Opinions de Norm's Place Danville
Best all around restaurant in the area. Our store is close and we eat here all the time. Don't underestimate the food because you assume it's a bar atmosphere that wants to serve cheaper items to passify patrons. The food such as the seared ahi, chicken pot pie, the chicken meal, the shrimp and grits and multiple kids items are really well put together and that is what honestly would surprise most people about Norm's. The sliding door opens up for events next door and there is always sports on. The staff and the owner alike make you feel comfortable and at home. The best part is they always keep up with us as customers and they remember what we eat. It's the little stuff that makes norm's special.
We are not locals and, in fact, Norma Place is a bit out of our way; but still, we make an effort to get there and every time we are within a reasonable distance. We happened to stop in as we drove through Danville one evening and were blown away by how good it was. The food is incredible, the service exemplary, and just a good vibe every time. We haven’t had a dish we didn’t love. Among our top faves are the flatbreads (all of them!) and the coconut shrimp (which are absolutely perfect!).
Great casual place. Menu has a variety of options- burgers, fries, wings, salads and ahi tuna. Ahi Tacos are excellent! Prices are reasonable. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Service is very good- friendly staff! Outdoor patio or indoor dining options.
I recently had the pleasure of hosting the Monte Vista Men's basketball auction at Norm's Place in downtown Danville, and I can confidently say it was a night to remember! We booked their private room, which recently opened and it was a STATEMENT! From the impeccable service to the amazing cuisine, every aspect of our event exceeded my expectations! Gerry, the manager at Norm's Place, deserves special recognition for providing stellar service throughout the evening. His attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our event ran smoothly were truly commendable. Gerry and his team went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. The staff at Norm's Place was nothing short of amazing. Their professionalism and friendliness added to the overall positive atmosphere of the event. It was evident that they were dedicated to ensuring every guest felt welcome and well taken care of. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the buffet, which boasted a mouthwatering array of dishes. The short ribs were tender and flavorful, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the stuffed mushrooms were a delightful surprise. The mashed potatoes and veggies complemented the main courses beautifully, offering a well-rounded and satisfying dining experience. To top it all off, the dessert—fruit à la mode—was a showstopper. The combination of fresh fruit and a luscious ice cream made my taste buds dance with joy. It was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. What impressed me most was the proactive and attentive nature of the Norm's Place staff. We never had to request anything; they anticipated our needs and exceeded our expectations at every turn. This level of service truly set Norm's Place apart. In conclusion, Norm's Place in downtown Danville delivered an exceptional experience for our Monte Vista Men’s basketball auction. From Gerry's outstanding management to the incredible staff and delicious food, every element contributed to making it a night we'll fondly remember. I highly recommend Norm's Place for any event or dining experience—you won't be disappointed!
Wonderful atmosphere, great variety of food from healthy to exceptional bar food. The Ahi Burger is amazing. The beer selection always has your Classics and local favorites and about 8 that are ever-changing, so there's always something new to try. On Wednesdays all lines are half-price, can't beat that. I always bring my wife and my son, wait staff is great. The kid menu is great and it always comes with a kids ice cream at the end, giving Mom and Dad a chance to finish a nice Frosty beverage.
Updating my review Food and people are amazing. Love the twists they do on classic dishes, and the quality of food is more than you'd expect from a diner type spot. Wedge salad with filet steak, homemade chips, wings, and chicken pot pie are my favs, but that doesn't even dent the list of great dishes they have. They're very busy when sports are on, but they've been expanding, and we never have to wait long for a table.
This place is awesome! Amazing customer service. They sat us super quick, made great beer recommendations, food was amazing and had a halarious gentlemen set up the heater for us so we felt incredible taken care of. Andrea and Kelsi are awesome! They made the experience an incredible one, they are a cut above the rest. Must come here!
The food, the BEER, the amazing staff. Where do you start? If I liked this place more you'd think I owned it. Food is amazing. Consistently delicious. The beer, I understand it's great. I had too many to remember. Overall. Like the name says, Norms. Where somebody always knows your name.
Onion rings, burger and fries were super good. Big portions that were enough for two people. Mirror Pond and Mindhaze beers were a little off. But these days, count your blessings. Great customer service. Will be back!
This is a great location for watching sports or meeting friends. The food is excellent, with good service, and a well stocked bar.
Good food, nice seating including outdoors. Smack in the middle of Danville downtown city center -casual and friendly atmosphere for a weekday after-work drinks party. They do have decent vegetarian options as well. So if you are a veggie you won't go hungry.
Always a great place in Danville. Had the Tuna trans-am cheese and bacon with a beer. They have the best fries. Great outside seating love the street seating and added TV's. They have done a great job with covid trying to stay open. It's a 5 stars
Went on a Friday night 6pm. Good food, it's bar food, but good bar food! The live music was bangin. Older crowd, dancin, havin a good time. Love the bigger space. Worth going!!
Family owned, busy, neighborhood eatery and bar. Ride your beach cruiser and catch the Warriors game. Meet the unofficial 'Mayor of Danville' and enjoy your favorite craft brew. Drink a gallon of pomegranate margarita and write your name on the wall. <3 Never change Norm's. ASK FOR MARISA! She's the best <3 <3
THE best place for food and entertainment in the tri valley area!! The best bands every Friday night!! Looking for something to do? This is it!
I really liked my food here, and the beer menu was good too. I had the Pretzel w/ beer cheese, and it was definitely a good pretzel and the cheese had a nice little beer flavor. I also got the Pastrami Sandwich with some Garlic Fries. Pastrami was plentiful and flavorful. Fries were crispy and had solid garlc flavro.
Norms Place offers an array of comfort eats and amazing bar with funky décor and great environment. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We went there for a family lunch and relished Wheat Beer, Iced Tea, Apple Juice, Milk (for kids) for drinks with Pickled Chips (awesome), Pretzel and Nachos Grilled Chicken for Starters. Our main course was Crab Clam Chowder, Fried Shrimp, Ali Poke, Chicken Wings and Kids’ Chicken Tenders & Kids Grilled Cheese. The dishes were well cooked, fresh and delicious. The staff are helpful and great.
Norm's Place is fire. Food is legit. Atmosphere is outstanding and they are even opening up a back patio this week. Some of the highlights: Chicken Wrap, Nachos, Sweet Potato fries and beer selection. If you want a fun quick place to stop in Danville CA. This should be at the top of your list!
Very lively on a Friday night for dinner. Lots of TV's (They don't play the sound...at least for the Warriors game that was on most TV's). Plenty of quality beers. Great bartenders. The Spinach and Artichoke dip is less of a dip and more of a cheesy topped S/A sandwich. Still good. Diablodilla was def. tasty. Recently had the Ahi Fish Tacos for lunch. I highly recommend!
I walked in with my kids at lunch time on a Saturday. It was busy, but we got a seat in a couple minutes. We sat in the "expanded" outdoor seating area, which is basically the parking spots on the road. At first I thought it was a little weird, but quickly forgot about it. My kids both had the corndog plate with fries. The corndog was good, but the fries were great! I had the steak salad, which was a little heavy on the dressing, but overall tasty. The beer selection was good, so I left happy. I'm sure we'll go back soon.
This place was all sorts of wonderful. Great customer service, food was exquisite and venue is really lovely. Will become regulars for sure. The outdoor bar is kinda amazing!!
Just went there for the first time last Friday and loved everything about it. Re-Wind was at the stage and put out a great show. Definitely going back and if you haven’t gone yet you should go!
Food was fresh and tasty. Alfresco was so nice on a winter evening. Service was with a smile 😊
Norm’s Place in Downtown Danville is an absolute gem! My friends Mark and Ben have taken an already beloved local spot and elevated it to the next level. We host our real estate investing meetup, Bay Area Multifamily & More (BAMM), in their private event space, and it has been nothing short of perfect. The space is spacious, well-appointed, and incredibly accommodating. The food and drinks are top-notch, and the service is outstanding—special shoutout to Ben and the manager Gerry for going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for our events. We couldn’t be more excited to continue growing our meetup at Norm’s Place. Whether you’re coming for a meal, drinks, or a special event, this spot truly delivers. Highly recommend!
Went to Norm’s just before 9pm on a Friday for an after dinner drink - immediately greeted and provided a table. Friendly and well run operations (got a drink fast and they will give you a menu!) Lively atmosphere and so glad they have a cider on tap - Guava Cider.

Norm's has become our go-to spot, and it's easy to see why! The food is consistently delicious, with something for everyone, and the service is always friendly and attentive. We love the lively country music that adds to the atmosphere, making every visit enjoyable. Recently, Norm's has introduced fun evening activities, which makes it even more exciting. I can't wait to see what they have planned for the space in the back! Overall, Norm’s is a fantastic place for great food and fun. Highly recommend!
The staff are absolutely amazing people. Food was bomb and the atmosphere was awesome! Definitely going back here again.
I’ve been here several times and each time the food has been great. I’ve had the ahi appetizer twice with a very picky friend - we both loved it…and my husband and I had the carnitas quesadillas and was delicious - good sized portions. The cocktails are great. One of the best dirty martinis I’ve ever had. The service was excellent and I always see a lot of people that I know and like here - a very casual and fun environment. Highly recommend.

This is a great little place in Danville. Indoor and outdoor seating and a great friendly staff. Menu offerings are sufficient to satisfy almost anyone with enough diversity to make it "happen". Food is prepared well and very good. Burgers and fries are really good as well as their other offerings. A place I frequent often over the years and it never fails to deliver "just what I need".
Go for the wings! Best I've found. Great selection of draft beers, other tasty menu items. And when the weather is conducive, great to eat and drink outside and watch the city of Danville stroll by.
Lively, sports oriented, with great beer selection. Needs better wine. But off the bar-grill menu, opt for the turkey Cobb salad. Very good. The beef ribs off the appetizer menu is a steal. Together, they're more than a meal for two and they'll love the vibe.
Went to Norm’s for the 1st time today. Will definitely be coming back. They have a good menu selection for lunch (Don’t know about dinner because I didn’t look). It has a good vibe, full bar, friendly servers and the food tasted great. The server was willing to offer his opinion if asked.Great place to watch sporting events also. If you are looking for good food and a friendly place come by Norm’s. They also have seating out in front of restaurant if you want to enjoy the good weather and also do some people watching.
Good food. Decent price. Great service. The hot sauce however wasn’t even mildly hot. Quite disappointed after they hyped it up so much.
This place has great service. The food was good. The menu has something for everyone. I had the blackened chicken sandwich which came with bacon and avocado. The fries were good too. They have a Thanksgiving style sandwich that comes with gravy for dipping which my friend had and said it good as well. Lots of TV's for sporting events and a stage for live music. Definitely recommend.
Wings were super crunchy and meaty so they were awesome! Appetizer Buffalo Cauliflower was spicy and yummy. Skip the fried shrimp they are the smallest size shrimp in plain batter breading. Not worth it. Asian Lettuce wraps are big and tasty but you have to assemble them yourself. Kids meals comes with ice cream per the menu. We were given a vanilla cup of ice cream with whip cream on top. No options. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Multiple TVs playing sports.
Great atmosphere, vibes, and customer service. The food was good as well but didn't try much from the menu. Ordered a burger and some nachos. I'll have to come back to try more!
Can't beat $1 tacos for Taco Tuesday! The magic happens between 3-5pm. We traveled a good way just to try their tacos, and they actually weren't bad! Definitely not the most authentic, but they were full of meat and flavor. There's ground beef, chicken, and carnitas to choose from. We liked the carnitas the best! Unfortunately, there was a wasp outside that continued bothering us (apparently it's a seasonal thing here), so we moved indoors halfway through our meal. Didn't run into any problems after that! We also got some onion rings ($7) as a side snack, which tasted great with ranch on the side (didn't come with ranch, but we asked for it and they were happy to oblige). Prices for non-taco dishes here seem a bit inflated to me, but the downtown area here does seem bougie and pricey to begin with. Really nice and attentive servers, as well. Thanks for a good time, guys!

Good food and service. Our server took our order correctly and the kitchen messed my salad up...it was still good just not exactly what I ordered. Very noisy inside so we chose to sit outdoors and enjoy the end of summer warm evening.
Always fun Food good. They reserved our table. Ba d was terrific

Came here for dinner recently on a Friday. It was very busy with holiday parties. Ive eaten here before and I think they changed some things on the menu. I had the french dip and didn’t have what I expected from having it over the summer. The meat was over cooked, chewy and tasted old. The clam chowder was very good I wish I had ordered a bowl instead of a cup because I couldn’t finish the sandwich. I felt bad sending it back because it was so busy. I’ll definitely eat here again but Ill order something else.
This is not the Norms it used to be. I’m so sad to see some menu staples gone, like the fried pickles and the Englishman burger. On our recent visit I ordered the Baja salad, one of my previous favorites and my husband ordered the spicy chicken wrap. The salad was fine, definitely smaller than it used to be. My husband said his was wrap was fine but something is just a little off. The food just isn’t what it was for whatever reason. I was also disappointed in the cocktail list. They used to have such fun cocktails and now they are just your standard cocktails you can get anywhere. Not to mention the place was completely empty for a Saturday night. We used to wait upwards of half hour for a table, this time we just walked right in. I’m so disappointed.

The food is okay. They have a wrapped sandwich in a pizza dough that is unique and tasty. But I've had some very marginal items there as well. My main issue is the service. And in particular their service right now. They recently expanded their seating area. But they didn't expand their kitchen. So when we went tonight we were told we had to wait outside with no eta on when we could even put our name in for a seat let alone be seated. That's how overwhelmed they are. Until that is fixed I would avoid.
Came here for burgers and was disappointed. We ordered two burgers medium well, both burgers came in well done. But the kicker was we ordered on the side some jalapenos and were charged $4 for a tiny little cup of jalapenos! And we ordered grilled onions on our burger and we're also charged $4? Please help that make sense? We're talking about a little condiment cup of fresh jalapenos (less than half of a full jalapeno). The fries were okay, nothing special (needed more salt). The burgers we ordered were so charred that every bite was a char flavor. Each burger cost $14 and we grabbed one pitcher of beer. Total bill came out to $70 plus tips!? I don't recommend this spot if you are looking for some delicious food that stands out. Believe me this place isn't the place you're looking for, very bland and mediocre. The waiter did a great job I even told him, "You did a great job but this place nickel and dimes you for everything!" The waiter agreed. Last time we come here. Trust me there are way better places to enjoy nice juicy burger.
I am in shock that I am ethically required to write this review. We have been to “Norm’s Place” many times in the past and have had a great experience. Myself, my husband and my 2 young boys came to the restaurant last week. Our waitress was wonderful! She was very attentive kind, and we really appreciated her service. As she was discussing menu items with us, an older man proceeded to interrupt the conversation and yell at her in front of us, and in front of my children. It was baffling and astounding that we had to witness this interaction. The other tables in our vicinity were also visibly and obviously uncomfortable. After he stormed off, we asked her if she was OK and she proceeded to respond saying “it’s OK I’m used to it “. USED TO IT? To hear her respond so casually with that phrase was so upsetting. We asked who he was, and She informed us that he was her manager. We were speechless. I hope that this message is viewed by whomever owns or is responsible for hiring management positions. I have sent out text messages to the people in my Dublin community, informing them of this situation, and to not support a business that verbally abuses their employees in front of customers and small children. I have also created a post in the next-door app to alert anyone in my community to avoid this place at all costs. I will reiterate that the food was scrumptious, the service was excellent, our waitress was wonderful, but I cannot morally financially contribute to an establishment that allows a man to verbally abuse employees in front of families. Considering he publicly reacted in this manner in front of customers, I cannot begin to imagine what goes on behind the scenes. I cannot imagine the long-term effects that this behavior has on anyone who is subjected and “used to” ongoing inappropriate behavior by this man.
We recently dined at this restaurant, and unfortunately, had a less than pleasant experience. Our check came to around $50, and my spouse rounded it up to $60 to include a tip. However, to our surprise, the restaurant charged the credit card an additional $60 for the tip, bringing the total to around $110. When we called to seek clarification and resolve the issue, the initial promise of a same-day investigation was not fulfilled. The next day, when my spouse attempted to follow up, the manager's response was not just unprofessional; it was shockingly rude and dismissive. The manager repeatedly questioned why my spouse was calling for what they considered a mere $60, as if the amount didn't matter. They hung up on my spouse without addressing the concern, leaving us upset. We found the manager's behavior to be completely unacceptable and uncalled for. It was only when my spouse expressed his intention to dispute the $60 charge with his bank that they finally refunded the excess amount. I hope this review serves as feedback for the management to improve their customer service practices and train their staff in dealing with customer concerns professionally. Obviously, we wouldn't go there again, and would strongly discourage everyone from dining there as well. Our experience left us disappointed, not just with the billing issue but also with the manager's unprofessional and rude behavior. Dining out should be an enjoyable experience, and unfortunately, this one was far from it.
Norm’s was always the best place in town and once these new owners took over it has gone downhill. Nowhere close to the same Norm’s place as before.
