We really enjoyed our visit here. We had a cozy booth at the bar which has awesome vibes. Our server, Abbie, was so attentive and friendly. She even sent over a free appetizer when she heard it was our first time in. All our rolls were delicious. We will be back!

The miso soup was ok... refreshing and warm but not super flavorful. The Unami Maki was super flavorful and a must-get. Same with the Eden Roll... also a must get. This was our first round of order and we were super happy with it so we ordered more. Round 2 was Bito Maki 2.0 and Shiitake to Me and both were a little underwhelming. We would go again for just the first 2 rolls and not venture too much into the other options sadly. Ambiance is also really nice here and you feel like you're in a decent Sushi spot.

Didn't think sushi would be first thing I got on trip to Denver but turned out to be a great idea! They've got a whole vegan sushi menu that was really well done, inexpensive, and delicious. I got the Thai Hippie roll - it was plated well, had great flavor, and lots of good toppings to add depth to the dish. The Busch NA tasted just as bad as it should and I loved finding it there to add to my NA list. Didn't get a photo of this but they also have a legit fish tank above the bar that was great to watch while eating.

Went here with my partner for our anniversary, staff was absolutely perfect. Even gave us a cute card and dessert on the house cause of the occasion. Absolutely coming next year too. Perfect spot, and amazing sushi.

🌟 5-Star Review: A Sushi Lover’s Dream in the Heart of Denver! 🌟 If you're in Denver and even thinking about sushi, Blue Sushi Sake Grill is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a vibrant, modern atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between chic and comfortable. Whether you're out for date night, a celebration, or just satisfying a sushi craving, this place delivers. 🍣 Food: The menu is both creative and inclusive—offering traditional favorites alongside unique, flavor-packed rolls. The "Crunchy Blue" and "Cherry Bomb" rolls are out of this world, and their vegan sushi options are some of the best I’ve ever had. You don’t have to eat fish to fall in love with this place. 🍶 Drinks: The sake selection is thoughtfully curated, and the cocktails are just as bold and artistic as the food. I recommend the "Kyoto Mule"—refreshing with a ginger kick that pairs perfectly with sushi. 💁‍♂️ Service: Staff here go above and beyond—super knowledgeable, attentive without hovering, and always ready to make great recommendations. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do. 🌿 Vibe & Values: A huge shout-out to their commitment to sustainability—all seafood is responsibly sourced, which makes indulging feel that much better. 🔚 Final Thoughts: Blue Sushi isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Whether you're a sushi purist or an adventurous foodie, you'll find something to love here. This spot has officially made it into my regular Denver rotation.

Came here for a date night on a Sunday. They have happy hour ALL day which is neat! We got the lettuce wraps the mango crab ragoons the crispy rice and the hawiian roll. Drinks were tasty along with the food. Service was alittle slow but good. Overall would come back again! The vibes were casual!

Thought this place was excellent as we went for happy hour on a Sunday. Out of the rolls we got, my favorite were the Lion King and the Hawaiian. I got a margarita which was also made properly and my boyfriend got the sangria which was really good. Other memorable mentions were the truffle sashimi and the mango crab rangoons. Will definitely be back!

We liked it so much in Lincoln NE, we had to go again in Denver! The service is always awesome. Our server Brittany was super nice and attentive, and we had a lovely chat with the manager Stephanie! Great people, great place! The food is awesome! There are so many good rolls that you really can't go wrong. Since we're vegan, this has become one of our favorite places because they have some killer vegan options! -The chicken or tofu lettuce wraps are amazing, do not sleep on them! -For non-vegans: Hotel Cali, Super Asparagus, Tidal Wave, and Hot Popper are amazing! -For vegans: Bito Maki 2.0, Crunchy Cabbage, and Cowgirl are incredible! Also, as Stephanie informed us, Tuesday nights are vegan nights - 25% off - perfect time to try if you're interested! The atmosphere is cool and looks great. This would be a great place to bring a date or friends. They have an amazing happy hour, so if you get the chance, it's always a good time to go and enjoy delicious sushi while saving a couple bucks!

I had the absolute greatest time here! My partner and I were so glad we decided on Blue Sushi Sake Grill👌🏾 Not only was the food and company great but our server Carrie was just the BEST 💯 We were sat at a long table next to some strangers which did not end up being a problem at all. They actually recommended a few items off the menu which was super helpful. I always love trying shishito peppers anywhere I go and I have to say these were some pretty damn good shishito peppers. We were strongly encouraged to get the Cherry Bomb 🍒 💣 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! We got two flights of sake and we were having such a good time I didn’t get to take picture of all our sushi. This place is a little expensive for our wallets but it was absolutely worth it (plus if we didn’t get drinks it would’ve been totally fine. Unfortunately we missed happy hour but they do have a happy hour menu! We will 1000% be coming back 😄 We came back, ordered more, and had just as good of an experience. We were lucky enough to be seated in Carrie’s section again and had just as amazing of a time as done so previously!

Such a great restaurant. Atmosphere was fun, plenty of vegan options, and HH menu was amazing!

I've been looking for a perfect lunch sushi spot in downtown, and this is it! The happy hour deals were fantastic. I got the Hawaiian roll and it was absolutely delicious! The crunch red was also yummy. I will be returning for the Hawaiian roll for sure. Highly recommend!

L
Lo Wood

Great spot for happy hour! And lots of options too. If you’re gluten free - ask for their separate gluten free menu (love to see it!) We did the Sunday all day happy hour and were so excited to try a few new things. It’s still pricey but worth it ☺️

Highly recommend this place, especially if you love sushi! This was our first time here, and even though our first impression was a bit soured by the hostesses, we were happy with everything else! We got sat right up at the sushi bar, which is a first for us, and I have to say, it's the best spot! So we were excited right off the bat! Our server was AMAZING! Cannot speak highly enough of her! Not only did she recommend some favorites when we asked, but she also went above and beyond with other drink combinations based on what we were looking at! Excellent service! She was also very accommodating when my first drink didn't taste like I had hoped, which is/was a relief! She got it swapped out for something much tastier with no hassle at all! Food was SO GOOD! I highly recommend the Charred Edamame and the Godzilla Bomb! There was definitely no lack of spicy flavor with all the options we had and even though we ordered some rolls that had a kick, everything was done perfectly and not over powering! I also highly recommend the nigiri! If you're familiar with nagiri, sometimes the rice isn't quite compact enough to stay together when picked up or dipped into soy sauce, but the nigiri here stays together and so does the rice! Excellent options if you're in the mood for that! We did not order any sashimi, but I'm sure that option is also very good just based on what we experienced! Drinks were very good, I highly recommend the China Doll and if you fancy a non-alcoholic drink, the Dragon Fruit Lemonade! The dessert menu was also great, I'm always a fan of the Mochi Ice Cream, so try the Expresso and Mango flavors! Overall, we had a great experience here and I'm very happy we decided to give it a try! Prices for everything are very reasonable! If you're looking for a great sushi place with a modern atmosphere, look no further!

Fantastic place! Super friendly and helpful staff that went out of their way to make us feel special when they discovered we were there for a birthday. Great atmosphere, kinda trendy vibe without trying too hard. The prices were Denver prices, but at the lower end of the spectrum and more than fair, even with several rounds of drinks. Most importantly, the food was delicious! Some of the best sushi we've had in a while. Recommended!

J
Jenn Pfankuch

Excellent service tonight thanks to Ashton! Food was delicious! We had the shisihito peppers, ceviche, godzilla roll, and Tataki Maki roll. Very quick service. I was particularly impressed with the shrimp tempura in the Tataki Maki roll since I don't like tempura. Tataki mako roll has eel sauce on it and I feel it might have been better with a different sauce. I'm not really a fan of eel sauce but it was a delicious roll. Will be returning since their menu is quite extensive! 5/28/25 update: our waitress somehow remembered my husband and my names when we visited here and hadn't been here in over a year. I did recognize her tattoos though I funny enough can't remember her name 😅 came here before the Rock Orchestra for dinner and again, had a pleasant experience!

Blue Sushi Sake Grill 1616 16th St, Denver, CO 80202 Wow! What an incredible dining experience at Blue Sushi Sake Grill in Denver! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere was infectious, and it was clear we were in for a treat. Our party of 12 was eager to dive into the menu, and we certainly did—sampling over twenty different sushi rolls! The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the Lion King Roll. This masterpiece stole the show with its perfect blend of flavors and textures. I can confidently say it’s the top sushi roll on the menu! If that wasn’t enough, the Godzilla Roll also made it into our top five, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and creativity. To complement our meal, we ordered several rounds of hot sake, which paired beautifully with the edamame and roasted peppers. The combination was simply divine and enhanced our overall experience. Despite being extremely crowded, the service was impeccable, and the lively ambiance added to the excitement. I learned that Blue Sushi has other locations across the country, even in places not typically known for sushi, which is a testament to their excellent reputation. One quirky touch that I loved was the fish tanks filled with pet fish—a fun irony considering the seafood menu! It’s a unique feature that adds character to this already impressive establishment. If you’re looking for top-shelf sushi that can compete with the best in the country, Blue Sushi Sake Grill is a must-visit. I’m already planning my return trip and can’t wait to explore their other locations. Highly recommended!

This was the first time coming to Blue Sake we had reservations (which is highly recommended). We came here to celebrate my birthday and see friends. It was such an awesome experience. Billie our server was amazing he was on top of our orders and checking in on us. The appetizers were so good and the sushi was so fresh and delicious. Presentation of sushi did not dissapppint. I will come back again the next time I visit.

My favorite place for sushi. Order the cherry bombs, you'll thank me later.

The manager was amazing and the food was delicious. Very high quality. The drinks were very well made and beautiful.

I love this place! My man and I come here almost every time we have a date night. It’s hard to go elsewhere when we know this will be good every time. Also, one of the only places where every drink you order taste good. Every time we come the staff is great and some of them have come to recognize us over time. It’s super sweet. Our favorite rolls are the tidal wave and the Hawaiian but we try new ones constantly as well. Crab soup is delicious. They also have the most extensive vegan sushi menu I’ve ever seen. The only thing that I wouldn’t rate 5 stars is sometimes the Hawaiian roll is different sizes. I wish it was a bit more consistent because it’s amazing and then disappointing when you come back and the roll is smaller the next time. But overall 10/10 love the atmosphere, the fish tank, almost all the servers, everything. We will be back soon! Also- definitely make a reservation. Just be courteous.

I work down the street and came over here after I was cut just to find out its the best sushi place in town. The food was 5 stars but nothing we ate or drank compared to the service from Tim. Best waiter ever easy 5 stars.

First off, let me start by saying all of the staff and servers were phenomenal. They all smiled, and gave speedy service. The food was AMAZING! The presentation was beautiful and precise, the taste was grade-A in my opinion, and there are a great variety of options. Get the mango crab Rangoon! Great for sharing.....or you can inhale it all by yourself like I did 😳😅

We were wandering around the Union Station area and dropped in here. Fantastic food and great service. Our server recommended the Shoshito Peppers and that was a first for both of us - but we loved them. The music was slightly loud for our tastes, but not too bad.

Went here for my mom's birthday last night. My fiancé and I are both vegan and were so pleased to have SO many options. Ashton (Ashtyn?) was so attentive and lovely, had great recommendations and made the night so special for my mom, even giving her a birthday card. We had to wait for the previous table to cash out (was not even a long wait) and they still graciously offered to pay for an appetizer for the table for the "inconvenience". All around a great experience with delicious food and wonderful service. Will be coming back for sure.

Thea Ciancanelli

Absolutely incredible! Staff was amazing! Our server was so welcoming and helpful! She clarified the menu right away, help us make decisions on what to get and check on us often! If I could remember her name, I would list it. She needs a raise! We were there Sept 11 around 1p on the bar side 😁 Beautiful restaurant! Amazing sushi!

Went right as it opened and it was quiet. Our host was very friendly and informative. They answered all the questions I had and was very patient with how long it took me to look at the menu. The drinks were pretty good. It was well priced for sushi.

Z
Zac Welch

I have eaten here twice, both times have been met with great service and patience from the staff as I asked a bajillion questions. Good sushi, a smidge on the more expensive side but if you go during Happy Hour, it's a very solid deal. I will definitely be going back!

C
Callan Hagman

Went here for the first time this month and ended up going back two weeks later! Wait staff were so friendly and the freshness of the fish really blew my mind for the price. The best part is the amazing happy hour menu they have! Also had a lot of vegan options which I know can be hard to find.

C
Cecily Baumer

Celebrated my birthday at Blue for their amazing happy hour! This is the best sushi spot in Denver! Our server Tim was absolutely wonderful! All of his recommendations were perfect and his service went above and beyond. We will definitely be coming back. Good food, good prices, great happy hour & great service-!

The most amazing service staff. love the food and it’s priced reasonably, so I come in a lot! The staff always is sure to greet me and have my order ready when they see me. Great management and hosting too!

S

Sunday happy hour is always a treat! The service is so friendly and also relaxed enough so we can order a couple rounds of sushi depending on our appetite. We drive down from Longmont, which should tell you how much we love it.

We were celebrating my birthday here, and Ashton made the experience so special. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind — checking in just the right amount and giving great recommendations. She made us feel really cared for and brought such a positive energy to the meal. Truly everything you’d want in a server. We absolutely loved her!

LOVE blue sushi and sake for regular and vegan sushi in Denver. Megan behind the bar took incredible care of us!!! We would’ve preferred to leave a review on OpenTable but weren’t able to. We loved her menu recommendations for our dietary restrictions and how welcome she made us feel, as underslept as we were.

C
Camila Vizcarra Guevara

Blue Sushi has some of the best vegan sushi in town! The cowgirl is my all time favorite. I don’t even like pickles, but they somehow make it taste incredible. The restaurant itself has amazing vibes, makes for a great date night spot. Staff is always incredibly kind and attentive when I go as well. I will keep coming back!

M
Michael Ginter

Exceptional first experience! Ashton was an enchanting server in both her thorough knowledge and prompt provisioning. Miso soup was perfect in temperature, texture, freshness, and flavor. Hotel Cali was perfectly fried and delectable, I could have enjoyed three more rolls, but I would have never left... Thriller lived up to its name in a surprisingly unexpected fashion. Cloud 9 had me dreaming of an ocean full of flavor. Friendly and efficient staff with great drink reccomendations. Lighting speed and lovely presentations all around. We will return without question!

To be honest I dont write reviews unless I was impressed, I mean reviews are a dime a dozen however let's just say this. Food, Service, Atmosphere and the Drinks all A+. It was my wife's birthday and they made it extra special and they did not have to. Needless to say, we will be back. Oh yeah, and a 3 minute walk to Union Station, I mean come on. Some restaurants just have it figured out!

The happy hour is so great and the bar staff is very friendly. The happy hour is the best around!! Not to mention the big selection of veggie/vegan rolls. They’re are really tasty

T

They have an entire menu of vegan sushi. If you prefer traditional sushi, their specialty rolls are incredible. Price in 2026 is about $17 per speciality roll. They have a full bar. The atmosphere is well suited for a night out with friends or a date. No dedicated parking, but there is an open paid lot (not garage) right across the street.

B
Bri W

I was very excited to try this restaurant because they have a large vegan selection. It was hard to decide what to order because everything sounded so good and interesting! Ended up ordering the roasted brussel sprouts, where the sauce really made the dish. And the avocado rice cakes were perfectly cooked! I will be visiting again!

K
Kris B

Excellent good and drink. Great Happy Hour prices. Was a bit busy so there was some bit of a wait to get our food out, but worth it. Staff was delightful, ambiance was chill. Highly recommend!

I stopped by after an Avalanche game and I was so overwhelmed, in a good way, with all the vegan sushi options. I am vegetarian and LOVE veggie sushi. I got the Thai Hippie roll and the Spicy Kaluna Crunch roll. Thai Hippie was so fresh and addicting. The Kaluna was indulgent and more comfort like. My only negative is the bar stools. The chair pads weren't fully attached to the chairs. When I hopped into my bar chair with my tootsie rolls for legs (aka short) I accidently slid my hand under the pad and hopped on top of my finger that was directly above the bare lip of the metal chair leg. My finger was instantly bruised under the nail and it still hurts today which is two days later. We checked the other stools and a few others were the same way. I was already having a day with my side business and getting a martini spilled on me (at this restaurant, but the waiter was very polite and helpful after) but I think it was just bad luck that day or someone's cursing me. Despite everything, I want to go back for the amazing food but I will NOT sit at the sushi bar. One more thing, the vegan miso soup was so flavorful and fresh!

P
Peter Docteroff

Stopped by for happy hour (all day on Sunday). The white peach cocktail was really good. Also got the Asian lettuce wraps and the spicy sake salmon maki, which were also delicious. It was a bit pricey, but overall pretty good value. This could have been a four star experience, but I was disappointed that a waitress (who was not serving me) assumed that my cocktail was finished and took it away without asking (when I was turned away), while there were still a few sips left in it. The cocktail was delicious and definitely was not happy that it was taken away before being finished. Update: It has been a while so I came back for happy hour and had a great time. Service was good and food was even better. Going to update the review from 3 to 4 stars

Solid sushi place. The lychee martini was also incredibly strong. Loved the ambience of the restaurant, and the fish was incredibly fresh.

S
Stuart Wilson

Really good sushi for being a land-locked state. The 2 rolls I got were both very good and the lunch special they offer is a good deal to. Only complaints I have are the bar seats are very uncomfortable, if they had a backrest then it would be fine, but just wood is very uncomfortable. The projector also has something splattered on it so the screen is speckled with whatever got on it. Overall a very good experience with attentive and friendly staff. If you’re in the area I’d check it out if you enjoy good sushi at a fair price.

D
Donald Moore

Great service. Attentive. Thank you. Good drinks. Food was super yummy. Miso soup was fantastic. Only criticism is my sashimi seemed to have been pre-made and was not fresh cut.

K
Kara W

The food was really good but the service was super slow. Our server was nice but I just think they were super busy. I don’t mind the service fee for staff at all but the credit card fee seems over the top to me. Everywhere else pays the fees and doesn’t put it on their guests. Maybe you could incentivize cash or debit with a discount? That would go over better to me personally. Instead of adding the service fee for your staff, why not just increase your prices and put the margins towards that same cause? A lot of restaurants do that and it goes over better with guests. TL;DR: Happy hour prices were great. Food was great. Service was friendly but slow. Credit card fees are too much.

Y
Yinja W

We’re visiting from NYC and had recommendations from a co-worker so we came here for lunch. Food is good but very very tiny portion. Also not authentic, the menu is very Americanized. The dishes also had no flavor. The service is okay but not outstanding while the “employee wellness fee” is charged. Just make your $18 sushi rolls more expensive. Besides that, this is more expensive than a standard sushi restaurant in New York City. Extremely unimpressed and will not recommend to anyone or come back.

E
Elise Reed

I've been before and been so appreciative of how knowledgeable of the menu our waiter was and how accommodating for substitutions the kitchen was, which is a game changer for someone with allergies. Unfortunately this time our server had essentially no knowledge of the ingredients in the dishes and rolls, making ordering very difficult. In the end he went to the kitchen and came back with a list of 5 rolls I could choose from on the extensive menu. Further, despite earlier saying that substitutions were allowed to accommodate personal taste, there was no suggestion for substitutions to accommodate my allergy. Our server also only dropped food off stopping to tell us what was what, never asked us how anything was, and never offered to get us more drinks. We left hungry and went elsewhere for more drinks. Overall a highly disappointing experience and I probably won't be back again.

I come here a lot so I know their potential and when I say their service at the bar was not attentive at all and when it came to me and my partner, they barely came to tend to us. Also the host with the short hair was so rude like please im not in the mood and will cuss you out next time. I really don’t care if it’s busy you treat people kindly just as we treat you guys. I love this spot when it’s not busy I guess other than that their spirit sucks.

Update: The baby was not “very fussy and crying” . Our baby remained calm throughout our arrival and only let out a brief cry after we had already sat down—which, as any parent knows, is perfectl normal. I would encourage you to review your security footage, as it will confirm this. Suggesting otherwise not only misrepresents what happened but also dismisses the legitimate concerns we raised about how we were treated. I was really disappointed with the customer service here. We came in with our baby (who was calm and not crying), and the host made us feel extremely unwelcome. He insisted the only seats available were at the bar, even though there were multiple open tables in a completely empty section with the exception of a few reserved parties. When we politely asked if we could sit at one of the booths, especially since we didn’t need to bring the stroller in, he responded with attitude and acted like we were an inconvenience. The vibe immediately felt uncomfortable. Other guests even noticed how the situation was handled. Because of how rude and unwelcoming the host was, we ended up leaving. It’s disappointing because we were looking forward to eating here, but the customer service made it clear that families with babies are not welcome. He was tying to sit us down at a high top table when there were clearly multiple tables open. We won’t be coming back and definitely won’t be recommending this place to others. After leaving your restaurant, we went to a restaurant' (Machetes) just a block away and were welcomed warmly by the staff there and dad completely the opposite experience.
