Opinions de China Buffet Dumas
This is a good Chinese buffet. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked well. I like that they had chicken strips and fries for our son that does not like Chinese foods. The ice cream bar is reason enough to come. The wait staff were helpful and kept our drinks topped off kindly.
Time for an update on what's below... Still the same. Is it the best Chinese buffet I've ever been to, no. Is it the best we have in Dumas, TX, absolutely. Never had a bad meal here. Great for a quick bite to eat with good selection. As a family we eat here at least once a month.
Customer service was good could have been better. The man never smiled or the woman. She watched when you were done with your plate she had it picked up. No smile though. No conversation or hi. They both looked tired. Could have been towards their shift? The food was really good. Everything looked clean tables, floors and around the buffet. Lacked a variety of dishes. I came in early so the evening buffet may be different. The out side really needs alot of attention. Windows are dirty on the outside. The curtains could be replaced look tacky on the outside.Parking lot full of holes. Weeds growing up in cracks of sidewalk.
Decent. No frills. Food was good and I didn't get heartburn like I usually do eating Chinese food. Little rundown. Old converted Hardee's/Carl's Jr. Little more expensive than the one in Dalhart but the food was much better.
This restaurant doesn't really offer a good variety of Asian cuisine on their buffet. I've eaten at other China Buffets and the variety of food was great. I liked the honey chicken and the fried shrimp. Also loved the Hot and Sour Soup, but would have loved it more if it would have had more tofu and shiitake mushrooms. All I'm all the food was just ok and the price was ridiculously high. I hardly ate anything and was charged 18.00 Kind of high for a buffet that doesn't offer a bigger variety. The atmosphere was too quiet for me. The owner seems a bit standoffish too. Not friendly.
Nice ambiance... upbeat Chinese pop background music. To be fair... the food needs a serious makeover... it is quite limited in assortment... high oil content... mediocre quality... compared to most other Chinese buffets I have been to. Personnel are courteous... but less than warm and friendly. Ice cream bar is good.. and almost always helps make up for a less than delicious cuisine! The good news is... There's lots of room for improvement!
We went in around 3:40 and the food was not fresh! A lot of food left over from lunch. A lot of the food was cold. I’m going to guess it is better to go in at 4:15 to 4:30 at the earliest. I don’t like paying full price $30 for cold food that’s not fresh!
So, I read the reviews before we went and they were all across the board. We decided to give it a shot and decide for ourselves. That was our mistake. Now the food flavors were good but the food was all cold. No matter what we tried. Everything cold. People around us asked if our food was cold too. We even said something to them but nothing seemed to be done. I finished most of my food because I knew they wouldn't try to make it right, but my dad had just a couple bites of the things he tried. We ended up losing our appetites and left after 15 minutes. The ONLY reason I'm giving two stars is for the flavor. Good taste isn't worth getting sick though. One star for flavor and one star for decent staff. Not worth $11 per person unless they get their food up to code.
The food was ice cold and surrounded by thick grease buildup, making it completely unacceptable. The building is in terrible condition and filthy beyond reason. To make matters worse, I am confident I saw mouse droppings in the men’s restroom. This place is a serious health hazard and should not be serving food to the public.
Cold old food nasty not worth it
I’m f I could give this establishment a Negative 5 Stars… I would…
I was going to eat there since I would be in the area. But, after reading the reviews, NO THANKS. Customer service not being hospitable, food being cold and not enough of it and with customers not able to eat much because of the bad quality, worms in the pineapple and who knows what's in the other food, plus some customers felt ill afterwards and with food poisoning. One reviewer said that they were in the top 100 at #8 for best Chinese restaurant. But, that was in 2011. They are also a 'B' rated restaurant. Hey owners, I love Chinese food, get your act together. Get it back to 8 out of a 100 again. Until I see better reviews I will not even open those doors.
Family was passing through town and wanted something different to eat for dinner. This was our first mistake. (Should have checked Google first.) [Normally 'hole in the walls' have excellent food.] Food was horrible, not much out, even tho they did cook more. (See pic.) It seems they were eight out of the top 100 Chinese restaurants? Even have lots of pictures, plaques and certificates but they're all from 2011. It seems they are riding the coattails from 14 years ago to keep their place in business. The outside is ran down, literally not all the letters were on the building. Now let me get to pricing, which isn't posted anywhere. For my family of six it was just over $17 a person 😭. (See pic of receipt.) For horrible quality, average service and could have gotten something way better at literally any other restaurant in town. To top it off, when I was paying for the check, I'm assuming the owner rang me up, he proceeded to watch several tiktoks with me standing in front of him waiting for the receipt confirmation. Zero eye contact, barely a thank you was mumbled out, and back to his phone. My family barely ate anything because the food was not that great. And the cherry on top as I was walking out I noticed they had a rating of a B from the health department. I recommend going to any other restaurant than this one.
The food was cold, and when we let the staff know about it, they tried convincing us that it was hot so we left without eating anything and they still had us pay eight dollars for two drinks not to mention the place looks more ran down, then the photo shows when you look the place up
I would not recommend as almost every chicken item (most of the meat on the buffet was) was undercooked and there was several unlabeled mystery meats, they claim they're 8 out of the top 100 of the country but I think they'd really rate much lower if they were reviewed today
Rude service. The desk person is rude and yanked my card out of my hand. I was gonna hand it to him but he just yanked it. No problem of paying but for him to just yanked it was an issue. Not even a thank you come again. The food is ok but not the best.
Picked up to go last night, good looked Gross and was gross. Could not eat it it was dry and tasteless and the service was very rude. Will never go back to that place again.
Terrible quality food. There was nothing, but scrapings of food left in the last hour of the night. I was ready to walk out upon arrival. We only stayed, because my son was hungry and wanted to; yet he barely ate because it was gross. The shrimp still had the digestive tract in it. The garlic bread, and mozzarella sticks were hard, and dry. The wonton soup was flavorless. The meat in the beef & broccoli was crusty, and chewy, and the broccoli in that, and the chicken & broccoli was super soft, and mushy. Egg rolls were really mushy on the inside too. I ate, because I was paying for it, but my son left most of his plate, and said the sprite was the best thing. I drank water, and the only thing I really enjoyed was the cream cheese wontons. Even the honey chicken was dry, and mediocre. Then my bill was over $27, and I couldn't believe it. The prices aren't posted anywhere, and I never would have guessed it was more than $8 each. For $12 each you'd think we were eating crab legs, and clams at a nicer place. This is by far the worst Chinese food I've ever had, and I'm not even a picky eater. When she told me it was $12 each I said, "You're kidding me right?" It wasn't even a buffet. It was old left overs that had been sitting there for hours. People (at least 10-12) kept coming in, and they still didn't restock all the trays. They just added a few bits, and pieces. She took $2 off for the drink, and I'm seriously floored by the audacity. My son said it was hurting his stomach, and after eating my head hurt. This place should be shut down.
