Extensive menu that includes tacos, quesadillas, a hamburger, flautas, chimichangas, bowls, sopapillas, churros, tres leches cake, margaritas, and mimosas. Came for lunch on a Friday, and it was fairly busy without a wait. Sat outside and enjoyed our meal in the sunshine. Service is top notch: even though my brother's order was heard correctly but rung up wrong, the staff graciously corrected the order without having us worry about paying the price difference between combos 1 and 2. Tacos are street taco sized (i.e., small), so if you're hungry, you might want you get at least three. And the tres leches cake is huge! If you haven't learned to share already, it's never too late. The shredded cheese in the quesadilla wasn't melted at all, but that might have been because they rushed making it to correct the order. I'd be willing to try it again to see if the cheese is more melted when they have time to prepare it.

This place is so nice!! Such a cozy atmosphere to sit and eat. I got the Brisket Birria Tacos and I loved how creative they were with the Jack fruit in this recipe. Depending on how you cook it jackfruit usually tastes like chicken but I was pleasantly surprised to bite into a hearty helping of tacos that tasted almost like beef. I loved the salsa as well so fresh and authentic you can tell it was made that day. Only critique I have is that the birria sauce is a lil bitter due to the cilantro I think but that can be solved with a little bit of lime squeezed into it! I enjoyed this place and definitely plan to come back. Come check out this little gem there’s a reason they’re rated one of Denton’s best, you won’t be disappointed!

Awesome menu full of flavor, I left feeling super full and satisfied. It was my first time visiting Pepitas and wanted to try as many tacos of their tacos as I could and I was happy to see that they had flexibility in the menu! I chose to get their “combo 3 meal” which allowed me to pick three of their tacos with a serving of black beans and rice. I picked their fried chicken taco, birria, and their al pastor. All three were super tasty and their beans were super savory. My partner also ordered their chips and queso. The chips were piled high and we weren’t even able to finish them all. The queso was creamy and cheesy, without the use of actual animal products. They cooked their queso with cuts of jalanpeno and onion, so when it is served you may expect large cuts of those in your bowl. Something I was not expecting was the heat packed into our food. It was pleasantly spicy, and much more so than food I would typically find at a restaurant. The spices in my tacos were spicy as well as the queso. Super awesome experience. I also ordered their horchata and it was refreshing and had everything I loved about horchata made with dairy. I’ll love to come back to eat at Pepitas when I’m in town.

The food was delicious and the staff was really nice and welcoming too. Spanish music is always playing which is definitely a plus and must have for a Mexican restaurant. I even forgot I was eating vegan food. Can't really tell much of a difference from actual meat. Had the Chik'n tacos, tacos al pastor, and birria tacos. All were delicious and had enough salsa with every bite. They also brought us some salted chips and home made salsa for them which was one of the best salsas I've had. Very good food option, even for meat eaters like myself

My sister and I recently went vegan and drove 25 mins to try this place. We were very impressed with the food! It was yummy and filling. I forgot to mention my avocado allergy when i ordered. They had no problem remaking my tacos without the avocado. The service was amazing and i want to thank Olivia for being so sweet and helpful the whole time as well as the other women who i never got her name. My sis and I will be back!

First off... how are you (Pepitas) just gonna come in unnoticed and have all this deliciousness stored inside and tell nobody about it! You held out long enough! I've had vegan food in plenty of places! Pepitas is up there with the best! Portion: size: fantastic, prices: fantastic, flavor: fantastic, customer service: fantastic, overall experience: fantastic! I tried to find the owner and shake their hand because the food was that good! (I was tryna see if some of there cooking skills could run off on me)! Anyway, you won't be disappointed! We had the loaded fries which had flavors of perfection! Also had the combo 3 and got 2 brisket tacos and the fried chicken Taco! Both were great but the fried chicken Taco had amazing flavor and the crunch on the Taco was absolute ecstasy! The brisket tacos would be prefect with a hint of BBQ sauce in it (in my opinion)! We also had the root drinks of Lemonade and lime and blueberry which were tremendous! Finished is the meal with a sweet surprise: Sopapillas! Never had them before but the cinnamon and sugar came in prefect harmony to complete a dance of joy in my mouth! Pepitas, you'll be seeing me again!

We came by on a Sunday morning while in town visiting friends. We got recommended the place by two different friends to go here since I'm vegan! The food was really good and tasty, very hot and made fresh! I really enjoyed the "chicken" pieces added as the protein on my dishes. I believe they are deep fried and battered tofu? I don't know, hard to say but definitely tasty! Everything here is vegan which is so nice. I don't have to worry about what I order, just pick anything and chow down! My nonvegan omnivore friends really enjoyed it too!

The portion of the food and the amount of chips they give is significantly less than before. The prices have also gone up quite a bit unfortunately. I don’t think I’ll order takeout again because it was too pricy for what I got. Original review from 4 months ago originally 5 stars: The food here is very good! I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but holy heck the food here is great. I’m going to come back for more because it was flavorful. The inside was very clean and the service was good too. I got the loaded fries with brisket and the jackfruit was surprisingly very good. I have never had jackfruit so I was surprised with the texture. My friend got the empanadas and I tried it and it was nice and crispy! The filling was good too. It came with chips and salsa. Everything was full of flavor. The salsa was also very good. I’m definitely coming back and trying more Items on the menu. The only weird thing was that it was really dark inside. I think turning on more lights would make the place more lively. Either way, the food portions were good for the price I paid. I can’t wait to go back! Edit: I will say that the sopapillas were not good at all. They were literally just puffed tortillas with very little sugary cinnamon powder. Pretty bummed about that.

Mexican born vegan here. This place gets one star for having good food presentation and one star for the mediocre tres leches cake. Do not make my mistake and let the food photos fool you. Everything we ordered was not good and had no type of Mexican cuisine flavor. Everything was a bit on the salty side as well. You've been warned.

Not really sure what happened, perhaps new management that was mentioned below? But...quality of food and portions have quite literally been cut in half recently. Social media even still shows the giant burritos that were SO worth it previously. Today we received burritos half that size, if not less. Queso portions were cut in half. Quesadilla was probably 40% of what it was a few months ago, and barely any filling. These changes will kill your business. We're not coming back unless you improve the portion size and effort, or cut your prices in half to the value of the cheap food you're serving now.

Long time customer here and honestly I had a nightmare of an experience today. It seems there’s a new manager who has a large amount of prejudice in body. I have always enjoyed coming to this restaurant and today I was mocked, cheated, and disrespected on a level that can never be corrected. The individual first attempted to declined my Groupon voucher and after speaking for a few moments decided to accept it. His tone was very belittling and his demeanor displayed an individual fueled by anger and hatred. He mentioned the store manager Angel and said he doesn’t honor them but I have a relationship with Angel who is the polar opposite of this inappropriate man. Angel is loving, kind, and full of respect. As the man attempted to lie to my face, I felt my heart sink to the floor. I knew I could never shop or do business with this establishment again. To reinforce this decision, the poorly behaved man / manager gave me little to no food and this is not an exaggeration. The nachos were missing beans, the Birria protein portion was so small, and our Tres Leches size was so laughable that I took a moment to enjoy it to subside the amount of pain, prejudice, and disrespect I felt at that moment. While I have loved this place to my heart, I know it is now time to part ways. I pray for the man who took my order today that he finds peace in his heart from whatever evil is stalking his life. As a therapist it is quite apparent that he is suffering. May he find God and a better respect for human life.
