Opinions de Shuck Me Seafood Denton
Great place to hang out. We took the tables outside the front such a nice day to be out. I recommend their gumbo in a sourdough bowl!!! It was so good!!! The rest of the fam ordered fish n chips, chicken enchilada and hamburger. Bonus - today they had a free hot chocolate stand!!!!
This was the best Red Snapper fish that I have ever eaten from a restaurant to-go. My husband & I ordered this off another review of the red snapper from a Google search. Most restaurants don't cook red snapper only the other known fishes. It was fried very well, with seasoning and the green sauce on the side was delicious. Also we did not expect to get 3 sides of rice, beans, and sauce since we only ordered a side of fries & rice. 🍚 & 🫘 were delicious too by the way. Thank y'all so much!
Best crawfish we have had in N. Texas! Laid back and colorful atmosphere with cold beer and friendly service
Decided to go to “Shuck Me” on a sunny Ash Wednesday! I loved the food and atmosphere. Got their lunch special for fried catfish and fries with Cajun seasoning. Loved it! Definitely coming back every Friday till Easter. Usually I would go to Hoochies but they are closed for remodeling. Customer service was awesome and the food. Definitely recommend coming for seafood and their variety of dishes. Shucks this place is awesome 👏💘🐟🎣
Such a beautiful hidden gem 💎 close to the 'Square' or Downtown Denton. This Seafood resort is located in Elms street, so thoughtfully decorated to capture Sea 🌊 and Countryside in one. It has patios for outdoor dining and a private room. You place your order at the counter and sit anywhere. I had the Redfish, corn on the cob, beans and Mai Tai for Cocktails🍸 😋 . I had initially gone to Hooties Seafood, but it was Closed for Remodeling, a Local recommended Shuck me, and I am very Satisfied 😌 😅
Service was outstanding. Made sure everything was great. Very quick delivery of dinner. Fantastic recommendations for us. The oysters were very fresh & tasty. Had fish & chips and shrimp Alfredo- definitely recommend.
Literally just left and I had to leave a review. It was my first time visiting! I brought my s/o and my two kiddos(my son is on the spectrum), they loved the place. I always enjoy a place that feels welcoming towards kiddos. Loved the lunch specials! Food was super yummy and came out fast. Can't wait to come back.
I finally made it to Denton to try this great place that I've heard so much about. It's literally one of the cleanest restaurants I've been into in a long time! The counter staff was so sweet and helpful. The kitchen is super clean too, I love that they leave it open so that you can see it. The food was absolutely wonderful! We ordered Gumbo, fresh oysters, catfish, and okra. EVERYTHING was fantastic!! The catfish was just like I love it, not too thick, crispy, and so flavorful! Even the tartar sauce and ranch were so good! Definitely try this great restaurant the next time you are in Denton!!
We had fresh oysters 🦪 for starters and they were delicious. Try the fish n chips, the batter is nice and crunchy and big pieces of fish 🐠 inside. The fried shrimp basket offered big pieces of shrimp, hush puppies and fries. All were very satisfying. You order at the counter and wait for your meal. Must pick up condiments, sodas, etc. Service is great. The bathroom is so adorably decorated with pics of people fishing. Love the atmosphere. When we went on the weekend it looked like the band was just packing up and we missed it. It’s one of our favorite places to eat in Denton.
f there were a "must-visit" list for Denton, Shuck Me would be at the top—no questions asked. This seafood haven is everything you want in a laid-back, family-friendly spot with a whole lot of flair. Whether you’re here for a casual bite or celebrating an epic occasion, Shuck Me delivers flavor, fun, and an unforgettable time. We recently rolled in for a birthday bash with 6 adults and 5 kids, and Shuck Me turned what could have been a chaotic dining experience into a breeze. Shoutout to the staff, who went above and beyond to make sure our gang felt like royalty. From keeping the kiddos happy with their favorite fries, cheeseburgers, and tenders to making sure the adults had an unforgettable seafood feast—this crew has hospitality down to a science. Let’s talk food because, let’s be real, that's why we’re all here. The shrimp po’boy was an absolute standout. I’m talking stuffed to the brim with plump shrimp that burst with flavor in every bite. But let’s not sleep on the oysters, because they are hands down some of the freshest and most perfectly prepared I’ve had in Denton. Every dish we’ve tried has been on-point—no misses here. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, and it shows. Pros: Delicious Seafood: If you love seafood, Shuck Me will spoil you. Shrimp po’boys, oysters, and everything in between are fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Family-Friendly: With a stellar selection for the little ones (hello, cheeseburgers and tenders) and a staff that’s always friendly and welcoming, Shuck Me makes dining with a big group or kids effortless. Spacious Patio: The outdoor patio is a total vibe. It’s perfect for relaxing with a cold drink, enjoying great weather, and savoring that seafood goodness. Hello, patio season! Welcoming Staff: If you’re lucky enough to get served by the crew here, expect impeccable service. They’re always upbeat, accommodating, and ready to make your experience one to remember. Great for Celebrations: Birthday parties, family dinners, or just a random Tuesday—Shuck Me has proven to be the ultimate celebration spot. The energy, the food, and the staff make it stress-free and fun. Live Music: The live music is a huge bonus on certain nights, adding to the atmosphere and giving you something to enjoy while you feast. Cons: Busy at Peak Times: It’s so good that sometimes it gets crowded. Be prepared to wait during peak hours, but trust me, it’s worth it. Casual Setting: This isn’t a fine-dining spot—if you're looking for something fancier, you might want to head elsewhere. But for a laid-back vibe with great food? This is it. Limited Indoor Space: The patio is where the magic happens, but indoor seating can be tight during colder months. Best to come prepared with layers or embrace the outdoors! Noise Level: It can get loud, especially with the live music, kids running around, and groups celebrating. Not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner, but perfect for a lively time with friends and family. Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a spot that serves up delicious, fresh seafood with a side of good vibes and a whole lot of heart, Shuck Me is where it’s at. Whether you’re gathering your crew for a birthday, hanging out with the family, or just craving some fantastic seafood, this place has you covered. Highly recommend you check it out!
What a JEWEL, Such a beautiful place, great patio, dog friendly. The atmosphere is great, TVs are everywhere but the BEST THING IS THE FOOD!!! We had the grilled Shrimp platter with charro beans and the best rice ever. My wife had Grilled chicken tacos, nice serving size and EVERYTHING WAS VERY TASTY!! Great beer selection with a separate full bar as well. My new favorite place!!
Great New Seafood Choice for Denton Didn’t even know this was here and so glad I discovered it. Entrance is from the parking lot on the north side. I was unsure about the entrance so just in case others are wondering. Food was fresh and very good. I had the combo fried shrimp/catfish, and I also had a cup of shrimp/crab gumbo. The fried shrimp was fantastic and the catfish was good. The gumbo was very good. I liked the French fries, too. They kinda have a crispy coating. My friend had the grilled shrimp, Spanish rice, beans. He liked it all. We will go back many times.
One of the best seafood places! Service was good, great place- super spacious inside and out, lots of parking, very clean. The food was so delicious and came out so quick! Best Alfredo hands down. Everything was crispy and fresh. The fries were some of the best fries! Shrimps were juicy. Calamari wasn’t chewy or dry, so good! Gumbo was delicious and had a nice kick! This will be our new favorite spot to go to.
Wow! This was a pleasant surprise. Amazing food! Great prices too for seafood! I loved the self service area. You order when you walk in, get your own drinks and condiments, then find a table. There was even live music tonight. Everything we ate was amazing. The employees were super friendly and helpful. They even let my grandmother sample the chowder before she ordered. We will be back.
The food is really good! You have to order at the cash register. If you want hard liquor or anything other than a few beers you have to go the the bar on the other side of the restaurant. But the food is really good! The homemade tarter sauce is the best I've ever had! We have gone here numerous times and will keep going back!
I pass by this place every day, so I thought it would be a good place to try their seafood since it was Ash Wednesday. Which means fasting and no meat. They didn't disappoint. Good New Orleans seafood flavor. Of course, I had fried oysters and shrimp with a side of French bread. We also had fried Calamari, not your typical New Orleans seafood appetizer, but they were delicious! Fish and Chips were my friend's choice, it was good too! The young lady who took our order was knowledgeable and delightful! I don't remember her name! I will certainly be back, especially during Lent!
The food is very good! The atmosphere is interesting. But trying to get someone in a wheelchair inside for a meal? Not the easiest after parking a long way off and having to walk thru the parking lot (handicap spots are not close at all) and then having to circumnavigate to the door. That will negatively influence our decision to return.
A fabulous place for seafood! Their po-boys and fried plates are excellent! The atmosphere and vibe make you feel like you are eating on the Gulf Coast!
About a block or so from Denton Square, Shuck Me is a cute beach themed seafood spot. The decor is top notch! I really love the mix of marine themed items. I think I would discover something new each time I went. I especially loved the huge treasure chest over the drink area. They have a large outdoor area as well, fun, we sat at one of their fun, round high tops and enjoyed the many TV’s and fun music they were playing. The service wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t inviting and welcoming. We didn’t know where to go at first - they have you walk to the back wall to order - but we figured it out quickly. Once at the counter, the lady took our order, and got it correct, she just didn’t show much personality or engage much other than asking to take our order. It was a great time to go, on a Sunday evening around 6:30. They weren’t super busy, but busy enough that we enjoyed the vibe without a super long wait. So, for the food. I ordered a fried shrimp and catfish combo. The fries were SO amazing! They are absolutely delicious! The fried shrimp and the catfish filet were smaller than I had anticipated, as compared to similar types of restaurants. The flavor was good, but I was disappointed with the catfish. It had too much of a mud-cat flavor for me, a little too earthy. My husband ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail and gumbo. He enjoyed both of them. Both were packed with seafood and the serving of tortilla chips on the side with the shrimp cocktail was a nice touch. There are other items on the menu that I will try next time. They have a lot of choices on the menu, it took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. I really like the various options, it provides something for everyone to enjoy.
We have been wanting to try this place for a long time but it’s a little off the beaten path so we forget about it but today was the day! The entrance is massive, I prefer to, at least, be greeted upon entering which didn’t happen but that’s okay. Menu is a good size. Not TOO crazy but with just enough choices to be interesting. HAD to try the lobster Mac. Delicious! My two year tasted it and then hardly let me have anymore of it. I stepped it up a notch and added the Shuck me sauce, which tastes like chipotle chulua. Got the shrimp and gumbo bowl, the wife got pound of shrimp and I got a couple of pieces of catfish(this is a fish place right). Again, not a fan of having to get my own food, get my own refills, etc when there’s a “tip” option after ordering. The option should be taken off. Food was hot and everything tasted super fresh. The new potatoes with dill and garlic butter came out less than warm but were perfectly soft, so not a deal breaker. Bowl was very good. The roux wasn’t burnt and it had good amount of sausage and shrimp. Fish was flaky, well flavored and crisp. Shrimp was very good. I would have loved to see an option to get two corn cobs instead of a potato. That corn cob was 🔥. All in all, great place. Will definitely be in the dinner rotation.
Nice location and staff. Food is hit or miss. The calamari and bang shrimps appetizers were amazing. Oysters were solid and they have everything for toppings. But that lobster mac and cheese is badddddd. Dry barely lobster and honestly tasted more like tuna and mac and cheese because of the texture
Very well decorated space. Service was decent. It was pretty slow when we came, so it took us a moment to find where to order. The food was pretty good. The shrimp and crab gumbo tasted really good with their signature hot sauce, and was a fair price for the portion. The fried snapper was also good. The breading had a good flavor and was crispy. For those that haven’t eaten whole fish before, you have to be careful with taking out the bones when you eat it. I could see that potentially being a hassle if you aren’t aware of it.
I wanted to like it. From the outside you have no idea the space but they’ve got a great space inside and out … great side patio including a stage for live music. So we sat out on the picnic tables by the music, but I now regret that because there was something on the bench like paint or rust or something that got stuck on my brand new dress and I’ve spent the whole week trying to get the stain out and have failed. I emailed the restaurant to let them know so it doesn’t happen to anyone else but they haven’t responded yet. definitely an unfortunate occurrence that lessened my experience. The menu had a nice variety, I wasn’t sure what to get, kind of wish I had asked for a recommendation because I feel like I did not choose well. I’m sure there’s some things they do very well. I ordered the Veracruz style ceviche and the flavor of the marinade was great, had a subtle kick to it that I enjoyed but the fish did not taste fresh or it was not a fresh batch bc the fish was quite mushy by the time it got to me; not the texture it should be in a ceviche. I was also excited to try the fried oysters, a dish I love and hadn’t had in a while. They took a bit longer to come out, looked good… fries with it were great, cornmeal battered and not greasy but the oysters themselves were pretty gross, mucky slimy inside. Not how it should be. In hindsight I wish I had just taken them back up to the front. The side of grilled zucchini was plain but good char … it ended up being a lot of food btwn those 3 items so I took the zucchini home. For the $40 I spent on the ceviche app, fried oysters and zucchini, I was very disappointed in what I got. Would come back if I was with people who wanted to go or maybe just to grab a drink for the atmosphere but I’d be hesitant to eat here again.
