of pizza. But hey, if you like pizza and appreciate the dough, go for it!
First timer. We really wanted this to live up to the hype! But we left a bit disappointed unfortunately. Greeters were great. We got seated right away at great table. The ambience was fantastic (pictures don’t do it justice). Plenty of heaters to keep people warm during dinner 👍🏼. Our wait staff was great; friendly and attentive despite taking care of lots of tables. Pizza 🍕 was good but not great 😞. Perhaps it was our choices (but we did go with staff recommendations). Lots of dough and not too much flavor. Oh well.
Okay pizza. Over hyped, but not that great. Not too overly priced, but very nice atmosphere and good service. Their square, thick crust pizza is too thick and doughy. Thin crust was good. The pull apart bread was definitely not good. Their lemonade was excelent!
I was impressed with their pizza. We shared the champion one and wow, that crust is amazing!! Soo crispy & crunchy. Good cheese pizza! I also enjoyed the soft serve with olive oil & sea salt. Surprising refreshing and great way to end the meal. Our waitress was good as well. Glad I was able to snag a last min reservation by luck. They are busy!
Ordered the Champion Tomato and Cheese for takeout. I wanted to love this place, but overall I felt the pizza was just "off" in a few places that could have made it spectacular, rather than simply pretty good. Pros: The crust was baked perfectly (very crispy on the outside, with a thin layer of chewy), and I liked the acidity level of the tomato sauce. Cons: The dough for the crust was rather unremarkable; it lacked the really good flavor that separates great pizza from good. Also, the tomato-to cheese ratio was just a bit too much weighted towards the tomato. I really liked the tomato sauce itself, but it needed a bit more cheese to balance the acidity. Also, just FYI even for takeout be sure to plan ahead. The wait time was one hour and 15 minutes for a takeout slot, with phone and internet orders not being accepted due to how busy it was.

We tried the #1 Champion Cheese Pizza since it’s their award-winner and most talked about dish. Honestly, it was good but not life-changing for me. The crust had a nice chew and flavor, and you can tell the dough is well-made, but overall the pizza was just okay. Also the white wine from Pinot Grigio was great pick ... light, refreshing. Service and atmosphere was 10/10
Well I was very sad that the second try to get a pizza and taste it did not work. I was informed by the hostess that you have to make a reservation at least one month in advance to eat in AND there is a two hour wait for take out. We did get lucky with a parking spot in front though. Everyone looked happy sitting down. Sorry I could not review it better. I will try to plan ahead next time we're down there.
I was so excited to finally try Truly Pizza after hearing so many great things. My husband and I arrived around 3:30 PM on a Monday and politely approached the hostess. She told us the main restaurant was full but that we could sit at the bar, saying, “You can sit anywhere at the bar, I’ll follow you with menus.” We actually asked right away if we could sit at one of the small tables by the bar instead, and she said yes — which made me wonder why she didn’t offer that from the start. After we sat down, no one came to us for about 15 minutes. We had no menus, no plate settings, no water, no greeting, nothing. My husband finally went up to the hostess stand to ask for menus himself. Eventually, I spoke with another hostess to ask why we weren’t getting any service and if we were invisible in the corner. She replied, “Even for the bar tables, you need to ask to sit there — you’re not supposed to seat yourself.” That was shocking — she was fully aware that we were there, yet just assumed we were random walk-ins. The whole experience really dampened our mood and excitement to try a new place. We did stay and have our meal, but that first impression left a bad taste. No matter how good the pizzas may be, when the front staff treats guests this way, it reflects poorly on management. I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and work on their hospitality
This was my second time ordering through their website. Very user friendly and easy to navigate. I ordered the squares classic pepperoni. I really wanted to like it but it didn't deliver on taste. I felt it lacked in sauce and cheese. The crust was also tough to get through. I have yet to find a decent square in South OC. Sugo in Costa Mesa, Speek Cheesy in Long Beach and Tribute Pizza in San Diego are a better option IMO. No hate but I feel "social media influencers" came up short on this one. I would give them a try if you're into the aesthetic and people watching. I can't speak on table service since I've only ordered take out but both have been pleasant and the ready times have been fairly accurate. There is no designated parking for the restaurant so depending on the time you go it can ba challenging.
