Opinions de Pig Pen BBQ Dripping Springs
There wasn't much of a wait because I arrived after the lunch rush. The pulled pork was delicious and full of flavor. They were no hard bits or fatty pieces. The bread was fresh. The service was wonderful. Everyone was polite. It's a great place to stop on your way through Dripping Springs. There's a few potholes in the parking lot so be careful if you're in a low profile vehicle. The prices are competitive. I'll definitely be returning on my way back through to Austin.
Well holy cow! We landed in Austin today and stopped by the Pig Pen as our first stop, and it might have to be my last as well. The brisket was AMAZING- it melts in your mouth and has such a great flavor. I’m a huge foodie and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The mac and cheese was incredible. Also loved the potato salad. You’ve GOT to try this place.
We celebrated Mothers Day at Pig Pen BBQ today. My wife loves BBQ, but I have never been a big fan of BBQ. Well, I am now. We had the brisket sandwiches, potato salad, Cole slaw, ribs, sausage, and corn. It was all amazing and tasted great. The BBQ sauce was amazing on the ribs and sandwiches. If you want great tasting BBQ, do yourself a favor and go to Pig Pen and sample everything. I can’t wait to come back and get some more. Staff is awesome and friendly, and get your food to you quickly. Looking forward to getting their nachos on our next trip!!
We are visiting here and tried a few different bbq places. Pig Pen is the best! The brisket was delicious and tender. Melted in your mouth! And the service was excellent. Very friendly! We will be back on our next trip! 😊
This place is my new favorite BBQ joint BY FAR!!! The moist brisket you can cut with a fork!🔥 And the potato bread served with it amazing not to mention their BBQ sauce! Friendly atmosphere smells great food’s great staff super friendly and very service oriented. I Will be coming back here time to time again👍🏻
I went in a different direction today and ordered the menudo and I coupled that with a Barbacoa taco on a well done flour tortilla. I’m from south Texas and have had great menudo. This is up there in that it was very well seasoned and the tripe was exceptional. I highly recommend this dish there from Jose and his staff. Great work on the Mexican food fellas!
We had a family reunion in Dripping Springs last week. I ordered a huge amount of BBQ to be delivered Friday (6/20/25) for the event and it was ALL OUTSTANDING!! Bill Warren took my order over the phone...and delivered our meal himself a few days later! How many owners take this kind of pride in their business?? All the BBQ was great...ribs, brisket, pulled pork, turkey, chicken, hot sausage and all the side dishes were outstanding. Bill Warren has my vote forever and if you are in this area Pig Pen BBQ shoould be a stop you want to make!!
so I visited this restaurant while I was on vacation from Florida & now I wish there was one back home! I was never a fan of BBQ until I ate at Pigpen. The minute you walk inside it feels like you are dining in a 5 Star Texas-themed restaurant. It smells like you are about to get a homecooked meal regardless of what you order. The Staff is Very Friendly and makes you feel at home. now about the food, there are very few places where you can go and everything tastes good. I am a picky eater and I tried Virtually Everything and it was amazing. I would highly recommend the ribs, pigtails, and corn. The seasoning and BBQ sauce are also homemade and I literally can't eat anything without them now. even took a bag home with me that's how good it is. If you like lemonade and banana pudding these guys do not disappoint. Make sure you are prepared to nap afterword's because good food like this will make you sleepy. I've been recommending these guys to everyone I talk to. if you want GOOD BBQ in Texas Pigpen is My Top Recommendation hands down!
They were so accommodating to our group of @ 30 food was super good.. I highly recommend brisket, bisket nachos, jalapeño sausage, Mac n cheese, street corn, loaded mash potatoes, Wait time to get food was good with our big group DEFINITELY A 10 STAR PLACE THANKS PIG PEN BBQ DEFINITELY GOING BACK!!! YOUR NEW FRIENDS San Antonio Street syndicate
One thing for sure, 2 things for certain, I don’t play about my bbq and neither does pig pen bbq, they just might have taken the title of best bbq in Austin by my book! You can’t beat the price point, quality and FLAVOR! I’ll be back over and over again and will definitely be spreading the word about them! And if the food wasn’t enough to keep you coming back, the customer service surely will! Thank you a ton Forrest! I look forward to seeing yall be huge in the bbq world 🙌🏽 10/10 I highly recommend! And P.S if you’re not a rib person, try the ribs here because they WILL convert you and have you licking your fingers!
O.M.G. This BBQ was amazing. It's Texas BBQ at it's best. The ambiance is quaint BBQ joint vibe. The smells wafting from the pit will have your stomach turning in a very good, I could eat a whole pig kinda way. I had the chicken, elote and green beans. Chicken was moist with the perfect amount of heat. The corn and green beans did not disappoint either. They do serve up other food as well and have cute little desserts too. If your love runs deeper than your tummy, they sell cute Pig Pen Swag. I'd fight 290 traffic any day to eat here again. Bravo. I will be back!
Pig Pen catered a family wedding. I was very impressed. I knew when I saw the beautiful smoke ring on the brisket I was about to be in for a fantastic experience. Juicy brisket, again beautiful smoke ring and fantastic flavor. Great use of mesquite for smoking. The sausage and charro beans were fantastic as well. I didn't try the turkey because I greatly dislike turkey but I was told by two other turkey haters in the family that their turkey was very good. If Pig Pen BBQ did in fact make turkey taste good they deserve an award and your patronage. I look forward to trying Pig Pen BBQ in the restaurant the next time I am in the Hill Country. I highly recommend Pig Pen BBQ.
I had baby back ribs, baked potato salad, and their green beans. Everything tastes amazing. The ribs were tender and juicy. As far as pricing goes it really wasn’t terrible for a BBQ place. I would definitely recommend stopping in.
Great establishment when it comes to giving back to the community. Food was decent but different than other texas BBQ joints. Brisket is not the traditional marbalized type you see at other Texas places. Ribs were probably the best item, resembled a sweet and sour type flavor with sugar rub, tender and flavorful. If you like fries, you will get a huge portion. Boracho beans were spot on with just enough spice, not bland, perfect. Kitchen clean and staff was following good food handling procedures. Picture is the 1/4lb of brisket.
The stuffed potatoes was absolutely delicious 😋 brisket was tender and flavorful. The servers are very nice and it was a pleasant experience.
Awesome food. We had the Ribs and Chopped beef Sandwiches.. The Jalapeno Mac and cheese is to die for. so cheesy and creamy.. Charro Beans have just the right amount of spice. Home cut Fries are good. The Pigtails (Candied Bacon) is now my favorite dessert. lol I was going to get a potato with meat, but I'm a ranch girl and they do not carry any, but besides that disappoint, every was wonderful..
Restaurant was clean and the staff was so helpful! Some of the best bbq out in the hill country-better than Salt Lick! Gringo fries are a must order!
Super delicious and tender brisket! Some of the best I've ever had. Pretty solid BBQ sauce as well. Will definitely be stopping by again.
I’ve tried BBQ from some of the best spots in Central Texas, but this place might take the top spot. The brisket was outstanding—tender, flavorful, and the bark had a unique taste that was unlike anything I’ve had before. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for some amazing BBQ.
Always a great experience at pigpen and Dripping Springs! Diego is professional and gets things done in. The food is amazing. Definitely come by if you are in the area! 10 out of 10 would recommend🤙🏽
We were in the area for a baseball tournament and stopped by with our team for lunch. We loved the atmosphere, there’s a large area outside with plenty of seating. The kids loved the playground, and it gave us a break. 😂 There was a very nice gentleman who helped us, I don’t remember his name. I also loved the “pinche” signs.
Tried out this local BBQ gem in Dripping Springs. It's got that cozy shack vibe going, and it's on the smaller side. But hey, fast and friendly service makes up for it. They had TVs for college football fans, which was a plus. We went for two sausage sandwich combos and a sliced brisket combo with jalapeño sausage. Portions were more than generous; I couldn't even finish my sandwich. My daughter's "not a jalapeño fan, so she didn't dig the Mac and cheese, but that's on her. The green beans were basic, nothing fancy. I'm all about that vinegar-based coleslaw—it really worked with the meal. The BBQ sauce had a sweet-spicy thing going on. Overall, we left happy and full. If you're into BBQ, give it a shot. Good job!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the ribs!! They were delicious and the best we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back.
Worth the wait. Loved the truck, but the brick and mortar is awesome. Looks like they might have even incorporated Razas as well, the pastor tacos had that Raza taste. The tacos I got were awesome. The carnitas and barbacoa were very good, but the pastor and the country sausage were exceptionally great. The table bbq sauce is perfect imo and the portion size is a great value at ~$4 a taco. Genuinely a great place I’ll be back to soon. Perfect addition to the Dripping Downtown menu, and I bet a weekday lunch this week is happening for me in a few days…
Amazing. Absolutely delicious. The beef rib is incredible. The bbq sauce is fantastic, well seasoned and not too sweet. The coleslaw was very good, as were the green beans. All of the meat was tender, and the beef rib was fall off the bone tender. But the most unexpected highlight - of the meal - HAD to be the baked potato salad, which was heavenly. So glad we stopped here. Great reason to come back.
While out driving around with my wife, just visiting small towns we stopped off at the pig pen BBQ, in Dripping Springs, TX , the staff is great and price's are fair. The food is so good we left with a full belly and content. Very nice and quaint place to eat. They greeted us like a local which was nice. If you're out and about in Dripping Springs Texas this is a must stop and eat.
In my life, I’ve never had such incredible bbq. We stopped by chance on our way through the town, and are we ever thankful! All of the premium side were off the hook good! Street corn, baked potato salad (warm), and jalapeño Mac & cheese had us both fighting over the last bite! The pulled pork was perfection, the smoke flavor was outstanding! Even the bun it came on was delicious! The fries were life giving. Then to top it off we settled for blackberry cheesecake because they were sold out of the banana pudding…not one single regret. Damn that was one extraordinary meal! Worth the travel to come back? You betcha! I don’t care where you live…get here! And yeah, we got some to go too! Keep up the great work ya’all! We will see you as soon as possible!
Some of the BEST BBQ my husband and I have ever eaten! We came in from San Antonio to shop at Retromania and of course all that walking and shopping gets you hungry SO we searched nearby places to eat. Pig Pen BBQ was the first to come up and we were sold! The atmosphere, the customer service and the food 🤤 THE BEST!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I visited Pig Pen BBQ today, but it was not my first time. They are a wonderful restaurant with great food and great atmosphere! They have a really cute front counter with some local groups' tchotchkes which really brings a sense of community to this very wonderful dining experience. They won my heart and my tummy!
It’s not a visit to Texas without a trip to Pig Pen BBQ! The food here is never a disappointment, and we always feel welcome and just like family. I brought my boyfriend for his first taste of real southern barbecue and he was upset because now no other barbecue is gonna compare. Our favorite meat was the pork ribs for sure, and the best side had to be the mac and cheese. We got some banana pudding to go too, and that was ten out of ten the best I’ve ever had! We had to get some seasoning to take home, and a jar of the peach jelly they stock from a local business. We add the seasoning to literally everything, and the jelly is so good on buttermilk biscuits! Honorable mention to the gringo nachos, nachos on top of their house made fries. So good, and it felt like I was gonna go into a food coma after. Next time we’re gonna try all the new Mexican food options!
I eat here almost every Tuesday, not by choice, by necessity! This place is not only the best BBQ around but even has a little taste of Mexican food too! Bill and Michelle are as real as they come! They have catered weddings, events and will satisfy my sweet tea tooth! Don’t go through town without a stop here. Except for Mondays-even Gods have to sleep sometime.
If you've never eaten BBQ before, DON'T EAT HERE! Why? Because you will, in vain, be looking for BBQ this good for the rest of your life. Obvious forewarning - you won't find it. I've tried a lot of different places, and I mean a lot, but this place has perfect brisket and pork ribs, which is all I care about. I live in west Texas, and we're making a return trip to the Dripping Springs area mostly because of Pig Pen BBQ. We'll be in the area for four days and I'm certain we'll eat there every day, perhaps for lunch and dinner. As a side note, I cook my own grass-fed brisket - slow smoked with post oak - a couple of times a month (we're hardcore carnivores). It's better than almost anywhere I've eaten, but it's not better than this place. In my opinion, the low bar on brisket is pretty low. Even the worst brisket I've had was still a plateful of edible meat. But the high bar is very rare to find. Of the dozens of BBQ joints I've been to, including some big names, no one beats this place. They've set the high bar on brisket by which I'll judge every other BBQ restaurant.
4/2/24 arrived around 6:30 P.M. The brisket burnt ends on the massive spud was amazing!! There was too much cheese, though, so I removed all of that gunk. This is also the first BBQ place that I have been to of Mexican heritage. The sausage disappointed me. It came out a bit cold, and it was not cooked enough. The green beans are seasoned well! It tastes like they use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce. 🙌 I do wonder where they get those big potatoes from. I've never seen any potato that large before.
We first had Pig Pen breakfast tacos at the Rootline Coffee trailer on our way out to Pedernales. They were incredible and we stopped by for dinner. Saturday dinner ran out early, so get there well before closing especially if you want baby back ribs. We ended up with chopped brisket and a barbacoa taco because it was very nearly all they had left just before closing, so you know it’s good. They were incredible, and the sauce was on POINT even though the meat didn’t need it. We came back AGAIN for Sunday morning breakfast and got the FATTEST breakfast tacos. The bacon egg cheese and sausage egg cheese were excellent, but my favorite was the migas taco. We are ITCHING to go back and try those ribs when we have more time in Dripping Springs. The head guy (owner maybe?) was very apologetic to running out, you could tell he cares a lot about his product and feeding people.
I stopped by Pig Pen BBQ (in Dripping Springs) and it totally lived up to its reputation. I ordered sliced brisket, jalapeño-cheddar sausage, and fall-off-the-bone ribs, with sides of baked potato salad and jalapeño mac & cheese — every item was smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. Their loaded baked potato is another standout that’s worth trying. The joint has a chill, rustic vibe — casual seating, counter service, and rolls of paper towels on the table (classic BBQ energy). Staff were friendly and moved efficiently even when things got busy. It’s clear people love it for good reason — I’ll be back the next time I’m in the Hill Country.
On a recent trip to 'Drippin" I was told in advance to find this place. The sliced bbq sandwich combo and the sausage combo was outstanding. Combined with fries and elote, you gotta good meal.
Some of the best bbq I’ve ever had, and I’m from Austin and been to franklins, salt lick, ext. we got brisket tacos, turkey, pork ribs, and piggybacks. Every item was so flavorful and just melted in my mouth. I can confidently say the pork ribs are the best I’ve ever had in my life, you can tell it was cooked to perfection. Cute atmosphere, great service, and outstanding food.
It’s refreshing to visit a place in the hill country that’s local, popular, just plain good. The staff was very friendly and inviting, the atmosphere was true southern hospitality. For our first time, we enjoyed pork ribs (fall off the bone), and the brisket nachos (yummy). It was delicious from beginning to end! We were offered complementary free beer, which was a very nice treat. Can’t wait to go back to dripping Springs and to the Pig Pen!
I’m just gonna start mentioning how friendly the staff were. How clean the tables and restaurant were and just a comfy feel to this Que stop in Dripping Springs. Operates mostly as a “build your own” which is total up to you. No planned plates and sides here. Pick your meats, choose your sides, and grab your beverage. We did turkey and pulled pork along with an impressive baked potato (which was topped with the pulled pork at the table) along with some vinegar dressed chopped slaw. We also sampled the Baked Potato Salad (honestly I should have switched to this) as it was warm and packed with flavor. Owner also delivered us a Piggy Tail or two yo sample. Wow, sweet goodness here! Take a slab of that on top of a maple frosted cream stick and you are gonna beg for seconds. Worth the stop, filled a huge empty spot for the long drive home. We will be back.
We were visiting from out of town. I highly recommend a meal here. Everything we ordered was delicious, hot, tender and flavorful. Service was super friendly and prompt. Don’t forget a chocolate chip cookie for dessert!
After a long day hopping around swimming holes this is the perfect way to end the day. Scenic drive on the way. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Food came out quickly. We got ribs and brisket with a few sides. Everything was great. Menu is BBQ + Mexi so there’s variety! Bathrooms are super clean. We’ll be back!
Pig Pen BBQ in Dripping Springs, TX, is a must-visit for barbecue enthusiasts. Located at 301 US-290, this family-run establishment has been perfecting its craft for over two decades, offering a menu that blends traditional Texas BBQ with unique twists. The brisket is a standout—tender, flavorful, and complemented by a smoky bark that’s hard to forget. Equally impressive are the pork ribs, which are seasoned to perfection and fall off the bone. For those seeking variety, the Mexi-Que menu offers delights like birria and pastor tacos, adding a flavorful fusion to the traditional offerings. Sides are more than just accompaniments here. The jalapeño mac and cheese is creamy with a spicy kick, while the baked potato salad and Eena’s street corn provide hearty, flavorful options that round out the meal. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly staff and a cozy setting that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Pig Pen BBQ delivers a memorable dining experience that showcases the best of Texas Hill Country barbecue.
Stopped in for lunch on a multi state ride. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating both indoors and out. I wasn't very hungry, so I asked if I could order a kids sandwich. Some places won't let adults order the kids portions, but here, it was no problem and it was just the perfect amount. The potato salad was AMAZING! If we lived in the area this would likely be a good go-to spot for a tasty meal while out on a two wheeled adventure.
We went in completely blind — no expectations, just hungry for some good BBQ — and wow, Pig Pen BBQ absolutely delivered. I’m a born-and-raised Texan who’s very picky about BBQ, and this place impressed me big time. The brisket was tender with an incredible bark — the kind of crust most BBQ joints just can’t seem to nail. If I’m being nitpicky, I could’ve used just a touch more smoke flavor, but everything else hit perfectly. A staff member (I’m guessing the manager) recommended the baked potato salad as our side, served warm — something I’d never tried before. As promised, it was amazing. Honestly has me rethinking if I ever want to go back to cold potato salad again. All around, great food, friendly folks, and a true hidden gem in Dripping Springs. We’ll definitely be back!
Walked into an atmosphere with excellent service. A family-friendly space that is very welcoming. They are quick with their food, and the loaded nachos with brisket made my tummy so happy! My friends and I were just driving through, and made a stop here. You should too!
My boyfriend brought me food from here, and it was hands down the best barbecue I’ve ever had. The mac & cheese is so delicious that I came back just for that. The customer service was amazing too—the guy at the register was incredibly sweet and gave great recommendations. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving barbecue. Everything was absolutely delicious. Thank you!
When you’re in Dripping Springs and want good local barbecue made with passion, the Pig Pen is where it’s at. Hands-down some of the best barbecue I’ve had in a very long time and I’ve tried lots of bbq places across TX.
Jalapeno sausage was excellent! Brisket was tender! Cold Miller was on point after a hike at Pedernales Falls State Park. What more could you ask for?
Very delicious pulled pork and chopped brisket sandwiches! The staff are welcoming and friendly! We day outside and enjoyed it!
Umm…WOW! This is as good as anything in Lockhart and just not as well known! ALL meats are ON POINT! Their new concept is BBQ and wine pairing. We has a blast today, and the food was so good! Tell everyone you know about Pig Pen!
I tried the brisket burrito with rice and it was pretty good overall, with a nice kick of spice that really adds flavor without being overpowering. The brisket was well-cooked and paired nicely with the rice inside the burrito. The tortilla chips were really good too—fresh, crispy, and a great side to the meal. Overall, it’s a nice barbecue restaurant in Dripping Springs, Texas, with good food and a solid atmosphere. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area and craving barbecue.
Any time we pass through Dripping or Johnson City Pig Pen BBQ is a must. All the items on the menu are out of this world. The food is always consistent and VERY tasty. My favorite items are the brisket and chicken but everything is truly amazing. The flavor is like none other. Be sure and stop by, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Place was open for breakfast so we snuck in there like a ninja. Very lovely people at the front. Brisket was very good, regular sausage..meh, jalapeño cheddar sausage very good. Only complaint is the onion is chopped super huge. Gotta give the people more control with the onion. Also the coleslaw is vinegar not cream based. Very good just a different style than most.
Wow this place is amazing! I knew it’d be good when I saw the sign that is super aesthetically on point for how I like my barbecue places to be. I also loved walking up and seeing metal rustic walls and a huge pile of wood. They cook it up here super classic yumminess you look for with the pork ribs and a creative twist w their baked potato salad. Yes baked. Boom! They are also super nice!
Great BBQ & Even Better Service Stopped by Pig Pen BBQ with my son and had the breakfast brisket burritos—absolutely fantastic. Flavorful, tender brisket and a perfect start to the day. Bill, the owner, was incredibly friendly, professional, and hardworking. He even went out of his way to help me find a Pig Pen BBQ hat, which really showed how much he cares about his customers. Awesome food, great people. Highly recommend! 🔥🥩
After walking around Johnson City for two hours and finding every restaurant either packed or with a massive wait, we were exhausted and desperate. We arrived at Pig Pen BBQ only to find a sign saying they had closed early for their company Christmas party. One of the owners saw us and, despite being on her way out to celebrate, stopped to hear our situation. She insisted on going back inside to see what she could do. Within minutes, she and her husband brought out two incredible focaccia pizzas with cheese and hot honey. They sat us by the fire pit on the patio to stay warm and were so incredibly gracious. When we asked for the bill, they simply asked for a small donation to their staff's tip jar. This couple is the definition of community and kindness. If this is how they treat people when they’re closed, I can only imagine the love they put into their BBQ when they’re open. Please support this wonderful local business!
I stopped by Pigpen BBQ in Dripping Springs and was honestly surprised by how solid everything was. The ribs were spot on, juicy, tender, and cooked exactly to the right point. The sauce didn’t overpower anything; it added flavor without taking over the plate. The brisket was fantastic: great fat distribution, perfectly moist, and with that deep BBQ flavor that’s hard to get right. Truly well done. The chicken was different from what I usually go for, skinless and boneless, but it was seasoned really well and tasted great, even if it’s not my go-to style. And the coleslaw? Simple, clean, and the perfect balance for the proteins. Sometimes simple is exactly what works. Overall, Pigpen BBQ delivers quality cooking and great flavor. Would definitely come back.
I ate at Pigpen BBQ in Dripping Springs and the food was excellent. The ribs were juicy and cooked perfectly. The sauce was balanced, not too much, not overwhelming. The brisket was outstanding: perfect fat ratio, perfect moisture, absolutely on point. The chicken was something new for me, skinless and boneless. Not my usual style, but it was well-seasoned and honestly very good. The coleslaw was simple and clean, exactly how it should be, and it paired perfectly with the proteins. Overall, a great BBQ experience. Highly recommended.
I used Pig Pen (I Do BBQ) for my wedding and I was blown away by the food! Went in blind and hadn't tried it before. Michelle was so awesome to work with, super helpful and everything was great!!! Chicken and brisket were delicious, sides were perfect and staff even served our chips and salsa on trays during cocktail hour! Amazing. The staff was awesome too. Thanks so much!!!
Absolutely delicious! This is definitely a place to check out in Dripping Springs. I had the brisket and the jalapeño cheese sausage, and the sausage was probably the best I've ever had—incredible flavor and snap! The sides were just as impressive. The charro beans were smoky and savory, and the baked potato salad was a great, unique twist. Served hot, it literally melted in my mouth. Can't wait to come back to get their breakfast tacos in the morning! Highly recommend Pig Pen BBQ.
We stopped here for lunch on our way home from a vacation in Fredericksburg. The brisket sandwiches, potato salad, fries, and beans were all delicious! We had our pup with us and the outdoor eating area is spacious with many shady spots under big shade trees and also a covered patio. The staff was so friendly and even brought out a bucket of ice water for our pup! Oh and don’t miss the banana pudding! Delicious! We look forward to coming back in the future!
Absolutely beautiful restaurant! It's so inviting and let me tell you, the food is so good! Some bus drivers and I stopped by because we had a fieldtrip that was close and it went over so well with everyone. Three very diverse palates, but everyone enjoyed everything! Between us, we had brisket, pork ribs, creamed corn, beans, and the baked potato salad... everything delicious and just enough to satisfy three hungry drivers!
I had the pleasure of being served by Sam at the bar, and I was truly impressed with her professionalism. She has excellent knowledge of wine and gave me a fantastic recommendation that paired perfectly with my meal. It was clear that she not only knows the selection but also understands flavors and pairings on a deeper level. Her suggestion made my evening really special. The food was also outstanding the ribs were juicy and flavorful, and the side dish was simply delicious. The combination of atmosphere, service, and food created an unforgettable experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to my friends! Thanks you Sam !!!
I don’t say this lightly: Pigpen BBQ in Dripping Springs is hands down the best barbecue I’ve had in Central Texas—and that includes the heavy hitters like Terry Black's, Franklin’s, and La Barbecue. I grew up on barbecue, so I’ve had my fair share over the years. I can’t say it beats my grandma’s—because if I did, I might get disowned—but it’s honestly the best I’ve had in a very, very, very long time. The brisket? Ridiculously flavorful. Melt-in-your-mouth, bark-for-days, perfectly smoked magic. I still can’t stop thinking about it. We also got the chance to meet the owner and the GM of one of their upcoming locations, and they were genuinely kind, welcoming people. The whole experience was just amazing. Great food, great people, and great vibes. I can’t say enough good things about Pigpen. If you haven’t been yet, go now. Just don’t tell my grandma.
Pretty good, sometimes won't get napkins with to go orders and the food will be pretty greasy. This time I went it was too much grease for me and no napkins so kinda didnt enjoy that but overall pretty good
Really great food and fast service, pretty large menu selection. The 4 stars instead of 5 because I ordered a brisket taco and received a brisket sandwich instead. Didn’t make a fuss over it because the brisket sandwich was great. The club sandwich and charro beans were really good too.
First time trying and went with the loaded baked potato. Hard to mess up IMO but couldn't eat it and wouldn't recommend that particular choice. Friends recommend several items so willing to try something else another time. "Loaded with meat" option was dry, missing bacon and green onions but had a bit of butter, sour cream and cheese along with the meat. Super pricey but that seems to be the expectation for local BBQ.
Flavor: B Service: B Tea: B Solo dining: A The brisket is good but nothing special. Definitely not that melt in your mouth kind of brisket. The sausage was really good and I loved the baked potato salad. The nachos are huge but could’ve been assembled more evenly. Beware of the 7:00 closing time and they will take away the tea and the Coke machine even though people are still dining.
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTRAVELS and EATWELLTRAVELOFTEN 7.9.24 dinner Diane had the brisket sandwich with fries. The sandwich had plenty of meat that was tender and very good. The fries were also good. I had the Jacob's rib combo. 1/2 of ribs, side and a drink. The half pound of ribs were only three total. At $16 I found that a little skimpy. I also added a 1/4lb of sliced brisket. Once again, the brisket was good. I wouldn't say it was anything special in flavor or tenderness, just good. The ribs were a real contradiction. The seasoning is so good that I never used any sauce on them. Some of the best seasoning I've had. The middle ribs ribs were good and pretty tender, but the outside ribs were dry and a little tough. It seemed they were lunch leftovers who had just gotten a little stale. If they had just come off the smoker, I bet they would have been wonderful. The house sauce was very good without overwhelming what it was applied to. The only other issue was the fact that the Jacob's plate is the only plate they offer. Everything else is ala-carte. Overall we enjoyed it and would come back. Recommended two thumbs-up 👍 👌
Portion size was good. And flavor was was fantastic. This menu is like bar b que meets best taco stand ever. Its a fusion of all the best things TEXICAN. The Christmas decor was super fun and they have several TV's for the sports games. There is seating inside and out. Food is delivered to your table. There are plenty of super large tables to accommodate family's. We enjoyed the Gringo tacos, street corn, brisket sandwich, and tacos.
I decided to check these guys out on a TooGoodToGo trip. You never know what exactly you are getting when you choose them on the app. I had always wanted to try this place, so I pulled th trigger. I was unaware that it was "Founders Day" when I popped in. The place had a few family in there. I go to tell them I am here to pick up a "TooGoodToGo" order. The woman working the register disappears to get it ready. To the young kid working the register, I would avoid drinking at the register and sitting there like you are bored to tears. That is not very professional looking. I get there it was quiet and there was really nothing to do. I really wish I had studied the menu before coming in, as I wish I would have opted to order more food. You can smell the smoke from the BBQ as you are in the restaurant. I ended up getting 3 sausage links, which were fantastic. I got corn and this warm loaded potato salad that was also very amazing. I will say props to how they give you BBQ sauce. It is in a vacuum sealed bag. Usually, it is in a little container that gets knocked over and spills all over the place. I am glad to see they have moved to the vacuum sealed BBQ "pillow". Overall, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. A good judge of a BBQ joint is their brisket. I will be back perhaps during a time that is not chaotic with the festival going on. I wish I would have learned about this place much sooner, this will definitely be a stop when I head out to Dripping Springs.
Their chicken has some solid seasoning and is clearly the star of their line up. However, $18 for a 1/2lb of some mids brisket is ridiculous! To be fair, I picked it up durring The last hours before closing. However, I expect consistency at $18 for a 1/2lb of brisket regardless of the time of day.
This is my first time trying and as a disclaimer I'm not big on salt... with that being said I couldn't even finish my chopped beef sandwich it was so salty. The bun wasn't anything special and their fountain drinks were lacking in taste and carbonation. I did like the baked potato salad, however it was swimming in melted butter. I'll go back to try something else but I'm not easily fooled twice by a restaurant.
The best part of the meal was the desserts from YaYas baking obsession. The brownie was the best one I have ever had. The brisket had no flavor like it was baked in an oven. The chopped brisket was all burnt ends.
I’m a bit picky when it comes to BBQ, I know what I like. My favorite thing to order is brisket. This place was nice, friendly service. I accidentally ordered the chopped brisket (normally I’ll order sliced) and I’ll say it seemed like a generous amount in my sandwich. My husband cracked a joke about it looking like sloppy Joe. He got the sliced brisket and let me try a piece which I wouldn’t have enjoyed that sandwich any better, the meat was dry for my liking. The fries were ok and my favorite thing was the sweet tea. I’m always excited to try new places but for me Terry Black’s barbecue has been the best I’ve had in the surrounding area.
Pig Pig BBQ had some good things going, but overall the experience landed right in the middle for me. The staff was friendly and the service was quick, which I appreciated. The BBQ had decent flavor, but a few items were a bit on the dry side and didn’t have that rich, smoky taste I was hoping for. Sides were okay but nothing that really stood out. It wasn’t a bad visit — just not the knockout BBQ experience I expected. I’d give it another try in the future because the place has potential, but this time it was average.
I love brisket. It’s my absolute fav. Unfortunately, my brisket was dry. It had good flavor, but it was not tender, moist, or juicy. The Texas-style green beans were overly cooked, so it was soggy, and it had absolutely zero flavor. A little bit of salt would go a long way. The jalapeño mac n cheese was the tastiest thing I had on my plate. Creamy and yummy. Service was fine.
I try not to review sites when I'm not happy with a product because it's just my opinion, but maybe what I have to relate to PPBBQ might help them in the long run. I was at the Burke Rally today at Speedy Springs and decided to grab a bite to eat. PPBBQ had a trailer out there and I thought "hey, that's the place I see in JC TX and it looks like a cool place... I'll give them a try. First thing I noticed was there wasn't a menu or prices anywhere to be found so you don't know what they have to offer without asking. Turns out all they had was chopped beef, pulled pork and nachos... I get having to be cost effective and limited menus so not that big of a deal until they hand you a 4" bun with a dab of chopped beef and a plastic fork and say... "that'll be $10.00". I asked, "do you have pickles and onions? how about chips? and the response I got back was... "naw, they don't send us out with anything". I said "wow, that probably hurts you in tips when folks are disappointed" and he said "I'm just doing this to help out my wife". I get the fact that he's just help and really doesn't care about the success of someone else's company but the person who owns the company and is responsible for it's success should care about the first impression it's company presents to the public. Not a good one for me, I like to discover new places to go out to with my girl, show her and friends a cool spot with great food and drinks but because of this one visit, I will probably not make either of the PPBBQ locations a point of destination for us... and unfortunately, I will feel obligated to share my experience with anyone who asks me. If PPBBQ is trying to build a business for the long haul, you better pay attention to all aspects of your business because "details matter". Hope this helps.
We’re die-hard BBQ people and just moved into town, so we stopped in with the family to give this place a shot. I’ve got a decent platform where I talk about food (a few thousand views on some posts), so I always try to be fair and detailed. Positives: • Service was excellent — the ladies working were very friendly and welcoming. • The place was spotless, one of the cleanest BBQ spots I’ve been to. • Mustard potato salad was solid. Food: • Mac & Cheese: Soupy, lacking flavor. • Pulled Pork: Decent flavor and sauce, but the meat was overly wet in a way that didn’t feel like BBQ — more like it had been sitting in liquid. • Beef Brisket Tacos: Presentation was different — whole slices of brisket laid across the taco. Unfortunately, the brisket itself was very dry. • Brisket Queso: Disappointing, not something we’d order again. I did notice other tables getting burritos, and maybe that’s their strong point, but based on what we tried, I don’t think we’ll be back to find out.
For the price I would expect a larger portion. The chicken was overly salty. If you like Rudy’s BBQ you will be greatly disappointed by this place.
Worst street corn ever It is canned tomatoes and corn mixed together. Awful. Farthest thing from authentic or even good street corn in all of Texas.
I’ve been here a few times as a local and this seems to have the same issues with every visit. To start, the food is re-heated. The brisket and pulled pork taste like leftovers from the fridge. Sides are better than the meat for sure. Service is sloppy, they hand me an order that isn’t mine or correct. The tea is super foggy and old, pretty consistent. You’d think with the prices you pay, you would have the equivalent to blacks bbq. Just seems like premium prices for low quality. Not to be rude, but it seems like a money grab to me. On a side note, I got a McDonalds butter with my bread; nice touch.
