The Bearded Monk is perfection. Amazing beer selection, amazing staff. In just a few years, they’ve turned into a true Denton staple.

Came by to pick up a six pack of Fiesty Blonde as a gift for my neighbor. Sampled the ginger beer, how wonderfully smooth and delicious! Can't beat the customer service or atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

Bearded Monk is likely numero uno in bottle shops North of DFW, if not the entire metroplex (I’ve not costed them all so I can’t rightly say). Ben and crew know their beers and love sharing knowledge and the craft with anyone willing to pause a moment in this crazy life and have a chat. Excellent recommendations, excellent selection, superb hospitality. Do not pass them up!

This ain't your grandpa's brewpub. Mine either, my Grandpa works at a motorcycle shop. My other Grandpa still owns a restaurant but he ran out on our grandma a couple decades ago to marry some young heathen he claimed he was going to convert to Christianity, my memories of that period are hazy at best but I sharply remember that bizarre aspect of the whole family crisis. The point is, your grandparent simply does not own this establishment. Prove me wrong, I bet you can't even prove if the own of this place has a son, let alone a grandchild. I am not a liar and if proven a fool on this matter I will take this review.

This is an amazing local bar. The owner/bar tender was friendly, vibrant and full of life. He made every customer feel welcomed and like they were an old friend. I would highly recommend this place to anyone local or passing through. It’s a great representation of the local scene in Denon, TX! Florida sends it’s love!

An awesome bar/alcohol dispensary, they are kind if hidden away, but its definitely worth the visit. They have a good selection of beers I've never heard of, but the staff is totally willing to help you pick something out if you ask. Also, they have a ton of events going on all the time. Also also, they have a little gacha dispenser for $.50 that gives you a polyhedral dice! Super dope!

Did you ever go to a party in college and see a large friend group that was standing in a circle, laughing, and just looking like they were having fun, well the Bearded Monk can't give you those friends, but you'll probably meet a few there. If not you'll be able to find a delectable beverage that might taste like you met those friends there and had a good time. Great Environment and Greater Staff.

The friendliest staff in all of Denton. They have an incredible selection of beers and they will explain each to you at length. You can sample until you find your perfect pint or growler. Refined taste without a snobbish atmosphere. You will be super comfortable while consuming copious quantities of delicious brew-skis.

Coveffe or covid or corona has dealt many businesses a heavy blow. We miss hanging out at "the monk" and hope and pray we'll be able to go there to sit down, have a few beers and get reacquainted with some nice folks. Until then, we'll take considerable joy in being able to call the monk and ask for beer suggestions, or if they have a specific beer, or if they have a certain style of beer, and a few minutes later drive through and pick it up. The banter at pickup is great..... you'd think Ben and crew were missing seeing friendly faces - so drop by and show them your friendly (masked) face! This was a pleasant surprise. I just happened to be in the area for other reasons when I spotted The Bearded Monk and decided to drop in. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the beer selection here was great. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area and need some good beer to take home.

This is mostly a growler-filling station for me, but it's also a really great bar. The inside is chill, with a few couches and a half dozen four-top tables. There's a smattering of board games for your amusement too. They also run a bottled/canned beer store inside, with some very eclectic choices. There's rare stuff here I haven't seen anywhere else (except Midway). The keg selection is WIDE, and constantly rotating. Every time I go the choices are completely different than the last time. While I love the variety, It's a little bothersome that I can't reliably find my favorites. Instead, I try something new & maybe find a new favorite.

A unique craft beer bottle shop, there is something for ever beer lover here. Packaged beer to go, beer on draft, great atmosphere and stellar service. In addition, there are some great craft beer accessories for sale like growlers, crates, coasters, etc, all locally made for the craft beer lover in your life. A real gem to stop in for a quick purchase or to hang out for an evening.

The Bearded Monk is an excellent Craft Beer house. The staff is incredibly friendly. The shelves and items on tap are an excellent array of artisan ales. Also the staff strives to hold numerous exciting events. An fun and exciting place.

My favorite Denton bar! The selection of craft brews is only out shined by the staff's knowledge. Great service and you can have a drink while you are getting a growler filled to take home along with a 6 pack you got off the shelf.

This is the most amazing bar on the planet. LGBTQIA+ friendly year round. Check out the food trucks right next door and behind the Monk. Blind Fox is my personal favorite. Try the kimchi Mac n cheese.

The staff here is top notch. They are all passionate and knowledgeable about beer and want to make sure you find the varieties that best match your taste.

We love the Bearded Monk as a source for craft beer- they have really interesting and tasty brews from all over the country (and some international ones as well), to a degree that is quite hard to find anywhere else. You can find a good number of more generic craft brews from Texas at Total Wine, but you go here if you want to find a 2018 barrel aged variant of something, beers from other states' craft brew scene, or microbrews from local businesses. I'm particularly impressed by their selection of meads and sours, those rank highly on my list of interests.

Very bizarre and eclectic taproom. The beer is good. The variety is nice. There’s a Golden Girls board game. Lots of stickers. Something for everyone to enjoy.

This is the best bar in Denton! It's chill and relaxed. Very friendly bar staff. They are very knowledgeable about the beer they sell. I love that I can go in and buy a bottle to take home, or drink something off of the draft wall, or fill a growler. It's the place to be! If you haven't checked them out, you should!

Great place. Great guys. Great selection. Great recommendations. Went here to get some wedding planning (fun, right?) out of the way with the fiancé. Had a two delicious beers that I've never tried before which is always a treat. Other places in town have a larger selection on draft but give me quality over quantity any day! Their take home selection rivals places likes Midway Mart. I think the best part is the people though. Ben and his crew are really personable and helpful, they're not pushy at all, and they actually try to connect with and welcome every guest that comes through their door. Support this place!

The staff's gift for taste governs the wide selection, rather than what's most popular. They are knowledgeable and happy to share what they know. Rarely, have I left with just a great beer, but a greater understanding of what I am drinking. That, coupled with a wholesome happy feeling, due to the friendly nature of the entire staff and trademark denton good vibes (somehow magnified!). Been here a few times with a buddy of mine who almost lives there lol and it's always fun. They have things like comedy and musicians sometimes or special drink releases. There are plenty of beers on tap to choose from or canned and bottled if you prefer that. Staff has always been friendly but they know how to joke to which nice and appreciated. You can find many flavors to take with you as well depending on what you like. I'm sure I'll be back soon.

Always love taking a trip up to the Bearded Monk. They have a great selection of "for here" beer and then an elaborate selection for to go beer. I was able to work on my cross stitch and drink at a table.

Awesome selection of on tap beers as well as cans and bottles. You can also grab stuff to go (4-6 pks as well as get growlers filled). Staff are all friendly and helpful. Conveniently located next to a great food truck park. They also host awesome special events such as a Vampire Bar Crawl were everyone comes decked out in their best vamp attire and prowl the night to some cool smaller Denton bars and speakeasys.

One of the best places in Denton for a brew. The selection is always rotating making it new each time, and the staff really know their stuff. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff, great selection of beer, good prices and growler fillups. What more could you ask for?? Probably nothing but this place went ahead and gave it to you; chill environment, local artist galleries, board games and an unusually awesome crowd. It's also right off the square, so bring that new (used) book or your new (new) comic book over and read with one of the best beers you've ever had. I have gotten to the point where I trust that if they have it on tap it's gonna be worth drinking at least once. JUST GO

I can honestly say the Bearded Monk is a 5-star establishment for many reasons. When they first opened up, my boyfriend and I went in a couple of times together. Then one time, I came in by myself, and the staff remembered me by name and treated me wonderfully. This is the first beer bar that this ever happened at for me, so naturally, we became regulars. In the over 2 years they have been open, I have been a regular, a bartender for them, a former employee turned regular again, and now that I no longer live in Denton I still make it a point to go there at least once a month. The beer selection is amazing. The knowledge of the staff is amazing. Most importantly, the people in general at the Monk are AMAZING. Thanks to Ben Esely and Ben Webster, my boyfriend and I have a family in Denton that always make us feel like home when we visit.

I don't hesitate a moment when someone suggests meeting up at The Bearded Monk- and I live 71 miles away. In days gone by I live closer. That meant I could pop-in just about anytime which I did. The beer selection is massive, ever revolving and evolving. Yet the list is over shadowed by the staff, who maybe some of the kindest, friendliest people you're likely to encounter. Recently Riley and Ben helped make for a memorable afternoon- thank you.

I come here for the friendly staff, good mocktails, ciders, mead, and the golden root ginger beer. I’m allergic to wheat so this is one of the places in town I like to come to regularly because I have lots of options. If you’re allergic to gluten be sure to ask for some of the fancier drinks especially the holiday menus, sometimes some of the bars around here like to garnish things with the forbidden snacks, but they always have plenty of options. Really chill place to hang out and have several drinks. Lots of fun events each month. Life drawing with Artists’ Grove Tattoo and Art Studio is my favorite.

You can find some of the latest beers as well as some nostalgic beers you don’t always see in the big box stores. The space seems small on the outside you would expect an antique quaint shop. Then you go in and see an impressive tap wall of crushable beer, rows of beers to purchase, and a cold case. The Bearded Monk has a quirky and lovable attitude and vibe that you want to stay all day. By 5 p.m., scrolling and enjoying my beer, I think I should have been gone a long time ago. SMH. It was so peaceful sitting at a table. If I had my book I would have been in complete bliss! You can bring food from the nearby food Truck or that amazing Mexican restaurant around the corner. I don’t get to Denton that often but when I do; The Bearded Monk is on the list.

You’ll love Bearded Monk if you love craft beer. Although I’m not a craft beer drinker myself, they always still have great options on draft that cater to my picky beer preferences. I ordered the Guava Good from Oak Highlands Brewery. My husband got the Kolsh from 512 Brewing. And they have a few outdoor picnic tables you can enjoy a draft while soaking in the sun (or staying shaded under the umbrella). You can also order a 6-pack of cans, bomber bottles or even growlers to-go. Plus, if you get a chance to meet Ben, he’s one of the friendliest bar owners in town and actively involved in the community.

Very nice laid back place, lot of beer selection in bottles and cans and on my visit there were I think 20 maybe 21 beers on tap. If your wanting great beer great atmosphere and great relaxing conversation then this is a must stop. Wine is part of the menu. Interesting selection of souvenirs for you to take home (from beer bottle lamps to their signature beers of the season and wines from around the world). A well known location in Denton, this pub has a great selections of drinking beers and wines for you. Cider too! Some of the items might me seasonal but you can get most of their drinks on their souvenirs. No food to order here. If you want to smoke, you can exit to their back alley with drink on hand with no problem. Pets must be kept outside. You can bring your family here to enjoy a great drink and have a taste of Denton. It is worth the stop definitely.

Dig the vibe, very open setup, retail items mixed in well. Love that you can grab a beer to drink, or to go if you need. Also their open mic night on Sundays is always a good time if you're looking for a laugh or some good tunes.

Great beer selection and a small selection of kegs to fill growlers. Always an interesting mix. The folks that work there know their beers very well and can make wonderful suggestions. I wish they had a location right on the square so they'd get more traffic.

Super cool collection of beers and beer paraphernalia. Tasty beers on tap as well; I had the coconut milk stout, yum! And when we were there they were making cards for a women's shelter for Valentine's day!!♥️

The atmosphere is nice, but it's not the best brewery I've been to. I have been twice but prefer to go places where they'll let you try a small sample before buying it. I hate buying one that I end up not liking, and because every brewery makes beer differently, the taste can vary widely. Both times that I went, service was kind of slow, having to wait for someone on staff to come to the bar. The bathroom was in desperate need of TLC and some renovation. They do have some games if you get bored, but the seating isn't the most comfortable.

I have no photos of the Bearded Monk, but it’s not a very hard place to find, being right across the the street from City Hall on McKinney St., downtown. The service was excellent. The employees were awesome. You have to order food from other places and bring it in. They do have every beer known to man. My only issue and why I couldn't give it 5 stars is the dog. I am severely allergic to dogs. It kept coming to me. Everything else was perfect.

We have been here before and would have given it 5 stars but the last time took it down to 4 due to the bartender. Previously we had great service and some small tastes of the beer available which is no longer available. This time under poured and over priced. Also the previous bartenders always interacted with us but not on this Sunday March 23rd. We were one and done and went next door to Denton County Brewing company

My only wish is that they had prices listed somewhere. There was no way of telling how much a bottle of wine or case of beer was. Otherwise this place has an incredibly impressive variety of alcoholic beverages. The tables looked clean and like a decent place to hangout. Staff seemed friendly, although they weren’t very helpful. Which is fine, but when there’s no prices listed anywhere it’s not efficient or inviting.

Went to the bearded monk because they had a special on beer to go. 15% off. I took my growlers and head down only to find out that growlers were not part of the deal. They did not specify that on the FB ad. Slow service after I was told the growlers were not part of the sale. Very disappointing. Ranked the top bar staff in Denton, but not sure how that happened. I will use other stores to get my growlers filled. They are not the only game in town.

Initially this was a cute bar to hang out in with a local vibe. They had some poets I guess that were reciting the works. We sat at the bar and talked with some other people when up comes a man to tell me that the “show” is taking place and that’s why they were there. It would be nice if we could keep it down. Let me just say the bartender clearly was on their side as we asked for the check and walked next door. I get the arts but it’s a bar and a place to socially or maybe the Bearded Monk isn’t.

Beer was good, but they won’t give samples. And my beer was quite under-poured. No one else there, but I’m sure they are popular. Patio seating was less than desirable.

No samples is a pretty lame policy. Beers were not poured to the top of the glass (2 fingers from the top on some). Overall not a good selection. Stop by next door instead.
