The food was delicious, and everyone at the party loved it! The serving sizes were generous, and the service was excellent. The presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend this place!
Taqueria Talavera was good! I’m a burrito person and decided to try a different type of burrito instead of my regular carne asada. I decided to go with the specialty Mole burrito and it was spicy and flavorful, I was shocked how good it was. They had music playing also, so while you wait for your food you can could enjoy the music. The service was fast and efficient although I showed up close to closing time, I would for sure eat here again.
Personally, I call this place "Cada Vez" because in my experience, they simply do not miss. Large menu with everything available all day long. Fresh ingredients. Homemade postres. Even give you choices on the self serve water: plain or citrus infused. Several agua frescas. Beer, wine, margaritas. Secret menu items posted on the counter. Seating outdoor and indoor. (Pro tip: if you want more quiet and don't mind it being a tad bit warmer, grab a seat on the indoor balcony floor. Love the vibe of going behind the counter to get upstairs.) This place is a well oiled machine with a big beating heart. True to the name, the visual aesthetic is light, airy and homey. Right at Solano and Peralta, adjacent to an itty bitty placita and cute toddler park. IMO, they don't just earn business at Talavera -- they deserve it.
OMGAAAAAWD ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE. the food is not greasy or fatty. The chicken tacos are amazing and full of flavor. The steak is tender and not fatty at all. The staff is super friendly. They play music and its a chill place to hang out. The salsa is fire!!! For once I dont have pics lol I eat the food before I remember to take photos. Lol thats a good sign hahahhah you cant go wrong eating here. Real authentic Mexican food.
We adore this place! Very friendly, professional service, great food, charming interior and exterior. The chilaquiles are exceptional, and I love their plantain dish for something smaller. We've also had them cater for my daughter's birthday parties: they're always very reliable, & the kids love the burritos.
The city of Albany has many great culinary gems and food s often overlooked. Today we indulged on Mexican cuisine at Talavera. The welcome greeting started things off. The staff was smiling and happy which really helped to turn our day around. There are daily specials posted and a robust menu of quality made to order dishes. We love family businesses and this family really has it together.
Great place that’s open later than the other restaurants in the area. Fun bright unique decor, big menu with a lot of variety and also vegetarian options. Outdoor and indoor seating. The staff are so friendly and efficient and they all seem to get along which adds to a warm family-business feeling. The food was very good. Vegetarian enchiladas were delicious and veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The vegetarian sopes were also good altho I think they were a little plain, also wish there was more sour cream and cheese on the dish. Guacamole and chips were very good. Horchata was also so good, love that they use more cinnamon.
Great food. The ordering and assembling of my burrito was quick. Although it was a bit past the dinner hour and closing time wasn't too far away. Shortly after ordering, I'm sitting at the table and the guy hands me my burrito over my shoulder. The 'kitchen' was right behind me. The decor/art on the walls makes you feel like you're about to get something special on your plate. The display of salsas and desserts in the display case were impressive. Nothing about this place says, 'just another Mexican joint.' I tried the mole sauce in a burrito. I'm glad my first experience with mole was a good one. Sorry for the picture of the partially eaten burrito, but it's the only way i could show you the inside. "Best Mole in 40 years" was is likely very well deserved. I'll be coming back for taco Tuesdays.
I️ love this place, there burritos are huge and I️ have had all the vegetarian options for their burritos and the nopales is my favorite! I️ have been having the same burrito since 2011 and man it is so good, I️ have had their other offerings, but I keep coming back to the nopales burrito with the mole, come with a big appetite their portions are generous for what you pay for and I️ love that. This place is always a treat when I whenever come here and their salsa bar is great as well.
Excellent carne asada tacos. We came on a Tuesday so got a $2.50 per taco deal. I personally didn’t care for the chorizo; and the carnitas and al pastor were decent. Small sized horchata. Tasty Habanero salsa; good dinner overall. There are other dishes and treats we’d like to try sometime.
I write this review really disappointed because I swear by this place and loyally go whenever I feel like having Mexican food, but tonight I ordered enchiladas with beef and threw one out. The beef was one huge piece, chewy, fatty, AND tasted off, like plastic or chemical. It was inedible. I don’t think I’ll be going as frequently or ever ordering the beef enchiladas again. Big bummer
Had tacos. The steak taste like wash cloth. The same towel they used to wipe the tables etc. Not good. The tortillas smell of it too. I wont be back. I didn't see anyone wesr gloves either. Or wash there hands. Unsanitary
Instead of receiving sour cream And guacamole On my nachos I received 1000 island dressing And thin avocado dressing. This is unlike food I received in past. The quality of the food did not qualify for a credit or refund according to Talavera which made me publicly express my dissatisfaction!!!
This was my first time in this restaurant. Honestly, the ambience wasn't that good. The door was always open, and it was cold inside. The food was blunt, not warm, and looked like fast food. My beans had a stone in it that could have broken my tooth. I think the food is overpriced. I'm not going back again for sure.
I really hate to leave bad reviews. Especially after only one visit. But, I hope that my criticisms can be used as an opportunity towards making improvements. I ordered the simple burrito, vegan style, add sauteed peppers and onions, plus wet (covered in enchilada sauce). For starters, when you pay with credit card, your only options are for how much of a percent to tip. They do have a little button for "other". But, you have to manually type in $0, and it's a bit uncomfortable when the cashier is right there in front of you. I think that instead they could have a "no tip" button option. Or even better, it should automatically assume no tip, and you should have to go out of your way to add a tip (especially, since this is for picking up your own order). My personal opinion on the flavor was that it was poor. Out of 5 stars I give the refried beans 2 stars. The rice 2 stars, bcuz it seemed to be a bit undercooked (crunchy) and not fluffy or flavorful. Probably half of the sauteed onions and peppers seemed almost fully raw, and were just giant chunks thrown in that looked so unappealing and unprofessional. I'm a burrito lover. I eat burritos multiple times per week from all over the bay area. When I find a place that makes really good burritos, I make that restaurant my regular "go to" in that area. The crazy thing is, that when the cook's or employees are being lazy and sloppy on just one order, that's all it takes to lose a potential lifelong customer with years of regular business. I understand that the cooks are making lots of orders, day in and out, but if you don't prepare every dish with a standard of integrity, you'll be communicating that as your business ethic to unsatisfied customers, (which can translate to the customer as: "we don't have standards", "you're unimportant to us" and, "we dont really care"). With this being said, I do want to make clear that this was my only time ordering from this restaurant. I chose this restaurant bcuz of it's stellar customer reviews. Maybe my experience was a rare doozy. But, unfortunately, for me it was unsatisfactory enough to not want to give them a second shot. I do wish them the best
