Great southern fried catfish. Lightly coated corn meal batter. Black eyed peas were just like Mama made! I brought my cousins who were visiting from Seattle, Washington. We will be back!

We come here often for date night. Tonight was the best! Our sweet little waitress was named Honesty. It apparently was her first Friday night and was wonderful. She made our night wonderful. If you check this place out and want great service as for Honesty as your server if possible. She will go above and beyond to make your night wonderful.

The catfish was crispy and meaty and yummy The fried okra was excellent and crispy. The baked potato was delicious and the hushpuppies were yummy. We ordered the onion petals and stuffed jalapenos for an appetizer and both were delicious, I would say that I enjoyed the onion petals more.

Hands down the best restaurant catfish I’ve ever had. The wait staff are about as polite as a Texan can get, and the atmosphere is what you’d expect from a small town restaurant. The tables have local businesses, and the decor is perfect. If I lived closer, it would be a regular stop for me.

It's kinda hidden, and you have to intentionally seek it out. However, most definitely a place worth the find.

We left with no leftovers which is rare for a meal with 4 kids but everyone loved the food so much there wasn't even a fry left to bring home. The pecan cobbler and apricot cobbler are delicious. Huck's is absolutely the best catfish you will get anywhere! We are from East Tennessee, so we've had some good catfish, but we've never had better catfish than you will get at Huck's! And their sides? Oh my gosh....the crispy fried okra, the pinto beans, garlic bacon coleslaw....just to name a few! It's all truly the best I've ever had! Huck's has set the bar so high, we just don't eat catfish anywhere else!

UPDATE May 2024: Good to get back. We don't often make a 51 mile one-way trip just for catfish but it was worth it again. Ashley was our waitress and she did a great job for us and other tables. Very popular for weekday lunch hr with several family groups and co-workers on lunch break. We got 1/2 catfish order each with four different sides. Great meal combo and for leftovers UPDATE Nov 2023: This might become a Thanksgiving Day lunch tradition; this time we came before. We needed a road trip and coming here was as good as any. Besides we needed to get into OK to cash in our OK MegaMillions ticket. Great food again and excellent service. We only got three fillets for two us which was plenty and the best side dishes. UPDATE Nov 2022: Back for another serving of catfish post-Turkey day. Lesson learned one fillet is more than enough along with two sides. Unless you are very hungry and/or want leftovers. Not as crowded as our first visit but a number of families there with kids out of school this week. Lots of wait staff on hand so very good service.MAR 2022: Great excuse on a nice spring day to take a road trip here from Plano, TX. Huck's was recommended to us and we visited some of the places we lived/worked/shopped 40 yrs ago in area. One fillet with two sides was more than enough but we went for the apricot cobble with ice cream as well. Way too much. Meal was great dessert not so much. Very popular with the seasoned citizen crowd and locals. Off the beaten track. Lots of seating inside so don't be worried about all the parked cars.

This place is great for catfish..the staff there are very friendly and are attentive. This is your grandpa's catfish place lol. Usually, what I have noticed is that the people that come there tend to be older people crowd. Not to say that there are not younger people that eat there. Just seems more of a down-home country feeling where a family would go out to eat after church or something. This place is famous for their fried catfish. I have been going there for years. I drive almost two hours just to go and eat there. That's how good it is. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes down home cooking.

I and my wife do not usually give reviews. However, Huck's deserves an enormous great review. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and just all around great. The food is really tasty. Portions are very generous in todays economy of raising prices and cutting portions to barely a decent meal. For those with gluten issues such as my wife. They offer the catfish batter with cornmeal and seasoning is ohhhh so good. The only negative is we do not live in the area. We wish Mable Fall TX had a Huck's like this one. We eat hear as often as we can when visiting family in Denison TX

I don't get up here as often as I like, but Huck's ALWAYS DELIVERS THE GOODS when I do. Down home atmosphere, very polite and efficient staff. I've never been disappointed. Edit... 4 yrs later.... STILL my #1 go to for catfish in N TX.... It's just the best!

I must say, this is a hidden gem! Very tasty, I had the stuffed crab shells with a baked potato and the creamed spinach and it was perfect. With free endless hush puppies, this place shall not disappoint! Beautifuly made and it is the best seafood of Grayson county, with REAL crab! Very sweet customer service too. I will definitely come back. Try this place if you want quality food at a perfect value!

My first time there and won’t be my last. Service was great and went the extra mile to get what we needed. Plenty of seating and liked the atmosphere. Got the catfish and has to be the best I have ever had. Had a baked potato and fried squash. We also got the kids grilled cheese with watermelon and grapes. The grilled cheese was so good my grandson ordered another one. Five stars!

The restaurant it's self had a nice cozy feel to it. With great employees waiting to tend to your every need with an amazing attitude, and food to match their charm, you can't go wrong with this place! There bathrooms, dining, and waiting areas were decently clean too. I'm gluten free and had never tried catfish before, so the crispy, fried, mouthwatering catfish was a dream come true. Can't wait to come back again!

What a cool little joint that specializes in CATFISH! It’s a must do bucket list item if your a fish lover like me! Get the special sauces and enjoy the extra friendly staff that will make you feel at home. Fillets are big so order small and get more after.

I prefer the middle of the patty cooked a little longer, but they still had a good taste. This was not my first visit. The staff is always friendly and very good at keeping up with their tables. I've been going to Huck's for catfish exclusively for 20 years, when I first moved to this area. The first catfish house I went to was by the lake, and it was good, but not Huck's good. After I tried Huck's there was no reason to go anywhere else. Great service; the chef, owner, manager, they all come around and greet you properly. They make you feel at home. Never had a bad waiter/waitress, either. Everything I've eaten is stellar. Completely delicious 😋 PS. Always get extra hushpuppies! ❤️

We were greeted as we walked in the door - the servers were friendly and professional. We tried the catfish and the salmon patties and apitizer. Pricing was very reasonable and everything was delicious. THE The portions were good and we did bring a little goody bag home. The parking lot was FULL and I had to park back behind the restaurant (not a parking space) and it was WORTH IT! They had a little bench out front under a tree where my folks could sit and wait til I pulled the car around 😁 Thank you! We'll definitely be back.

When you find out where the locals eat, you go there. We had an outstanding meal with Greta serving us. The catfish can be cornmeal fried, baked, or fried with cajun spices added. Most meals come with two sides. The potato/ham salad was delicious with just the right amount of mayonnaise. The catfish are 4 ounce large pieces served with chow-chow and raw white onions. Sides are numerous and nicely sized. I had a large grilled chicken salad with tomatoes, celery, carrots, cucumbers and a boiled egg. The hushpuppies were kinda meh, but everything else was delicious. So even if you don't have room for dessert, get the pecan cobbler. It's just as good as our homemade pecan pie, so it's definitely worth getting a togo order.

Great value for what you get. Fish was perfectly cooked and all the sides knocked it out of the park. Creamed spinach and ham potato salad were the top sides but nothing was left on our plates when we finished. Glad we tried Huck’s was worth the drive will definitely recommend and come back to try different sides and menu items.

We arrived just as they were opening and we were greeted by the staff. The service was excellent. We had the hush puppies with relish and butter for our appetizer. The fried fish was excellent, but if you are expecting an East Texas cornmeal breading this is not it. The breading was light and not greasy at all. I am picky about coleslaw, but I liked theirs. Overall a very good experience. I would definitely go back.

This place is timeless! What a great joint! I have been eating at this restaurant for over a decade now and they consistently have the best catfish around! Just no BS, down home southern country, and traditionally breaded/cooked fried catfish! Go get some and thank me later! Pro tip: when they are open, they can get real busy at the dinner hour. Its almost best to wait an hour or 2 past the dinner hour, and you usually dont have to wait!

They have awesome sweet tea and lemonade, (Arnold Palmer!) service, and a small town atmosphere. There are so many good sides/veggies that it's so hard to just choose a few. Best Lunch of the Month! We were seriously craving catfish, so we headed over—and were immediately encouraged when we saw the parking lot completely full. To me, that’s always a good sign that the food is going to be great. What we didn’t expect was for everything to be fantastic! From the tangy green relish to the flavorful beans, and of course, the perfectly cooked catfish—we were blown away. We even ordered the catfish two different ways, and both were excellent. Big shoutout to the staff as well—super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. And for fellow veterans: they offer a military discount, which is a great touch. I absolutely love this place and will definitely be back!

Don’t know how we missed this place for the 7 years we’ve been in the area but l can assure you we’ll make up for the lost time . Our server was super nice and friendly guided us through the menu and we were off and running. Best Catfish I’ve ever had hands down big fillets and big portions of fresh cut fries . Potato salad and garlic bacon slaw were great as well, not your ordinary coleslaw by any means. And I almost forgot the hush puppies ridiculously good,I could’ve eaten 50 of those and would’ve been happy with just that. I’m telling you if you haven’t been here Hucks is a must try, so good you’ll have to nap afterwards 😂

Green tomato relish, onions and all you want hushpuppies were a pleasant surprise. So much food and I only had the 3/4 meal.😊 Love that you can get each filet done a different way. Enjoyed "burnt" and Cajon fried a lot.

We have eaten here a couple of times and it's always consistent. I really like their sides, fried okra is always excellent and the green relish is top notch The catfish is always cooked very well, but there's just something about the taste of it that seems a little off to me, while it's not bad, it's just not what I'm used to. I've been going to Huck's Catfish since it was located in Pottsboro, TX. Last night, 10-25-25, was the first time I've stuck to the floor! Every person that walked through the north dining room was sticking to the floor because it was so dirty. I guess the new owner doesn't know what hot soapy water and a mop is for. The food was as it's always been. No complaints. The service wasn't great. Our server spent her time hanging out at the corner of the entrance between the dining room and kitchen. I ordered two drinks, a tea and water. My wife and I needed drink refills. She came by the table, and didn't notice that all three drinks were empty. My wife asked for a refill. She returned to the table, filled my wife's drink, and left my two empties! I had to flag down another server to get my water refilled. After a less than pleasurable dining experience, and listening to the shoes pop loose from the floor, I went to the front to pay my tab. You can see into the kitchen, and it sure looks darker than I remember, with grease coating the walls. How this place is passing health inspection is beyond me.

Honest review. Food was below average. Lack of seasoning on almost all items. Six members of family verifies this. Lack of diversity in staff and atmosphere. Customer service from (2) different waitresses were below average. No extra smiles or conversation to make us come back. One of our orders were not correct, and you could see them talking about us as they walked back to fix it. This was our first and last time to this overrated restaurant. Felt like they did the “least” to take care of us. We spent $156 and walked out feeling we wasted our money.

We came for the first time today after hearing so many excellent reviews, however, we were quite disappointed with the fish. I ordered 2 catfish fillets, with fried squash and a baked potato as my sides. The catfish honestly had no flavor or seasoning at all, not even salt. It tasted as if it was fried in cornmeal alone, and I had to add quite a bit of salt and even tried hot sauce just to give it some flavor. The fried squash tasted as if it was frozen and then fried. This also had no seasoning and I had to add quite a bit of salt to it. The baked potato came foil wrapped and was a great texture but it’s only served with a packet of butter and a packet of sour cream. I will say my husband ordered the chicken fried steak and he said it was one of the best he’s ever had. As far as the fish goes, I guess it honestly depends on your taste, however, where I’m from we season the fish and the batter and this doesn’t seem to be how they cook theirs there. The staff were great and attentive, and considering how busy they were we received excellent service.

My cousins have been telling how good Huck's Catfish was. They assured me that it was worth the 50 minute drive. I was expecting outstanding fried catfish. I was so disappointed. It was bland. I grew up eating cornmeal coated fried catfish with amazing flavor. The service was awesome and the price was good. But the catfish was not worth the drive.

Food was bland. Black eyed peas just like I ate them straight from a can. Fish was not seasoned in any way. Hush puppies were like I heated them from a bag. Service was very different. I worked in restaurants most of my life & never did I see a waitress eat from a table next to customers while jumping up to take orders. Our waitress waited at her food as she nibbled and then slowly decided to take our order. Other people brought the food out. Waitress cont to eat from her plate bouncing back to other tables as she wanted. Leaving us alone until she delivered the bills to our table. My husband told the manager upon exit of the “service” she said next time your through we will give you a complimentary plate. 🤔That won’t be happening.

Catfish is very chewy and gross and taste like chicken breast , yuk!!!!!! Grandys has better tasting catfish, no lie!!! Asked, the fish isn't even local!!!! It is frozen from Pittsburgh, TX. Will never eat here again. I would advise against it for you, too.

The staff was very friendly. But that fish was TERRIBLE and that's not real CATFISH and second they fry it in FLOUR. The pickle relish was delicious. I would definitely not stop by again and they could give it too me for free and I still wouldn't eat it. Please stop saying that you are frying it the MISSISSIPPI way because thats not true. I am from the south and we don't fry our fish in flour. That's the worst mess I've had since living here.

As always, the fried catfish was hot and crispy. Not fancy, but food and service was great.

We drove from all over North Texas to celebrate a family member’s 80th birthday here. The service was fantastic—our servers were attentive and kind—but unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment. We drove over an hour, only to be served floppy, undercooked fries, a chicken fried steak smothered in bland gravy, and a “salad” that was just a bowl of lettuce with a few chopped tomatoes on top. Everything was underseasoned and lacked flavor. We truly appreciated the staff’s effort, but the food was all-around not good and left us very disappointed.
