I can’t say enough wonderful things about Milton’s Deli and especially about Ricky, who works there! The day after Thanksgiving, we had a last-minute mashed potato order to sort out, and Ricky was just fantastic from start to finish. His communication was on point, he was incredibly helpful, and he even went above and beyond by helping us load everything into our car. It made the whole experience so easy and pleasant. Definitely a five-star experience thanks to Ricky and the team at Milton’s!
We had a very nice time at Milton's a few days ago. It has very easy access to the front entrance and parking was not a problem. We were seated immediately and our server, who was very welcoming and friendly, took our order quickly. The food was very good but a bit expensive (like everything else, these days). All in all, it was a very nice stop on the way home from the fairgrounds.
Super busy when we got there, but got seated fairly quickly. Place was packed, but our server was composed, friendly, and attentive. I got the lox on an onion bagel and it was really good. Only snafu was that my daughter got onions on her sandwich when she asked for none, but she just picked them off and I added them to mine. Win/win! Will definitely go again next time I'm out there.
Oh Miltons, how i want you to be great. How close you come. Everything is almost there. Never not good but somehow every visit has its ups and downs. Still I come and one day the order will be right first time, the corned beef will be lean, the pastrami tasty, the matzoballs and chicken soup the same temperature and the waitress not awol. Then again these things add to the adventure. Everyone is very nice. Go. You probably won't be disappointed.
We stopped in here for dinner on the way home from SeaWorld. My triple decker Turkey Club was amazing. I could only eat half of it. The fries were also first rate. My dining companions were happy with their brisket sandwich and western hamburger respectively. Hostess Shannon seated us quickly and checked in on us several times throughout the meal. Server Bryant was friendly, helpful and efficient.
Always appealing and fantastic tasting food, no matter what the order is. Best Arnold Palmer in the area. Desserts are not abundant on the menu, but quite abundant in the deli section - where you can find many favorites and unique dishes. The banana pudding can be hit or miss as it may be just right, or be like a chunky soup - but that's okay since it goes down flavorful and all. Don't miss out and try the food here.
Nothing bad to report! Well parking is not great here. We had two huge sandwiches which were perfect. No dessert this trip, but as you walk in, there is plenty of temptation! Service was slow..not the server's fault, but the vibe was comfortable and happy. The manager made sure everyone was attended to. Price is about average like most places right now. My sandwich was $17 and fries are extra. Nice, varied menu with several Jewish dishes. I think everyone could find something to love there.
My husband and I were on our way to picnic near my aunt's house in Solana beach. I didn't know about milton's, but he was raving about their pastries and sandwiches. So we stopped by to get a variety of pastries to bring to the picnic, they were all devoured before even getting to the main lunch foods! They have a really great delicate touch on each of their pastries. If you're in the area I definitely recommend trying this place. I would love to go back to try some of their other food / sandwich items.
The overstuffed roast beef sandwich was great! It was that melt in your mouth cooked to rare perfection type of sandwich meat. The side of potato salad was nice too. The southwest salad was put together nicely and the grilled chicken was flavorful. We got a side order of sweet potato fries and they good too. Definitely stop and eat here if you’re in the area.
Milton's is freaking awesome! We went there on Saturday for a friend's bachelor party and we had a blast! I highly recommend the spicy jalapeno omelette. It was killer. It is so nice to be in San Diego and not have to go to a chain restaurant. The photo is technically from the event after Milton's.🔥🥧🌯🥩🥦🥪
This place was pretty good and not too bad. They had very little beer and more meats. The Ruben was amazing. The Ceaser and ranch was also incredible. Probably made in house. We went here on an extremely WHIM. My wife and I could not decide on a place to eat, then my baby crapped his diaper while we were driving north from the San Diego zoo.... so I just took the exit at Del Mar and parked in front of Miltons... Ok Bye
It's a great classic spot for a pastrami sandwich. The parking is a little rough on weekends, but they have a great bakery and goods to go. The prices are high, hut that's to be expected in this area. I would add, though, that the portion sizes are small for the cost to value ratio. Overall a good spot to try, just perhaps not a regular hangout.

Updating my 5 star review from a year ago: Milton's is 6 stars. From service to food quality and portion size, plus a lively ambiance, this place is the perfect deli.

Not cheap but good quality deli, fresh lox, bagels, cream cheeses and Jewish cookies halava and the works If corned beef and matzo ball soup is your thing this is the place in San Diego
Great east coast style deli, fries too thin for my taste but soup sandwiches are great. Challah read was hot from\nOven and outstanding !!

Milton's is a reliable New York type Deli with good food and service. I have gone there many times and enjoy the food and ambiance very much.

Shockingly our sandwiches weren't that great. The matzo ball soup was really good. We spent $40 in the bakery. The brownies were terrible, more like cake. Though the Cinnamon roll must have been good because my daughter ate that for breakfast one morning. They were also very nice and giving us two Waters for our dogs. The waitress was nice but we had to keep reminding her about our drinks or what we ordered. I've eaten here a few times in the past and it has always been good. Just not that way this time.
We gave this place another chance because it’s hard to find what would be considered a NY style deli here in San Diego, and my husband likes pastrami sandwiches. I ordered a tuna melt ( to give them another chance ( the last time it was not good, and this time I have a photo- one that the food stylist would reject for an ad because the filling didn’t even fill up the bottom of the bread)). The service was pleasant and helpful, the ambiance is tired, but better than DZ Akins( you could hardly do worse). My husband’s sandwich was fine, nothing extraordinary, but not awful, and mine was skimpy( see photo). I ordered coconut cake ( see photo) because I was told that it was the only cake they had with real buttercream. The buttercream tasted like the filling in a Twinkie, not like real buttercream, and it was spread so thin that it didn’t cover the whole outside of the cake, which inexplicably also had brown/ black crumbs or dirt on the outside. Notice in the photo that the filling between layers doesn’t even extend to the outside of the layers- it too was skimpy in its creation/construction, and don’t get me started on the stale taste- they obviously don’t do enough volume of business in the bakery to have fresh cakes at all times- and we, unfortunately were served a stale piece. Sorry I couldn’t give them a better review, but they didn’t earn it. Final decision-Milton’s is not recommended, but I can’t recommend an alternative NY style deli in all of San Diego either- so I guess that’s how they get away with their mediocrity.
Service was slow and we were among the first customers there for breakfast. Food was not remarkable. Will not go back.

Food is ok, over priced! The owner is retiring and he needs to as soon as possible! Rude to customers. It's an old fashion diner , could use some upgrades if you are going to have these prices!…

Haven't been here in a while and decided to try it again on a Groupon I found. Big mistake. Was only able to redeem half of it even though I was charge for twice the amount through the app- and was told that I needed to contact Groupon. Was unable to get refunded or use the other half I paid for because the restaurant used the coupon code already. As someone else mentioned they base tips including tax and credit card charge. Waitress completely missed putting my dad's meal order in. Not going back.
I ate here today and it was a painful experience for everyone in my group. I made a reservation on Open Table, which was not recognized, so our name was added to the wait list. Upon being seated, it took longer than acceptable to be greeted by our server. Once our drink order was taken, our server only brought three of the four drinks we ordered. Eventually, the fourth beverage was brought. The same went for our meal. Three of the four entrees were served, and it took 15-20 minutes for the fourth entree to be brought to the table. Our server could not be located, and when we finally got his attention, he was apathetic. This restaurant needs to train their staff on the etiquette of service. This training should involve both the hosts and the servers. We have been to this restaurant many times in the past, but we probably won't be back anytime soon. It might be better for takeout because the food was good.
I've wanted to visit here for the longest time. Finally went and was disappointed. The place was a zoo, both inside and out. Don't go on a Friday at lunch apperntly. The cashier/host complained openly about management and their abysmal employment. Got a rubin and a roast beef sandwich to go. The rubin was great and the roast beef was plain. The problem is have is the place is severely overpriced for what you get. We paid the embarrassing amount of $44 for what i thought would be twice the amount of what we actually got. I think this place has good food, the price is a joke as well as what we had to listen to as the greeter, first impression, face of the establishment.
I ate at Milton’s 08/15/2025. I ordered a lean corned beef sandwich which was good. I asked the waitress for a pound of lean corned beef to take home. When I opened the take home package it was heavy with FAT. I could not and would not eat it. I took a picture and put the corned beef in the trash. The worst part is today, I went to Milton’s with a picture of the fatty corned beef. The cashier looked at the photo shugged her shoulders and said it looks okay. I have been going to Milton’s since 2016. It’s not the same. I don’t recommend going to Milton’s. If you do go and get take out look at the food before taking it home.
The food was good, nothing special just the regular American breakfast. While the server was nice, the restaurant didn't have enough staff for the Saturday morning crowd, so the wait was very long. While they madw the food pretty quicklly, taking our order took at least 20-25 min. The prices are extremely high for the kind of comfort food they serve. Omelettes are $20+ , they charge for every topping thus you can easily end in the high 20's, soda is $6 and they will charge you for every refill. They didn't even ask us if we wanted a refill and ended up charging us. Filter coffee is $7! In the end the screeen for tip starts at 20% and up (you can likely adjust but most people don't even know how to do it or dont bother). So $209 for 4 meals including 4 drinks and 2 filter coffees is way too expensive. The kitchen is on the way to the bathrooms and it did not look very clean. Seems the place used to be very nice in its prime, but it is way too expensive for the kind of food and service they offer at this time. We are not coming back.
The food was very good. I ordered a large mish-mosh soup and a half sandwich. It was $65 before tip!!!!! I don't know what drugs they are taking, but that was my last visit to Miltons.

It was the most rotten stuff I tasted, I almost threw up the second they touched my taste buds and I spent a lot of money on it
Everything about this place is great, except for their tipping and payment practices. The credit card machine starts at 20%, 24%, and even higher for tips, and the tip is calculated after tax, which significantly increases the total. On top of that, the new owners now charge an additional 3% credit card fee after all other charges are added. By the time you include taxes, tips, and fees, you end up paying around 35% more than the menu price. Unfortunately, because of this, I won’t be a regular customer anymore.
